I have been coming to SP for nearly 5 years those years flew by!! I am in my post Xmas getting back to healthy eating phase. I have put on weight over Xmas but not as much as I feared...just 2 lbs. So my plan is to quickly lose those 2 lbs and gradually over the next 8 months or so get back to my target weight of 125 lbs. That is an average of 2 lbs a month which is achievable.....I have done it before, I can do it again....with the help of this fabulous site!
Wish me luck! ... Tue, 5 Jan 2016 07:21:40 EST A promise I have to keep The hardest part is facing up to the fact that I've regained 12 lbs over the last 3 years in spite of regularly counting calories and making healthy eating choices. Obviously maintenance requires more than that and if I am honest it is down to the fact that I don't exercise enough. Yes, I cycle to work everyday , weather permitting, but I do little else and I know that to maintain I have to do much more than that. I love dancing, going for country walks and I quite enjoy swimming so I shall ... Thu, 4 Jun 2015 16:33:41 EST Sharing this for all my friends :) 220
We could all use these words of encouragement now and then.

Everyone will go through some hard times at some point. Life isn't easy.

Just something to think about... did you know the people that are the strongest are usually the most sensitive?

Did you know the people who exhibit the most kindness are the first to get mistreated?

Did you know the ones who take care of others all the time are usually the ones who need it the ... Sun, 20 Oct 2013 05:26:26 EST Beautiful Essex Hedingham Castle vintage fair Today I just knew I had to go out. The rain was not going to stop me! So after a search on the web I found that Hedingham Castle was having a vintage fair today. I love antique fairs and car boot sales but I had never been to a vintage fair before. I am so glad I went! The fair had lovely stalls with all kinds of vintage clothing and bric a brac.

They also had some amazing cake stalls <img src="http://photos-ak.s... Sun, 23 Jun 2013 14:01:08 EST Cambridge (UK) with pics Today I experienced all four seasons in one hour! The sun shone for a few minutes followed by freezing snow .....repeated throughout the day! However I had a wonderful day in Cambridge (UK) which is one of my favourite cities in England. Here are some pics my husband took at the Cambridge Botanical gardens.

<img src="http://photo... Sat, 30 Mar 2013 17:53:04 EST Celebrating 6 Months Maintenance I reached my goal weight of 125 lbs on September 17th 2012. I know to many of you that losing under 40 lbs would not seem to be much but for me it has been a major achievement.

Two years ago I was so unhappy; my father had died just 2 months before and I looked for food and alcohol to fill that gap. I was already 20 lbs overweight when he died but with comfort eating/drinking I gained another 15 lbs. I tried to diet by eating only 800 calories a day but I didn't lose a pound, in ... Wed, 9 Jan 2013 17:32:57 EST My New Year Resolutions So it's that time of year when resolutions are made to improve our lives in some way. So here are mine:
1. Do more strength training. I was given a set of weights for Xmas so this has motivated me straight away.
2. Keep my calorie count between 1250 and 1750 to lose 5 holiday pounds gradually...should take about 5 to 6 weeks.
3. De-clutter my attic. My aim is to take out at least one bag per week so that by the end of the year I should have an attic that I can make sense of! <... Fri, 4 Jan 2013 11:08:11 EST How to give a Cat a Pill ( copied from the internet) How To give A Cat A Pill:
1) Pick cat up and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.

2) Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat in left arm and repeat process.

3) Retrieve cat from bedroom, and throw soggy pill a... Thu, 27 Sep 2012 15:33:08 EST Celebrating 500 days of tracking! Today I am celebrating 500 days of tracking. I started tracking my daily calorie intake before I started SP as I knew this was the only way that I could lose weight. (I have tried tracking and not tracking many time before!) So far I have lost just over 30lbs but more importantly I have been able to keep the weight off and have treat days without any guilt.
The reason I have been able to keep up the tracking is because I know it works. I track everything.....the good, the bad and the ugl... Thu, 19 Jul 2012 07:54:25 EST I've come a long way I've come a long way ...(over 30lbs loss so far) and have just under 5lbs to go. To many of you this will not seem much but to me it has made a huge difference. It has affected so much of my life. I feel more confident and relaxed about my body. I get a daily boost every time I get out of bed because now I can jump out rather than crawl and trip over! I hardly have any aches and pains. I know that everything fits in my wardrobe....the only downside being that some things are getting too big.... Sat, 7 Jul 2012 11:13:36 EST Never Quit Pledge 'm joining the "Never Quit Pledge" will you?

Taken from Vicki-B--56's blog

I have added my name to the bottom of the list.

Never Quit Pledge

Sunday, April 29, 2012
Today, I promise I will not quit.
I pledge that no matter, how many ups and downs I pass through, I will continue on my journey.
I pledge to make a NEW START today, and forgive myself for my past, and to stop being so critical of myself.
I pledge to take contro... Mon, 30 Apr 2012 13:18:39 EST A Year of Living Healthily A year ago I was facing a very sad future. My father had died in January and I could not summon up the energy to look after myself. I was putting on weight rapidly; drinking more and eating snack foods. Almost all of my clothes were too tight for me. I felt tired all the time. I would try to "diet" ( ie. put myself on a ridiculously low calorie allowance) which of course failed after just a few days. I badly needed motivation and support. My daughter told me about SP so I thought I would try... Sun, 4 Mar 2012 10:17:17 EST Speed that is not a typo! I come from a large family and as a result I learned to eat quickly ( if you didn't then you got left out on second helpings). The habit of eating quickly stayed with me all my life. Since starting SP I have made quite a few changes to my eating and drinking habits and have so far lost over 25lbs. The last habit that I hope to change forever is the speed at which I eat. I know that when I slow down I feel as though I am eating twice as much! I am working on this by trying to leave a 10 sec... Tue, 28 Feb 2012 13:33:23 EST Some men get it so wrong! Bob was in trouble. He forgot his wedding anniversary. His wife was
really pissed.

