I started to type weight loss, but I really didn't focus on that until a few weeks ago. It has been more about focusing on single habits, getting those under control, maintaining them, and moving on to the next trouble area.

Looking back over the past six months, I know I have accomplished a lot. I went from forcing myself to drink 5 or 6 cups a water a day, to easily drinking... The videos kicked my behind, but I did them anyway and finished one day early 244 Now to carry forward the ST and toning from here on out. Protein intake *drum r... Tue, 26 Jun 2012 02:51:35 EST 5% Summer Challenge Assignment http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4921018 I want to get and stay healthy. For me that means losing weight, and building strength/endurance.

I want to change how I approach food, and stop eating out of boredom etc. I have allowed myself to get off track with healthy meals, and have turned into a grazer. I want to change that trend. I have been weaning myself off of diet soda, and am hopeful that will help with my weird cravings. Today was the first day with no diet soda, took drinking 16 glasses of water though!
... Mon, 11 Jun 2012 03:24:25 EST Week 23 in Review Jun 3-9 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4921011 Exercise is becoming much more consistent! I am in a routine and that helps to ensure I get in my required fitness minutes. I have been contemplating checking out a new gym. It isn't that I don't enjoy Curves anymore, I just feel like I am not progressing like I was. I miss swimming, but dislike the long drive into town to go to the city pool. Plus, that pool is outdoors and even though heated not much fun in the winter. There are two gyms in town with indoor pools, about half the driv... Mon, 11 Jun 2012 02:40:22 EST Week 22 in Review May 27-June 2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4912579 I am feeling much stronger this week. I missed my goal for total calories burned via cardio by a few hundred points, but managed to get in 85,473 steps for the week! That is approximately 12,210 steps per day. That is more than double last year's daily goal. I am moving so much more on a daily basis, not just exercising, but extra steps by parking way out at the store etc. It is a NSV, and I am celebrating it!

The scale and I have been at odds this past month. I gain a poun... Tue, 5 Jun 2012 02:07:44 EST Week 21 in Review May 20-26 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4900672 This past week did not go exactly as planned. I had set up a schedule to get all the Spring into Shape Bootcamp videos done by Saturday and maintain my current cardio workouts. All was good until I got home on Tuesday evening from work. I couldn't get out of the car. Luckily my hubby was just leaving the house to take our dog for her walk. He helped me into the house and I proceeded to spend the next 36 hours either in bed or on the couch with the heating pad close by. I even missed my... Mon, 28 May 2012 02:37:06 EST Weeks 18, 19 and 20 in Review http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4889269 Wow time flies when life gets hectic. It has been a very busy three weeks, with a few bumps in the road. Overall, I am happy with my results. I am drinking a ton of water every day, and have had just one diet soda a day in the past few weeks. This week I will go to one every other day, and then...good bye soda. I still think about grabbing one throughout the day, but since I have none in the house it is a drive and extra expense to go get one. So far it has worked. I hope that contin... Sun, 20 May 2012 01:59:42 EST Quick trip this weekend http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4865698 My hubby and I are making a quick trip up north this weekend, family obligation. I won't have much time or any real access too internet, so I won't be able to post any numbers for the 5% Challenge until we get back on Monday.

My daughter and her family are going to come stay with my Dad while we are gone. I just don't feel right leaving him alone for three days completely on his own. It is hard enough on him when I am gone to work the one day a week. Luckily, my daughter is off... Fri, 4 May 2012 02:21:38 EST Week 17 in Review Apr 22-28 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4858562 This week has been another week of contradictions. I burned over 3500 calories in cardio alone, ate in my calorie range daily (a few close to the top but in range) and I gained weight again. I am not stressing over it, just commenting on it. Yesterday was the 6th weigh in for the 5% Spring Challenge, I was up another .6 pounds putting me at a grand total loss of .6 pounds for the 6 weeks. This morning, I was a pound lighter than that. I am trying to eat at the lower end of my range this ... Mon, 30 Apr 2012 02:36:27 EST Week 15 and 16 in Review Apr 8 - Apr 21 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4846109 Is it possible I am developing a healthier lifestyle? Food choices, better but still too much snacking and too much of the wrong foods. Not bad foods, there aren't any of those, but too much chocolate and chips finding there way into my mouth on a daily basis. I used to be better about the snacking. I have been very conscious of it this week in particular, and have side tracked myself a couple of times with the fresh fruit I left in a bowl on the counter for that reason. I am now out of ... Sun, 22 Apr 2012 03:48:37 EST Week 13 and 14 in Review Mar 25-Apr 7 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4826382 The last two weeks have flown by. I have not been getting onto the site until late every night. Nothing really going on but life. Yesterday was my last day of the VITA project I have been volunteering with, so my Saturday's are my own again 244 We got done early yesterday, so after I got home I went out for a walk. I told my hubby that I was going to attempt some intervals, so for him to stay close to the phone in case I needed him to come rescue me from myself. I have attem... Mon, 9 Apr 2012 01:57:23 EST Week's 11 and 12 in Review Mar 11-24 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4803514 Spring 5% Challenge started, and we just completed the first week...yeah! I don't usually exercise on Saturday's, but between wanting to get in my 12 miles walking this week, and posting some air miles for the Awesome A Team, I did 30 minutes on the Elliptical tonight, stretched, and took the dog for a walk. I never count the dog walks as exercise, because she has to stop and sniff the air, the grass, the sidewalk, you get the picture....snails move quicker! It is additional steps for me ... Sun, 25 Mar 2012 04:03:42 EST Week 10 Mar 4-10 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4784892 All in all a pretty successful week. The scale didn't cooperate, but I know I ate some things I am allergic too, and that does a number on my weight. I showed a gain of three pounds the day I ate below 1500 calories, so will be extra careful this week about the hidden gluten.

