Mon, 3 Feb 2014 21:54:45 EST Progress This Year One of my Spark Teams asked these questions in a thread and I decided to write a blog about it so I could revisit my success. It's especially needed right now because I've been struggling this week.

What progress have you made so far this year?

253 pounds to 173 = 80 pounds lost

Previous measurements are from September 28th. I didn't measure January 1st.

Waist - 58.5 to 40 = 18.5 inches lost
Hips - 55 to 40 = 14 inches lost
Thigh - 28.5 t... Thu, 21 Nov 2013 17:06:04 EST October Self Check-Up Actually, I'm going to backup up a little to mid-September and make this a 6 week check up.

September was a stressful month at work and included traveling for a conference. Working longer hours than usual meant that I didn't feel like making dinner or packing a lunch for the next day when I got home. This lead to more eating out than usual, but I did better than I have in the past and still tried to keep my calories and portion sizes in check. Then came the 4 days of the conference... Fri, 1 Nov 2013 13:29:47 EST Ran a Whole 5K I hit my fitness goal this morning! 244

364 363
I was able to run an entire 5K. I did it in 37:02. My previous distance record was 2 miles and that was 2 months ago. I'm not sure how I pulled it off, but I did!

Now I have to think up a new fitness goal. 334 Mon, 21 Oct 2013 11:53:09 EST Ran 2 Miles Today I ran 2 miles straight today on the treadmill. I'm getting closer to being able to run an entire 5K! 244

I continue to be amazed by what my body is capable of. Wed, 21 Aug 2013 09:41:40 EST 20 Minutes I ran for 20 minutes straight today. I have no idea how. I started out intending to run 4 minute intervals.

I got to the end of the first one and still felt pretty good, so I decided to try for 5 minutes. 248

I decided to keep going until I needed to walk. I got to 10 minutes. 248

I decided to keep going until I ran a mile. 248

I decided to see if could make it to 20 minutes. By about the 17 minute mark my heart was po... Thu, 18 Jul 2013 19:10:14 EST Half a Pound I was pretty disappointed at my weigh in last Friday. .5 pound loss.

Seriously?!? I've been getting up at 5 am every morning to go to the gym for half a pound? Ugh! Logically I know that every little thing can influence the scale. (Stupid scale!) 225 At least it was a loss, right? Yeah, right. It's still frustrating. 234

But I decided not to dwell on it anymore. I'm looking at the big picture instead. If I've lost 87 pounds then I can lose the la... Wed, 10 Jul 2013 01:41:33 EST I Made it to One-derland I finally made it to one-derland! And it feels wonderful!

I haven't been below 200 since high school. I don't even know how long ago I crossed the 200 pound mark, I never weighed myself unless absolutely necessary. But I KNOW I'm never going to see it again!

I had to take a picture. LOL

I'm so grateful to SparkPeople! I don't think I would have had this much success without the site. Th... Fri, 7 Jun 2013 06:50:50 EST My First 5K I did the Color Vibe 5K this morning. It was so much fun! I did run a little of it. It wasn't a timed race, so I don't have an exact completion time, but we finished in about 40 minutes.

Here we are pre-race. I'm on the right. I'm waiting for post-race pictures from my friend. We were much more colorful at the end. LOL

Sat, 1 Jun 2013 21:32:31 EST So Excited I just picked up my registration packet for the Color Vibe 5K tomorrow. I'm so excited! Fri, 31 May 2013 13:19:43 EST Running Progress Just some notes so I can remember what I did. LOL

Last Saturday I ran 5 two minute intervals for 10 minutes total. I can't remember how long I was on the treadmill exactly, around 30 minutes. I meant to run again at least one other day during the week, but I was tired and sore, so I didn't.

Today I decided to try shorter intervals for a longer duration.

I walk/ran for 60 minutes total - 3.8 miles.
3:30 walk at 3.3 mph then 1:30 run at 5 mph- total of 18 ... Sat, 18 May 2013 13:49:59 EST Woo Hoo! The scale shocked me this morning, in a good way. Down 5.5 pounds since last Friday. Wow. I couldn't believe it. I had to weigh myself 3 times. I even moved the scale and it still read the same.

Hopefully, I wasn't just dehydrated and it's real progress. I guess I'll find out next week, but until next weigh in, I'm floating on cloud 9!

I'm getting so close to one-derland. I don't even know the last time I was under 200 pounds, probably not since high school. Fri, 17 May 2013 12:42:02 EST I ran today! I told myself that today was the day I was going to try running and I did. I ran 5 one-minute intervals. I never thought I'd be able to run or that I would have a desire to. I continue to be amazed at what my body can do.

Also a little amazed I didn't fall off the treadmill and embarrass myself. 20 Sat, 27 Apr 2013 14:09:11 EST Splurged on a Fitbit I've been wanting one for a while, so I finally bought a Fitbit. Today will be my first full day wearing it. So far it seems pretty cool! I think it will definitely inspire me to move more. Fri, 26 Apr 2013 06:13:34 EST Signed up for a 5K I just signed up for a my first (hopefully) 5K. I'm kind of excited and kind of nervous. It's June 1st, so I have a month and half to get ready. Wed, 17 Apr 2013 11:10:39 EST I Hit a Goal and Didn't Realize It When I weighed in this morning, I found out I lost 3.5 pounds this week! That's a great weigh in for me. I was so excited! I didn't realize until a couple of hours later when I was driving home from the gym that that puts me at 60 pounds lost so far. Yay me! Fri, 5 Apr 2013 16:58:21 EST I'm Not Quitting This Time I saw this on another member's blog. I decided to sign too, because I don't want to give up on myself this time.

Today, I promise I will not quit.

I pledge that no matter, how many ups and downs I pass through, I will continue on my journey.

I pledge to make a NEW START today, and forgive myself for my past, and to stop being so critical of myself.

I pledge to take control of myself, to stop making excuses, and stop blaming other p...
