Lose ten pounds.
192
My net loss since starting this goal is 3.2 pounds. I'm one-third of the way to my goal for this season! I met and exceeded my mini-goal to lose one pound this week.

2. Get 1000 minutes of exercise.
386
I'm up to 454 minutes, almost half way already! I was only able to make two visits to my fitness center this week, but th... Sun, 21 Oct 2012 09:09:11 EST Moving Right Along This week has gone by so quickly that it's been a blur. The goals are still works in progress, but things are moving in the right direction, at least.
1. Lose ten pounds.
55
The scale moved in the downward direction this week for a change! I still have a ways to go to hit my goal, but I'm at least moving the right way at the moment.

2. Get 1000 minutes of exercise.
331
Minutes so far: 393! This is fantastic considering I've had ... Sun, 14 Oct 2012 13:58:08 EST Checking In It's been a busy week, but I know that I need to keep myself on track here. This week's updates are...

1. Lose ten pounds.
24
No progress to report this week. I haven't been keeping up with my nutrition journal as I should and it shows. The scale and I are not on speaking terms today.

2. Get 1000 minutes of exercise.
314
This week I had a showdown with the elliptical trainer at my fitness center. It won a brief five minu... Sun, 7 Oct 2012 09:50:30 EST Updates Last week I posted two goals for the fall season and it's time to check in on those...

1. Lose ten pounds.
225
I said last week that my starting point was 210.6 and of course, the next day's weigh in showed a weight of 213.8. Unfortunately, water weight sometimes plagues me and this is one of those times. The good news is that I've dropped back to 212 with this week's weigh in. Still a bit over my starting point, but that's okay - you can't win them all.... Sun, 30 Sep 2012 11:58:24 EST Restart, Reset, Redo, and Just Reduce 249 Again?!?!

I've fallen off and jumped back on this particular bandwagon so many times that it's almost embarrassing. Even so, I know that I keep much better tabs on my weight, exercise, and nutrition when I track them here. So, picking back up again after quite awhile away.

It's the first day of autumn today, so I'm going to set a couple of goals for myself for the season:
1. Lose ten pounds. - I don't think this is a lot considering I'm allowing ... Sat, 22 Sep 2012 22:02:29 EST The Clock is Ticking 128

I'm back both here on SparkPeople and on the weight loss bandwagon. I'm setting for myself some short term goals to be completed by my next doctor's appointment in November.

Short Term Goals:
1. Get weight under 200 pounds.
2. Get at least one hour per week of solid aerobic exercise.
3. By doing above, get blood pressure under 120/80.

That's it, the short and sweet but vitally important list. Sun, 25 Jul 2010 08:25:03 EST One More Time... With Feeling 15

Sometimes, life just takes over. I've been absent from Spark for far too long and in that absence, have lost much of my old focus on weight loss and well-being. Today, however, I am giving myself permission to have a "do-over" and start again fresh. So, starting today, I'm back to food journaling, weight tracking, and exercise logs. Go me! Fri, 23 Jul 2010 15:46:02 EST This Week (Month?) in Review 198
Somehow, I've let this blog get away from me over the last few weeks. This update will be brief, however.

Pounds lost since re-starting on Winter Solstice: 10

WOOHOO. Ten pounds in a season is great progress for me. Considering it took me approximately 5 years to lose the first fifty pounds, I'm really proud of this effort. What's more, I'm down to a size 14 in pants for the first time in over a decade. I was wearing 20's at my highest weight ... Sun, 15 Mar 2009 13:11:47 EST The Week in Review 486
French fries... yummy golden, salty delicious French fries. These auric sticks of deep-fried delight are a bane of my existence. My efforts to avoid fried foods have been nothing short of heroic and I've avoided any semblance of fried anything for the last month. Friday night, I had 5 French fries (not the fast food variety, but proper hand cut, restaurant style). For the next four hours, I suffered through bronchial misery. I'd always theorized that fried foods produ... Sun, 8 Feb 2009 09:07:11 EST This Week In Review Not a lot to report, I'm afraid. Down a bit with a weight, but haven't been to the gym recently. Sigh.

So here's this week's breakdown:
Pounds lost: 1.5
Days Stayed within Target Calorie Range: 7
Glasses of Water Drank: 56
Miles Tread: 0
Miles Peddled: 0
Number of gym visits: 0
Overall progress: Not bad. Still not drinking soda and I haven't eaten fast food since before New Year's. My goal was to drop a pound per week, which means that a... Sun, 1 Feb 2009 09:23:45 EST This Week in Review 192
The scale has moved again... hooray! I've been lax about exercising and have been paying for it with sleeping difficulties and a bit of anxiety. I know better and there's no excuse other than laziness for not going to the gym. I'm planning to get back into a work-out routine during the coming week.

