It wasn't the most organized race, but it was for a good cause. The cause was in support of rescue greyhound dogs. They told us at the start that they didn't get the medals in time, and they had to use left over medals from 2 years ago.. but if we wanted the proper ones we would have to put our names down for new ones.. Hills are so much fun This was my 6th half of the year, and my 14th half in total. The race we picked was 2 hours out of the city, and it's called "run for the hills" it's a Very, VERY hilly course!!! <BR> <BR> I started the preparation the day before made pancakes for breakfast for the family, and made extra for hubby and I to have pre-race for breakfast. With the cost of daycare it was a very easy choice to stay at home with my boys once my 1 year of mat leave ended.... and since Ethan and Julian were born, we were blessed to have two more children. Only in Running!! I have never gone to the grocery store and wave to everyone in the aisle, or go to the mall and nod at every single person that I walk by, why only in running?!! <BR> Wed, 25 Jul 2012 13:00:04 EST Another half, a great Father's day I was hoping for a personal best today... but it wasn't my day. I was feeling awesome, I was running hard.... It was so great running with my husband by my side, he was trying to help me get my pb.. and did a great job... mile 8 I hit the wall.. Mile 9 was a struggle... but by mile 10 I knew my parents and 4 kids would be cheering us on, I could here them chant go mom and dad go!!! It wasn't looking too nice out this morning, cloudy, drizzling, windy cool temp, and to add more fun to the mix TOM came for a visit (girl issues) Just as the race began it started to pour... the wind was terrible!! My husband and I travelled to a marathon destination just over 4 hours from home... we had to take our 4 kids and my parents to watch our kids in order for my hubby and I to race. My husband battled a cold 4 two weeks, and didn't feel great, his ankle started hurting him the night before and I was feeling off this morning, not feeling to great, so I sucked it up because I wanted to support my husband. Today i got into my zone... I felt light headed, but I listened to my music and looked fo... Sat, 19 May 2012 22:13:37 EST really? me finish under 2 hours??? no way!!!!!! I never in my wildest dreams thought me, would ever finish a 2 hour HALF marathon, never mind UNDER 2 hours, after all I am not a fast runner. I still had a best time of 2:08 which I was happy with that time, but my husband and I trained hard, he's a great motivator and helped me along the way!! We had a great run... We ran hard.... at mile 11 my hubby went ahead, and I was running at a comfortable pace for me... it was nice to see him at the finish line! He finished at 1:55 and I came in... Sun, 6 May 2012 14:11:03 EST it's weigh in time??!! Always the anticipation, did the scale move? will I have lost weight? Will I be the same?? I am trying to make sure I eat enough, I still don't really know where I should be at for calories with my workout training, but with running 5x a week, and I did really well with eating, but I had 1 day of going over my calorie intake... I still lost 2 lbs!!! Getting closer to meeting my goal!! Sun, 11 Mar 2012 07:30:33 EST trying hard not to be disappointed I had a great week of running, 4km on Monday, 6km on Tuesday and wed, 4km on Thursday and 14 km on Saturday!!! It was through heavy and thick snow too, weather that most people would say #$&%@ that, I am not going outside, or if people saw me running out there, they'd think I was crazy!! I'm training for a marathon, so there are no excuses, weather, tired, nothing is going to stop me!! BUT... I went on the scale today.... no gain.. yay! BUT no loss either boo!! Just finished a 10km run with my favorite running partner... my husband, I always look forward to our weekly running date. Not only do we get to spend sometime alone time together, not always easy with 4 kids! But we are doing something healthy, sharing our passion and accomplishing our goal of training for our upcoming marathon! Life is great! Sat, 18 Feb 2012 10:16:34 EST what a great week! I had a great week of tracking food.... ran a few times, plus did a spin class first time ever!! I really didn't want to run today, but did anyway, wasn't happy with my time but my husband was very encouraging, I'm so lucky!!! Tomorrow I do look forward to our 10km running date!! We are lucky to have such supportive parents to help babysit so we can do our longer runs together!!! I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to not only run with my husband but try out something new and do a spin class, he goes all the time, but today my parents offered to babysit... so we got two dates in and the class was amazing! It's so nice to be able to run together, it wasn't too cold out, which is another added bonus! Our next date... saturday morning for a 10km run!! It's not always easy to find the time and energy getting my runs in, with having 4 kids, but I am so fortunate to have a wonderful husband who is supportive, and training with me... we take turns getting our runs in, and have amazing parents who babysit for us so that we can run 2x a week together!!