Goals:
1) Average 10 glasses of water daily
2) 5 cardio sessions per week (split between Curves and walking)
3) Walk 12 miles per week
4) Average 10,000 steps daily
5) Track all... Tue, 13 Mar 2012 02:45:10 EST Week's 8 and 9 Feb 19-Mar 3 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4772995 So here I am again late on Monday evening writing my accountability blog. This blog is for the past two weeks. I haven't been able to get onto Spark until late every night, and by the time I get everything else done it has been too late to write the blog.

Week 8 was a struggle. Week 9 slightly better. There are two things I noticed this past week: 1) even on my sluggish days I am getting in almost double the steps I used to get on my down days. Wearing the pedometer has hel... Tue, 6 Mar 2012 01:30:42 EST Week 7 Feb. 12-18 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4755971 Wow can't believe it has taken me almost a week to get this blog written. It has been a super busy couple of weeks, and not likely to die down any time soon. I am trying to be diligent to the planning process, it really does make a difference to the outcome.

Here are the numbers:

Goals:
1) Average 10 glasses of water daily
2) 5 cardio sessions per week (split between Curves and walking)
3) Walk 12 miles per week
4) Average 10,000 steps daily <... Sat, 25 Feb 2012 02:07:58 EST Week 6 in Review Feb 5-11 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4737814 I feel pretty positive overall about this past week. I didn't hit all my goals, but did hit some I have been struggling with. I finally exceeded 12 cardio miles this week! Before the knee issues, I was walking minimum 12 miles on a bad week, and 15 or more on a good week. I was also getting the walks in three days compared to 4 or 5 now, but I set the goal to walk 12 miles a week, and I did that. As the knee gets stronger I will increase mileage per day, and cut back to three days per w... Tue, 14 Feb 2012 01:13:29 EST Week 5 in Review Jan 29-Feb 4 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4724463 I started the week out with a much more “in the present” kind of mind-frame, it helped. I did much better with my goals this week, not perfect but better. I am taking it as a win. I have also identified a real issue for me, snacking. I did not notice it so much during the summer because there was a lot more fresh fruit in the house to grab. Needless to say, more fruit will be on the next shopping list!

I tried some different options for meals this week for me. They were basi... Mon, 6 Feb 2012 01:59:35 EST Week 4 in review Jan 22-28 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4711445 There were some days this past week that I really wondered why I was still on Spark People every day. I wasn't even going through the motions of a healthy lifestyle. By mid-week, I had mostly regrouped and, by Friday I was feeling better about my choices. So for accountability sake I am posting it all, the good, bad, and just plain ugly.

I have committed to myself to start the next 5% challenge, and today I completed my first HIIT training session in 6 months! I am a little ... Mon, 30 Jan 2012 01:59:53 EST Week 3 in Review Jan. 15-21 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4698017 I am glad this week is over. Even though today, Sunday, was even worse than other days this past week (goal wise) I am moving on. I didn't follow my plan for the week, other than walking regiment, and I can tell. I need a routine. I need to follow my plan. Plan out meals, shop accordingly, loose the chocolate snacks. Drink at least 3 glasses of water before grabbing a diet soda. I have to go back to scheduling my workouts. By the time night rolls around, I am too tired, sore ...inse... Mon, 23 Jan 2012 00:41:10 EST Week Two Review Jan 8-14 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4683402 This week didn't go exactly as planned. I did not start strength training again. Although the doctor has agreed to wait on surgery, I am still having issues with my knee. I had to ice it down a few times after Curves this week, and am not able to support my weight on it when I get down on the ground. I should have started some upper body, but found other things to do instead. None of it productive. 2

Here are this week's results:

Goals:
1) Average ... Mon, 16 Jan 2012 01:19:34 EST Week One Review Jan.1-Jan.7 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4667712 I have been using SparkPeople since March of 2010. I have been within striking distance of my goal weight now for longer than I can remember. I realized a few weeks ago, that I was just going through the motions and had lost my dedication to reaching my goals. So, I will be posting my progress here weekly. I need to hold myself accountable, and this is how I can do it. Here's to a successful 2012!

Goals:
1) Average 10 glasses of water daily
2) 5 cardio sessions per ... Mon, 9 Jan 2012 02:25:48 EST Feeling back on track, and good news too! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4663318 Pretty good day all the way around. Stayed within calorie range, and hit most of the nutrients that I track. Finishing my 9th glass of water as I type this, and have my lunch packed for tomorrow.
194 248
I am taking a class that meets for the next three Saturdays from 8 am to 5 pm. The syllabus shows an hour lunch, so am taking my walking shoes to get in a good walk too. I'll need the break, and walking clears my head.

