I don't like running on ice or snow so I've been taking my runs to the treadmill this winter. This morning I did my 5K run for the 5 by the 5th Virtual Run series. I was hoping for a time under 33 minutes this time so I pushed myself and was rewarded with a time of 31:48. I was very happy to see this and was covered with sweat. Awesome feeling!

There is... Fri, 1 Mar 2013 11:48:22 EST What Have You Done Today? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5267136 "What have you done today, to make you feel proud?" or as Mike asked me the other day, "What have you done today to prepare for the Chicago Marathon?"

I was feeling lazy to do my scheduled Hills Workout and could still hear Mike's voice asking me, but I continued to read my email and running blogs to get inspired, only because I didn't want to run up and down The Hill, four times in this yucky snow/slush stuff. Then I came upon an article about Challenging Yourself with Treadmill... Thu, 28 Feb 2013 11:15:19 EST I like my Snowshoes! :) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3847966 Now that we have had more than plenty of snow (what was I asking for) and finished up all the shovelling and other outdoor work, it was time to break out the snowshoes again and play. Whew! It really is quite the workout, especially breaking track in the snow. I thought that I was in good shape, but I was breathing heavier than I do when I hike (with backpack and poles). Why didn't I buy myself a pair of snowshoes last year? I love this!

These will come in handy when I head ou... Thu, 16 Dec 2010 18:03:50 EST Funny Cat Story http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3392895 We have a tiger striped cat who was the runt of the litter and we used to call him "That Runty Cat" whenever we were playing with the litter of kittens. The name Runty stuck, so we took him home with us.

He likes to be an outside cat and will only want to come inside if he's scared, wet, or cold. He doesn't like to use the litter box and will hold him and meow "Out...." in that cat tone to be let outside and then he'll jump over the fence and head straight for the woods to do his... Fri, 2 Jul 2010 12:44:01 EST Beware of Turkeys! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3270321 I sure screamed today. I bought some new nordic pole yesterday for hiking and took them on a trail with me today to give them a try. This trail was kind of overgrown and I was watching out for poison ivy. I had just stepped over a log and heard a funny noise just in front of me. I screamed at first and then it jumped up and off the trail. It was a huge turkey!!! It was really gobbling but then it started to run at me to chase me off. I backed up and kept backing up and it got really agressi... Wed, 26 May 2010 13:11:17 EST My Olympic Vacation http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2906774 I never thought I would be able to go to the Olympics but my husband is a huge fan of The Games and as soon as they announced they were going to be in Canada, he started to make plans for us to go.

We seen a Women's Hockey Game, two Men's Hockey Games, Pairs Figure Skating, and Short Track Speed Skating. We also went to the Opening Ceremonies. It was quite cool as e everyone got an audience participation kit in which was included the cardboard (very sturdy) drum which everything ... Sat, 20 Feb 2010 20:38:13 EST Wii Walk It Out http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2761878 I am absolutely addicted to this game. I wind up playing the game for about an hour at a time as I keep telling myself, just one more event capsule. I usually see something that I want to save up for like a new route, or a bridge.

This morning, at the top of Lookout Mountain, I opened up an Airship. It looks pretty cool floating around the sky. Been hanging around the ranch area for awhile so I think that I might look at the map and see where else I might want to venture on ...