So here's this week's breakdown:
Pounds lost: 3
Days Stayed within Target Calorie Range: 7
Glasses of Water Drank: 56
Miles Tread: 0
M... Sun, 25 Jan 2009 10:14:20 EST The Little Things... 222
Something that I've forgotten to mention recently soda (aka pop, cola, fizzy sugary drinks). After looking at the number of sodas I'd been drinking (anywhere from 8 to 32 ounces per day), I decided that this would be a good thing to eliminate from my diet. Because of allergy/intolerance issues, diet soda is out of the question, so there's no temptation to down that less-than-healthy alternative.

So at the start of the year, I stopped drinking soda and haven't t... Mon, 19 Jan 2009 09:11:02 EST This Week in Review 198

So, why hasn't the scale budged in two weeks? Why is my weight sitting solidly at 214.5 and refusing to move? The questions are rhetorical, but I can still answer them. I failed miserably at keeping myself moving this week. No gym visits, no long walks, nothing. Too much time in front of the TV and online. I stayed in my calorie range every day, drank water, but was a lazy butt. I own responsibility for my scale's failure to please me. I will do better in the ... Sun, 18 Jan 2009 13:33:27 EST Virtual Walks - The Kerry Way I've been lax about posting updates to my virtual walk, mostly because I've been doing other aerobic exercises and not a lot of walking as a form of exercise. Since my regular daily mileage isn't going toward the virtual totals, I'm only up to 3.02 miles so far (about 4.8 km). This means that I'm still plugging along the route between Killarney and Black Valley, somewhere in Killarney National Park. Progress is slow, but I'm still in forward motion!

137 Wed, 14 Jan 2009 11:25:49 EST The Week in Review 24
Sigh, sometimes you can do everything right and still be defeated. I behaved myself this week, keeping within my caloric goal ranges every day and more than doubling my work-out time from the previous week.

Ideally, I should have dropped a couple of pounds but no, not a pound shed. In fact, I'm a half-pound up from where I was on New Year's day. At least the reason is not a mystery... water-retention. Ugh. My favorite ring, which is normally a little loose ... Sun, 11 Jan 2009 10:42:16 EST Mirrors Don't Lie 202
Something happened today that hasn't occurred in several years and when it did, I did a double-take. While getting dressed at the gym, I caught sight of myself naked in a full length mirror. Eeeek, the mirror shattered. The End.

Not really. I did catch a glance of myself in the mirror sans clothes. The last time that happened I was fifty pounds heavier. The last time that happened I hated what I saw and cried...a lot. Today I nearly cried, but only of tear... Tue, 6 Jan 2009 19:30:45 EST The Week in Review 283
Another week has come and gone and with it, the calendar has turned over to a brand new year. Everyone I know is making resolutions, which I'm pretty sure will be forgotten by mid-February. I can resolve to lose weight in 2009 but simply saying I'm going to do it isn't enough. For me, having a plan is important, as are to-do lists (or the occasional to-don't lists... don't drink soda, don't be hard on yourself when you slip up). It works for me.

One of my i... Sun, 4 Jan 2009 12:01:42 EST Virtual Walk - The Kerry Way Well, it's been a week since I started my virtual walk around the Kerry Way and have departed from the lovely city of Killarney and am en route to Black Valley. This means that I've crossed over the River Flesk (hello fishies!) and trod my way briefly along side horse-drawn jaunting cars down a gravel path. This means I'm heading into the beautiful Killarney National Park and...
198
I'm such a dork! I keep forgetting to wear my pedometer when I walk. So, I'm only goin... Wed, 31 Dec 2008 18:21:07 EST The Week In Review 192
Who in the world would be foolish enough to start a new fitness plan during one of the biggest holiday weeks of the year? That would be me. D'oh!

Between wine and food for Solstice celebrations and the inevitable Christmas feasts and cookies, I wasn't expecting much out of my weekly weigh-in today. Joy, oh, joy, in spite of not being on my best behavior, I've shed a pound and a half. I actually stayed in my goal range for caloric intake and only had one day wh... Sun, 28 Dec 2008 09:56:35 EST The Gym Membership 231
My employer provides a free gym membership- huzzah! Today I stopped making excuses and went over for my membership card and a quick facility tour. That was the first time I'd set foot in a gym in over two and a half years. the prospect of working out at the gym is both exciting and intimidating. I know that it's going to take time to get back into the routine, but it's a good first step.