4 311 ... Sat, 7 Jan 2012 03:01:14 EST Changes for Success http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4537623 One of my Spark friend's, CAMELA55, has had a series of blogs running "10 Habits for Success." In one of them she challenged us to come up with our own list of changes we could make, or have recently made to help us be successful. She put a ton of thought and mathematical skills to use in hers, mine is much less precise, but here goes.

First let me start my list by saying I struggle to get in my daily protein requirements. This has been an issue for me since my calorie range was... Sun, 16 Oct 2011 02:56:53 EST Side-lined for at least 7 days http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4396761 This blog is partly a whine (sorry) and partly to inform my Summer 5% Challenge team I won't be contributing too fitness minutes for at least the next 7 days. I got side-lined by a stupid injury.

I twisted my knee last Friday and had been trying to push through the pain this last week. I was wearing flip-flops (which of course the PA asked me how many times I was told not to wear them... she felt that was helpful why?) and turned my knee when I got caught on an electrical cord in... Sat, 30 Jul 2011 23:22:51 EST Food on the Brain http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4048501 I reset my weight goal last week, before I started the newest 5% Challenge, and it upped my calories everyday. My plan was to stay in the low to mid-range just in case I didn't get in the correct amount of fitness minutes. I don't know if I was playing a mental game with myself, or the thought of being "allowed" extra calories, I have been close to the top 4 of the 7 days...yikes!

Today I did better. I started with my morning banana berry smoothie. A breakfast that I used to ... Sat, 26 Feb 2011 00:44:30 EST WooHoo Personal Best on the Elliptical!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4045963 I was not really in the mood to exercise tonight. I decided I would just do day 3 and 4 of the Bootcamp videos, thinking I would skip cardio tonight. Once I finished those I was feeling pretty good, so thought I would ride the elliptical for 15 or 20 minutes. I did two miles in 24 minutes! I know that isn't much to people who run, but it is a new personal best for me. I finished 2.5 miles in 30 minutes. Two personal bests... 12 minute miles and 2.5 miles is the most I have done in 30 mi... Fri, 25 Feb 2011 00:59:46 EST Today's choices http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4034019 My daughter, two granddaughters, and I went to Santa Barbara for lunch and shopping today. It was slightly cool but the sun was shining so I enjoyed the walk downtown. I hadn't scoped out lunch before we left, partly because I ate breakfast just before I left the house and wasn't thinking about lunch choices.

We decided on California Pizza Kitchen on the drive down. I really do love that the restaurants here put the calorie info on their menus! So for lunch I choose Asparagus ... Mon, 21 Feb 2011 00:27:08 EST 5% Challenge Goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4031395 Today began the newest 5% Challenge that I am participating in. I also started another 28 Day Bootcamp this past week. I found last challenge (which was my first) that the combination of the two challenges helped me focus on the exercise portion. I am hopeful it has the same effect this time around!

My 5% weight loss goal is 7.88 pounds. I am rounding up to 8 pounds for my expected loss. To do this successfully I will:

1) Stay in the low to mid-range of my calories... Sat, 19 Feb 2011 23:28:23 EST It's official! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3993832 I met (what I originally thought) was my weight loss goal today! I have known for a couple of months that I was going to have to adjust it down, but didn't want to do that before I knew I could actually loose the original 50 pounds. It has taken me 10 and a half months on SparkPeople to loose this 50 pounds, and another year on my own to loose an additional 20 pounds. 70 pounds gone forever!!!

I had my bone density test done a few months ago, and I am an inch shorter than I used... Up too this point, I had been following the Nutrition Tracker as displayed as closely as I could every day. Just a few changes here and there mostly based on things I can't eat due to allergies. Also skipped tofu and a few other things I just can't get into at this point.

Last Friday I went through the Nutrition Tracker for this week, day by day, and made changes every day trying to set up the whole week changing out meals for others on the tr... After 5 weeks I am 20% to my weight loss goal.

244
I wanted to take the time today to write down the things I have learned, and new habits I have formed, over the past few weeks. Thu, 22 Apr 2010 22:09:35 EST Dust Collector that was the Elliptical Machine http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3111405 It is a rainy day in CA, not complaining we need the rain badly, but it does hamper the walking. So I was looking around for how to get in my cardio today without actually dusting off the Elipse that hasn't been used in months and months. Nothing came to mind that I could do for the needed time, so dusted off the machine and got started.

I had to stop just a couple of times to grab some water, but got in 48 minutes!!! Mon, 12 Apr 2010 18:27:57 EST Friend Feed Motivation http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3104631 It's Saturday and I decided not to walk first thing this morning because it was still chilly. As Saturday's go, things came up all day, errands, family "check-in" phone calls, fix meals...you get the idea.

I finally got on the computer at 7:30 pm to enter dinner and my snack on the Nutrition Tracker, and I realized I had not walked today.
