As of this morning, I am down 25lbs and into the 170's! I am so excited, this was completely unattainable in my eyes just 3 months ago when I started the Trim Healthy Mama lifestyle.

My 2nd weight loss goal was to be out of the obese category & into overweight by 9/30. I will miss that, as it's still 10lbs away, but that's ok. I'll be hitting it soon enough. That will also mark the 1/2 way point in my weight loss journey.

T... Tue, 24 Sep 2013 12:59:29 EST I hit my first goal early! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5425019 My goal was to hit 190 by 8/31 and I hit it Tuesday...6 weeks early! I'm finding with THM, it's hard to not lose! I lost another 4.1lbs this week. I'm completely ecstatic, and super excited about this way of life! My family visited Six Flags on Monday and I was able to stay on plan (yes, we brought our own food), but I was shocked at the number this week...I actually hit the 180's...at 189.2!

I checked the BMI calculator & I'm still labeled obese. My next goal is to hit overwe... Thu, 18 Jul 2013 08:12:43 EST Still Going Down.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5416057 I'm still working on the Trim Healthy Mama plan & I'm loving it! I just can't say enough good about it. I finished up week 4 last night & weighed in this morning, for a 3.5lb loss! I've now lost a total of 11.1 lbs! I went to Savers today & bought size 16 shorts. They zipped perfectly, although they're still a bit snug in the leg. I also bought 2 shirts. They don't quite fit yet, either, but I don't think it'll be long. Just finished measuring...down 4"!

I had my husband hi... Tue, 9 Jul 2013 22:24:20 EST Trim, Healthy Mama!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5404902 I see it's been quite awhile since I've been here on Spark People. Since then, I've given up the gym. I hated to do it, but we just don't have the $40/month for it. I was getting very frustrated with my weight loss, or rather, the lack thereof. In the months going to the gym, I lost a whopping 5 pounds. I know, I know, muscle weighs more than fat, but geez, 5 lbs?

I also lost my grandmother, which was heartbreaking. She was 96, but pretty healthy. She passed almost 2 month... Fri, 28 Jun 2013 19:52:47 EST Still hanging on http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5285539 I haven't been out here in almost a month! I'm still sticking with the gym, still working on new habits, although slowly. My 199 didn't last long, I bounced right back up into the 200s, which is what has always happened for the last 6-8 years. Ugh, so frustrating! I'm determined not to let it stop me, though. I WILL get there!

My friend, Deb, posted monthly goals for herself & I liked the idea. So, here I go:

The 2nd 1/2 of March:
1. Drink more water. I'm GR... Wed, 13 Mar 2013 17:09:36 EST Yippee!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5254728 Well, I'm back from vacation. We spent almost a week at my in-law's cabin in Pittsburg with my parents-in-law and my husband's sister & her family. 16 of us total. We snowmobiled, snow shoed, some went swimming at the indoor pool in a nearby town. We just had fun, until the kids got sick, of course!

What a wonderful surprise to find when I hopped on the scale Saturday morning...I'd finally broken out of the 200's! I'm so excited!!! 244

Today was my... Mon, 18 Feb 2013 10:57:03 EST It's the little things... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5233033 I've been kind of quiet here lately, but I've still been plugging along on my journey. I only made it to the gym twice this week. Discouraging, but that's what our schedule allowed...sort of. My husband worked some crazy shifts this week, coming off duty at 7am Monday, but then working a reverse 24 starting 5pm Monday night-5pm Tuesday. Then, he worked his regular shift 7am Wed-7am Thurs...but he didn't get home Thurs til sometime between 2 & 3pm!

