My DH goes out to the van and it's dead. Nothing, not even a click. We tried not to stress about it, pushed it out of the way and loaded into our other vehicle and went to church. We were supposed to take the van on our little camping trip this week but when we got home from church and tried to jump the van, it was DEAD. Long story short, we unpacked... Tue, 8 Jul 2014 17:18:52 EST Taking it All in Stride http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5729159 So long story short, we did NOT get placement of the little guy we met about last week. It turns out they went with the other family who has no kids in the home and they felt it would be better for the little guy to get all the attention for a while.

We were disappointed but not too much so since we're ultimately confident God has this all in hand. Mon, 30 Jun 2014 15:02:42 EST Presentation Meeting http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5726703 Today was the meeting between us, our worker and the child's worker. It went well. We got additional information, asked our questions and they said they'll let us know which family they're going to go with by Monday afternoon.

DH and I decided we would accept the placement if they choose us. The child's "stuff" is stuff we feel we can deal with within our home. So now we wait. Only a few more days, though. I'll definitely keep everyone posted. Thu, 26 Jun 2014 22:31:11 EST Never Simple http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5715578 So this is a quick update to my most recent update…

Turns out there is one other family also meeting with the child's worker for the individual child. One is a boy who's from our same region of the state and one is a sibling group of 2 boys who live in the southern part of the state. We set up our meeting with the worker for the single boy first (since she contacted our worker first) and then we'll go forward from there.

This is pretty huge since ... Tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon is a karate tournament that DS and I are participating in. I have to say, doing this as a 37 year old woman has a bit of an intimidation factor for me. Apparently, all our prayer warrior friends did their job. God answered and we are thankful.

I got a message from our social worker today that we are no longer being considered for placement for the kids I'd mentioned earlier this week. Thu, 24 Apr 2014 13:44:58 EST Finally…a Response http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5677933 Yesterday we got some cool news. We're being considered as a possible match for some kids for adoption. They sent us additional info and wanted to know if we we're still interested. We are, but have some questions/reservations since the kids have been through a lot (all the kids in foster care have, though). The matching meeting is the beginning of May, so we'll find out after that if we were chosen for the kids. That's when we can ask all of our questions and decide if we want to proceed... Nothing has come as a result yet. We've found out that a few of them now have pending placements which makes me very happy that those kids have prospective homes. With some kids, we ended up finding out that they were likely not a good fit for our family due to their extensive needs. So, we just keep looking and trusting that in God's... We made the corrections and sent it back to her today.

Sure, we thought we'd be done with all this by now, but there were delays due to the holidays and our social worker's family being ill for an extended period. I frequently comment that I was not bred for Wisconsin. I deal with it admirably but much prefer the other 3 seasons to winter, summer being my favorite, of course. I have already firmly stated to my husband that we need to find a warm place to spend winters once he retires.

This crazy Polar Vortex going through the upper Midwest right now is just putting an exclamation point on my dislike of cold. At first, when I got my membership life was very different. I was working part-time and needed an outlet. The gym is fantastic. I loved the classes I went to and it gave me additional motivation to get there and get my exercise in. I was even getting up for the early class so I could go before work. I was going at least 12 times per month, so we were getting our health insurance reimbursement which made it very affordable.
<BR... I took oodles of tomatoes and made my usual chili and spaghetti sauce and then just plain cooked down tomatoes and froze all that.

Then I had half a head of green cabbage leftover after making cole slaw and decided to try that Weight Watchers Zero point stew/soup I'd heard about but never tried. So, yesterday I made a batch of it and DS and I both agreed it was entirely edible and incredibly filling... Tue, 17 Sep 2013 23:29:28 EST PR for 2013 5Ks http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5486407 Yesterday DS and I ran our 6th 5K of the year and we both got PRs (personal records). It was pretty cool since I was sore from doing kettle bells at the gym on Friday morning. My glutes were killing me and I was concerned it was gonna be a literal pain in the butt the whole run.

The other reason it was surprising I did well is because about 1/4 to 1/2 mile in to the race which was on a trail, I rolled my ankle on a rock about the size of a golf ball. I kinda limped a bit immed... Sun, 15 Sep 2013 17:19:48 EST The Talk http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5484754 So after some questions about "personal" things, DD let me know last month she thought she was ready for "the talk." I told her we'd find some time and make a mom-daughter date of it. Well, unintentionally it got put off due to busy schedules and all. Today is the day, though.

We're going golfing and then out to eat and then possibly to a jewelry party at a friend's house. I'm glad she feels comfortable telling when she is ready to hear this kinda stuff because, with her, I was... Thu, 12 Sep 2013 21:04:27 EST We Met Stacy http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5464491 So today was the big day. We met our adoption social worker. Her name is Stacy.

She came to our house and did our introductory meeting. It went really well and I'm thankful to God that she seems to be a really realistic and straight-forward but positive person. I trust that she is an answer to our prayers for a good fit for our family with our social worker.

Strangely the stress I've felt lately has had very little or nothing to do with this visit. This was actual... Fri, 23 Aug 2013 23:18:57 EST My First Mud Run - Muck Ruckus 2013 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5452177 Yesterday, August 10, 2013, my son and I did our first mud run. It was a 5 mile run with 20+ mud pits and obstacles along the way. We were both so excited we could hardly wait.

At the starting line the emcee said, "If you didn't train for this you should have. If you DID train for this, you didn't train enough." Oh boy, did we ever find that to be true!
<img src="http://photos-ak.sparkpeople.com/nw/1/9/l... Sun, 11 Aug 2013 21:46:09 EST
