NEELIXNKES's SparkPeople Blog NEELIXNKES's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Dinner Plan 10/16-10/22 Ok - I have been awful about planning this month and sticking to anything that I do plan so far. Back to it - Life gets in the way but it needs to not supersede cleaning out the freezer or making sure that I eat an actual meal this week (or any week for that matter).

Sunday: Punt/Fend for yourself or out

Monday: BBQ spiced chicken in the crockpot with Red Rice and veggies

Tuesday: Beef stroganoff over gluten free noodles with extra mushrooms, onions and green ... Tue, 6 Sep 2016 13:43:28 EST Summer Pantry Challenge Redux So instead of calling it a failure since we did get some items cleaned out - DH and I just decided to change the start date until Monday August 8th. We see the light at the end of the tunnel for busy weekends and family functions so hoping that we can spend some time getting things accomplished around the house that have been put off this year. The big one is meal planning. I went through some of the snacks today and got rid of things that were picked out free from work but were past the expi... Sun, 7 Aug 2016 17:31:51 EST My Summer Pantry Challenge So it seems that we have let a bunch of items build up again and I don't want to have to throw anything more out. Work had slowed down so there really wasn't an excuse for not cooking except for the actual action part of it. I've been very, very lazy on all fronts lately with very little energy besides that needed to actually get up and leave the house in the morning for work. I need to get up and move more so part of that is going to be actually cooking again.

Week 1 - Clean out t... Tue, 12 Jul 2016 00:26:07 EST Feb Recap/March Goals So during the month of February I didn't do too badly. I tracked my food intake more than I have in a long time but I didn't meet the 5 times a week goal except for 2 of the weeks. I did log at least 4 days a week the rest of the month. I didn't do that well on the reducing sitting on the weekends for a variety of reasons. This is something that I definitely want to work on again in March. It is tough though because I am working a bunch of overtime at the moment and have a feeling it will be... Tue, 1 Mar 2016 21:00:36 EST February Goals Hello Blog World - It's been awhile.

I really need to buckle down and get some work done this month. It is going to be a bit hard because I do celebrate my birthday this month but hopefully I will be able to limit the celebrating to 2 days. I think it is doable.

My birthday present to myself was finally getting highlights - it is one of my 16 things to do this year.

I ... Sun, 31 Jan 2016 21:34:23 EST September Goals 17 Finish CE by 9/15.
311 Min 4 flights of stairs a day - 160 flights for the month
273 Take fish oil and iron daily
140 Gluten free daily - I've been slipping again.
331 50 miles logged for the month

I'm in a step challenge this month. Since we can convert other activities to steps, I'm hoping to actually meet the goal. I did walk more than the final total of steps last year but with my "stress reaction... Wed, 2 Sep 2015 08:22:29 EST August Recap My Goals for the month were:

311 Get outside and walk 2x per week this month. - I did well with this until I didn't feel well.
436 Complete at least 150 flights of stairs this month. - My fitbit was acting off for several days this month - it's time to look for a new one but it logged 153 floors for the month and I have 158 recorded.
301 Track food at least 4 days a week this month. - Failed miserably

ETA - I just realize... Wed, 2 Sep 2015 08:09:42 EST Goals for August So I'm a bit leary setting up a lot of goals for August since I'm still not feeling that great but I think these would be good ones -

311 Get outside and walk 2x per week this month.
436 Complete at least 150 flights of stairs this month.
301 Track food at least 4 days a week this month.

ETA - I just realized that I have to complete 21 hours of CE this month and can't take any time off from work to complete a whole day class.... Sun, 2 Aug 2015 14:13:04 EST July Recap So July did not turn out the way that I had hoped. I noticed a pattern - I tend to get abdominal pain issues around the middle of July - just about every year. I wish I knew if there was something that triggered it. This time I'm not so sure but I did have to have a ct scan. So far everything is clear but my dr thinks I split my ab muscles either from vomiting or exercising/lifting incorrectly and that is part of the problem. I have to go to physical therapy but I also have to follow up on an... Sun, 2 Aug 2015 13:51:23 EST Goals for July I am trying something a bit different with my goals this month.

These are the goals I set for the July Challenge for the 40 somethings team.

Daily Goals:

267 4 servings minimum of freggies per day
311 2 - 10 minute walks per day
436 minimum 3 flights of stairs per day

Weekly Goal:

149 Read a minimum of 75 minutes per week

I'm adding one more here because I really nee... Sun, 5 Jul 2015 19:02:38 EST Trying not to panick - I was just sitting here - enjoying a lazy morning off and then it dawned on me - I have exactly 3 months until my niece's wedding. 39 so much for being in Onederland by then. I will be very lucky if I can just get back to under 240.