I knew I wouldn't make it to ... Fri, 1 Feb 2013 10:33:34 EST Learning to Box http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5225398 I took a boxing class yesterday. Can I just say that it was amazing? I absolutely loved it! I can certainly feel my arms & shoulders today, but they don't hurt. I had a great time, and having never boxed before, was surprised at how it got my heart pumping and how much I sweat! What a workout! The trainer giving the lessons does them every Saturday. I can't afford to go every week, but maybe 1-2x's per month? Who knows?!! I'm off to check out the SP videos for some boxing moves! Hav... Sun, 27 Jan 2013 10:00:58 EST Back in the Saddle http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5209121 I'm back! Bronchitis sure kicked me in the rear! I visited the doc last Tues & took my first meds just after lunchtime. I was so amazed at how much better I felt by evening. I went back to the gym Thursday, just for a 5 (maybe 10) minute stint on the Arc trainer, just to get moving. I lasted 5 minutes, 40 seconds. My legs were spaghetti, I had no strength. I didn't go back until yesterday. On autopilot, I set the Arc for 30 minutes. Wait, I had no strength just a few days ago & hadn'... Tue, 15 Jan 2013 21:53:30 EST Slowly but surely http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5198675 Well, it's been 24 hours of meds. I'm feeling tons better. Sore throat is gone, cough is mostly gone. I'm just oh so very tired. I felt pretty good this morning, so I got the bed made, kitchen cleaned up, and dinner in the crock pot. Now, I've crashed in the recliner. I hope my strength returns soon, I'm ready to get back to the gym! 102 Wed, 9 Jan 2013 11:39:47 EST Onward and Upward http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5197641 Had a doctor appointment today and I have bronchitis. So, yep, I'm sick. I'm on antibiotics and an inhaler. I'm glad to have found out what was going on and to have something that will help me get better. I've been on meds since just after noon and I feel a lot better already. I'm very tired, though, so I think it might be a couple of days (hopefully that's all) to get back into the groove. Hoping to get back to the gym day after tomorrow. Praying for a speedy recovery! Tue, 8 Jan 2013 20:30:38 EST Road Bump http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5195712 So I finally got into a nice groove at the gym, only to be sidelined with whatever's going around these days. I'm on day 3 and although improved from days 1 & 2 and still not ready lace up my gym shoes. It doesn't appear to be the flu, just a really nasty cold, but I fel worse the more I move around. So, I'm doing something out of character...I'm resting a LOT and taking care of me (not an easy task when you homeschool all your kids, so they're home ALL day!). Ok, they've been good at tak... Mon, 7 Jan 2013 20:16:23 EST Happy New Year! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5187710 I'm slow to post today, not wanting to be another failed New Year's Resolution-er. I've looked back at my posts here recently and wow, talk about ups and downs!

I'm so happy to say, that I was able to join a gym near the end of November. Although I haven't really lost any weight, I have dropped a pants size (yippee!!) and I certainly feel better and more energized. I just looked at my log and I went to the gym 12 times last month, which is HUGE for me! I drastically reduced my ... Thu, 3 Jan 2013 08:43:04 EST Plugging along http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4589157 It's hard to believe, but I'm already in my 3rd trimester! I continued my walking through the summer, but have been bad about it since. I ended up losing a total of 11 lbs before the pregnancy started taking over. I'm still not quite at my pre-pregnancy weight of 205, but I have crossed the 200 thresh hold on the upswing already. No complaints here. I'm thrilled that I shed 11 lbs in my first 1 1/2 trimesters (you'll have to see my previous posts) and I'm thrilled that it's not piling on... Thu, 17 Nov 2011 19:58:46 EST Progress http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4396385 I met with my midwife again almost a month ago. My thyroid numbers did come back normal, but she made the decision to treat me based on my symptoms. I took a 1/2 dose for the first 4 days and then a full dose since then. Within a week, almost all of my fatigue was gone...and I'm still in my first trimester! That's like a miracle in itself! But really, this wasn't just first trimester fatigue I'm talking about. Been there, experienced that 4 times already. This was just really bad. It'... Sat, 30 Jul 2011 19:09:42 EST Our family's growing!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4328041 So, here's the scoop:

We're expecting again! Yep, baby #5 is due to arrive in Feb 2012, so I'll be saying goodbye to Sparkpeople for awhile!

On another hugely positive note, I have a new midwife who is also a naturopathic doctor. She asked about my weight issues since having babies. I'll try to give you the short of it:

Baby #1: preggo at 130, delivered @ 180, dropped to 160
Baby #2: preggo at 160, delivered @ 190, dropped to 160
Baby #3: preggo a... It seemed like everything was against me yesterday daytime, then I had to get groceries last night, and I just didn't have the heart to do anything at 10:00 last night. That's ok, today's another day.

