MYAKAYAH's SparkPeople Blog MYAKAYAH's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Thank you to my work! They knew I was more concerned with my close friend who was having her kidney removed this morning. (Yes, it was a Nephrectomy). So they said go be there for however long it takes. I left at 7am and got there round 730am when they took her to surgery. The surgical team was fabulous about keeping us updated and she was out of surgery at 10am. It went very well and they did remove her kidney and now we are just waiting on the biopsy to come back to see if the cancer had spread (she was in stage... Tue, 23 Aug 2016 15:45:09 EST Hi Monday night! Yesterday at the BBQ, there was steak grilled so tonight I cut up that steak into thinner Julienne like pieces and marinated it further and heated it through on my cast iron grill! I used the roasted vegetables from last night, made canned black beans, Spanish rice and had cheese, cilantro, sour cream and pico do gallo with tortillas for dinner...EASY~ Had a salad with that and done! The other two made pound cake (I make pound cake every other week, 2 loaves so the 2 can have different desser... Mon, 22 Aug 2016 22:28:44 EST Saturday Its in the lower 70's but sunny so that is nice! Did my hair yesterday and it looks good but I may have to ask the stylist to colour the front a bit more because I can see some white hairs. She did a very good job otherwise! Exercise today is yoga, cardio and ST. Maybe some walking but I have gotten in a fair amount of steps this week. If it is not too cold later I will walk. Had dinner at Olive Garden last night. I had a rum and coke with lime before dinner while waiting for a table. It was ... Sat, 20 Aug 2016 18:38:31 EST Words for today~ It was busy and I am glad this is an easier week in the evenings! Needed that because when you work, take care of your people and cat it can get a bit atrocious with time. I am not feeling getting cranky with anyone unless it is a necessary thing! I made over 10K steps for the day so I am getting back to active steps not just walking around at work etc...

Last weekend I rearranged my office space a bit so it was more functional to do yoga, strength training and cardio there. The tr... Thu, 18 Aug 2016 00:02:42 EST Doing well today, its warm, sun is out! Yesterday was just one of those days where it feels like nothing was going right, people were cranky with me because I am a logical straightforward person. Not given to deal with others on an emotional level in any manner, I get for some people that can be frustrating when conversing with me...I had 2 people yesterday call me Spock and House lol. I mean what do you want me to do fake it. I am so bad with faking emotion so I stay true to the character and personality the High Power gave me! <B... Tue, 16 Aug 2016 14:59:58 EST Went to dinner had Mexican Paolo was in the mood so we went. My chicken burrito, black beans and rice tasted a bit salty but it was good! Paolo had a Carne Asada plate! The young lady pork soft tacos!

I have had back pain in my lower back for a few weeks now so the doctors and I are conferring for the best course of action. I use Advil as needed but an MRI is likely needed to see what is going on and what to do....The pain is just annoying really but aggravating enough to make me take notice and not ignore i... Thu, 11 Aug 2016 23:31:00 EST Hi again! Having fun watching the Olympics in the evenings. I wish they would show one event from start to finish though. That has always annoyed me with coverage. I would like to see more than Americans in the Olympics as well. There are other athletes in the games. I'm as patriotic as the next person but I would think the coverage could be better at night!

Doing well getting more rest and relaxing. Feeling a bit better but still dealing with a little pain so I am considering a Doctor visi... Wed, 10 Aug 2016 13:17:01 EST Customer Service is bad these days~ I go to Panera near my house and the register person hands me my change, Panera card, receipt and cup for my drink all at once. Yeah, no one is behind me so you can wait a few seconds young lady before acting all huffy stuff. (This is regular standard not just isolated incidents.)

If I would ever own any business proper cash handling would be observed. Asking if receipts need to be thrown away or placed in a bag... or GASP waiting a few seconds for people to put away their cash wou... Fri, 5 Aug 2016 14:23:02 EST Tuesday~ It has been busy since my last entry! Tonight I started dog sitting until Sunday. A Pug Myles, friends going out of town and I said I could do most of the dog watching until Sunday with brief periods of letting my nieces handle him! My sister and brother in law are going to California from Friday-Sunday for a wedding so I have the nieces Friday-Sunday.

Uh...after my meeting earlier I had a bit of marketing (grocery shopping) to do so I handled that pretty quick and came in. Customers galore and taking care of counting out the drawers of 2 employees. They were both even thankfully.
I will be happy for 530 because it is when I am off until next Monday at 730am!