She told him "Tomorrow morning, I expect to find a gift in the
driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in 6 seconds AND IT BETTER BE THERE !!"

The next morning he got up early and left for work. When his wife woke
up, she looked out the window and sure enough there was a box
gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway.

Confused, the wife put on her robe and ran out t... Sun, 5 Feb 2012 06:46:20 EST The awful truth Was it the peanuts? Was it the crisps? Or perhaps it was that 2000 calorie Xmas Dinner?!? Anyway the uncomfortable truth is that I have put on 7lbs! Admittedly I had put on 3lbs in the week leading up to Xmas but the horrible truth is that I have put on 4lbs in 2 days!! So here I am ready to track everything that passes my lips in the hope that it bypasses my hips! 15
Happy New Year everyone and here's to a Happy and Healthy 2012! Tue, 27 Dec 2011 05:48:17 EST Remembrance Day Today is the 11th day of the 11th month Armistice Day. In the UK we remember all those who have given their lives for the sake of both world wars and in recent conflicts.
I would also like to acknowledge those who may not have lost their lives but whose lives were fundamentally changed by the world wars. Today I thought of my mother and father who so easily could have died as children as they were shot at by a machine gun from a German plane during World War 2. They surv... Fri, 11 Nov 2011 14:21:57 EST Fat Friday I have been tracking my calories since I started trying to lose weight....about 250 days now. For curiosity's sake I decided to put my calorie data on a spread sheet to see if there was any pattern to my eating. Looking at a 28 day cycle I found out that I consistently ate over 500 calories more every Friday in the first week of the cycle. Knowing this I will be more vigilant when that "Fat Friday" comes round again! 15 Fri, 4 Nov 2011 10:35:02 EST A Wonderful Day!! I had THE most wonderful day today. I went to Cambridge Fitzwilliam museum's Vermeer exhibition which was fantastic! Then I went shopping for some new lipstick & boots ( I know such a contrast, but a girl has to treat herself!) My wonderful husband said I looked gorgeous & treated me as if we had just met ( we have been together for 25 years!!) and when I came home my husband had made a fire & poured me some champagne. I am so lucky & love my life!! So I would just like to say that I am so ... Sat, 8 Oct 2011 15:06:54 EST Reached a plateau? Then try this!! If you need extra motivation to keep on track particularly when you have reached a plateau then you could try the following:
Calculate how many pounds you want to lose & then multiply that number by 3500 to give you the total number of calories you need to lose. Put this number on the top of a page of a notebook . Write the date next to it. On that page track your calories or write down the number of calories that you have consumed. Assuming that your metabolic rate is 2000 calories a da... Sun, 18 Sep 2011 16:04:55 EST Woman drops 8 dress sizes in 8 months I've just read about a truly inspirational woman called Ursula Hirschkorn who dropped 8 dress sizes in 8 months. She did everything that Spark advises to lose weight healthily tho I don't think she is on Spark as she didn't mention it. However the reason I am blogging about her is that she said something that really stood out...."Being fat is tough. Eating all the time isn't fun- I never savoured food as much as I do now that I understand that it is a treat"

Spark has taught me to... Thu, 15 Sep 2011 15:41:51 EST Danger! Plateau ahead! I knew it was going to happen....the dreaded plateau. So many times I have reached this point & have lost the plot! What is worse is that I will be going on holiday in a few days time which will mean that not only am I facing daily temptations (French wine, croissants, crusty baguettes) but I will not be able to go on SP to get my support! This is going to be a toughie!
If anybody has any advice I will be very grateful.(WARNING bribery).... best advice gets a goodie! Tue, 9 Aug 2011 09:37:46 EST Save money/Get fit/Help the community all in one ! Over the weekend I was helping my Mum to clear her house of clutter. It took 2 whole days of filling black sacks , carrying the heavy sacks downstairs and then hiking them across the driveway to the rubbish pile. As I was doing this I thought to myself : This is a great workout! Who needs the gym? I had toned up my arms (all that lifting) and legs ( all that going up & down the stairs). It then occurred to me that if everyone, instead of going to the gym, decided to help a relative or a neig... Mon, 8 Aug 2011 14:36:56 EST 150 days 150 days ago I felt desperate. I had been trying to lose weight without any success. In fact I had put on another 7lbs! None of my clothes fitted. I didn't want to look in the mirror, I felt very unfit and generally very depressed. I even considered taking diet pills which I had always regarded with suspicion.
Then I remembered my daughter talking about a diet website called Sparkpeople. So, as it was free, I decided to give it a try.
At first I found it a bit overwhelming but VERY... Thu, 4 Aug 2011 06:07:26 EST
