MYAKAYAH's SparkPeople Blog MYAKAYAH's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Sister made it to CO & other stuff It's sunny but cool this morning! The weather is supposed to be much cooler for a bit but 50's-40's isn't major. I did my (bedding) laundry yesterday and put away the cooler sheets and broke out the fleece on the bed so I am warmer so I don't have to run the heat except for quite low. I have some housework to do today. One more load of laundry, bathroom, vacuuming and things of that nature. I have already taken care of the dishes and some minor things. Paolo is at work but the 2 young ones ar... Fri, 31 Oct 2014 12:28:15 EST Giants win it all! November challenge & goals~ Let's see tomorrow I am going to vote before my hair appointment and both of those things will be taken care with. I will be glad when its November 5th because no more visits to my house from the candidates to try and sway me to their side. I must tell you no other place I have visited has made me feel so appreciated in regards to my vote lol. (I meant that sarcastically because at least 5 or 6 candidates, their staff have visited me constantly in the past month or so. ENOUGH.)

Any... Thu, 30 Oct 2014 01:15:51 EST Sister called earlier & they are driving from California to here and tomorrow they will drive onto Denver to begin a new life there. They have friends there so a transition is easier that way. Denver is less expensive than Southern California so that is a good thing.

Watched a little of The Dallas Redskins game, boring to me lol. I can't stand Romo or Jerry Jones, I don't really know how Dallas is 6-2 honestly. However, a lot of other teams you just don't know who is going to show up at any given week. Well, except for ma... Tue, 28 Oct 2014 00:49:25 EST Hey, sports nation! I watched LSU/Mississippi St. for a little bit, what a pathetic game. Awful, even if they did win by a hair (LSU). Miss St. should be ashamed as well, I mean you were going to kick it and tie it up to go to OT. Geez...In better news UCLA won it in double OT.

Well the Giants won 11-4 after being down 4-1. Things improved after Bochy lifted Vogelsong. Our middle reliever took it to the Royals, and we bombed their middle relievers, nothing could stop the Giants players from capitalizi... Sun, 26 Oct 2014 04:33:54 EST still feel funky, of course I do! I don't know what this creepy crud is but I'll be glad when it goes away! I think its staying at bay because I have hot tea, orange juice and other liquids like its going out of style. I'm definitely not hungry much but I have breakfast and dinner so I'm alright.

Giants lost so they need to get on the ball and win 2 of 3 in Frisco so they can win it in 6 back in KC. I watched my Blue Bloods and that was a highlight of the day since I feel so crappy, cranky and gross. I am thankful ... Sat, 25 Oct 2014 02:16:37 EST Broncos won~ its really all I cared to watch today, I almost fell asleep a few times.

I'm not gonna lie I feel like hell a little more today. Been drinking a lot, hot tea, cold tea, water, orange juice. I feel like when I am ill my appetite increases a little. I don't get that but I stayed in range. Everything tastes a little off now.

Okay, Game 3 tomorrow night World Series its tied 1-1 which I thought would happen honestly but if San Francisco sweeps it in Frisco series over right... Fri, 24 Oct 2014 02:43:34 EST Figured I'd start the blog for the day... I'm feeling kind of chatty about tea. I made an order for Republic of Tea since it had been a year since I had done one. It's worth it to me to get a more expensive tea since it tastes better than the cheap stuff you get at most regular markets which I don't care for! None of us do really here so I just make the order once a year!

Now, I get my red tea from the old Asian Market where I used to live in LA so that makes me very happy. I could drink that tea exclusively and be happy w... Wed, 22 Oct 2014 07:13:07 EST With the tired I know my problem! Guess who is having the flu, lol! All my aches, pains, tired it was because of that. I am fighting it off but the tired is remaining. I don't feel very nasty sick except for the very tired and body aches. I have no energy though, none lol! I've slept well and if I was okay I would be right on target with my exercise and all of that but until this goes away, I'll be taking a pass on trying to do anything but get up and walk around the house! Maybe try stretching and yoga as well but the ellipt... Wed, 22 Oct 2014 02:06:36 EST I feel so tired tonight! Maybe TOM is trying to come along, I don't know. I have zero energy to do squat so I am resting and trying not to be annoyed lol.