I have already bought the 2 backpacks I need and wrote what supplies I need to get in the morning so I can take care of that. Wed, 27 Jul 2016 15:14:04 EST Tuesday night, 2 more work days! The birthday went fine over the weekend, I received lovely presents and a tiramisu cake. I ate one small piece and it went quickly since the nieces love sweets and coffee. My husband gave me a Hawaiian bracelet in silver and another bracelet in rose gold. He gave me 2 gift cards and the dinner out Friday night so he did more than his duty.

My stepdaughter (the young lady) gave me a journal since she knew I am running down on the one I have and the type of mechanical pencils and pen... Wed, 27 Jul 2016 00:05:50 EST Monday Money matters~ I like to take lunch from 1230-130-ish. Feels like the rest of the day zooms by when I do that! 7-4 is a good schedule to have. I work round 40 hours a week which is nice since I seem to always be moving about and dealing with customers and their various issues. I work Monday-Thursday from 7-530 this week since I took Friday off to have a 3 day weekend. I have a doctor appointment then and Paolo has one in the afternoon. My appointment is in the morning so I can be at the house at 1 so he can... Mon, 25 Jul 2016 15:53:47 EST Well Happy Birthday to me ya! I realised even more this morning what a truly fabulous, wonderful husband, Significant Other I have in Paolo! He woke me at 545am, he put a new silver Hawaiian bracelet round my arm that was fitted. (He understands my need to not wear loose bracelets on my small wrist, drives me crazy!) It is thicker than my slim gold bracelet I have had since I returned from Hawaii eons ago. I suppose the man really put on his thinking cap and said now what would kayah like to have?

Its true I am... Having lunch right now for 45 minutes then back to work!

Paolo noticed my phone beeped so he woke me at 6am and said you have a text. I texted back and said I could make it by 7 since I only live 10 minutes away so I made Paolo's breakfast and jumped in the shower and had my breakfast and made coffee to go. The young lady makes her own breakfast and she was off to work with her Dad. I put dinner in ... Mon, 18 Jul 2016 14:13:02 EST Plans for this week! Working Tuesday-Saturday this week. Thu, 14 Jul 2016 01:04:02 EST I am having tea I ate oatmeal, yoghurt and 2 eggs for breakfast and a fig bar for a snack. Lunch is a sandwich likely and then a chicken salad for dinner for me before I head to my meeting at 615pm or so until round 815. Tomorrow I need to make a baked rigatoni for a function so I need to get ground turkey and some shredded cheese to make it. I am just making a pan of it so its for about 15-20 people but we have other people bringing other Italian food items so there will be enough food for everyone no sweat... Tue, 12 Jul 2016 16:33:49 EST It was much cooler today! After this last week's major heat up it feels really nice! Everyone is back from St. Louis and its heat & humidity, a welcome relief indeed!

I went to get my reading glasses and they work really nice. I need to send a picture to my Mom of both pair. It is a really nice thing to have reading glasses that work again and I don't have to keep adjusting the Zoom here so I can see lol. The joys of getting older.

I stopped to get Papa Murphy's Pizza for dinner and everyone enjo... Mon, 11 Jul 2016 22:27:55 EST So hot today used air conditioning It got up to 97 degrees so yes it was needed! No cooking for dinner again since we ordered out. We had not done it in a while. I said I would cook on the stove but everyone was like NO! I will likely go tomorrow afternoon to fetch them!

It is quiet right now because Paolo is asleep after working on projects early this morning and afternoon. He was building some more shelves for the garage for his tools and things. The young lady helped him after she cleaned her bed and bathroom and practised her piano and flute. She works Monday-Friday from 8am-3pm until the week before school starts. At that point she needs to get back in... Sat, 9 Jul 2016 19:47:20 EST I think I was cut out for military life seriously~ Not so much cut out for the relaxed life unless I am holiday! I would like to apologise to my Lady Panther sisters. I have been a bit unreliable but I am going the rest of the way with no excuses and not missing Wednesday check ins! I can do it! Just a few more weeks to go and I am not being a flake. I'd better remember this for next summer ha? I just do better with more structure and (dare I say) regimentation!

It is quite hot here this week, today is the hottest day and its round... Wed, 6 Jul 2016 17:23:25 EST New glasses! Picked them up and they work well, can see street signs again and I am happy for that! These are the distance glasses and they are for outside and turn into sunglasses when needed. Waiting on the reading glasses that will come in this upcoming week sometime~

Sister's cat is with me because they are leaving on holiday very early Sunday morning and I am not retrieving him that early (4am leaving it sounds like so I told my sister bring him over today which she did thankfully.) The benefits and other niceties were a cool thing as well. I am going to try both jobs but if its too much bye bye research position. I've had enough with the young workers making my life much too difficult in that position. As much as I love the work being solitary its too hard when others don't pull their weight!