So, I had planned a date night for hubby & I tonight. We went roller skating for the first time in 8? years!! There's a new place 1/2 hour from us called Skate Escape that we visited. Super friendly peop... Fri, 6 May 2011 21:17:41 EST Commitment http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4211754 As I was getting sleepy last night around 9:00, it dawned on me that I hadn't met my goal of 10 minutes of exercise for the day. In the past, I'd just forget about it and make sure to hit it the next day...but I didn't! I pulled out a DVD and did a 20 minute yoga routine!

Go me!!

244 Thu, 5 May 2011 09:23:45 EST Ch Ch Changes http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4209263 I'm hesitant to post already, since it's only been 3 days. But, I've gotten my 10 minutes minimum exercise in each day, and I've gotten at least 7 hours of sleep each night. I also have not had any soda this week, despite the Mtn. Dew that's been sitting in my fridge since Thursday.

I've noticed that I'm feeling tired a bit earlier in the evenings this week and the best part was, I listened! Normally if I feel tired, I push through and end up not hitting the hay til midnight. I... Wed, 4 May 2011 09:41:44 EST I learned something about myself today! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4202626 So, I finally bought "The Spark"! I'm currently in chapter 2 and it is fantastic! Here are a few things I've learned so far:

1. I totally misunderstood the Fast Break program. Not sure how I missed it, but I did. Upon reading the book, I realized that I'm to choose ONE of the 3 categories as a beginning goal. That may be small, but it was HUGE to me. You see, I love lists and checking things off once accomplished. When I clicked on the Fast Break goals page and saw all those... Sun, 1 May 2011 15:35:51 EST Changes http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3939967 Like almost every other person on the face of this earth, I made a New Years' Resolution to lose weight. I find myself thinking differently this time around, though. I don't really care how long it takes.

In the past, if I did a DVD with a 6 week routine, for instance, I would push to get it all done in that 6 week time frame, beating myself up if I "fell behind". I think I'm learning to do this in my time, on my own terms.

My current thinking is along the lines of.... Wed, 19 Jan 2011 09:00:09 EST I did it!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3636402 I am so proud of myself! I have a horrible time with follow-through! Anyway, I got up yesterday morning and exercised...yep...first thing. Well, second thing, my son woke earlier than usual, so had to feed him first.

I also made it through the first day of the green smoothie challenge. The recipe I used was 2 cups water, 2 cups romaine, 3 bananas. My kids almost had to pick me up off of the floor...it was really good! No gag reflex! :) Anyway, the program recommends 4 per d... Tue, 14 Sep 2010 08:10:27 EST I'm at it again.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3631669 Yep, here we go again. Since I blogged last, I've added a baby and a substantial number of pounds to this frame. Yikes! Anyway, our first son, Aaron Joseph arrived (very quickly!!) last November 5th. Yes, he'll be 1 year in just a month & a half (ish). Crazy how time flies. We're still homeschooling here, this year is 4th, 2nd, and K...and crawling! Life is just never dull around here, not that I'd really want it to be. A bit quieter now and then, perhaps.

This weekend I we... Sun, 12 Sep 2010 21:08:11 EST Why? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1295749 Why do I have such a hard time with this weight loss thing? It is absolutely THE most frustrating thing I've ever done in my entire life. Why is it so easy to gain, and so hard to lose?

I've found myself crazy busy for the last month. I like being busy, but this was insane. I never dreamed how busy end of school would be with 2 kids in school, with year-end field trips for both, separate field days for both that I helped with (yep, I'm one of the 3 legged obstacle course winner... Thu, 26 Jun 2008 14:31:04 EST Taking Care of ME http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1176149 Well, tonight's workout is not meant to be. I'm still feeling horribly from this head cold and now the bod is just aching all over. I don't believe the ache is from last night's workout, just feels differently, like the sick ache when you're really coming down with something.

