I started the project in March of 2013 and completed it December of 2014.

Working on a Led Zeppelin piece, hoping I plug through this one a little quicker but so far that's not the case lol

<img src="http:... Thu, 19 Feb 2015 13:34:18 EST Week 9 PAWSE PLAN/PREPARE:

I plan to keep track of my food intake. Spark has adjusted my calorie intake to 1400 - 1700 which seems to be working for me. I have packed my fridge with healthy options and have an idea of my dinners. I'm not the best at planning meals and tend not to stick to it, but rather do things I know are right for me and watch as a track. I've also decided to keep some days low card and some days lower calorie. Monday & Tuesday will be low carb. My exercise is less in... Tue, 6 May 2014 21:54:47 EST BLC 25 Fitness Test - First Week So I did the fitness test and I'm having mixed feelings about it. I thought I would see improvement, but in fact there was very little since Jan. when I did my last test.

Push ups (I did modified rather than wall for the first time ever, what a mistake) managed 20
Crunches is where I excelled, I managed to get in 47, last test was 36.
Mile I managed 13.33 for my mile which is the EXACT number I had in Jan LOL
Step ups - I have nothing to compare to but I felt terri... Thu, 1 May 2014 19:43:51 EST The Small Things (An NSV celebration) Today I was getting dressed for my run and since its bitter cold here I decided snow pants were in order. These snow pants have been my nemesis since they lived in the store.

My friends and I like to toboggan at night and the last few years have been chilly. I was tired of being cold and decided to get snow pants. I went to the out door store with a friend and spent TWO HOURS trying to find a pair that would fit. Frustrated wouldn't even describe how I was feeling that day. ... Wed, 22 Jan 2014 22:24:13 EST Story Time - My Journey to Becoming Overweight - BLC 23 I was a big baby when I was born. I weighed in at 9 lbs 1 ounce. They believed at the time that I was that big because my mother is a diabetic and diabetics tend to have big babies. My twin brother and sister were 7'11 and 6'6 to give you an idea.

Here's the baby pic

I was always a larger kid, just seemed to be bone structure, always weighing in higher than average but I was also tall right fro... Sun, 6 Oct 2013 16:58:21 EST The Start of BLC and My First Success With the beginning of a new round of the BLC I'm finding myself going into it with a completely different attitude than last time. In the last round I was always so disappointed on weigh in days because the weight just wasn't coming off. My main focus was on what that scale said each Wed rather than the real successes.

This round I want to focus on my true successes and acknowledge them as I see them. No more hard work just to be saddened by one number out of many that I could b... Wed, 25 Sep 2013 12:54:53 EST Some NSV's I've recently had some NSV's that I hummed and hawed about sharing. They are kinda silly so I was sharing them with my immediate family and close friends. My mother recently asked me if I'd shared any of them with my BLC group and I told her I hadn't because they were silly. She has encouraged me to post them and that they are not silly at all. So here goes

1) When I get a bath now my hips no longer rest against the side of the tub (stopping the water from flowing by me) I n... Wed, 11 Sep 2013 14:18:29 EST First "Real" Pics - BLC 22/23 Break I completed BLC 22 recently and when asked to post a before picture I shied away from posting "real" before photos. I posted a family photo of me from a year or so ago. I look the same, but I wasn't comfortable having my photo taken.

I have a teammate who recently shared her before and after photos and it inspired me to get some posted. (Thank you Nicole)

These pics are end of BLC 22 results, mid break photo and start of BLC 23 before photo (maybe) all in two photos. ... Tue, 10 Sep 2013 00:10:14 EST BLC 22 End Results I had a rough start to the BLC - I had croupe for the first 3 weeks which then resulted in a cracked rib and pulled chest muscles. A knee injury followed and its really only been the last 4 weeks that I have been able to push for exercise.

I know I can do better with my food, I keep falling back into the eating out habit simply out of laziness to cook. This needs improvement.

With baseball ending I won't have as much regular exercise, but I did join volleyball so that... Tue, 27 Aug 2013 22:00:58 EST My Plans for the Future I've made some big moves in my life over the last 12 weeks during the BLC 22 so my plans for the future are already in the works.

First off, I've joined BLC 23 so my plan to lose weight and reach my goal will be continued in the future.

Secondly, I've told my company that I'm done, I've committed to Oct so they can find a suitable replacement and if there's no position available for me I'll be leaving for another company. With this comes the writing of the resume and fi... Sat, 24 Aug 2013 15:05:38 EST I Took the Stairs Today I went for an appt and needed to park in the parking garage. Mid afternoon at a Dr.'s office is never great for parking. I decided to go to the top. I took the elevator down and then took the stairs back up.

