MYANCEY's SparkPeople Blog MYANCEY's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community So, I'm trying again..... I just reread my old blog posts. They're from several years ago but some of the same issues are stil here. They still resonate. I still prefer to exercise first thing in morning and if I don't, it will probably never happen that day. I still can't always leave the kids alone to get ready on their own in time with all things done correctly. I'm still looking for more motivation to get up from a comfy be... Sun, 23 Apr 2017 23:03:06 EST Well I haven't exercised today yet, maybe later So it's been two full weeks of missing my morning 6 am workout because kids can't be left alone. I'm very annoyed at that. I am still trying to break that mental block, but It hasn't fully sunk in yet. Most of my brain insists that if I don't exercise first thing in the morning, then I don't do it at all. I like to do it before eating breakfast, otherwise I tell myself I'm full and it will make my tummy hurt. I know it says to eat a snack first on SparkPeople, but I just can't seem to ye... Thu, 24 Sep 2009 15:17:20 EST I'm tired of writing "So, I'm trying again" But unfortunately, it's the truth. Even tho I had joined a very cool challenge between three Spark Teams, and I was technically participating, I didn't really exercise much the past two weeks. I had thought that getting kids back to school would make it easier to workout since we''d have a schedule again, but it's not working out.
The first day of school, I woke DD up at 6am to take shower, then went downstairs and did 45 minutes of "Dance of the Inches-Belly Dance". When I came upsta... Wed, 23 Sep 2009 16:58:26 EST I made the FitnessTracker yell at me, and I stuck my tongue out at it... So after those last blogs when I got myself all pumped up and excited, I exercised for 4 days in a row and made the FitnessTracker yell at me for putting in way more minutes and calories burned than I was "eating" in the Nutrition Tracker and to fix it. I didn't fix it, I told it to be quiet and let me burn more calories.
But then I took a rest day, and another, and another, THEN I EXERCISED, but then I rested.
Guess I still have to work on the motivation part. That's where this T... Fri, 4 Sep 2009 00:03:13 EST My Most Proud of Thing The thing I am most proud of (besides my family) is 3:21.

I will explain: In 8th grade (24.5 years ago, YIKES!) in gym class I once threw and amzing 23 ft shotput and was told to try out for the Track Team in spring. So I did, but never did as well in shotput again, so hanging out one day, the Coach realized that he didn't have anyone to run the 800 (2 laps around track / .5 mile) so he made me and one other girl do it. She didn't even finish, I ended at 5 minutes 58 seconds, I ... Sun, 23 Aug 2009 18:02:26 EST Ok, So I said I was tired of it, so I DID SOMETHING! After writing that post before, I went to get a drink of water (flavor added) when I saw the South Beach protein drink powder in the flavor box, so I added it and since it has some protein in it, (which I have found I need to exercise on w/o getting nauseous) I went on the treadmill for 25 minutes!! In the middle of the day!!! At 4:15 PM!!! On a Sunday!!!

I know that sounds silly, but that was HUGE for me, to do some exercise not at 6am weekday only.