So...it's the end of April, which means I need to wrap up the remainder of my Pampered Chef shows. So, I've been on the phone for the last 1/2 hour and have managed to contact almost everyone I need to. It... Tue, 29 Apr 2008 19:53:26 EST It's that time of year again! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1174637 Yup...for head colds!!! We had absolutely beautiful weather here the last 2 weeks in NH...we hit 80's last week and the normal temps for this time of year is 60's. So, of course, the up & down temps...it's chilly & raw & rainy this week...leads to our lovely colds, which both Jay & I now have. He went to bed with his the other night & I woke up with one this morning. BUT, I've logged in my breakfast (not much, just toast & tea...oh, and Tylenol!!), and have finished 1 water bottle so far.... Tue, 29 Apr 2008 09:13:32 EST I Did It! I'm So Proud of Me!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1173857 Well, I did it! I stayed focused and got in my hour workout tonight, yeehaw!!! I went over my upper calorie range by 527, but I burned 498 with my workout, so I don't feel too badly. Actually, I don't feel a bit bad at all. If you've read my earlier blogs, you'll notice that I'm very flighty...I act before I think, which translates into I eat before I add!!! I'm usually WAY over my limit!!! So...go me!

Oh, and if we want to be really technical, I burned more than 498. I did ... Mon, 28 Apr 2008 21:34:00 EST Getting back into the swing of things http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1172281 I've been around the site, lurking mostly, for the last 2 months. I've just been lazy about doing anything, even exercise, and it's certainly showing in my clothing sizes!

Well, you know we got that email last week or so regarding the Spark member featured in USA Today? Well, I read the article and there was a blog listed there for someone else named Claudia. To my knowledge, she's not a Spark member, but you never know. Anyway, her blog is titled Route 237, which, she says, is... Ok, so we're eating supper last night and talking about Spark stuff. We had ham steak from a recipe here (which was fabulous, by the way), along with peas, cranberry sauce, stuffing, and French bread. So, we weighed the ham, measured the peas, I passed on the stuffing which I love but knew I didn't have calories for. BUT, I had 4 servings of the French Bread!

So, it's time to get real, as Dr. Phil says. Jay (Tinkerer) said his weight keeps going down little by li... For the last 3 (4 really) weeks, I've alternated Low-Intensity Cardio and Strength & Sculpt. Now, I'm alternating High-Intensity and Boot Camp. Ouch!

I watched Boot Camp last night to see what I was up for and got up first thing this morning and got 'er done! I'm Losing my Britches!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=923503 Ok, so I've been exercising fairly consistently since the beginning of the year. My plan is M-Sat and I've only missed 4 days, which for me is amazing. BUT, I haven't lost an ounce, really. I lose, I go back up, you know the routine. I've been doing some weights, so I know that muscle weighs more, yadda, yadda, yadda. I know all those drills.

Well, I was dressing for church yesterday and put on a nice pair of dress pants (yeah, about 4 weeks old, too) and they're HUGE, ENORMOU... Yup, everything's going well with my workouts, when whadya know, the VCR/DVD dies....and on a night when hubby (Tinkerer) is on duty at the fire station. He works 24hr shifts, so wasn't off duty until 7 the next morning. Yuk. Well, it is because I haven't planned my meals and therefore have gone over my calories for the last 3 days in a row! Yikes!! So, my plan is to PLAN my meals...ahead of time! Log it in before I eat it, so I won't go over. What a concept, but I think I got it!

The other thing I figured out (go figure), is that I burn calories all day, not just while exercising. Huh, never really thought about it before. Today I decided to wear my heart rate monitor all day to s... Fri, 4 Jan 2008 10:39:30 EST (no title) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=877886 This year is going to be a healthier one for me. My husband joined Spark last night (Tinkerer), so we'll be plugging along together. I've joined a few new teams this morning, as well as SparkAmerica2008, so will join a challenge or 2...and hopefully follow through with them. I'm terrible about following through with things!

For now, moving a little each day and drinking my water will be my focus. I've gained 20 pounds since I was here last, currently at 182(ish)...2lbs heavier than when I delivered my oldest daughter 6 years ago. I had to go buy size 16 pants the other day as my dress pants & khakis are now skin tight, although my 14 jeans fit ok (not great, but ok!).

So, I'm hoping to get back on track. I think I make things more difficult than they need to be. I keep thinking I should go back to Weight Watcher... Wed, 5 Dec 2007 17:42:39 EST