7 floors up, step by step. I counted to occupy my mind, I walked 92 stairs. Although I was short of breath it was a nothing climb. When I started 11 weeks ago I would not have been able to do. My knees would have ached, my hips. I would have started my struggle on... Thu, 15 Aug 2013 19:51:49 EST Blogging Just Cuz Today is one of those days where I have no appetite, BUT if you put a cake in front of me I will eat it. I want McDonald's, chocolate, candy, chips and yet I packed myself a day of food that I've been eating for 3 weeks. Satisfied with all those foods for the past 3 weeks. Today it was dreadful eating them. I gagged on the spinach - which I like - the cucumber was just awful and they're one of my favorites to munch on. Nothing that isn't bad for me seems worth eating.

I WAY un... Tue, 13 Aug 2013 15:54:44 EST Low Low Low I just don't know how else to describe my moods these days. I feel drained, miserable, uninterested and frustrated easily. All sounds like depression to be frank, the problem is I'm not depressed, my usual bouts with depression are no longer. My anxiety is under control and yet I can't get myself interested.

I know that work is taking a hefty toll on me right now. I struggle at work to enjoy what I'm doing and I'm committed until Oct (long story about resigning and agreeing to s... Fri, 9 Aug 2013 12:55:33 EST Clean Eating This weeks challenge for the BLC is to eat clean for the week. This absolutely petrified me and immediately I was defensive. My initial thought was "I'll do what I can, but I will eat what I want." Stubborn to say the least.

I'm 3 days in only to discover that I actual do eat clean providing I am planning my meals. I've never been a processed food person, I was raised in a meat, potato and veggie kind of household. As I grew older I expanded a little but not by much, BUT it wa... Fri, 2 Aug 2013 15:28:12 EST 6 Week BLC Reflection I have struggled over the last 6 weeks. I started the challenge quite sick and ended up with an injury because of the sickness. Once recovered I had about a week before I was injured again. I've pushed through what I can, but have been left feeling like I have not given my all.

I have been honest with my team and more importantly myself with regards to my eating and fitness. I had a calorie count that was far too low for the first couple weeks which slowed my weight loss, alm... Fri, 19 Jul 2013 09:20:24 EST Discouragement - Its only in your head, but so is encouragement! Yesterday I was on a big high! I did my midway (BLC) fitness test and measurements and the difference was remarkable.

I went from 22 push ups, 26 crunches and 23 squats to 38, 44 and 38 - almost doubled everything. I cut 4 min off my mile run. I was down 16 inches, mainly in my chest, bust and waist. I was on top of the moon! I pushed myself to get everything done and sat down to talk myself into being satisfied with my progress. And then I got on the scale this morning..... <... Tue, 16 Jul 2013 14:45:45 EST Not Eating enough - AGAIN - HELP..... I'm again getting the you need to increase your food intake based on your fitness minutes. This week alone I'm sitting around 4600 calories burned and I'm only eating 1300 on average a day. I still have 2 more baseball games to play tomorrow and then the unpacking this week.

Could I have been up that 1 pound because my body wants more food? I struggle to even get within range so the thought of having to eat even more seems frightful.

My average burned calories per wee... Thu, 20 Jun 2013 22:14:23 EST Motivational Photo Link for GP Sun, 16 Jun 2013 21:05:40 EST Feeling Good The BLC challenge has been going very well. I started off rocky and after a visit to the Dr. and finding out the problem I was able to adjust my days and begin to succeed. My mood is up, my energy is up, overall things are going well.

Our weigh in was yesterday and I was down a couple pounds. Nice to see after having 4 days without much exercise. I know weight fluctuates and its not the end all be all, but who can say that seeing that little change doesn't boost their mood. <BR... Thu, 13 Jun 2013 23:31:47 EST The Wizard of Oz Project - My Nemesis As promised here is a picture of what I am making - 60 hours of sewing thus far. This is a 16 page pattern and what you see completed is 2 full pages and 2 more partial pages. There is the remaining part of the castle to the left of Dorothy and under Dorothy there is still the lion, scarecrow and tin man that need to be added........

Tue, 11 Jun 2013 09:28:03 EST It Never Fails - Neither Do I As always when I set my mind to improving my health, body and overall happiness something steps in the way. I'm sure everyone experiences this, at least one time or another, in life.