I changed my hair appointment to next week from this Thursday because it just doesn't need colour yet. I could probably go to the first week of November honestly but I'll do it on the 30th instead. I really don't like calling the hair salon because something that should take maybe 5 minutes turns into waiting for 15 to change an appointment so annoying. ... Mon, 20 Oct 2014 23:37:24 EST I gave myself luck with Bronco Orange! The Broncos won more than handily tonight and I took a rest day from walking. Which I do on Sundays and one other day in the week. Still managed 5,000 steps though!

I made my own dinner since everyone else was having pork, beef and veal, just no! I had vegetarian pasta, a salad, sugar free tea and an apple cut up since I can't bite into an apple. In my teenage years I had braces and since then I have to cut up most fruit.

I thought I was getting the TOM but maybe not, we... Mon, 20 Oct 2014 02:08:33 EST Ok, Saturday night 10pm What's going on with the world? I watched the end of the Notre Dame game and for Pete's sake ND, you would of won the game, jeebus! It's not even worth discussing so Florida St. won by a hair down in Tallahassee.

I just came in from my walk when I saw the last few minutes of that game but earlier I was flipping the channels and that Showtime show "The Affair" came on and against my better judgment I watched the first episode. There is about 30 minutes of my life I cannot get back b... Sun, 19 Oct 2014 01:20:13 EST Watched Blue Bloods & had my walk tonight~ Just finished watching my show, its the only program I watch in real time, everything else I DVR and speed through the commercials to save time off my day. I'm glad baseball is over until Tuesday honestly but I've been replaying the Travis Ishikawa homer from last night. Jake Peavy you nut if you screwed up we may have had issues lol. He was excited I get it but don't interfere with Travis getting round the bases!

I have figured out that if I get in 3500 steps before I go for my d... Sat, 18 Oct 2014 02:35:58 EST Pretty good day So we have the Giants and The Royals in the World Series! It will be interesting to see who wins in low scoring games. The Cardinals beat themselves in this series honestly and The Giants capitalised when they did. How cool would it be to be in your 2nd or 3rd World Series already and you are still a young player like Hunter Pence and Buster Posey are. San Francisco has a great organization top to bottom. So defense and pitching wins games here. We're starting in KC next week so be ready Gia... Thu, 16 Oct 2014 23:45:37 EST A real quick one lol~ I almost made 10K yet again, the Universe is conspiring against me so I can't get over 10K for a few days! I've been quite close though so there is that. I've been doing other exercise as well so maybe that is a good balance.

The Royals swept the Orioles so they are in the World Series. The Cardinals have made key errors against the Giants and you just can't do that against a Bruce Bochy led team they'll make you pay!

The weather is warm in the day much cooler at night ... Thu, 16 Oct 2014 02:58:33 EST "I'm not apologising for being human anymore." I wrote that on my status this morning and I was going to blog on it but I was tired from my work so I tabled it for now! I'll probably add more to it later since when I walk I seem to think about many things I just wanted to start it now!

I have been working on myself mentally and I realised when I was young I just tried to shut down everything emotionally. I succeeded in a large way but I hurt myself in the process. I didn't know that is what I was doing because I was trying to s... Tue, 14 Oct 2014 20:00:25 EST Hello my friends I had a good day, not great but good is better than fair or bad right!

Okay, let's talk trash. My brother went back to work for his first day back since his operation. He is doing really well so far which is so wonderful indeed. He is pretty private so I don't say much here but he is improving all the time. The cancer is at bay and he is gaining his health and strength back!

