It really is falling out in large clumps and handfuls now. I'm not sure if I can stand it, so I'm going to have the boys shave it off today. I'm kinda glad because 1) it means the medicine is working, 2) I can stop wondering when its gonna happen, and 3) I can start wearing all my cute hats and scarves! I was diagnosed with Stage I ductal breast cancer type triple negative on 9/29/2015. I tested BRCA 1 & 2 negative!! I had a lumpectomy and lymph node resection on 11/6/2015. My first chemo (of 8) was 12/16/15. I'm doing "dose-dense" chemo with Neulasta so my next treatment is tomorrow. I currently weigh about 200 pounds and know that this does not help my health. Tue, 29 Dec 2015 14:32:09 EST Back to Basics.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5571040 I've had a lot of excuses lately why I haven't been taking care of myself, but its time to turn that back around. I'm the heaviest I've been and I don't feel well. I need to be healthier for my husband and my kids, but mostly for me. I know what I need to do, as I've done it before. It's time to work the plan. Tue, 24 Dec 2013 10:24:45 EST Finding a way to make time for me http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5418637 Ever feel like everyone else's needs come before your own? That's where I am. I need to find a way to ensure I have time for my meal planning and Sparkpeople/coach time, as well as the little things (like giving myself a pedicure!). Today I begin to take back some time for me! Fri, 12 Jul 2013 08:29:07 EST July 5 and Fireworks http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5411275 Today is our community Fourth of July celebration - as there will be the big fireworks show tonight. That means we have a bunch of friends over to celebrate with a cookout and then walk over to the high school where the show will be. I'm looking forward to this. Have planned to make a big fruit salad, and a Mediterranean veggie salad and have also made homemade baked beans (which I don't like, but the kids do). I've decided not to do my catch up work today - it can wait until Monday. Toda... I just got my new FitBit Flex - which is motivating me to exercise more. But the other thing that I know is causing me to gain is the stress. I need to focus in the next week and a half on finishing the tasks that I have left from work (I'm supposed to be on vacation) so that I can rest and recharge. Then, when I go back, I will put limits on my work, and find ways to reduce my stress, while still d... I thought, while I have Sparkpeople for many of my needs, it might be good to add a level of support and do the WW at Work program, so I signed up. I had done WW in the past, and I knew that I could use my Sparkpeople tools and follow the Momentum program without too much difficulty. I was really hoping for increased support from my coworkers. <BR> What a good decision! My co-workers ar... I know this isn't a race, but a change in how I live, so it will be gradual. That means it will last. Today will be hot, but I've already completed my exercise and will be off to work soon. Not only do I feel great and have lots more energy, I'm finding that the dog (our Golden Retriever) can only make it through half of my walk, before he poops out! I'm outwalking our bundle of energy!! I had a lot of fruits and vegetables in my cart, fresh dairy, whole grain breads, but not a lot else. The freezer is well stocked with lean beef and pork, as well as chicken breasts, so no meat was needed. And few processed foods or snacks were included in my list or my cart. At a doctor visit on the 9th of August, I weighed 189. Three weeks later, I had lost 4 1/2 pounds, even while on vacation and not able to control all of my food choices myself. I have often pushed away plates of food, before they are clean, as I feel full and don't really want any more food. I have awoken early both mornings, without an alarm clock, and felt the desire to go and exercise. Thu, 19 Aug 2010 07:46:08 EST Confounded by choices.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3544233 Okay, so I made a bad choice today. It was a weak moment, I was on my way home, hungry (I was 2:30 p.m. and I hadn't eaten since 7:30 a.m.) and I knew I was going home to a sick child. So, I pulled into McDonald's. I could have ordered a hamburger happy meal with a coke (not great, but better than....) but instead I ordered a Quarter Pounder w/Cheese meal (Medium sized) with a real Coke. Now that I've journaled that in my nutrition, I see just what a bad choice it was. That will definate... My dog, Norman, is always happy to join me, although he is only able to make it through half of my workout right now! I've expanded my walk and added a group of tunes that help me keep my pace quite brisk. I don't think I'll worry about getting to a 'run' pace - but I like that I can do 3.8 to 4.0 mph and really get my heart going. I'll save my join... I've basically been out of action as far as my own health and physical activity, because work got so hectic! Between baseball, handbells, and work, I feel like I"m going crazy. But, I've kept getting up early and at least walking, and most of the time, running, which helps to clear the mind and get me going on a better foot. The dog loves the running and he is a great motivator - always ready to go! The weather has been nice lately, but I have also been known to put that poncho on and go run in the rain. It feels good to be doing something that I can feel the results almost immediately. The first couple of days, I could feel my butt flopping - but now, it seems to have tighten... I'd been feeling depressed and had gotten off my good habits, but am trying to pick them up again! I was able to get up early and walk the dog this morning - nothing like an enthusiastic walking partner at 5 a.m.! I was glad to be able to do it today, but could tell I felt weak and out of sync. Amazing how just two days made such a difference. I'm glad my routine is taking hold! I will have my first big challenge at the end of this week. On Sunday I go away to a conference at State College. I won't have my Wii and will be eating out the whole time. There have been many days that I just dreaded getting up at 5 a.m. (!) to complete my workout, and there have been some days where I've done my 10 minutes of cardio and nothing else, but at least I did that 10 minutes! After 6 unexpected days off - (thank you blizzard of 2010) and oodles of quality time with my children (GO BACK TO SCHOOL), we return to our routine today. When I don't have my routine for that long, I find I start dropping little pieces of the puzzle. For example, I haven't planned my meals for the week.