Struggling with my cough and chest pains I went back to the Dr. today and found out that I've pulled my chest muscles and cracked a rib from all the coughing. I guess 6 weeks of coughing can do that - who knew.....

I've been taken out of work again for another week because it has become pa... Mon, 10 Jun 2013 22:08:41 EST BLC 22 Goals - Previously posted, but edited and reposted for the weekend challenge I had originally posted the following goals prior to joining my team and starting the challenge:

My goals for the 12 week program are as follows

1) Maintain 8 glasses of water per day
2) Get in at least 20 min of cardio per day
3) 15 - 20 min of stretching or strength training minimum of 3 times per week
4) Stay within the suggested calorie range at least 5 times per week
5) Eat one portion of each food group with each meal at least 5 times per week <... Fri, 7 Jun 2013 13:02:09 EST I'm still here - sorta! Thursday night I headed over to the hospital, I just wasn't feeling right and although I was on antibiotics for more than 3 weeks my breathing wasn't getting any easier. It was actually getting worse. My cough was also getting worse and I was so tired. The exhaustion was unimaginable. They immediately admitted me and put me on oxygen. Started running all kinds of tests. I was so exhausted I wasn't making any sense talking to them which I think made them rush a little more.

N... Wed, 22 May 2013 10:11:24 EST Beans, Beans, the Magical Fruit..... Need some assistance understanding beans.....

I bought dried beans rather than canned and after my third attempt at prepping them I feel like I've wasted my money.....

I have soaked them and soaked them and soaked them and just in case I soaked them again. I soaked the first round of beans overnight and they were rock hard. I then soaked them for another 8 hours, still hard. I have now been boiling them for over an hour and these beans are STILL HARD 40 <B... Tue, 21 May 2013 18:43:05 EST Feeling a Wee Bit Better Today I woke the tiniest bit better. I stayed home from work today to get more rest. When I got out of bed today my motivation was low. I started slowly with juice and rested for an hour or so. After getting showered and out of my pj's I felt a little more motivated. "I got my act together" as my Grandma would say. 224

I then weighed myself and although tomorrow is my one week weigh in not only for myself but for my challenges I knew I needed to once again see ... Tue, 21 May 2013 13:36:48 EST Just Checkin in I'm pretty sick......My energy level is very low, my sinus' are plugged up to the point that my eyes hurt Just overall crummy. I did not eat well today, I drank a lot of vitamin C drinks which also raised my calorie count high, but my food choices were poor.

I've done so well logging in and tracking and writing daily that I didn't want to miss doing that so here I am to say today was low and a fail in both exercise/moving in general as well as eating. Sun, 19 May 2013 09:36:17 EST Advice on Calorie Intake? I play sports, baseball in the summer, volleyball in the winter. I spend a lot of time on the ball field and the calories burned are significant on nights when I play for 2 - 2.5 hours straight. Spark originally set me between 1200 - 1500 calories for my meal plan and I went out and bought all the groceries and food they told me to get and the proportions they told me to get.

If I up my calorie intake all my meals will change and I will have wasted the groceries I got, so I wa... Fri, 17 May 2013 20:26:26 EST BLC Challenge - So Excited! Finally, after 4 night of being on spark and searching my little heart out I have found the BLC challenge and apparently just in time to get on a team and start the 12 weeks come the beginning of June.

3 years ago I did the challenge and lost the weight I needed to for surgery. I knew when I signed up this time around that I HAD to find this challenge if it still existed or find a similar challenge. The support, challenges, motivation and overall competition of this challenge ke... Fri, 17 May 2013 20:21:16 EST Keeping on Track With SP being down last night I wasn't able to post my sleep journal so I'm posting now for Wednesday night and Thursday night.

Wednesday I got to bed on time and woke up on time, was very tired Thursday morning and avoided exercising. Did some stretching but that was it. I then got a phone call @ 4 pm to play 2 games of baseball last night which I agreed to. Playing sports for me is more motivational than anything else in an effort to get exercise so for 2 hours and 20 min I p... Fri, 17 May 2013 09:34:12 EST Down 3 Pounds - Grocery Shop Done - 7.5 hours of sleep - 3 Checks! So far so good I guess. I am however exhausted and still need to put a few more groceries away and prepare a pork tenderloin for lunch tomorrow.

When I awoke I weighed myself to get a precise weight and I was already down 3 pounds, convenient LOL. I managed to get 7.5 hours of sleep over the 5 I normally do and fit in some exercise throughout the day.

While I'm learning to eat better and put exercise into my life I also need to learn time management in order to g...
