MRSMIKEJG's SparkPeople Blog MRSMIKEJG's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Day 4 - 100 Day Challenge Already completed my Day 4 challenge. Today I popped in the Wii Zumba Fitness Core game and chose a medium length class. So much fun as the game has the songs already pre-loaded in a workout class format and I just stick the Wiimote into the belt that is strapped around my hips and away I go. Started off with a nice warmup song and then progressed into some great cardio songs. I like how they help to bring down the heartrate with some easier songs but then right back into it with the very ... Tue, 26 Jul 2016 10:14:33 EST Day 3 - 100 Day Challenge I was sore this morning when I woke up from doing my long run yesterday but I had to get up and get ready for work so no relaxing in bed today. This morning I was at my part-time job at the health centre which involves a lot of sitting but I was working on some files today so was able to stand up and sit down several times.
This afternoon I was at my other part-time job and we went for a walk along the Bay this afternoon and had some good social time. Afterwards I had some shopping to... Mon, 25 Jul 2016 21:44:39 EST Day 2 - 100 Day Challenge Day 2 Workout was a scheduled 19 kilometre long slow distance training run. I'm in training for Detroit Marathon this year so I usually do my long run on the weekend and the shorter runs during the week. I slept in this morning because I went to bed a little late last night dealing with Fitbit syncing issues so I missed my opportunity to get out and do some photographing first thing this morning and the opportunity to go outside and run before it got overly hot.

I like to start... Sun, 24 Jul 2016 13:24:48 EST 100 Days Challenge - Day 1 Some days I just feel so sluggish and need to carve out some time to myself to exercise. I've been training for a marathon but after a long run I am sore for a couple of days and don't want to do anything for the next couple of days. I need to try and stay accountable and rather than flooding my facebook wall I will once again make an effort to post more here.

I am going to do the 100 Days Challenge in which the challenge is going to be at least 30 minutes of exercise per day fo... Sat, 23 Jul 2016 09:23:37 EST Starting Today This morning I hopped on the scale and discovered I gained three pounds. I know you are probably thinking, three pounds? Big deal! I was discouraged when I hopped on and seen that weight gain because I was in a team accountability challenge in which we had to weigh in every week and report our week. As a result, I had lost six pounds in seven weeks by watching what I was eating up and increasing my activity. After that challenge ended, I just kind of let things slide and now I've gained b... Wed, 30 Mar 2016 07:12:00 EST Wii Fit U - List of Games and other Features I just got my game last week so I still haven't opened up all the levels but this is a list of the games that are on there.

When you log on, you have an option of uploading your Fit Meter data or doing it later. You wear the Fit Meter during the day which counts your steps and keeps track of elevation changes. Mon, 27 Jan 2014 09:09:07 EST Personal Trainer Day One - Wii Fit U I got the Wii Fit U game last week and today was the first time I tried out the Personal Trainer section. I must say that I really love this feature as you can choose how long you want to work out for, Activity Level, and what kind of exercises you want to do. Today I chose 30 minutes, Random, at Standard level and this is what it came up with for me.

10 min Free Run
Lunges - 10
Plank - 30 sec
Ski Slalom - Advanced
Cobra
Salsa - Beginner (first time pla... Sun, 26 Jan 2014 12:45:04 EST Eat to Live, Not Live to Eat I just read a Secret of Success where the author wrote how when she was a child and playing outside, she didn't like to come inside to eat and felt like it was a chore. Here's a link to her Secret of Success

41867_eating_should_be_a_chore

She is onto something. I am an emotional eater and I find myself eating more food (and junk) when I'm alone or bored and before I know it, I've eaten a lot of calories without even... Tue, 3 Dec 2013 13:49:16 EST I'm Batgirl!!! I bought this Halloween costume last month when I was looking for a SuperHero costume to wear to a race in Michigan in November and got to use it today. Anywhere5K was holding a SuperHero weekend in which you go out and run a virtual 5k and then report back in how your time went.