I checked my credit report today and everything is quite fine and swell right now, s... Thu, 30 Jun 2016 00:54:41 EST Getting to the point of not liking my work I am thinking of finding another FT gig even if I get the bank. I am past the point of tolerating these young people not pulling their weight and being lazy with work. They need to go work for themselves and get the stars out of their eyes. Very few are successful because they don't have a work ethic. I hear "but Warren Buffet, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates did it."
Yes they did over a period of many years it wasn't instantaneous by any means. When you are lazy and entitled you affect everyo... Tue, 28 Jun 2016 15:22:46 EST Interesting busy day! This morning was up early to head to services with the SO and Young Lady. That went well and we were done at noon. Had a 90 minute walk, did Yoga already and 2 cardio videos which was enough for the day. We just had a hailstorm here and we won't be worrying about a drought anytime soon.

I should of had a nap when I got back but I made a lunch for everyone of chicken tenders made with Doritos. Pretty easy to make and not so labour intensive. Made everyone have some vegs before desse... Sun, 26 Jun 2016 22:16:08 EST Had an eye exam earlier! I did the Visionworks deal for an exam and 2 pair of glasses and it came out to just under $200!(I do mean just under $200 though.) I have one pair of glasses for just reading and that type of work. The other pair is for everything else and those were made into sunglasses with a grey tint! Hallelujah. I have clip-ons for the glasses I have now! I may get one or two more pair online in August if these work alright for me.

Get this, Doctor lady said I am ready for bifocals-sigh! I ... Sun, 26 Jun 2016 00:39:17 EST Thoughts? A quote from Baltasar Gracian's "Art of Worldly Wisdom."

"Limit familiarity when dealing with people. The stars, precisely because they remain so distant, maintain their splendor. Divinity demands respect, familiarity breeds contempt. It's not advised with anyone: with your superiors, because it's dangerous; with your inferiors, because it's unseemly; and especially not with the rabble who, being stupid and so insolent, will not recognize the favor shown them and will take it as t... Thu, 23 Jun 2016 02:19:33 EST Another warm day a bit cooler round 85 and I made spaghetti and salad for dinner. Getting annoyed with the where is the meat. If you want meat in it cook it okay is about to be my answer. LOL.
I had some cool carrots with that since I skipped the salad. Tomorrow is cucumber avocado chilled soup and tacos~

I washed my hair earlier and I have not flat ironed it yet. Tomorrow I will tame the wild beast~ Thu, 23 Jun 2016 01:47:09 EST Cleveland and Denver win in the same year? A championship? Miracles do happen indeed!

So what does LeBron need to do now? The man has won in 2 cities!

Can't sleep for some reason so I'm fooling round till 530am!

Mon, 20 Jun 2016 06:53:23 EST My sister and her husband are looking to buy a house~ and they are looking at homes in their preferred school district for my niece who is going to the high school next to her middle school, capice?

I have looked at some houses with them over the past few months and its all running together for me honestly. They really want what Paolo and I bought but I said you can't afford that right lol. You can afford some of it but not all of it? They like that in the kitchen we have a large walk in pantry, we have all black appliances, a wine re... Sun, 19 Jun 2016 19:40:57 EST Managed 11K steps today! I feel like I am back on track with the walking!

This weekend, tomorrow we are going out on the water in a friend's small yacht like boat. Starting round 9am or so, will be out until 2 or 3! Then we may hit the Cherry Blossom Festival for a period of time then probably eating out for dinner. Sunday is service at 10am for Father's Day. We come back to the house for brunch with my sister and her family and then the girls will go swimming at the pool. My sister is doing the brunch and... Need to go shopping this week for groceries and the necessities~

Paolo really has never seen me sick and he was like you need to go to the Doctor. I said for what? To let me know what I already know, I have a cold. Let it run its course etc...

These shootings need to stop here, honestly its feeling like all the time. I live where there were 2 very high profile attacks. The Aurora Theatre Shooting and Columbine in Littleton! What is it going to take... Tue, 14 Jun 2016 01:57:15 EST Cold is hanging on what can you do? Annoying!

My nieces and the young lady are leaving tonight to head for camp for a week, fun times for them certainly. I wish them a lot of fun and learning.

Back to work and tonight will take care of Paolo since he claims I gave him this cold. Probably did but not on purpose because when I am sick or have a cold I carry anti-bacterial wipes with me and wipe down everything I touch! Wed, 8 Jun 2016 15:05:28 EST I have a cold fun times, but not really. it is not too bad but annoying since back in February I had a nasty flu! I had not been sick in years so this year I guess its 2 for 1 lol!

Its nice and sunny today and I may take a walk later if i feel up to it. I don't feel sick but under the weather certainly. I won't make 70K this week like I wanted I don't think but maybe, if I feel up to 10K steps I can make it lol. I just don't have the energy for it though I don't think.

