In fact, at my old job I used to eat bagels every day. I 212 love bagels so much.
When I returned to spark people after a long hiatus, I was inputting my daily food intake and was SHOCKED to discover that bagels can be as much as 450 calories. Many people tell me they cannot eat a whole bagel. Well I cannot NOT eat a whole bagel.

My solution: mini bagels. I found some at the ne... Mon, 2 Apr 2012 09:55:24 EST salad, fruit, salad, fruit, salad, and yes, fruit http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4783917 I met a young lady at my church who told me she lost 26 lbs. I don't need to lose that much weight. But I decided to try her radical formula. Now, she has a registered dietician on her side so I am not going as hard as she is. But I'm giving it a shot.
MWF you eat salad and fruit as much as you can stand. You may have water 1.5 hours before or after you eat.
TR you eat grains, nuts, and protein in general but not meat or fish

After doing some research I realize that exerc... Mon, 12 Mar 2012 14:43:50 EST PCOS & walking to work http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3554286 I just found out from my doctor that I have PCOS. I'm not really frightened by this because I had long suspected that I had this condition. Let's just say 2,000 dollars of laser treatments, an ever expanding waistline, and seriously irregular periods had clued me in that something was different from what I expected.

Well, because of the constant exposure to hormones that do not fluctuate as they should, a person could be at risk for problems. For that reason my doctor suggested bir... Thu, 19 Aug 2010 15:44:12 EST It's working. . . http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3198462 It's hard but sticking to a diet and logging it is a good thing. I'm not hungry. I am noticing that what is happening is I just want to eat. So I look at the website and see how much of the thing I want will contribute the right nutrients to my overall goal. For example, no need to eat the full serving size of fudge striped cookies. It'll be too much fat, too many calories. But just one can satisfy that sweet craving.
I also noticed that I'm not getting nearly enough calcium. . .but one ... Wed, 5 May 2010 16:58:23 EST balance http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3191584 in order to have a healthy balance and be satisfied (if not happy), I realize I have to do things in moderation. . . things that make me happy, keep me healthy, and stimulate my mind.
I went to the gym this evening and had a moderate workout. That was perfect. I'm not too tired but I definitely feel as if my time was well spent. Mon, 3 May 2010 23:10:22 EST Back at the gym http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2714799 205
Yay!
I hit the gym 3 times this week. Yes, it was crowded with a lot of January people in there. But you know what, I ain't mad at them. I hope they will stick with it. I should get a spark t-shirt to work out in so I can spread the spark! 252

My work out this AM was decent. The elliptical machine is amazing. I can burn 2x as many calories going at the same pace as on the treadmill.

Last night I surprised myself by having a healthy, mod... Fri, 8 Jan 2010 12:22:15 EST snowed in http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2648548 This weekend in NYC we had lots and lost of snow. It cramped my style in the worst way. I was hoping to sneak in a romantic getaway with my hubby. We wanted to drive to a restaurant in New Jersey and then spend the night in a hotel nearby and return the following day. We spend lots of time together but I wanted to do something different and special.

Well, we still got a chance to do something different but it was in the form of shoveling pounds and pounds of snow. The snow ploughs ... Mon, 21 Dec 2009 17:00:00 EST okay, that hurt http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2619062 Last night I felt like heading to the gym so instead of fighting the feeling I got into the car with my husband and off we went!
I ran into 2 people I knew in the gym. That was nice. I felt like I belonged there. The gym was crowded but there were enough machines for everyone.

Everything was going just fine. Ipod playing, water and towel in place, even got a machine right next to hubby. Then disaster struck. Well, it wasn't that bad but my calves and feet started to hurt like ... Tue, 8 Dec 2009 10:25:47 EST feelin' good http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2609562 I went to the gym 2 days in a row and I feel good. I had forgotten how much it helped me to try to exercise regularly. I wish I had developed this habit in my twenties. Ouch, that hurt. My twenties just flew right by me. I turned thirty in October and while I'm happy to be alive, I'm scared not to fully enjoy my life.
Having a healthy body is part of it.
So I'll be at the gym if you need me. Fri, 4 Dec 2009 10:15:30 EST guess who's bizzack! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2550955 Yeah, I totally neglected sparkpeople for the two months since the wedding. Even though I haven't actually gained weight, I'm not as slim and toned as I was before. I really need to
1. get back in the gym
2. start tracking my food again (which I began today)
3. eat more healthy
4. resist temptation in the form of other people who think nothing of encouraging me to join them for some kind of cake. . . Tue, 10 Nov 2009 17:04:24 EST yeaouch http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2253306 I'm in so much pain right now. I don't like strength training but I"m expected to do it twice a week!!!

