The brand is a little pricey, but I like that many of their products are organic and their website has a lot of infomration about how they are farmed and produced. I did choose to order from Amazon since the prices were more reasonable. So, I didn't even order the Echinacea...I ended up ordering the 12 day Supreme Cleanse which consists of a fiber drink in the morning and a liver ... Tue, 4 Feb 2014 14:39:24 EST I've got to do better...do more! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5566454 I just came back from my 6 month follow up visit for the pre-gestational diabetes and despite that I've been exercising pretty consistently, my A1C went up by .1 . I'm glad it didn't go up much more...but I was seriously expecting a decrease. I must admit that I have been tracking my exercise regularly for the most part, but not my food intake. So I have no idea what I may have done wrong, except to guesstimate. That's not good enough, so I'm really going to step up my efforts to to do bett... Tue, 17 Dec 2013 11:15:27 EST Pre Diabetes?? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5287597 I went for my semi-annual dr. visit today and was informed that I am pre-diabetic. I knew something was up because there would be times I would be just so sleepy after eating...I just didn't feel right. After narrowing it down, I found this to occur after eating foods high in carbs. So I did modidfy my diet by increasing whole grains, cutting out soda, and increasing veggies, decreasing alcohol intake and exercising a whole lot more. Despite these efforts, I remain borderline, so I still ... Fri, 15 Mar 2013 10:42:06 EST Small changes lead to big results http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5137317 I know that trying to implement an all out change to my eating habits and exercise routine immediately just won't work. In order for me to slowly modify my former habits and maintian a healthier lifestyle I'm going to have to make small changes that yield a big impact first.
What can I give up easily? Soda. No problem there, I've never been one to buy it that often for the household and there are just so many other things I enjoy drinking that I can easily give that up. Honestly,... Fri, 16 Nov 2012 10:24:11 EST FB vs SP http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4919798 I bet I'd be more consistent with reaching my fitness goals if I checked into SP as frequently as I check in and lounge around on FB!

It's been a year since my last blog entry, my Spark Streak percentages are in the toilet...ugh, this is ridiculous. And my weight is the same now as it was this time last year. I've got to do better. Sun, 10 Jun 2012 08:08:12 EST Healthy cooking http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4294459 I'm finally trying out some of the recipes from the Spark Recipes site. For tonight's dinner, Pong Pong Pork Chop...they turned out pretty good, got the thumbs up from my daughter and mom. Later in the week, Veggie Lasagna and Herbed Bulgur Salad. I also stocked my pantry with some brown rice and lentils. Mid week I will pick up some more fresh fruit and veggies. Slowly but surely, incorporating more and more healthy lifestyle into my daily routine.

This morning I did a step ci... Sun, 12 Jun 2011 22:03:22 EST Slight progress http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4282415 Finally the scale budged!! I've been trying to get out of the 130's for a few months and I hit 129. Not much below, but its significant enough for me because I don't want to go back up. I haven't gone food shopping yet this week and am out of pretty much all my healthy lunches and fruit, wheat bread etc. Rather than not have anything I opted for Wheatena on this already sweltering morning, lol! With only one Tbs of butter it's kind of yucky but I know it will fill me up and not have me ... Tue, 7 Jun 2011 06:53:57 EST Pushing through it http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4282102 Today's workout was a challenge. Belly dance class was cancelled tonight and I arrived at the gym late because I had to help my daughter with her homework. I needed a fairly high intensity cardio workout to try and burn my targeted calories for the day. Rather than walk/jog on the treadmill I decided to tackle the elliptical machine for 25 minutes. At 10 minutes I was ready to give up...in my head I was thinking of ways to take a break, trying to convince myself that I did enough already or ... Mon, 6 Jun 2011 23:44:10 EST Holding steady:-( http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4258331 My weight hasn't changed since May 4th...I'm still at 131. It's like I lost that initial 5lbs and the rest is staying put. I don't know how I'm going to make progress now that the summer is here with all these cookouts and family outings. This is going to be pure torture!!

I'm going to see if I can make time to do even more cardio during the week... Thu, 26 May 2011 18:04:58 EST Day 1: Stress Journal (Rant?) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4243344 I've been in a slight slump and haven't exercised at all for close to 5 days. I just couldn't get motivated and had too much on my mind. My car acting up was the main issue. I'm facing the dilemma as to put money into a car that I don't really want to drive anymore or fix it and ride that bitch til she croaks.

