Yesterday is gone and I can't take back any of the bad decisions that I made to put my weight back on. But I can change my present. The present is a present, cliche but true. So my thinking out loud is really just planning. And if you have any tips on the plans that I am sharing feel free to leave a comment or spark mail.

411 I think giving myself six week challenges where I make a change, big or sm... Wed, 28 Dec 2016 18:12:56 EST Walk Like Olivia Pope http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5819258 Today I went for a walk but left my phone in the house. So I had no music to listen to. I tend to stroll rather than walk and with no music it's hard to put a little pep in my step. But I pushed myself to pick up the pace, Chin up, shoulders back and arms swinging from side to side and my hips couldn't help but follow. I laughed to myself thinking "I feel like Olivia Pope" minus the awesome coat. So here is the formula to putting a little pep in your step.

1. Wear lace unde... Wed, 19 Nov 2014 01:43:02 EST Looking in the Mirror http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5801534 I looked in the mirror yesterday and I saw the old me, very over weight. I asked myself, "How did you get back here?" As I walked back to my seat and finished my high calorie meal. I thought about the meals that I ate within just a week and there is no wonder how I got back here. simply put, I lost my way. After losing my job I went back to many of my old habits and every day is met with the thought that tomorrow I am going to start doing right. Yes I walk everyday but that is a necessit... Fri, 6 Sep 2013 13:43:00 EST Week 6 of 6!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5406680 I have completed my 6 week challenge. I focused on nutrition, fitness and my professional development.

341 Nutrition
I am now more than ever convinced that you can eat healthy on a budget. No, I can't get the organic or even the leanest cuts of meats but I can make good choices within the budget constraints that I have. I may have to buy chicken thighs instead of breast or ground turkey that is not the leanest, but it beats a fast food burger any day. Oh and t... Sun, 30 Jun 2013 20:26:23 EST Week 5 or 6 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5402757 This blog is coming a little late in the week but I am happy to report that I have made a lot of progress on this 6 week challenge.

341 Nutrition
I got almost everything I needed when I went to the market this time. Although my son is 21 years old, it is still a good idea to leave him at home when I go to the store(or find a baby sitter, LOL) somehow when I get to the counter there are few things that end up in the cart that I had not anticipated.

<e... If I opt for a healthy breakfast I can't not bring myself to make a bad choice for lunch. I simply remind myself of what I did for breakfast and not blow a good choice. This is different from the past when I would have "rewarded" myself with a not so healthy choice.