My 5k was a bit slow today and I wasn't properly fuelled but I ran anyway and got a great sweaty workout. Here's Batgirl!

<... Sun, 27 Oct 2013 13:25:37 EST My Team Triumph - Canada's First Chapter and Race This past Sunday my family and I were lucky enough to participate in Canada's very first My Team Triumph race. This is a program designed for disabled people to be able to participate in running races or endurance events that they may not be able to do on their own. The ones in the chairs are called Captains and they are pushed in specialized racing chairs by runners called Angels. My son is a Captains and both my husband and I are Angels.
Here are some photos:
My son is mobile... Tue, 22 Oct 2013 20:48:47 EST My First Marathon - Chicago! I ran the Chicago Marathon last weekend and am an official finisher. We were training for it for awhile with building up our mileage but we spent the last 18 weeks seriously training for it. When my husband got home, he would get into his running gear and off we would go. I was injured for about the past two months with IT Band, hamstring issues, and also Hip Bursitis, so I couldn't do all my training runs which worried me that I wouldn't be able to finish. I started working with a chirop... Thu, 17 Oct 2013 22:38:08 EST Run For Heroes Half Marathon - Sept 22/13 Yesterday my husband and I did the World Alzheimer's Run For Heroes Half Marathon. Both of us had some injuries with my husband waking up on Saturday morning with something going on with his knee and was limping throughout the day but he woke up on Sunday morning without a limp so he got geared up and ready for the race. I am dealing with IT Band and hamstring issues but am working with a chiropractor to help me through it. I also use my foam roller and The Stick, and do strength exercises... Mon, 23 Sep 2013 08:51:25 EST What Have You Done Today? "What have you done today, to make you feel proud?" or as Mike asked me the other day, "What have you done today to prepare for the Chicago Marathon?"

I was feeling lazy to do my scheduled Hills Workout and could still hear Mike's voice asking me, but I continued to read my email and running blogs to get inspired, only because I didn't want to run up and down The Hill, four times in this yucky snow/slush stuff. Then I came upon an article about Challenging Yourself with Treadmill... Thu, 28 Feb 2013 11:15:19 EST I like my Snowshoes! :) Now that we have had more than plenty of snow (what was I asking for) and finished up all the shovelling and other outdoor work, it was time to break out the snowshoes again and play. Whew! It really is quite the workout, especially breaking track in the snow. I thought that I was in good shape, but I was breathing heavier than I do when I hike (with backpack and poles). Why didn't I buy myself a pair of snowshoes last year? I love this!

These will come in handy when I head ou... Thu, 16 Dec 2010 18:03:50 EST Funny Cat Story We have a tiger striped cat who was the runt of the litter and we used to call him "That Runty Cat" whenever we were playing with the litter of kittens. The name Runty stuck, so we took him home with us.

He likes to be an outside cat and will only want to come inside if he's scared, wet, or cold. He doesn't like to use the litter box and will hold him and meow "Out...." in that cat tone to be let outside and then he'll jump over the fence and head straight for the woods to do his... Fri, 2 Jul 2010 12:44:01 EST Beware of Turkeys! I sure screamed today. I bought some new nordic pole yesterday for hiking and took them on a trail with me today to give them a try. This trail was kind of overgrown and I was watching out for poison ivy. I had just stepped over a log and heard a funny noise just in front of me. I screamed at first and then it jumped up and off the trail. It was a huge turkey!!! It was really gobbling but then it started to run at me to chase me off. I backed up and kept backing up and it got really agressi... Wed, 26 May 2010 13:11:17 EST My Olympic Vacation I never thought I would be able to go to the Olympics but my husband is a huge fan of The Games and as soon as they announced they were going to be in Canada, he started to make plans for us to go.

We seen a Women's Hockey Game, two Men's Hockey Games, Pairs Figure Skating, and Short Track Speed Skating. We also went to the Opening Ceremonies. It was quite cool as e everyone got an audience participation kit in which was included the cardboard (very sturdy) drum which everything ...