This may sound petty to some, but to me it drives me up the wall...I hate for my stuff to turn up missing, especially things that I paid good money. My Cutco knives cost ... Thu, 19 May 2011 12:50:57 EST Crackers and crab dip http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4197665 My mom says, "I know you don't want to mess up your diet, but had to check and see if you want some crackers and crab dip?" Me, "Nope, just got back from pilates...where's my waterrrrr!!" Oh, it looked soo good, but it's 11 o'clock and I'm not even hungry. I gulped down some water to fight the urge. Thu, 28 Apr 2011 23:14:17 EST All I have to do is get through this week http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4164832 Ever since April 6, there's been back to back birthdays this month. In addition, my girlfriend and I planned a spa day with dinner afterwards and at the job we had to take a co-worker out to celebrate her promotion, another day I ate out with a co-worker I hadn't seen in a while. I've been doing my best to make healthy, lower calorie selections while also getting a good non-salad (preferably) meal...and it's been a challenge. At the job luncheon I was able to order a honey wheat wrap with ... Thu, 14 Apr 2011 07:59:04 EST It feels good to be able to say NO http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4156795 This weekend I celebrated my daughter's 10th birthday with a sleepover. You know that means lots of snacks and goodies. Not only did I refrain from overeating sweets, I didn't really miss them. I did enjoy a handful of chips and cheese doodles and that was it! On Saturday night I made dinner for my friend and I, the only thing that put me over my calories for the day was one stinking glass (short glass at that) of vodka and ginger ale. Guess I have to do diet mixers, lol. Finally, on Sund... Sun, 10 Apr 2011 22:58:46 EST Almost a week in http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4144496 and I'm still going kind of strong. Heck, I'm putting in more work than I have in a long time. Last night I did my belly dance class and then headed straight to the gym for 40 more minutes of cardio on the treadmill and then did some strength training. I wasn't too motivated to work out over the weekend, but I did get a lot of housework done. Maybe one day I'll get to the point where I feel like doing both but right now, my energy level isn't that high. So far, I'm pleased with my prog... Tue, 5 Apr 2011 14:48:56 EST Planning for the Weekend http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4135522 This first week back to tracking my diet and focusing on my fitness has gone fairly well. I ate breakfast daily and packed my lunch which really helped me stay on track with my calorie intake. I do need to pick up some healthy snacks from the grocery store because twice I had a taste for something crunchy and ate a bag of Doritos one day and a bag of chips the next...that decision really cost me alot as far as fat and calories. Fortunately it didn't put me over the recommended amount of da... Fri, 1 Apr 2011 22:03:02 EST Eye candy at the gym =Serious MOTIVATION http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4131427 Yesterday I decided to focus more on my heath and fitness by becoming more active on SP again. Although I haven't been on here in a while, I've continued to do my bellydancing and engage in fitness fun on the Wii with my kids. Anyone who thinks that you can't burn calories by playing the Wii is sorely mistaken. My favorite is the West African inspired Dagomba on Just Dance2; its enough to get your heart racing and underarms sweaty. We also have the Michael Jackson Experience and the Zumba ... Thu, 31 Mar 2011 11:02:49 EST Reward as motivation... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3140829 This year has been quite challenging in my career. I'm still acclimating to a new position with much more responsibility and also started a part time job to compensate for 10 mandatory furlough days. Trying to find the extra energy to work out consistently is difficult but now I have some real motivation...a week long trip to Hawaii. Initially I felt a little guilty about taking a vacation without the kids, but I committed to also doing a separate vacation with them. The Hawaii trip will ... Tue, 20 Apr 2010 12:44:25 EST As the weather changes... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3105777 There's so much more opportunity for me to work out...and less reason to find excuses as to why I didn't now that the weather is so beautiful. Although I don't go to the gym regularly, I do exercise most often outdoors by biking, hiking and walking. Oh, yard work is another great way to burn calories too. Every year I keep thinking I'm going to finally reach my goals...I have to keep pushing on and staying motivated daily so I can finally get there. Mr. Golden Sun, keep shining on me so I... Sun, 11 Apr 2010 12:19:35 EST Setting manageable goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3011953 My enthusiasm for my Spark Teams hasn't decreased, but I find that trying to track every goal for each of my teams is very difficult. I've had to reset the tracker so many times because I committed to tracking too many things. So, I am back to bare bones...looking at my Fast Break Goals, tracking my mileage for the week and making sure I drink 8 glasses of water per day. I am still going to track my food intake...but now I won't feel so guilty if I don't for a few days. Wed, 17 Mar 2010 16:23:29 EST On the road to healthy living...take 4 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2416999 So, this weekend I suffered a major setback, but I'm back at it again. Thanks to the positive feedback and encouragement here on SP, I realize that I am not alone in this journey and that setbacks are bound to occur....I just need to move on and try again.

