MYLADY4's SparkPeople Blog MYLADY4's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Update It’s been a while so here is an update.

Made it through the holidays and finally getting back to boring normal. My SIL stayed with us for two weeks and that wreaked havoc on my sleep. She is so unhealthy and her circadian rhythms so screwed up that she was awake at night in our living room with the lights and TV on then would fall asleep in the middle of the day. This means that I had to keep our door closed to sleep which the cats did NOT like. Scratch, scratch, scratch, mom…….we... Fri, 31 Jan 2014 15:43:28 EST Top 5 reasons athletes get fat, and what you can do about it.

Interesting podcast.

/top-5-reasons-athletes-get-fat-can
Sun, 8 Dec 2013 16:18:23 EST Awesome article on body image after weight loss Excellent article about weight loss and body image issues. Everyone should read this and click on the links to see her pictures.

-tells-you-about-dramatic-weight-loss.
html
Sun, 17 Nov 2013 14:35:14 EST Sleep improvement, whooohoooo So I have been doing all sort of stuff in the effort to get me sleep better, specifically to fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer. I have to say that I think I am getting the best sleep I have in years.

It no longer takes me forever to fall asleep and most days, I stay asleep till around 4:30-5 am and I do not need an alarm clock to wake me plus no meds for sleep.

What have I been doing you ask????

I have been following the suggestions from Dr. Kruse’s ... Fri, 1 Nov 2013 14:47:44 EST As my doc said "Finally at peace in your body" Yes, yes I am.

I think I am finally on the road to getting the hormones fixed. It has been a full month since I have been on a lower dose of Armour and added Cytomel and progesterone and I have to say, I am finally starting to feel better. The brain fog had dramatically improved and energy is starting to come back. The weight gain appears to have finally stopped and may even be starting to head back down. I WILL NOT get on the scale since it does not matter anymore.

Wh... Tue, 1 Oct 2013 13:51:49 EST Results from the Hormone Doctor I saw a new doctor yesterday, specifically a neuropath that deals with hormonal issues in women. I was so freeking nervous about this since I have not had luck with doctors and this issue and even had to deal with some quacks (concentration camp PA). I did manage to NOT weigh in again at a doctor¡¦s office. I just cannot handle that issue right now. I have been working so hard on not letting the scale rule my life it would just not be good for me yet and yes, I am putting my head in the sand ... Tue, 27 Aug 2013 13:39:04 EST Hormones part 1 As many of my long time Spark friends have known, I have been struggling for years and years to get the final bit of weight off. What I was doing and was told to do did not show the results that it should. Calories in versus calories out did NOT work for me. I ended up with an eating disorder and an exercise addiction thanks to my desire to fit what society said women should look like.

About a year ago I was about to go off the deep and just stop eating all together then I heard o... Mon, 26 Aug 2013 12:44:30 EST Too cute not to share Our new kitten Sully loves our old dog Molly. Molly is just so tolerant of him. Sun, 18 Aug 2013 20:16:43 EST Getting closer Last round of hormone testing to be done this weekend. I have the 24 hour saliva testing tomorrow as well as the redoing the estrogen and progesterone testing but on day 21 of my cycle like the test says to do. I am also doing an iodine testing. Once I get these done I should have a pretty good picture of what is going on and why I am still gaining weight, not sleeping though the night, foggy head, tank on empty, no interest in stuff and low libido despite having been doing the Leptin reset a... Fri, 9 Aug 2013 12:47:54 EST My new baby boys....... I got two new kittens this week and OMG are they freeking adorable we can hardly stand it.

A little back story on how we got them. A couple of weeks ago we let my precious Weezy outside on a Monday and she did not show back up on Tuesday which was not like her. She was a stray that made our home hers and for the longest time did not want to go outside till this summer. Never should have let her go outside because something killed her and I did not find her body till Sunday. She wa... Sat, 3 Aug 2013 13:57:07 EST Ughhhh hormones!!!! Man, just got back results from another blood test and boy are some of my hormone levels crud. My thyroid is all off even with being on Armour. I have low leptin levels, low B12, low iron and low DHEA. Based on some feedback I am going to have my female hormones rechecked but at the “optical” time and also going to do a cortisol saliva test and iodine.