Well I had courage and for the second week I've done my strength training 1 time per week. The things that I do--I do them in the studio at the gym, not amongst all those machines. I do simple things like backward crunches with stability ball, walking lunges, stuff like that. I could even do these at home with a few dumb bells and a stability ball.

But I think what go... Thu, 23 Jul 2009 12:44:19 EST phew http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2242074 I've reached a goal that was almost out of sight. All my attendants have their dresses. It was tough at first because I didn't actually have enough attendants but friend of the family came through for me and will be the matron of honor. She will stand alongside the maid of honor--a good friend of the groom's.

Sigh.
Now I just have to hold myself back from going overboard on this. It's easy to make the wedding the only important thing in my life. But there's life after. I can... Sun, 19 Jul 2009 19:53:42 EST Alterations anyway http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2237258 I went to a different branch of my gym this morning and I'm SO glad I did. I was a little nervous at first--actually I was nervous the whole time but I'm glad I went outside my comfort zone. The showers were sooooo clean and bright and new. There were a LOT of machines and the locker room was a little bit communal but I was okay with that. Overall I got a decent workout and enjoyed being there with my coworker who lives in the area. Unfortunately, though, I think I damaged my ipod 46</em... Fri, 17 Jul 2009 15:23:57 EST Women's Health Workout http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2228585 This morning I changed my routine and instead of walking or runing on the treadmill I decided to do some strength training. It was amazing. I did a workout that I got out of a magazine called Women's Health. They were not at all like what I remember from gym class in high school or even college. I used the medicine ball, and two 4 pound weights. I did things like a walking lunge with weights, and some kind of cross body chop with the kettle ball.

When I did the plank pose, I was h... Tue, 14 Jul 2009 14:51:17 EST slipping and sliding http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2218074 I have to really refocus my efforts. I haven't been staying on target with my eating. Part of the reason is poor scheduling.

I spend long evenings with my fiance and don't spend enough time at home cleaning, cooking, or prepping for the next day.

I'll definitely invite him over on the weekend. That way I can get more done and he can get out of the house. Fri, 10 Jul 2009 11:33:38 EST Walk it out http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2215336 It's that time of the month and at that time of the month I don't really like to go to the gym. When I workout at the gym I like to go hard, hit the showers, and then head out to work. So who wants to be in the showers at that time of the month? It just doesn't work that way. Hence, I've decided to try to get my exercise in by walking.

The past week or so, I've been walking early in the morning. I walk for about half an hour and unbelievably, I'm getting my cardio in! In fact, my ... Thu, 9 Jul 2009 12:02:33 EST Get Creative! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2200804 Hey now, getting creative can make your weight loss/get fit efforts more interesting. It's like a vicious cycle. The more creative you get, the more fun you have, the more success you enjoy.

Today a friend sent me a link to KERF--I think it's Kathy Eats Real Food. She's real creative about what she eats. I checked it out and immediately felt inspired to have a peanut butter sandwich with cranberries. If you like your peanut butter crunchy, you'll like that.
Toast 1 slice of w... Fri, 3 Jul 2009 16:40:24 EST How you like me now? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2198666 Today I'm doing a lot better than yesterday. By
1. bringing my lunch
2. bringing healthy snacks
3. starting my water early in the morning

I have felt
1. less hungry
2. satisfied
3. not nauseous at all (that burger was killer yesterday)

I'm hoping to wrap the evening up with something simple and clean.
Check out my water! I got sprigs of mint from the backyard and put them in a water bottle. Then when I poured out a cup I said, what the ... Thu, 2 Jul 2009 17:04:28 EST Slip up http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2196537 Today I slipped up. A coworker of mine brought along some sweets someone had brought into her office. She brought me two pieces. They were small but full of sugar. Still they were quite tasty. I decided to spend some time walking this evening to combat the effects of the sweets I ate.

I took a 20 minute walk with my fiance and we actually broke a sweat. In the end I think we may have burned perhaps 100 calories. Maybe I can walk tomorrow again before work or during lunchtime. <BR... Wed, 1 Jul 2009 21:42:58 EST Jun 29-closer and closer http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2189158 After several months of eating with wild abandon and very little time spent working out, I went to fit my wedding dress and found I had gained a lot of weight. Oh dear. The seamstress told me that I ought to try to lose at least five pounds and made an appointment for 1 month later. My appointment will be on July 16th and I think I'm well on my way to my goal.
I've started trying to exercise at least 3 times a week. I have not yet started doing strength training though.
I bought 3 w... Mon, 29 Jun 2009 11:14:45 EST
