Hope everyone had a wonderful New Year's Eve, and a great start to 2014! I'm going to do my best to keep my blog here updated. I need to write updates and just "in general" posts more often.

Getting back into a routine slowly. My weight has stayed the same, even was back down to 135 for a few days. I tend to stick between 135 and 140 which is good for me. Need to work on consistency with my workouts. I slacked off for a bit there.

Will start with the updates very soon, a... Wed, 1 Jan 2014 13:55:55 EST Vacation Recaps - Atlanta We went to Atlanta at the end of May to see my family. My sister, her husband, and three kids live in Atlanta, and my parents came up from Miami. We haven’t been back East for about two years, and it was a much needed vacation. The kids had their last day of school the day after we got there. My niece and older nephew were a part of the end of the year talent show. My nephew and his friend did a Tai Kwon Do routine, and my niece was a stagehand for the whole show. They did great! I managed to... Sun, 21 Jul 2013 13:14:48 EST Vacation Recaps - San Ramon, CA I have more to get you all caught up on, but this is not really health related. My husband and I took two vacations this spring. One to the San Francisco area and one to Atlanta. My parents came out to CA for one of my dad’s band activities. He’s played saxaphone since he was a kid, and has belonged to the Greater Miami Symphonic band. He plays second chair and has been in the band for 30 some odd years. I think he started playing in this band when I was about 7 years old. So, at least 31 yea... Sat, 20 Jul 2013 15:34:09 EST Remembering Monty

Where to begin. This is a difficult post to write. Monty was a huge inspiration to a lot of members on Spark. He was a leader of several teams on Spark, including the Virtual Walk/Run Challenge team.

ndividual.asp
(Not sure why the link won't work) He was a member of several more teams as well. Tue, 16 Jul 2013 09:24:41 EST Getting Caught Up Health-Wise Part Three This is the last health update I have I think, and it’s a big breakthrough. In my past posts (I’m talking 4 years ago at least) I’ve said I have bad balance. In the last few years I’ve said that I have a fear of falling and bad balance. Back in January, maybe February, I came to the realization, that while yes my balance is bad, it’s nowhere near as bad as I thought it was. My main problem is the fear of falling.

During the early part of 2013, my husband and I started to work on my... Thu, 4 Jul 2013 15:03:46 EST Getting Caught Up Health-Wise Part Two On deck for today is to talk about “finding the solution”. Solution to what you may be asking. I’ve talked about this before, what I call “the jerk move”. This is when I experience several days (or weeks, or even months) of feeling like I’m being pulled backward and to the left. If you’re new to my blog here at Spark, let me give you a bit of background on me. I have ataxic cerebral palsy. My CP impacts my balance first and foremost, but it also impact the use of my left leg and right hand. I... Wed, 3 Jul 2013 15:21:54 EST Getting Caught Up Health-Wise Part One Holy moly, has it been a long time since I’ve actually blogged here. I need to work on that. The good news is, I am getting back into my freelance writing. Bad news is, I feel like I’m all over the place. I have so many ideas that I want to write about, I’m getting overwhelmed by it all. I have a list of topics, and that list just keeps getting longer and longer.

So, I need to just dive in and get started. One of my problems is, I don’t type quick enough. My brain moves too fast fo... Tue, 2 Jul 2013 15:52:14 EST Our New Hobby (Quad Copter) My husband has recently gotten into quad copters and remote control flying. It's a lot of fun! Thu, 8 Mar 2012 17:26:23 EST Week Three Schedule Of Leslie Sansone's 21 Day Challenge (late) I'm in the third and final week of Leslie Sansone's 21 Day Challenge. She normally posts the mileage assignments on Friday nights, but she was late this time around. People on her FaceBook were speculating that she was affected by the storms in the North East (I believe she's somewhere in PA). But the mileage assignments were up on her blog this morning. I'm not too far behind. I did my own thing Saturday and Sunday.

My plan on Saturday was to do 4 miles, but I only did 2. And I ju... Mon, 5 Mar 2012 18:27:49 EST Week Two Schedule Of Leslie Sansone's Challenge So, Leslie posted the schedule for the second week of her 21 day challenge on her blog. Fri, 24 Feb 2012 19:45:33 EST Overdue Update and Leslie Sansone's 21 Day Challenge It's been a really long time since my last blog. I did that video blog a few weeks ago, but that doesn't count. Update on that whole anxiety thing. The "hesitate, jerk and go move" is still there. but the anxiety isn't as bad. I'm still working on it. Thank you to those who commented. I should probably do another video like that for another problem area I have, but I can't record it myself. I've gotten into my bad habit again of getting on my knees. I need to stop it, but that anxiety about f... Thu, 23 Feb 2012 17:01:37 EST Having Issuse: Video Demonstration Ok. First of all, yes it has been a long time since my last blog or vlog. And I have to laugh because my last blog was about this same exact thing. My confidence and balance is off.