I watched some football but the Rams couldn't hold on to that one. I didn't anticipate that they ... Tue, 14 Oct 2014 01:52:57 EST Hello again I live amoung the living since I am writing this blog. Last week my sister let us know she is moving from California to Colorado. Her & her husband have friends there and its likely more affordable than California is these days. I like Denver but I'm not keen to live there. If I didn't live in Sin City I would live either in Milan (yeah, I loved it there) or maybe in Spain (Malaga) since I dug it there when I visited for a summer. I could live back in Seattle but take my leave from November-March which are... Mon, 13 Oct 2014 01:57:42 EST Busy day or what? I was up at 7am basically because my Dad woke me, he was freaking out about the change in the trash schedule this week going from Wednesday to Thursday permanently. I said it's only a day's difference mi papa and he was a little testy lol. Just roll with it man and don't wake me up anymore please!

So, my mom and I went to see my Aunt (her older sister) so she could go to Wal-Mart and pick up her meds and do a little bit of shopping. I came along because I had to remove an old anti-... Wed, 8 Oct 2014 20:15:37 EST On children, thoughts from others~ Kahlil Gibran's take, or perspective, on the parent child relationship.

Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you,
And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house... Tue, 7 Oct 2014 23:39:50 EST Monday night~ Today was the first day in forever I went over my calories. My high end is 2010 and I made round 2100 so my grazing strategy (which wasn't really a strategy) blew me but its okay since it very rarely happens.

I watched a lot of the Seahawks & Redskins, what's up Seahawks with that game? They have almost a month of road games so that isn't helpful. I think they'll be alright though heading into November crunch time. In football I always say November is crunch time. I watched Denver ... Tue, 7 Oct 2014 01:01:00 EST I was tired today~ went to sleep round 6am, was up at 10am because my stomach said eat something! So I did this and took care of the recycle and trash. Went back to sleep round 2pm for a few hours and woke and had dinner!

My fridge is pretty full so it was leftovers night, successful! I'm dragging today a little and I am resting from even football or sports because I am in no mood after these extra inning thrillers. I needed a day off is all I am saying.

It was round 90F today out here in ... Sun, 5 Oct 2014 00:06:05 EST I'm worn out with baseball all 4 playoff games today and the Angels are going at it now. Baltimore, The Giants, Cardinals have won already. I'm watching Blue Bloods at 10pm regardless. I'm about to watch the episode I missed last Friday for the premiere when fell asleep!

Uh, it was warm and sunny today and I've gotten in many steps already which doesn't quite make up for the cruddy week. I'll do better this upcoming week and football be darned unless The Broncos or Seahawks are playing lol.

Just ... Fri, 3 Oct 2014 23:07:25 EST another shorty I'm feeling a little better and not so hot, hooray. I did a ton of work tonight so I'm a bit tired, may just sleep overnight and work in the day tomorrow.

Barely watched football no point to that slaughter. I figured Green Bay would win but not by that much. Ponder isn't that great of a QB and Cassel being gone, Bridgewater being out for the game I didn't give the Vikings much of a chance. Denver is playing Arizona in the afternoon game Sunday and I'll try to watch that one.
... Fri, 3 Oct 2014 01:28:00 EST A shorty~ Man to be comfortable I have to sit under a fan until this is over practically. It will be in a few days! High body temperature from the monthly time isn't all that fun for me.

I went to get the mail earlier and my cat was outside, he was waiting for me to come back to let him inside, he is such a dog sometimes.

I watched the full Giants Pirates games & The Giants knocked them around good. Tomorrow football mostly but will check in with baseball sometimes just to see wh... Wed, 1 Oct 2014 23:46:13 EST Tuesday, observations! My parents Nissan is in the shop and they have a loaner and its like a little roller skate of a car! I drove it earlier, not my thing but my brother had my BMW so if I wanted to hit the store than I was driving the skate lol!