here's hoping it h... Sun, 23 Aug 2009 17:44:00 EST Alright, I'm tired of being lazy I have recently gained enough weight to almost the highest I EVER was. This has got to stop!! 15 School starts again in 2 weeks, so (hopefully) does an actual schedule that we can stick to. But I'm gonna try to start MY schedule tomorrow. Planning on getting up at 6am to exercise first, THEN shower and off to work. Hopefully I actually do that. How should I reward myself for accomplishing it? Or should I punish myself for not doing it? That seems wrong somehow. But it's no... Sun, 23 Aug 2009 16:20:01 EST I may have slacked a little, but I'm not giving up!... So if you remember, I did 2 bouts of exercise on Tuesday, on Wednesday I then walked on treadmill (while watching TV [Rosemary & Thyme]) for more than an hour! The time flew by since I didn't really pay attention to it; incline set at 4%, speed at 3.0! Then Thursday I only (LOL) did 25 mins of power yoga. But Friday and today, I haven't done anything. My excuse is that Friday was really busy and my knees & shins hurt a little (prob. that marathon incline session) and today I had a headac... Sun, 11 Jan 2009 00:36:17 EST I CAN exercise more than once a day! I did The Firm's Jiggle Free Arms this morning (when I usually do some sort of exercise) but I ALSO walked 25 minutes on treadmill after work while kids did homework.
So I doubled up on cardio for once. I need to do that more often. I usually do exercise in morning before breakfast/kids/school/work or not at all. I almost never do it on weekends, because I sleep a little bit later and by time I get up everyone wants to eat, and then 90 minutes later when eggs are all eaten (or 120 min... Tue, 6 Jan 2009 23:03:39 EST 5%, 10% goals So I was watching The Biggest Loser Couples the other night and the things they were talking about really must have resonated with me because I still find myself thinking about them a week later. It was the episode when the gang all went back to the hospital to compare what they've lost/gained with their original health assessment. Kelly had been told that just losing 5% of her weight loss had given her untold benefits and 10% even more and yet she was at like 26% or something. Previously ... Mon, 17 Mar 2008 13:22:00 EST OK, OK, So I have an issue... Ok, so my dear hubbie's right and I have an addiction. It's not a horrible one and it's not unhealthy, however there could be a much better version of it.
What is it?
Ok, [stand up] My name is Melanie and I have an Exercise DVD Buying Addiction.
Whew, I said it.
Unfortunately, I cannot say that I am even CLOSE to being addicted to DOING the exercise DVDs, just buying and trying them. I already have all 14 of the Yoga Booty Ballet's (they are what started me down this ... Mon, 17 Mar 2008 13:11:16 EST How depressing! :( They think I'm gonna DIE! I'll show them!! It was the annual benefit sign up time at my husband's work, and I finally realized that he should have more life insurance on me (I had already had him increased up to 6x salary) since he'd have to cope with house, kids, parents and loss and need to hire someone probably, so I signed me up to have 3x his salary. There had to be a health form sent in before they'd approve it, and I worried a bit about the blood clots and being on Coumadin for life now, but oh well, didn't see a problem. <BR... Sun, 24 Feb 2008 00:07:38 EST So still no exercise, but I think I lost weight Still no exercise due to cold, but it is definitely (FINALLY!) getting better so maybe soon. But I did step on the scale this morning and it said 239!! Does that actually mean that me not feeling like eating OR exercsing for the past week has let me lose 7 pounds!!??? That doesn't sound quite right. I guess I have to not eat too much today and try again tomorrow morning. Well I wore my pants that are a bit too big today (they are a 22W but 20s are often snug and they don't make 21W! LOL... Tue, 15 Jan 2008 20:04:52 EST So, it's my 37th birthday today I am getting closer and closer to 40. I really don't care that much bout it but I think that I should start to take of things like my skin or teeth more. My hair has some strands of silver (not dull grey, but glinting silver) so I kinda like them, at least for now. I almost never wear makeup, so my skin is what shows, so I guess I should start doing a "routine" with it morning or night to keep it. And, last but definitely not least, i still need to lose the weight. It can't be healthy to... Mon, 14 Jan 2008 08:03:13 EST I just can't seem to win! I just started being active on the FIRM Believers Just take 10 workout thread/challenge, I did 3 workouts in (almost) a row, and now I have a horrible cold with ear infection. I can barely breathe or stop coughing regularly, let alone when trying to do anything aerobic (yeah, like get up to get more tea and honey, I get out of breath!!!) Apparently, the 5 steps from the couch to the mircowave is really a 5K, LOL
So, I have to take a small break AGAIN, just as I was getting started AGAIN... Sat, 12 Jan 2008 23:26:17 EST I have no excuses (or at least I shouldn't) I got up early and exercised for 10 minutes today. That's all, but it's huge. I keep finding excuses and putting it off and not quite doing it for than 2 days in a row. If I can get a good workout in 10 minutes, then I have NO EXCUSE not to do it every day. I did Yoga Live's Express 10 minute yoga sequence 1. I have done all of the poses many, many times before, but never so fast and flowing together, I actually got out of breath from my yoga practice and that doesn't' usually happen. Sat, 17 Nov 2007 09:06:53 EST OK, gonna try AGAIN I've just been sooo lazy, I've only been working 2 times a week if that. Now that School's coming back, I'm hoping to get on a more regular schedule. If I have to have the kids up by 7 so that they can get showered, then I need to be up before then. So my plan will be to get up at 6, workout, kids up, kids shower, I shower while they get dressed, dress quickly, make lunch while they eat breakfast and get them out door by 8:20, then eat and go to work if i have to. On days when not going t... Thu, 16 Aug 2007 11:59:32 EST Okay, so I am gonna try again After the Christmas break and my illnesses were (mostly) gone, my new DVD's came. I've now got 12 new exercise DVD's. I am telling myself that they are not too much money, they are birthday presents to me and I am worth it. I have tried the Prevention Walk Yourself Fit (I walked/other stuff 1 mile in 20 minutes with intervals), Prevention Personal Training (you get to arrange workouts based on what body part, how intense, etc) and the Prevention 3-2-1 (3minutes of cardio, 2 of strength, 1... Sat, 20 Jan 2007 22:15:18 EST UGGGHHH!!! I just can't seem to win! I finally started exercising again on Wed morning, went to work, came home, sat down at computer around 9pm to play WOW, then suddenly my stomach didn't feel good. I was up all night with a stomach virus and couldn't keep anything down until late Thursday evening! At least it was a short bug, my DS had had it on Chistmas Eve, but by Christmas morning was okay. My DD got it n Thursday morning, so the 2-3 of us just sat on the couches and watched tv the entire day... Fri, 29 Dec 2006 17:25:48 EST I did it! I did Yoga Booty Ballet Live Light & Easy and it wasn't!, Whew! I know it's been awhile since any regular exercise, but, geez, that shouldn't have wiped me out!
However, I felt great for doing it yeah Me!!!! Wed, 27 Dec 2006 20:32:50 EST I have a "Fitness Craving"!!! I can't wait! I just can't wait. I actually MISS exercising!!
I just spent waaaay too much money ordering new DVDs from Amazon that I can't wait for. Not only did I order the first 2 Masala Bhangra the other day, but last night in a peak of fitness craving, I ordered 7 Prevention Fitness dvds, 1 Yoga conditioning, 1 Kickboxing for Dummies and 1 total body toning 1-minute workout!!!!!
So, since I can't wait, I'm gonna try YBB's Light and Easy and see how it goes. I did a 10 minute toning by Mi... Wed, 27 Dec 2006 08:03:09 EST I've been sick Hello anyone bored enough to read this.
I've been sick a lot lately, pretty much back-to-back colds since September and then Pneumonia in Mid-December. I'm not really supposed to be exercising yet, but I'm finding that I really miss it. I'm getting antsy. So I went to Amazon and bought some new dvds to use as soon as I am allowed to. I got Masala Bhangra 1 & 2. I've recently decided that I really like this type of music, even if I can't understand the words. Plus, I LOVE my Yoga Bo... Tue, 26 Dec 2006 17:09:28 EST