I've tried in the past to explain what happens, but I think by actually SHOWING you what happens might help a bit.

I looked at the video after I did it, and it doesn't seem like a big deal at all. But when I'm going through it, my anxiety is so high. Hard to breath, heart pounding. I feel lik... Wed, 8 Feb 2012 16:42:03 EST Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway And that's exactly what I did. For the last 5 days or so, I've been having bad balance issues (even worse than usual). I've been avoiding certain things because of the fear of the falling sensation I described in yesterday's blog. But I knew I had to keep moving or it would just get worse.

So, I kept repeating the phrase "feel the fear and do it anyway" which I believe Bob Harper said a time or two on The Biggest Loser (it might have been Jillian though, I can't remember). That phr... Thu, 17 Nov 2011 14:29:04 EST Ramble Ramble Ramble It's been a long time since I did a blog post. First I'd like to thank everyone for commenting and supporting me during my October Operation Overhaul thing I did. I'm still doing my daily goals, and it's helping a bit.

Not sure really what to say. I'm in the midst of one of my "string of bad balance days". It started sometime over the weekend I think, but I really can't say. And it's hard to explain how it feels. I have bad balance anyway, but these string of days I have from time ... Wed, 16 Nov 2011 10:16:36 EST Late OOO Day 31 Recap Well, the last day of my Operation October Overhaul kind of blew up. I had good intentions that day, and actually got my strength training in. Then our cat took a turn for the worse, so I took the day off. Things went downhill from there.

I'm still going to do my daily to do list, but I don't plan on posting them to my blog anymore. I'll do other blog posts soon. Trying to get back into the swing of things a little bit. Did 1/2 mile today on the elliptical so that's something.
... Thu, 3 Nov 2011 16:50:13 EST R.I.P. Tue, 1 Nov 2011 14:40:31 EST OOO Day 30 Recap and Goals For Day 31 Oh my, yesterday was a day of food...junk food. We went to Panera Bread for breakfast and after we ate our normal meal, we brought back some goodies. I got a Cobblestone pastry and my hubby got a babka (?), and also a loaf of mische bread. We don't bring back things from Panera often, so this was a treat.

Got back and I exercised. I made my end of October goal of completing 1/2 mile without stopping. Sat, 29 Oct 2011 09:49:22 EST OOO Day 27 and Goals for Day 28 I made it through last night. I was hungry after dinner, but I was in the lower part of my calorie range. My husband got some cookies for dessert, and it smelled good. But I know if I had gotten one (one white chocolate macadamia nut cookie is 200 cals), I would have felt yucko. They're too sweet generally for me, it's just the smell that got me.

Walking with my walker is still tough. Not sure why my legs feel stuck sometimes. Back is normal again and I have no more spasms. I did .8 mile on the elliptical yesterday in .2 increments. We'll see how long I go today. I was tempted to try a full mile, but that's probably not a smart idea yet. I'll get there though. I think I'll try for my goal of 1/2 mile with no stopping today.

Yesterday's Goals:
Stretch for 10 to 15 minutes - 248
Elliptical for at least .5 mile. It twinged again yesterday morning, but nothing since then. I decided to take yesterday off, even though I really wanted to exercise. I believe it will be OK to exercise today. I plan on skipping my strength training today. Just do the elliptical today and see how it behaves. Found out something about one of the writing sites I write for. It's basically dead in the water for right now. Plan on working on my own stuff and finding other places. Star... Wed, 26 Oct 2011 09:52:04 EST OOO Day 24 Recap and Goals For Day 25 There's no way around this...yesterday sucked. Plain and simple. It started out with good intentions, but went down hill quick. The reason? My back. Muscle spasms in the right lower part of my back prevented me from doing anything. If I tried doing anything physical, it felt like I was getting kicked in my kidney. It wasn't a kidney stone, I've had one of those before, and this was definitely a muscle spasm. So I got nothing done. Seems OK today, but we'll see.

Yesterday's Goals: <...