I feel a lot better than I have in a while but some days getting up the motivation to walk is a challenge. I seem to do better with being on the treadmill or going over to the park and walking up the mountain. Do what you can kayah, you'll get there.
<B... Wed, 1 Oct 2014 00:14:58 EST Week 4 I don't like having week 4 in football starting the bye weeks. I mean Seattle, Denver, Arizona, Cincinnati off. I know the schedule makers couldn't have anticipated their records but the best game of the day was The Eagles and 49'ers just about. The Saints made Dallas look like Einstein just about! Tomorrow is the Patriots and Chiefs so that should be pretty decent fare. How does Atlanta lose so big to the Vikings. I expected the Packers to stifle the Bears so no worries there!

So ... Sun, 28 Sep 2014 23:45:06 EST Almost a week since I posted an entry, for shame! Anyhow, it was fairly busy this last week with the car situation & its paid off now so no worries about that situation. My parents have outstanding credit so they had 0% financing and a credit union assist. Monday the car is going in for a few days of modifications like tinting windows, changing tires and a few other minor details. So they'll have a rental for a few days to compensate at no charge which is nice! It was no worries paying as much as I did for the car, it was an emergency situat... Sat, 27 Sep 2014 12:24:48 EST Last night I meant to... Post more than a sentence but I had to go down and eat more since this past week was a bit horrific in terms of food because of my insomnia. That sucked really bad. The hammering, nailing and big trucks constantly in and out (building the last few homes a few houses down from mine) just has messed me up a lot. I slept well today but I'll feel much better tomorrow. (Especially if My Broncos defeat The Seahawks.) I am taking tonight through Wednesday night off because I need the time to feel be... Sun, 21 Sep 2014 00:55:30 EST Magazines Real Simple & Better Homes & Gardens have come lately! Sat, 20 Sep 2014 02:59:13 EST Let's be real The Roosevelts on PBS! I have seen parts 1-4 and 5-7 are coming tonight through Saturday. I am so loving it more than anything. I may have mentioned TR and Lincoln are the reasons I became a Republican. They would not be elected today on their party's ticket, just no way I can see it happening. (Okay I went off on a sidebar there.) I am no longer a registered republicant. Independent is what I registered as, no other way to do it for me. You can watch the series at through 9/28 :)~

I knew/know mo... Thu, 18 Sep 2014 10:14:20 EST Today in football everyone lost except for the Broncos and Patriots it seems like! Its still only week 2 but to start 0-2 (I'm looking at you Saints) is not good at all. I mean the Bears defeated the 49'ers seriously now. Seattle & Denver play next Sunday during an afternoon game so I am going to try and see that one.

I haven't walked for a few days, gotta get back to the grind. I was seriously tired today and that didn't help but I am going to try quite hard and do Monday-Friday so I have my 5 days... Mon, 15 Sep 2014 00:57:59 EST Laundry, football, dinner, this heat do I need to say anymore than what I just typed above? No, okay, see you later lol!

Laundry, did 2 loads today and just finished up. Needed to do a load for me and one for the SO. If he did his own laundry his whites would be grey, his blacks would be almost grey and whites would be pink or grungy, enough said there! SO I completed that chore. Laundry is my most disliked chore so I get in and get out with that one. Git 'er done cowboy!

Football is college today and I do... Sun, 14 Sep 2014 01:50:23 EST I haven't had a lot to say it seems... I did watch some football earlier but the Ravens were manhandling the Steelers, I got bored came over here and there you are...

Today is 9/11 and while I was having breakfast this morning, it was round 4am, I was watching MSNBC and Mayor Giuliani came on and they were talking about 2001. A most horrible day indeed.

Football is really annoying me, defensive players can't really do their jobs anymore its almost pointless. Its a hard, somewhat violent sport, it is what it ... Fri, 12 Sep 2014 00:39:31 EST A few things! Getting ready to take my evening walk in a few minutes so this is a shorty!