I knew there was something still not right and I am pretty sure that they have been off for years now. I am eating right but the w... Fri, 2 Aug 2013 13:49:53 EST Birthday trip to Colorado Pic blog #2 So after a fun rafting ride I had scheduled an afternoon horseback ride in the Rockies. I figured for this trip I would pick stuff that I would like making sure that my DD and DH would like it too. Rafting was for the hubby and horseback riding was for the DD (since she has been riding for years).

We had lunch at the rafting place (which did not agree with me and I bloated up almost immediately) then headed over to the stables. I asked for a horse that had 2 speeds, slow and stop ... Sat, 6 Jul 2013 12:18:55 EST My Birthday trip to Colorado picture blog #1 I turned 40 last week and wanted to do something fun. Since my birthday is in the summer I really have never done anything for my birthday, so no real birthday parties when I was a child with classmates cause it was summer. This year was going to be different and FUN!!!!!!

My SIL lives out in Denver and is not in the best of health so I thought it would be good to go out and see how she was doing and spend some time with her since she has no other "family" out there plus, plane tic... Mon, 1 Jul 2013 21:55:29 EST I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike...... and ride we did yesterday.

We have a BEAUTIFUL biking/walking trail in our area that I just LOVE. Our DD is off at camp this week so I got the hubby to agree to a nice leasure ride on the trail. It was awesome and he even thought it was not bad. Much easier to bike when you are not pulling a 50 pd bike trailer with a 80 pound kid in it.

For anyone close to western Wisconsin who wants to tr... Wed, 19 Jun 2013 11:56:31 EST Non scale victory.....with a swim suit We are heading out to Denver to visit the SIL and do a bunch of outdoor stuff this weekend for my 10th anniversary of my 30th birthday that will be here very very soon. She said to make sure that we bring swimsuits to spend some time down at the pool in her condo….eeeeekkkkkk. I did not have a decent suit. The one I used last year was for the 30+ pounds heavier me, and the one I got for a winter vaca just did not have enough support (my girls are so low they could be from National Geographic…... Mon, 17 Jun 2013 12:08:01 EST Mindset change I started thinking that yesterday was a good day since I was rocking my pair of size 10 white jeans but then I realized that was wrong. I was letting how I felt in a pair of pants determine how I felt for about the day.

So yesterday was a good day since I had a good customer visit at work and I was alive and healthy (never mind that it was raining AGAIN!!!!!!).

Have a great day everyone!!!!

Oh and only 9 days and 20 hours till our vacation in Denver and... Thu, 13 Jun 2013 09:56:24 EST I am a size 10-12 but that does not define me. I am wondering if too many of us have an unrealistic goal of what they should look like and never truly learn to love themselves at a size and shape that is right for them. I have seen many many people on Spark and in real life feel that if they don’t get down to a certain number on a scale of a specific size of pants that they are a failure (I was/am one of them for sure). I am working really hard to love myself and all of the greatness that I am an NOT have my self worth be determined by my... Fri, 7 Jun 2013 13:31:43 EST SIBO......Really, that's what's beeing going on!!! I finally think that I have an answer to what has been going on with my gut and how it seems to have been hating me for years and years and years, SIBO!!!!! That stands for Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth, WTF!!!!!! It basically means that some of the good healthy bacteria that is in the large intestines has made it way up to the small and taken over. Anytime you eat certain fruits, veggies or milk the bacteria devour it and uhmmm produce a lot of waste resulting in bloating, pain, wat... Fri, 24 May 2013 14:56:30 EST NO!!!! I will NOT eat 6 times a day I saw a nutritionist yesterday who specializes in food sensitivities and allergies since I am 99.9% sure that I have something like that going on since my issues seem to be getting worse and I am reacting to way more natural foods (most veggies and fruits). We started talking and I was telling her my history and how I have had an eating disorder and an exercise addiction. I told her that I was now only eating when hungry and eating till and am truly satisfied and not eating according to a sch... Thu, 23 May 2013 17:40:20 EST FODMAP, anyone.....anyone... Anyone heard of this or tried it for relief IBS.

