I know, what a shock to see a blog from me. I just got out of the habit of blogging. I think I am going to try and start back up again. I will write another one today separate from this one to catch you all up with me, but this first one I want to ask all of my sparks buddies to do me a favor and go visit a new sparks members page and welcome her. She is a lovely lady that lives here in the village next over from mine.

She has my very first pedometer that I us... Tue, 28 Mar 2017 10:21:50 EST Diet changing helping my GERD So, I admit that I was very frustrated with my ongoing esophagitis. It's been like a month of suffering even though I have been on a drug program. So, I decided to do research and change my diet. At first I was depressed as so many of my favorite foods are trigger foods such as raspberries, yogurt (love my Greek yogurt), tomatoes and the list goes on and on. But I had a little talk with myself and said that I again need to view food as medicine and change it I switched out the y... Sat, 6 Aug 2016 12:23:13 EST Trying premium So I am loving the trial of Premium without the pop up ads. here in Mexico it makes a big big difference on how fast pages load. I wanted to try a couple of images to see if they loaded any faster and they did as well. So I am thinking I will support sparks which has been so good to me and purchase it. these two photos were from a birthday party we went to the other night. had to have my photo with Tony as our outfits matched so well.
hope you all are doing just great.
I am sti... Fri, 5 Aug 2016 10:58:08 EST Matching outfits It was such a funny thing. you might have thought the 3 of us ladies planned this but we didn't. We had to have our photo taken since all of us matched so well.

Met with my GI doctor and he said no surgery but the 24 hour PH test showed that my PH did not stay at the right level long enough to diges... Fri, 15 Jul 2016 10:36:44 EST Esophageal manometry and esophageal PH test completed I can say that I made it though both tests. They were both a pain in the butt. I have been poked, and prodded and all kinds of tests over the years with this Sjogren's Syndrome, but I must say these two were just annoying. I got the tube/senor for the Ph thing put in on Tuesday for the 24 hour test. I went in just fine but for 24 hours I felt it every time I swallowed and it was uncomfortable and annoying as heck. I was so happy to get it out yesterday! the manometry was just not fun! ... Thu, 7 Jul 2016 09:48:47 EST Thank you for all your support! Happy 4th of July! I am always amazed at the outpouring of love on this site!!! Thank you so much for listening and supporting me.

I hope everyone has a healthy happy 4th of July!

It always seems different here in Mexico on the 4th of July as it really isn't celebrated here...well "gringos" do get together for picnics and such. We are going out for a late lunch with good friends. I won't be drinking as tomorrow I go in for my 2 tests to see if I need surgery.

Happy 4th of Jul... Mon, 4 Jul 2016 10:06:40 EST Update on my soap opera For those of you who know me and have followed me for years, you know my saga with my mother and sister. I posted in January that I have had enough so I made a hard decision that for my health I had to cut them off. Just a reminder...Mom left Mexico with $800,000 and after my sister and mother were in a car accident (just banged up) I decided I should know what bank and where my mother's assets were so that if needed if something happened to my sister mother would have funds. You might hav... Sun, 3 Jul 2016 10:51:19 EST Quinceanera My DH and I attended the quinceanera of our gardener's niece whom we have known for 11 years. For those of you who aren't aware of the celebration, it's the celebration of a girl becoming a woman. It is a huge deal here in Mexico and it is as big a celebration as a wedding. Huge cake, mucho music, mucho drink and food. And the dress the young lady wears is as much if not more expensive than a wedding gown. We were the only "gringos" at the event but were treated like king and queen with ... Sat, 2 Jul 2016 10:43:11 EST My work was never done! My DH and I got into being silly with so many rocks while hiking. Enjoy and have a great day! <img src="http://photosaws.sparkpeople... Fri, 1 Jul 2016 11:55:51 EST Esophageal manometry and esophageal PH test? so anyone out there have experience with these tests? I am having both done on the 5th. I went to my GI doc this week and we discussed the fact that I am needing to go on meds for often for my esophagitis to knock it down. I am doing everything naturally that I can...eating smaller meals, watching what I eat, etc. but nothing I am doing naturally seems to keep the burning down. I have a hiatal hernia, which I have known about for years but again, was able to get relief from taking meds w... Wed, 29 Jun 2016 10:45:34 EST Me and my hoodoos!
These photos are from another of my favorite hikes. We got up again very early like 5am to hike into Bryce Canyon. We did the difficult trail and about 8 miles. There was beauty everywhere you looked. I was fascinated and truly felt a spirit as we hiked. Hiking at that altitude is always a challenge as well so you really have to be prepared with mucho agua!!! My DH carried two big bottles attached to the front of his backpack and several bottles inside his backpack. I will never ... Mon, 27 Jun 2016 11:29:50 EST Living on the edge! Long time no blog!!!