In other fitness news, I did a mile hike today through my favorite woods... Sat, 27 Dec 2008 14:48:37 EST Virtual Walk - Christmas In Killarney To help motivate me to get back into a regular walking routine, I'm going to do a virtual walk in which I track my actual walking mileage against a route map of a place I'd love to actually trek someday: the Kerry Way in western Ireland.

137 The Kerry Way is a circular route that begins and ends in Killarney and roughly follows a route similar to the Ring of Kerry driving route. Unfortunately, I missed traveling either of these when visiting Ireland a few years ago, so... Wed, 24 Dec 2008 19:46:29 EST It's a Do Over! 249
Winter officially begins today and with it, I'm re-setting all SparkPeople goals back to zero. A few days into my new job, I stopped keeping track of my health and nutrition goals. Thanks to that same job, I'm back with a renewed enthusiasm. Where I work, a weight-loss team challenge will be starting shortly after then new year and I've signed up with three of my fabulous co-workers to be a part of it.

Since I normally start a new list of goals with each ne... Sun, 21 Dec 2008 18:04:45 EST Week Ending 7/13 179 Happy birthday to me! Ok, so the b-day was on Wednesday, but I'm still celebrating.

This week's weigh in... 217 pounds, which is up one pound from last week. I'm not too concerned with the increase. I know I've had a couple of days this week where I've indulged in things I shouldn't (sugar cookies, dammit!). I did get a good hour's worth of exercise in yesterday, in addition to my usual Saturday activities.

Good news on the job front... started on Fri... Sun, 13 Jul 2008 10:51:33 EST Week Ending 7/6 I haven't managed a daily post as I'd originally intended, so I'm playing catch-up today. What a hectic, but fantastic week in my world!

First, the weekly weigh-in... 216 pounds this morning (BMI now at 32.8). That means I've dropped four pounds this week (hoorah for loosing retained water). What makes me really happy is that I've avoided the trap of eating to ameliorate the high stress levels I've experienced this week. Instead of giving in to the temptation to dive into car... Sun, 6 Jul 2008 11:20:54 EST My Horoscope From my horoscope today:
"Don't get discouraged if you haven't been as diligent with a health routine as you could be. The important thing is that you get back on that horse, my dear. Keep your eyes on the prize."

I think the astrologer who wrote that is running a day behind. I needed that pep talk yesterday, not today. LOL!

30 Tue, 1 Jul 2008 15:35:12 EST Can Do, Will Do I started wondering last night what went wrong and why I started slipping away from diligently focusing on the goals that I set for myself here. Was it stress I wondered. Was it just laziness on my part? Did I simply not have enough time in the day? I pondered over this for way too long last night, chewing at it until I finally went to sleep.

When I woke up this morning, I realized something very important. It doesn't matter why I stopped tracking my goals. Worrying about the... Mon, 30 Jun 2008 16:25:51 EST Back Again Admittedly, I've fallen off the Spark bandwagon. Going to try again and see what happens. Setting everything back to square one, I think. 24 Sun, 29 Jun 2008 14:52:08 EST Setbacks? What Setbacks? I knew it... I should have waited a day to do my official weekly weigh-in. Water retention does screwy things to my weight. After two dozen trips to the bathroom in the last 24 hours (TMI, sorry), I've dropped 2-1/2 pounds since yesterday morning. That actually means I've lost 1/2 pound this week. Since I'm still shedding that excess water, I'm actually looking forward to next Sunday's weigh-in. Setback? What setback? :) Mon, 21 Jan 2008 12:49:48 EST Minor Setbacks The week was going along swimmingly... then the hormones took over and I gained over two pounds of water weight in three days. I've managed to keep within the recommended caloric intake range and been fairly active. Feeling frustrated at the moment, because today was weigh-in and I'm now back where I started (actually, one pound over where I started). Sigh.

I know that the work I'm doing is actually good for me and that weight is only one indicator of where I am. There are oth... Sun, 20 Jan 2008 19:03:19 EST Forget the Butler... It wasn't the butler that killed my diet... it was the Peppermint Mocha coffee that I had today. This is the first day that I've exceeded my calorie intake goal since I've started tracking it. The mocha was divine, warm and sprinkled with cinnamon. Sigh, at least I skipped the whipped cream. No more mochas this month... Is it February yet?!?! Wed, 16 Jan 2008 20:29:18 EST Title 9 Catalog Arrived Today I don't know how I ended up on their mailing list, but I've been receiving Title 9 catalogs for a while now. Confronted with glossy page upon page of very cute active/sports wear and photos and bios of healthy, sports-loving women, I tend to go into shut-down mode and look for the nearest sweet snack that I can find. At this point, I might be able to barely squeeze into their XL clothing (size 16), but only if they are very loose and I don't mind looking like a sack of potatoes stuffed into...