My parents went to go look at cars since my dad's Highlander is on its last legs it seems. Looking at another Toyota like a RAV4 perhaps. I'd be surprised if they bought anything but another Toyota. I have seen the 2015 Camry and if I didn't love my BMW I might get too happy enough to buy that. I don't dig car payments at all so it stays where it is. All of our cars are paid for so the only serious payment ... Wed, 10 Sep 2014 22:44:36 EST I watched the movie... The Vow the other night, I wasn't sure who the actor was at first then figured out its Channing Tatum. (Great name btw) I guess I don't get the allure of these younger actors for the most part in a lot of movies these past few years. I saw no chemistry between him and the lady (Rachel McAdams) who played his wife. I prefer stronger males I think it is lol.

These Nicholas Sparks type Lifetime movies just don't cut it for me at all. I guess I have to stick with Denzel, Antonio, Wesl... Mon, 8 Sep 2014 07:42:56 EST Football, Rain and headaches~ Hola mi amigos!

Its been a few days, de nada! First off it rained hard earlier for a long while. It was coming in sideways and there was thunder and lightning. The cat loved it (sarcasm) probably won't make much of a dent in the water shortage but anything helps now.

The pressure changes gave me one heck of a splitting headache so coffee, sleep and a good shower helped abate the worst of it. I'll tell you before I lived here I really never had issues with migraines or h... Mon, 8 Sep 2014 01:34:42 EST Watched the first game football~ The Seahawks defeated The Packers 36-16! Looking forward to Sunday Night with Denver and Indy honestly. Basically Collinsworth and most of the color guys talk way too much during the games, if they cut out half of their comments then I would take them a little more serious. I am not looking forward to Joe Buck when he comes back from baseball. The days of Chick Hearn and Vin Scully like commentary are over I get that but really now less is more!

Joan Rivers passed away today, that ... Fri, 5 Sep 2014 00:34:58 EST Quiet restful day until tonight~ The fire alarm in my room was chirping since the battery needed to be changed! Crisis averted and all is well again!

Today I did a lot more walking but not so much my legs will cry so much. I did a fair amount of stretching, walking with Leslie, walking outdoors, stretching, biking and other assorted activity. I'm on the roll for September.

Earlier went to Sam's and stocked up for the month with food stuffs like bagels, rolls for sandwiches and all of that. Came home and... Tue, 2 Sep 2014 01:46:31 EST Struggling a little bit but perserverance~ Its left over from this last "episode" but I am pushing onward. This last week I had my female issues so there was that as well. I looked over my FitBit numbers for the past few weeks and I feel I need to do better with activity and things will improve for me even more!

I wasn't in the mood to read the paper today but I read the ads, its time for a Target excursion. I think I will go Tuesday since I have holiday continuance tomorrow. I try to avoid stores on holidays since I dislik... Sun, 31 Aug 2014 23:00:27 EST I am thinking Spark Tracker Gone! I don't use it, don't like it, BAD IDEA. Its okay though. Its perfectly functional & has an extra battery but I prefer my FitBit deluxe now!

I've been watching old Robin Williams videos on YouTube lol, funny times. I also watched a few press conferences the Expendables cast did. I never bother with that but I am an action movie junky, always have been since the 80's. I don't watch Vampire movies though, except BLADE. Love that one. Sorry Twilight, Interview with the Vampire not wa... Sat, 30 Aug 2014 02:34:17 EST I am burned out of Pre-Season Football Next Thursday night is the first week beginning :)~ I'm very ready honestly.

Its still quite warm here but cooling down. This weekend is Labour Day Weekend which should prove to be interesting. Baseball season has a few weeks to go before the playoffs start and my Dodgers and Angels may make it to the end and hit the playoffs. I'm not into hockey and basketball so much. I have to watch hockey and soccer in person to feel the excitement and want to watch it.

I'm doing muc... Fri, 29 Aug 2014 02:17:46 EST I like the new Spark Points page its more streamlined and easier to see at a glance. I'm not always resistant to change.

