New me http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=6055596 In the past few months I've joined a gym and have gotten a personal trainer. I was at 318.4lbs when I started. Now I'm at 305.1lbs. I've been hovering between 305 and 300. My goal right now is to get under 300. I know that this also requires me to make changes outside going to the gym 2 to 3 times a week. To help keep me fully accountable I'd like to share those changes and the progress I am making towards them. Firstly, a little background on my eating habits... I've not always been a big e... Wed, 30 Dec 2015 19:59:06 EST New Approach http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5748516 So apparently I haven't been keeping up with my former plan. I have decided to simplify. I now plan to take 3000 steps a day until it becomes easy. At that point I will up the count to 4000 steps and slowly work my way up. Hoping I can stick with this. Starting tonight by taking my dog for a walk around Kiwanis Park lake. Mon, 28 Jul 2014 21:21:49 EST New workout plan.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5590814 So as you can tell, I've been trying to find my exercise niche. I think I've finally found it. Recently a coworker and I signed up for a membership at Planet Fitness. We have started off strong by going faithfully for the first week. I know, I know.... "Big deal. Anyone can stay faithful for the first week." Well, this is actually an achievement for me. Let me explain why... I have had 3 gym memberships in my life since graduating from high school. With my weight it is very easy to get discou... Sun, 12 Jan 2014 00:24:56 EST Randomness update http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5552471 So I had my first lesson in yoga. I did not know that you could be sore from yoga. Lesson learned. Haha. This Thanksgiving I didn't eat my heart out on turkey and all the trimmings. I instead ate light and continued my workout. The yoga is still a challenge but I did just start it so I didn't expect it to be easy already. If it was I'd be worried. The planks for 10 seconds was a challenge today but the crunches were easy. I always say that there is a six-pack somewhere under all my fat. Haha.... Thu, 28 Nov 2013 22:40:41 EST Randomness http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5550870 So today I have kinda of relaxed a bit. This past week/weekend has been crazy with my dad and all the doctor appointments. He's back at work today. Testing the waters. Later today I'm meeting up with one of my friends from high school, Dante. He's going to be teaching me some simple yoga to work into my workout routine. So far I've been doing the 5 second planks and 5 crunches. Now moving it up to 10 second planks and 10 crunches. I'm only doing 5 planks per workout for now but debating on st... Tue, 26 Nov 2013 16:27:34 EST New plan update http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5536240 Well, time to update how first week went. I'm a bit sore. Starting to think it may take more than just a week to recover. Sat, 9 Nov 2013 00:14:37 EST A new plan... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5518729 So, what I've been using to try to motivate me to work through the pain isn't working. (Obviously). I've decided that I'm gonna try something new. I found 5 outfits that I want but am too big to get (even though they come in my size). Starting November 1st - November 8th I'm going to be doing 5 elbow planks for 5 seconds at a time each day, as well as 5 crunches/sit ups each day. Then I will take a week off since my body is not used to that (and I don't want to rack up the pain points). Then ... Sun, 20 Oct 2013 19:17:47 EST Insomnia: Conquered http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5474152 Finally, a full night's sleep. Definitely makes it easier to focus at work. Swelling is still in at least one foot full-time but it is so much better to be able to lay down and not fidget all night. I know my puppy prefers it.

Tue, 3 Sep 2013 01:50:15 EST Insomnia: Give up yet? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5331997 So now it's been close to 2mo & 1wk of my insomnia battle. I have had minor victories. Counting them all. As of late I have been getting more sleep. Last night however was a setback. Let me explain why. I went to visit a friend in downtown Phx. For those that don't know, if you have to go to downtown Phx but don't have a lot of money, go on the weekends. Parking at the meters is free on the weekends (per an officer that was going by me as I parked). So I took advantage of this free parking as... Mon, 22 Apr 2013 16:35:30 EST Insomnia: The Battle Rages On http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5320766 So I have been able to get a few hours of sleep almost every night. Not sure if it is because my body id just giving up & I'm winning the battle against insomnia, or if whatever is causing my insomnia is going away. Either way, the much needed extra rest seems to be making me more tired & less prone to try to sleep. Could this be a mind trick from my opponent? I'm thinking so. I won't let it win. I'm too stubborn to do that. I'll keep fighting til I can't fight any more. Claiming the small vi... Fri, 12 Apr 2013 11:44:02 EST Insomnia: The Battle http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5316128 So for the past month & 1/2 I've ben fighting insomnia. Most nights insomnia wins but I have a had a few nights where I've managed to get 3 hours of unstop sleep before waking up to spend the rest of the night reading books & cleaning. Surprisingly enough, when you know that sleep is not an option, you can get a lot of cleaning done cause you don't have to worry about going to bed in time to get enough sleep for the next day. My puppy hates the insomnia. He tries helping mommy sleep any chanc... Mon, 8 Apr 2013 16:34:02 EST Virtual Walk update..... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5252980 I realize I have not updated my Virtual walk. Trust me, I have been keeping track. I am no longer in the Phoenix valley metro area. I am officially on the highway headed east. I plan on further updating this when I can map exactly how far it is that I've walked and where exactly I'm at at this moment. Sat, 16 Feb 2013 20:35:23 EST Time Away http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5252978 I know I've spent some time away and have not been too active on the site for about a month. I have not given up trying to get healthier. I've just been super busy trying to make sure I learn all the ins and outs of my job. This has been stressful. Now that I'm finally getting into a groove, I feel it's time to come back to this site where I've found so much support and inspiration to get healthy. I know that since I haven't been on the site I haven't been eating to healthy even though I've t... Sat, 16 Feb 2013 20:32:44 EST Virtual Walk Update... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5136434 So a little update on my virtual walk. I'm almost out of the city! As of today I have walked a total of 19.33 miles. This puts me just west of Signal Butte Rd. Since I'm not quite to the intersection of Baseline and Signal Butte, I'm mostly just seeing housing on my right. Ahead there is a dirt lot with a fully fenced in house/shed on the south-west corner. On the north side of the street from where I'm at there is a KFC and a Chase Bank on the north-west corner. Since I'm no good at really e... Thu, 15 Nov 2012 14:13:04 EST Friday 11/9/12 Bike Ride http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5132188 So on Friday I went on a bike ride to meet up with my mom again. Was tired, hurting, and had no energy before the ride. Told myself I was gonna do it anyway cause I had already agreed. The decided meet up place was Country Club and Baseline this time. It only took me 3 hours this time. I'm proud that I was able to ride the bike more this time. Once we met up at Country Club and Baseline we rode up to Wendy's on Guadalupe and Country Club for lunch. Both went for a healthy lunch. :) After eati... Mon, 12 Nov 2012 01:24:47 EST Monday's Bike Ride http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5119272 I know I should have blogged about this Monday but I was so worn out I couldn't stay awake long enough to. 198 Monday my mom and I had agreed to meet up halfway to spend some mom/daughter time together. We agreed to meet at the Walmart on Stapely and Baseline as a halfway point. We also agreed that we'd ride our bikes to our destination. I haven't ridden my bike in close to 2 years, and I wasn't very confident on the bike then. I left my house at 7:45 am since I had to go to the Q... Wed, 31 Oct 2012 15:22:11 EST An update on my Virtual Walk.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5112576 I know I haven't been too on top of updating everyone on where I am on my virtual walk. I'm walking from Tempe, AZ to Webster City, Iowa. So far I've walked 10.79 miles. In this area of my walk I am at the town of Gilbert, AZ. To be specific it brings me to just east of Lindsay Rd and Baseline Rd. Around this corner there isn't much to see. :) Thu, 25 Oct 2012 14:44:25 EST