My brother in ... Sat, 4 Jun 2016 15:07:21 EST Today's exercise is walking, cardio and yoga~

Paolo is doing well in his new position and he likes it better so far than his previous work! He works from 730am-5pm most days but usually Monday-Friday. He doesn't mind an occasional Saturday though. I work from 8am-430pm or something similar but I prefer to take off Sunday and Monday just because Tuesday-Saturday suits me better. I usually only wind up working 4 days. I am considering getting another position but keeping this one.

In the ... Thu, 2 Jun 2016 10:53:09 EST Moving is no joke it can tire one out for a spell and you have to get your energy back for your routine again.

I have been quite busy here, there and everywhere. Colorado is nice but the jumping through hoops to get your ID or Driver's License etc is unnecessary in my view. Basically Paolo wasn't pleased at all with that process. It's an intentional hoop crossing in my view. 2 verified pieces of address in Colorado are needed. Ridiculous!

Anyhow, the weather is pretty nice and it can rai... Thu, 2 Jun 2016 01:08:25 EST Tired tonight hope it was a good Holiday for everyone~ Tue, 31 May 2016 00:30:55 EST Eating Right And Exercise When Moving! Secret of Success (Does this go alright or does it suck lol?)

I do think when one is moving across state lines or making a cross country move, it is important to stay hydrated and eat as well as you can so you don't get too far off your healthy lifestyle plan. Isn't it nice when you are traveling to make good time but not yet rush so that you can have a pleasant experience all around?

For example, I just completed a move that was over 700 miles and took about a day and a... Fri, 20 May 2016 18:45:03 EST Friday Been working hard and smart to get this place put together! Its good to have a period of rest when you are settling in. Paolo is hanging pictures later on and I am putting together a fe... Fri, 20 May 2016 10:40:57 EST We are here made it into Denver round 1pm, unloaded the car and tonight we went to celebrate my niece's birthday dinner. We left this morning round 430am, stopped for breakfast round 9am and made it with hours to spare before we needed to head out for dinner. My sister and her family picked us up and dropped us off from dinner because the chosen restaurant was about 20 minutes from our place.

Tomorrow we will head to church and after do some work, of which there is plenty! The young lady made ... Sat, 14 May 2016 22:18:45 EST Well we decided to leave last night since we were all packed up and ready, all was taken care of and we are in Utah for a day before making it in to Denver tomorrow sometime. We are resting right now because the last week was a whirlwind of activity. Paolo wanted to stop in Utah for a bit so I said alright then.

The young lady graduated school Wednesday night and had time yesterday with her friends. One of her friends will come to the house for a few weeks in August before school starts.

I flew back into Vegas Tuesday and everything... Fri, 13 May 2016 16:00:30 EST Monday! Hello, update on everything!

Basically 2 friends and I drove the truck here a few days back and unloaded everything and returned the truck this morning! I am flying back to Vegas tomorrow afternoon and Saturday morning start the drive back with the SO and young lady!

Pretty much all the big items are in place in every room. All of the kitchen was unpacked and put into place so that is the big thing. I went at it like a woman possessed. I just wanted it to be done. A lot... Mon, 9 May 2016 16:23:25 EST Well, its sunny and warm! So yes in a bit I am going for a walk out! Get those steps working for me lol! I've done a fair amount of housework today so that is some good activity and moving around. Yes, I am home but we are 95% packed up so the other 5% is basically ready to go when we load up next week. We have a plan of attack and everything is set in Colorado for when we arrive over there. We are living out of a suitcase and a few boxes but its for a short while, no big deal for the 3 of us.

The young one... Wed, 4 May 2016 16:14:19 EST Its finally sunny again today 50's! It felt good while I was walking honestly! It was a few days since I walked outside though and I was creaking pretty well! Now I am uncreaking nicely.

I am so not cut out to be a mom lol. My nieces are lazy and ungrateful and their parents have contributed to it by being lazy themselves and pushing off child rearing as much as they can to others, I'm done with it though. I have made a decision I am not dealing with them anymore, letting their parents handle their insolence, stress... Mon, 2 May 2016 20:44:25 EST So this thing called insomnia is back~ Official Sleep Challenge time again yes!

Its sunny today and having dinner with a friend! I had a nap this afternoon so I am alright to do that. I think I can sleep later on and be okay to right myself. That usually cures the insomnia and I don't watch much TV so that helps.

Changing gears here!

So this weekend I am bringing my Smokey cat to Colorado right! I'll be here from Friday-Tuesday because I have to be at the house to receive the washer and dryer! It... Wed, 27 Apr 2016 18:23:30 EST