FODMAPs are osmotic (means they pull water into the intestinal tract), may not be
digested or absorbed well and could be fermented upon by bacteria in the intestinal
tract when eaten in excess.
Symptoms of gas, bloating, cramping and/or diarrhea may occur in those who could be
sensitive to the effects of FODMAPs. A low FODMAP diet may help reduce symptoms,
which will limit foods high in fructose, lactose, fr... Tue, 7 May 2013 14:33:23 EST True hunger is OK Wow this week has been a real eye opener for me. Ever since I worked out a couple of weeks ago and the pants started fitting tighter, I started to take a real hard look at what was going on and revisiting some of Robin’s videos. I realized that I was not truly letting myself get hungry or truly full ( getting to a 3-3.5 and up to a 6 on the hunger scale). I was still eating when I was “supposed” to and I think this was not letting the natural hunger hormones (leptin) work.

I have ... Fri, 26 Apr 2013 10:11:02 EST The Dress and jeans......(pics) I did have some non-scale victories as well. A couple of weeks ago we went to Nordstrom’s and just for fun, I tried on some clothes. A goal of mine was to be able to go into there and try on a pair of ridiculously expensive designer jeans and have them fit. I found a pair of size 31 Citizens of Humanity jeans that were $228. I was very nervous but I took them in the dressing room, tried them on and WHOOOHOOO they fit and actually, they were a bit big in the waist. There was NO WAY I would pay... Sun, 7 Apr 2013 11:18:59 EST Food blog 4-6-13 I think I might start posting dinner blogs with recipes since I love to cook good easy healthy food.

Supper last night was Fish tacos with chipotle mayo on coconut tortilla.

I used tilapia for this, and just cooked them in a little coconut oil with a little chili powder on them (could have used more). Found some chipotle salsa that I mixed with light mayo. Put some red pepper, green onions a... Sat, 6 Apr 2013 13:29:47 EST Update......... It has been three weeks since I moved into the next phase of my weight loss journey and took a break from Spark (missed my peeps though) and here is how it has gone.

• My goal for the past 3 weeks was to eat when hungry and stop when full and TRUST that the body would let me know. I have done that fairly well. There have been a couple of times that I probably ate a little too much and I need to get over the idea of wasting food by finishing the last couple of bites even if I am fu... Fri, 5 Apr 2013 14:13:38 EST You are F@*&ing Perfect I went to a Pink concert about 2 weeks ago and when she started singing this song I started to cry. It hits so close to home, especially right now. I finally got the video from my sister and no she was not drunk just had a shaky hand in the beginning.

So for all of my spark peeps who have the hating voices in your head, listen to this song and read the lyrics and believe that you are "F#&^ing Perfect".

<... Mon, 1 Apr 2013 21:01:27 EST Stepping away from Spark for a while After doing the HCG hormonal protocols and reading Weight Loss Apocalypse by Robin Woodall, I realized that I have eating and exercise disorders. They say that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results so I declared myself INSANE, now time to get sane.

I saw Robin on Friday and it was a bit brutal but eye opening and I needed to have someone tell it to me straight and call me out on all my bull(beep). It was also validation of what I have... Mon, 11 Mar 2013 11:57:44 EST Had a heath screening at work today...... And the results were pretty awesome.

Blood Pressure – T]this year - 100/70 last year – 120/76

Total Cholesterol – this year – 144 last year - 185

HDL – this year – 40 last year – 61 not sure why such a drop but I have been working out less.

Triclyceride – this year 50 Last year (from doctors office) – 49 Below 150 is considered good, blew that one out of the water.

Fasting glucose – this year 75 Last year (from docto... Tue, 5 Mar 2013 12:04:41 EST Tough decision today (FIL) My FIL is in the final stages of Alzheimer's and been in a nursing home for over a year and a half. He went in the hospital a couple of weeks ago for throwing up some blood and blood in the stool. They thought that he had a small bleeding ulcer that was aggravated by a stomach bug going around. Got some fluids in him and he got better and went back to the home.

Yesterday he went back in with more bleeding and today they did a CAT scan and the results were bad. He has a hole in his... Wed, 27 Feb 2013 20:29:53 EST Truth #25

As I am getting closer to goal, the more and more I see this at the truth. Sun, 24 Feb 2013 13:05:49 EST Valentines Day NSV from Hubby Ok so I had a great non scale victory yesterday thanks to the hubby and me being brave.