231 Fitness
I learned the same lesson as far as fitness goes. This week I learned a new surprise. Check the packaging, it may have a good recipe for something you;re already buying. On the back of a can of pinto beans was a recipe for pepper crusted salmon. I had all of the ingredients on hand and the dish turned out to be one of the best new recipes that I have made in a long time. I also realized that if a recipe has more than 5 ... Well, I must admit that I am about 1 pile away from going down that path. I have certain dispositions that lean that way. Every so often I say to myself, I am going to get organized once and for all! I even bought a few books about organizing, which unfortunately became part of the clutter. On those times when I am motivated to really “get serious” I get an adrenaline rush and like a mad woman start cle... Mon, 28 Jan 2013 11:45:58 EST Excited About Soup http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5193628 Last month I was at the supermarket, I had about 8 bucks. I saw some soup starters in the produce section for 69 cents. They were trying to get rid of ithe items I know, but for less than a buck, worth a try. I used to think I wasn't a soup person. Turns out I'm not a can soup person. I love my new find! Great and inexpensive way to get my veggies on. This is my first time in a long while feeling excited about healthy options. Sun, 6 Jan 2013 18:53:27 EST I'm Baaaack! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5090430 I am back in 190ville folks. In fact I've been here for a little while now hiding in the corner. I know about 8 or 9 months ago I packed my bags and said good bye, I even threw myself a party. But after loosing my job I found myself at the buffet and cookie line again and running backwards. I even seemed to have lost sight of the gym. To those of you who are happy to find yourselves here I do not judge you. In fact I wish you well on journey. But as for me I am humbled by this experie... Thanks for leaving the light on. Although I have to tell you I've been circling the block for months. Stopping at a few not so healthy restaurants, and a few holiday hangovers may have slowed this trip down at times but it didn't derail me or make me turn around. Yeah, I know my friends in 190ville will miss me but they wished me well and bid a farewell. I am so excited to be here although I am pretty sure there are a few of you that may be on y... Thu, 12 Jan 2012 14:47:55 EST Am I crazy? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4524099 I'm feeling pretty up and down these days. I'm quite sure I've worn out my welcome by now. Been here for 9 months. That's enough time to have a baby. Sure the people here are nice but I want to meet the good folk over in 180ville. The meal came with a trip to the salad and fruit bar. As I got my salad with the spinach and not the iceberg, I reminisced on how I used to love the buffet and always wanted my moneys worth. I thought that I was making a healthy choice by starting with the salad and ending with the fruit. Although what I wa... Fri, 16 Sep 2011 23:29:18 EST An AHA Moment! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4488782 This week was an eye opener. I am not as in control of the kitchen since I have no kitchen when I'm traveling. On Wednesday I went way over my calorie count because I had a high calorie breakfast (nearly a thousand for one simple meal). The next day I had a lighter breakfast but was not quite satisfied. I decided not to continue eating but to wait 20 minutes for my brain to get the message (or is it my stomach gets the message) that I am in fact not hungry ( I read about that somewhere)... In the scene the three women were conversing over cake (red velvet cake) I stared at the cake, it looked like the perfect size. I kept watching as the women talked but did not pick up the fork to slice into what looked like heaven. But no such luck. I was confident that this would be fairly easy for me because I have gained so many good habits in the past year, but sadly it was not easy to stick with as most diets generally are not all that easy to stick with. Truthly speaking I don't usually fancy diets but this one seemed sensible enough. The 1st 17 days is generally lean meat, vegetables and yogurt... I had a caramel mochiato and a huge coffee cake for breakfast and this evening I went to a spin class and pushed through the full hour. Fri, 28 Jan 2011 23:04:33 EST Chain a Fool http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3964516 Hi Friends,
I recently read a note from Coach Jen encouraging members not to send "chain' like messages as it can quickly get out of hand.

I must say that I normally hate chain mails or those stupid text messages forwarded to my phone. I ask people not to send them. I have even gone so far as to find out how to block someone from contacting me because of it. But this time I myself got caught up in the chain and posted the "Beautiful Woman Award" message to several people.... Wed, 26 Jan 2011 23:05:05 EST Who Cares About the Numbers http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3912775 Who cares about the numbers? ME, THAT'S WHO! Since I've joined SPark and started tracking my meals I've only looked at calories and occasionally fat. But yesterday I looked at the other numbers like protein and fiber. I noticed that I had not had enough fiber and only half of the protein that I needed. And then thought to myself. “Duh, How many vegetables did you eat today.” and another thought “Now what I gotta do to get my protein up” (As you can tell my inner dialog doesn’t care about ... Tue, 11 Jan 2011 05:15:47 EST The Best Course of Action http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3904624 I gained about 7 pounds after the holiday. I was so close to being under 200 pounds I could taste it. I feel like I sabotaged myself and can't figure out why. I immediately started thinking about how to quickly take off the extra weight so that I could still reach my birthday goal of 185lbs. I told myself ok, no bread, no sugar, no soda, no beef, no cheese, no this, no that, no, no, no. I feel like a toddler trying to grab things off a shelf or worse touch an outlet. But then I remembere... Sun, 2 Jan 2011 01:03:21 EST Don't Let Him In! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3854019 For nearly a week I've been thinking about my new years resolution and how to make them goals. I know that I need to write them down and they need to be specific. I'm not feeling well today and decided to stay home. I thought I would blog about my goals. But pessimism started to seep in. I thought about my meeting my weight goal by my birthday and making a new one but Mr. Pessimistic said "Do you really want to go to the gym that much". I thought about my goal of reflecting and writing ... Mon, 20 Dec 2010 13:09:01 EST I Have to Laugh at Myself Sometimes http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3839898 I just won another Spark trophy. I have been so excited about this trophy for nearly a week. I have been doing everything I could to rack up points. I wore my pedometer most days. I participated fully in the 180 cardio minutes challenge. If I missed a day I made up for it the next day. I logged my food, logged my fitness and read many articles some twice(no extra points). This morning I saw that I had 20 points to go and I started to dance. I really wanted to EARN my trophy. I even b... Sun, 12 Dec 2010 17:57:43 EST