Focus - Determination - Sweat - Tracking -

Those will get me at least there right? Fri, 3 Jul 2015 11:07:36 EST What a week - It wasn't a bad week in terms of family issues or work issues (though there were some) but dang it was a hard week food craving wise. I have spent most of everyday this week fighting off onion ring and pizza cravings. I haven't wanted bread more in this gluten free journey than this week. Everything that is yummy about grains and foods with gluten came to light this week and yet somehow I managed to make it to this point without indulging. I was so close yesterday to just throwing in the to... Sat, 9 May 2015 17:21:23 EST Made it! 8 weeks Gluten Free!! I didn't think that I would make it to this point. I really was struggling to get started earlier this year. It took me almost 5 months to really get on track to stay gluten free long term. I have at least 4 weeks left since the Dr said to try for 90 days minimum (she would rather I went 6 months) and then do a challenge to see how it effects me weight wise and heartburn wise. At the moment I am using less heartburn meds and I am down about 15lbs since my heaviest point of this year. I hones... Sun, 3 May 2015 11:16:29 EST Only 5 months left, how did that happen? So my niece is getting married in 5 months. I had wanted to be in One-derland by that time but I doubt that will happen. I can try though right? At the moment, I am just happy being out of the range that I have been stuck in for over a year. Now to keep it rolling. I don't know if it is the gluten free diet or if it is the change in blood pressure meds or a combination. Whatever it is, I will take it.

I don't really want to relax my goal though because I'm afraid then I will lose ... Sat, 2 May 2015 10:46:31 EST Not really feeling it - Today I am pretty bummed out. The day started out okay but is going downhill quickly. Lots to do and no desire to do it. I'm back in the darn robo boot for at least another 2 weeks and for the most part it helps my foot feel better. It still is depressing. Why is it that as soon I as I start making progress with exercise and/or house projects that need to be done standing up - the foot just says HaHa fooled you, you aren't capable. I'm grateful at the moment that it is not a stress fracture... Sat, 25 Apr 2015 16:36:49 EST Fake it until you become it Amy Cuddy did a Ted Talk a few years back and I ran across it today. It's pretty powerful and motivating. I tried power posing for a few minutes a few times over the past month (blame Grey's Anatomy) but what I learned is that on those really rough days - it did make an impact, even if it was to stop me from adding to my misery for the day.

Here is the link to the Ted Talk.

uriQUzE

I think I might use the power p... Sun, 12 Apr 2015 00:52:59 EST April Goals Accountability Record I hope you don't mind - I need a bit more accountability at the moment, if I know I have to post it - it will get done.

04/01 - Picked up around the dining room and the living room, tracked, 15 fitness minutes. Fri, 3 Apr 2015 00:16:30 EST Goals for April I honestly don't remember if I set any goals for March. I have only lost 2.4 lbs this year so I am striving to be more consistent and work on overall healthy habits during the month of April.

While it doesn't have anything to do with weightloss it most definitely impacts my mental well being which in turn impacts how I behave on the the weight loss front so in April one of my main goals is working on decluttering our house. I have been depressed about the condition of our home for... Sun, 15 Mar 2015 13:00:28 EST Cauliflower Pea Soup I made this the other day to help boost my green veggie intake.
I enjoyed it - DH not so much, however, he is willing to try a new version of it that I found that adds lemon and mint.

ews/-creamy-cauliflower-pea-soup-50167891

I'm not sure where I found this recipe originally but I found it posted on epicurious. Sun, 8 Mar 2015 19:35:27 EST January Recap/February Goals January seemed to go by in a flurry. I don't know if it is just because I have been sick for a week or what. I didn't accomplish much this month at all.

I didn't finish cleaning the cabinets or the freezers. I did earn over 2400 sparkpoints. I did finish the challenges I was in but didn't have a great last week in either of them. So sparkwise - this was a good month but not stellar. I am down about 5 lbs but still in the same bouncing range I have been. Hopefully next month I will ... Mon, 2 Feb 2015 09:32:34 EST Sunday 01/25 - goals and such Wow - it is noon here already and I haven't made it very far today. Sun, 11 Jan 2015 09:37:48 EST Happy 2015! Hope that everyone had a fabulous holiday season. I don't know about you but I need to buckle down and get to work. I don't want to be the weight I am right now at my niece's wedding in October. I am embarking on the gluten free experiment requested by my doctros and actually made it completely gluten free yesterday. My weight was down about 1.6 lbs this morning so this may be interesting. It was back to my previous weight from last week.

We have been working on cleaning out the ca... Sun, 4 Jan 2015 12:09:39 EST So - another month has gone by... and I gained weight again I'm sure. Hopefully the scale will be slightly nice to me tomorrow but I doubt it. I didn't eat well for the past few days.

December is already looking to be a bit of a crazy month but hopefully I will still be able to make great strides. I joined a simple challenge that is just dancing 10 min per day and drinking my water goal daily. I think I can handle both of those. One of the hardest things right now though is figuring out what is causing an almost daily sour stomach. It doesn't matter what I eat, I wake up with horrible indigestion. I thought it was the new GERD medicine I was on but now that I have gone off of it for more than just 3 days, I still have the problem. I don't understand at all. It seems worse when I eat fresh veggies too which is not good. I have to schedule an endoscopy. I was hoping to put it ...