I started off with healthy Sunday dinner and ate the leftovers for lunch today. This evening, I am going to plan the remainder of meals (including lunches) for this week. On Friday night, I have a retirement party to go to w... Mon, 21 Sep 2009 12:40:36 EST Bummer http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2415711 Back up a few pounds. I knew it was going to happen, I just have such a difficult time resisting overeating when I am out. Yesterday at the fight party, I ate mac n cheese, fried chicken, sausage and peppers, taco dip and I wasn't even that hungry. I just ate it because it was there, part of the party and it looked good. I wouldn't feel so bad if I had smaller portions, but I rationalize and say 'oh, I'll make up for it by doing extra exercise tomorrow', which of course I didn't do. So, he... Sun, 20 Sep 2009 23:48:32 EST Walk from NJ to PA and back http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2411783 Have you ever seen pics of a bridge in Trenton of a bridge that says "Trenton makes the world takes"? Well during my lunch time walk, I crossed over one bridge leading into Morrisville, PA and that bridge was about 1/1/2 miles down leading back into NJ. On the way we also passed by many historic landmarks and buildings in Trenton that I had never seen before...the War Memorial was one such landmark. Next time I will be sure to bring my camera. I love a walk where you can engage in good co... Sat, 19 Sep 2009 09:10:04 EST A beautiful day to celebrate motherhood... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2050559 Today my girls gave me some beautiful gifts for Mother's Day...handmade cards, a vase filled with candy, and certificates for breakfast, free babysits, and 'me' time. After that, I decided to take the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful weather and get some good exercising time in. For the past week we've had rain almost everyday. But today, the sun was shining and there was a nice light breeze. I downloaded James Patterson's Lifeguard onto my phone and pulled out my bike. I drove down to ... Sun, 10 May 2009 19:43:52 EST Before Pics for the Sweatsuit to Swimsuit Challenge http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2048542 I'm a week late in posting my before pics for the Sweatsuit to Swimsuit Challenge, but I did complete all of the work out videos this week. Actually, I do o.k. in doing some sort of exercise on a regular basis, my main problem is I eat too much, and too much of the wrong things. I really need to get my body measurements too so I can better track progress on inches lost. It's so crazy, I remember taking weight gain pills back in the day because I wanted to have a bit more booty...I was a si... Sat, 9 May 2009 21:35:00 EST Finally wore my new costume to Spring Caravan--shimmy shimmy! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2043680 Back in October when I advanced to the Intermediate level belly dance class, I had the opportunity to order my first bra, belt, skirt costume. Our beginner level costume is a one piece spangle dress that covers the entire body, however this new outfit bares the mid section. So, my goal was to work really hard to tone up and shrink my little pouch so I'd look nice in my costume. Although I still have about 12 more pounds to go, I still decided to wear my new costume at the Spring Caravan la... Thu, 7 May 2009 22:00:50 EST I've got to be prepared http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2023620 Today I had a serious snack attack. I was doing so well, but someone bought in Dunkin Donuts coffee and donuts for a morning meeting. At first I ignored the donuts and just drank the coffee. But I didn't have any healthy snacks left at work so by lunch time I was STARVING. Well, I figured since I didn't have a snack it would be ok to eat the donut. It was sinfully delicious, I licked the chocolate off my fingers and everything, lol. Best donut I had in my whole life, lol . 4 <B... Fri, 1 May 2009 16:47:18 EST Breakfast does make a difference! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2014376 I've noticed that I am less hungry at lunch time since I've started eating breakfast on a regular basis. Even if its just toast and a banana, my appetite is curbed and I even snack less.

On another note, I'm going to really start trying to do more meal planning. I'd like to incorporate some more interesting salads into the mix. I've got this book 'Simply Salads: More than 100 delicious recipes made from Prepackaged Greens and a Few Easy to Find Ingerdients' by Jennifer Chandle... Tue, 28 Apr 2009 16:59:58 EST Feels good! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1984115 Today I biked for 12 miles through 3 towns on a wonderful trail! I've been meaning to try it out, but never found the time. Well, today I finally did it with a few of my pals from my Beyond the Gym Meetup group. I didn't even feel worn out, but then again, we were traveling at a fairly leisurely 8-10mph. But I still think that's a pretty good start. When I got home, I did the Abs of Steel workout on Excercise Tv. So, I'm good for today. All I have to do now is track my meals. Tonight I ... Sat, 18 Apr 2009 14:39:31 EST Am I really ready? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1979057 I started out very motivated to lost this extra weight. It's only 15 pounds after all, how hard can it be? Well, apparently, it's a lot harder than I thought. Even keeping up with drinking the 8 glasses of water a day is a REAL struggle! I continually try and regroup and refocus...but my preference for instant gratification and procrastination typically wins out and I go on ahead and indulge...thinking I will make up for it with extra excercise later. So what can I do? I guess keep tryi... Thu, 16 Apr 2009 16:27:44 EST While the motivation is strong... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1908554 I've had several failed attempts at losing the extra pounds I've accumulated over the past 5 years and when my mom kept encouraging me to join her in committing to losing pounds, initially I resisted. Basically, I had become resigned to the fact that the pounds were there and maybe it wasn't so bad after all. Who has the time to go on a diet and fit in more time to excercise with all the other running around I have to do? But, her motivation was contagious and she kept talking about it and...