I am finally starting to feel better about the way my body is and trying to accept it no matter what size I am so for Valentines day I told my hubby he could go down to Victoria Secrets and get me something pink and a baby doll style. I was so nervous about what he was going to get me and that it would not fit and I would look fat in it and he would not like it on me.

He got me this... Fri, 15 Feb 2013 14:48:27 EST Tempur-Pedic or Sleep Number We need to get a new bed this year and since sleep is critical we are willing to spend some money and getting a really good bed, just don't know which one.

So if someone out there has one of these, let me know if you like it and any pros and/or cons.

Thanks Sat, 9 Feb 2013 20:02:05 EST Eating to Hunger This is what I have been trying to do all week and man, it is HARD!!!!

Not due to eating when not hungry but ignoring the fact that I am hungry and probably should eat something. After years and years of trying to lose weight I have trained myself to deny myself food f it was not the “right” time to eat or if I had already eaten “too many calories”, or the fact that I just had something to eat an hour ago. I think that this has really messed up my leptin and I need to start listen... Thu, 31 Jan 2013 09:34:31 EST Very interesting...... I get the BFFM emails and saw this one from Tom.

html

So for years and years and years I was spinning my wheels and then when I could no longer keep up with the strict strict eating and over exercising and took a break the weight piled on.

This validates the theory that for some people it is not all about calories in versus calories out and that you can workout too much and eat too little. It's all ab... Wed, 16 Jan 2013 20:48:38 EST Little black dress pictures Last night was my company Christmas party and as I am the smallest I have been in uhmmmm, I don't remember when, I am getting into wearing clothes that I never would have had the confidence to wear before and putting myself out there.

When I went shopping before Christmas I found a Jennifer Lopez black dress for $17 at Kohls and when I tried it on in the store, I almost cried. It looked awesome on and more importantly I felt awesome.

So here is it (oh and these picture... Sun, 13 Jan 2013 12:03:43 EST Best Christmas present EVER.... is what I gave my neice with my sisters approval.

I got her a kitten for Christmas. Jade is 4 1/2 and the perfect age to get a kitten and a girl at work had 4 that she needed to find homes for. Every little girl needs a kitten and they have an older dog that is lonely so I am hoping they become friends too.

I got the kitten about a week before we were going to give it to her to get her used to a dog and make sure that she would be used to people and friendly and boy wa... Sun, 6 Jan 2013 11:52:51 EST What to do for 2013 I am not really one to set diet and fitness goals for a year. I am still working on figuring out how to drop the last of this weight and maintain it but I feel I should come up with something so here is goes.

1. Read more, at least 1 book a month. The hubby and I bought a Kindle Fire for Christmas and I would like to get my money's worth.

2. Bike more, when spring and summer arrives. I am hoping that most of this will be with the hubby and the DD.

3. I woul... Tue, 1 Jan 2013 18:33:14 EST Need some prayers for BIL This holiday season we knew would be rough for him. His mother (my MIL) passed away this past January and he was very close to his mother. Then his oldest son drowned in June, 2 days after he turned 21 and he saw it happen. He is not one who deals with feelings very well and has (and probably still is) turning to drugs and alcohol to stuff the feelings down.

I am praying that God comes to him and gives him strength to get though this. It cannot be easy to have buried a child.
... Mon, 10 Dec 2012 22:07:06 EST Happy Bunny So true.........

Thu, 29 Nov 2012 14:03:59 EST So it finally happened........... after years and years of trying to get the 43 years old hubby to eat better, stop eating so much sugar, workout a little more, reduce portion sizes of carbs it has caught up with him. He had a physical and blood drawn for fasting blood sugar and it came back "mildy elevated and is a sign of prediabetes. Diet modification and exercise can help this".

He finally showed me this last night and as much as I wanted to say I told you so, that's it, a diet change will happen now, I did no... Sun, 25 Nov 2012 15:35:20 EST Finally 85 down............(pics) So, I just finished another round of the doctor prescribed meds. I hit for an overall total since the beginning of this weight loss journey of 10 years, 85 pounds lost. That is how much my 14 year old daughter weighs.