Didn't watch The Emmy's since I'm not much for awards shows so much anymore. You can look at the Emmy Fashions online, don't have to watch the show. Lena Dunham, there are no words sista lol! There were a few ladies who understood fashion. Octavia Spencer, Halle Berry, Julia Louis Dreyfus, Christine Baranski and a few others knocked it out of the park.

Changing up the exercise routin... Tue, 26 Aug 2014 02:30:42 EST Saturday its 95 today! That's like a cooling trend really! It is still pretty warm especially when you turn on the oven since on that side of the house is where the sun sets. Where I sleep in my bedroom office its where the sun rises and it can get pretty warm. September means cooler but still in the 90's-high 80's. October usually means fall by the middle of the month but we never get drastically cold weather which I prefer honestly.

Last night made chicken and a very huge pot of beans and rice for my b... Sat, 23 Aug 2014 17:11:46 EST An eventful day~ Just finished watching the Seahawks beat up on the Bears. Good game and week 3 shows cohesion better than weeks1-2 in the preseason most of the time. The starters play a half usually and the backups and second string are trying to earn their jobs. Looking for the Saints this weekend to see how they fare. I saw the Patriots result and I have no doubt The Patriots are pretty much ready for the season to begin.

Had red beans and rice with chicken for dinner and a salad. I skipped the... Sat, 23 Aug 2014 01:37:00 EST Just read a short article in Good Housekeeping! Mix it up for Max Results~ It was about adding variety to your workouts, it can double your weight loss, even if you don't diet. If your weekly workout includes cardio (steady and intense paced, interval style versions) strength training and yoga, you can lose twice as much weight as people who only do one type of exercise. So combining movement types seems to maximise calorie burn!!!

I'll still eat as healthy as I can thank you very much. I have been holding steady between 128-12... Thu, 21 Aug 2014 17:17:41 EST Its mid morning, feeling better! Working at making positive changes here. Its all you can do and have a lovely attitude. I joined a few teams this morning that may help me. I liked the Spark Teams better when you checked in that day and it noted you had checked in with that team on the main page. I don't mind change too much when its positive but that one was a bit rough since I liked being able to see where I had been at a glance. The articles are throwing me for a bit of a loop so far as well but I'll get on top of that on... Wed, 20 Aug 2014 14:41:09 EST Thanks for the support & comments~ I had a busy day today and I was at the store here, running an errand over there, picking up a library book I had on hold, coming home and putting away groceries and paper goods. I cooked dinner, cleaned up from dinner and sat down to watch The Redskins and Browns. A few days rest from football will be nice I must say. I love football but the preseason can be a bit nutty with games from Thursdays-Mondays. Who can get it all in I don't know. After week 2 it gets better but still game times var... Tue, 19 Aug 2014 00:30:02 EST Thought I'd give it one more...on depression~ I saw this on a website and forgot promptly what site it was! I'll give credit when I recall it. This is so true and this almost says it better than I explained depression the other day.

"I see a lot of comments everywhere, from people who don't understand how unrelenting depression is. I don't think I can do a better job of explaining it than the author of Hyperbole and Half: but I'll try anyway.

It's not something you can power th... Mon, 18 Aug 2014 01:53:00 EST Pink, really now! Robin Williams Yes, I've never done up my page in pink but it was called for since seeing the news about Robin Williams has me in a bit of a tailspin. You see he was one of my favourite people in the world, not just an exceptional actor, humanitarian, comedian and entertainer. I will always remember his appearances on Craig Ferguson's Late Late Show, so frakkin wonderful. He was the only person who could make me laugh down to my soul. He was such a good friend to Christopher Reeve. I've always felt comedian... Tue, 12 Aug 2014 14:14:54 EST A Very Quick One I feel a bit under the weather tonight, my stomach is a bit off but tomorrow is another day, I'm sure I'll feel better. I think it was dinner, pepper gets my system every time!

Watched football, Seattle & Denver and 49'ers & Ravens, love August~ Fri, 8 Aug 2014 02:26:13 EST