It been rough to say the least. The beginning was low carb and moderate exercise and had lost 80 pounds that way then something changed. No matter what I did, I would gain and that went on for almost 6 years. Worked out harder, ate less and this failed me MISERABLY. ... Sun, 11 Nov 2012 17:00:53 EST In need of a little cosmetic work..... on my poor car since a freeken big buck ran into the side of my car last night 5 miles from home. I am fine, did not even need to stop the car. The worst part was I did not even kill it, it just bounced around on the side of my car, then ran off into the woods. If a deer is going to do that much damage to my car, I at least want to harvest the meat. I live in an area where there are too many deer and I see new ones dead on the side of the road every day and think hopefully the person that hit... Tue, 30 Oct 2012 09:47:18 EST Happy Bunny 10-29 Hopefully nobody says this phrase this week. Stay Strong 84

Mon, 29 Oct 2012 09:36:51 EST Walks in Italy and Russia (pictures) This weekends walks were in Moscow Russia around the Kremlin and downtown Florence Italy. Both were awesome but Italy was my favorite so far. The architecture there is unreal and so freeken awesome.

I did find out that there are alot of places that I cannot create street view maps for though. A coworker had an exchange student from Slovakia and suggested that I walk where Hana was from. There is not a single street view in the whole country. They must not want google maps to see w... Sun, 28 Oct 2012 16:50:08 EST My walks in Russia and Ireland (pics) Ok, I am now really really in love with my treadmill. Just to let everyone know, I have a Nordic Track 1750 commercial treadmill with IFit live and google maps that I got about 1 year ago. It served me very well at the beginning of the year in training for my half since I programmed the route and ran it often, then summer came and so I stopped using to for a while.

I went and logged into my IFit earlier this month and saw that they had premade maps from all over the world and then... Sun, 21 Oct 2012 16:13:20 EST The squatter cat........ So last week we had to put one of our cats down because she all of a sudden lost a ton of weight. Not to sad about this one since she was a cranky B----I----T---C----H. I got her from some lady after we put one of our other cats down and thought that the one cat that we had left needed a friend and that was an utter failure.

In the mean time, we had a squatter cat that moved into our garage this summer, eating our garbage and just would not leave. I do not understand why cats thin... Wed, 17 Oct 2012 09:27:37 EST Happy Bunny....... I have not posted a Happy Bunny in quite a while but I thought this one fit ALOT of people.

This one fits me perfectly Tue, 16 Oct 2012 09:23:21 EST My trip to Vegas Just got back from a 4 day trip to Vegas and had a blast.

I went with my 26 year old sister and her friends for Angie's 28th golden birthday and the oldest person there (besides me of course) was Angie's 30 year old husband Joe. So I was the oldest and fattest person in the group.

We got there Wednesday night and went to Fremont Street (or Freak street as people call it). Meet a cute couple from San Diego and when I told them that my daughter was turing 21 on Friday he... Sun, 30 Sep 2012 13:10:47 EST The new and better black dress Ok, so here is the new dress for Friday night clubbing in Vegas.

It looks and feels so so so much better. No hoochy mama here but a classy dress.

And a bonus is today is feeling like a skinny day since I am wearing some size 12's. I stayed off the scale this weekend since I did some workouts which always make me gain.

I also really really really struggled to eat enough yesterday.... Mon, 24 Sep 2012 10:58:52 EST More breads and pumpkins, pumpkins, pumpkins.... Ok, so I did some more baking this weekends. My pumpkins from my garden are getting ready and the few apples from our apple tree needed to be picked since we had a freeze warning last night (26 degrees this morning).

All day yesterday I seeded and baked 4 pumpkins and made some wonderful stuff with it. First was some garlic pumpkin seeds and some plain salted seeds which are both delish.

I went and froze a bunch of it. I put the pumpkin into muffin tins so I could prot... Sun, 23 Sep 2012 17:23:02 EST The dress I did not buy...... and the one that I did.

First, I am going to Vegas with my sister and her friends in 10 days and we are planning on going to go to a club one night and see and O show so that meant a little shopping. Went to the Mall of America to find some dresses and clothes for the weekend.

I found one right away. It was so me with studs on it so I bought it with the thought that I could always return it if I found something different.

We went to Nordstroms knowing full w...