I got tired of waiting for photos to upload as Sparks is just sooooo slow. But my DH and I just finished a 5 week road trip and did many national parks. it was a very active trip with tons of hiking. I will try and post some of the more interesting ones. Here is one for a scary one in Zion called Angel's Landing.
So for those that have asked me to post all we did on our trip, I will try and catch you up over the next couple of days. This was one of o... Thu, 16 Jun 2016 10:56:54 EST Nice knowing Isn't it nice to know you can go out for a planned meal, knowing you are just going to relax and enjoy the meal without guilt? I am like 5 pounds over my goal right now but I am not freaking out the way I used to. I still went out for a late lunch/early dinner with friends for pizza and beer. My favorite meal. And I enjoyed every bite and sip. It is nice knowing that even though I am not at my goal weight, I still allowed myself the planned "treat". It's taken me almost all of my 63 yea... Sun, 24 Jan 2016 10:50:30 EST Thank you! Words just aren't enough to say thank you to all of you for your on going support. I know yesterday's blog was a long one but so many of you read it and reached out to me which simply brought tears to my eyes! This place is such a safe place to share and express yourself and know that you aren't going to be judged.

So bless you all, and my sincere thanks!
Sallie Thu, 21 Jan 2016 10:11:24 EST So finally cut my Mother and Sister off. Sad Sorry for not blogging for a while but I wanted to let my "head" and heart settle down. I had a wonderful trip up north. Went to my 45th class reunion in Pennsylvania, in early November. which was a hoot. Then flew out to Seattle to have Thanksgiving with other son and his new wife and family. We were with them when they found their new house. We saw it the same time they did. They had been looking for quite some time now. They wanted a home with a view of Puget Sound. They found a w... Wed, 20 Jan 2016 10:00:35 EST Merry Christmas to all!
We did our matching pj photo yesterday as we didn't want to make a big deal out of it tonight since my husband's ex-wife won't have the matching pjs. It was fun and the kids get such a kick out of the "tradition". I crocheted matching hats for all of us in our beloved Eagles colors.
Having lunch wit... Thu, 24 Dec 2015 09:16:09 EST Some catch up photos Made it through the flare without having to go into the hospital. woo hoo. took prednisone but have already tapered off it and not on it now. That way when I need it, it will work better. Been a very busy lady. I am in charge of wrapping all the presents and the kids are not allowed in Nama's room. I will try and get a photo of my work but not sure if I have a wide enough lens if you get my drift! Can you say "spoiled".

Here are some photos. One you will see of Sean and h... Fri, 18 Dec 2015 09:12:11 EST Can't thank you all enough!!! Really, it brings tears to my eyes reading all your messages and looking at all the goodies from you all regarding the loss of my dear FIL. I do feel so loved. Sorry if I am not able to get back to each of you and everyone of you.

Unfortunately, for those of you that follow me, you know that I have Sjogrens Syndrome and have bad flare ups and have been hospitalized for them...I have been very fortunate and have not had to go to the hospital since May of 2014...........but I am ... Fri, 4 Dec 2015 17:30:40 EST FIL is finally at peace
My dear buddy, my father-in-law finally passed away. I will miss him so very much. He was a neat guy. RIP my dear man!
Sallie Tue, 1 Dec 2015 19:49:59 EST Getting back into some old bad behaviors And I need to just cut it out!!! In Mexico it's easy not to keep junk foods in the house as they are so expensive and we just don't buy them so they don't tempt me....but here at the kids house they have sooooo much junk. Tons of it. My DIL is awful about keeping things on hand that really shouldn't be eating. I feel bad for Lyla as it constantly temps her and she is always asking for junk. I have been indulging as well and it makes me feel not up to speed. so I have had it and no more.... Thu, 12 Nov 2015 10:11:26 EST Great time at 45th Reunion <img src=" Mon, 9 Nov 2015 10:13:02 EST Boots found Lyla's Mommy admitted to hiding them as Lyla is so hard on shoes/boots and the weather has been so nice that her Mommy didn't want her wearing them. too funny.

Tonight is my highschool 45th class reunion. Where does time go? It doesn't start until 7pm. Hope I can stay away...LOL. My DH is me. He doesn't want me driving alone at night. Such a nice guy. He is just thankful that I am willing to go alone so he doesn't have to be bored.

Hope you all have a great week ... Sat, 7 Nov 2015 12:00:27 EST Case of the dissappearing new boots. So we bought granddaughter new boots. She wore them out to play but then got in trouble as she and her girlfriend were ringing doorbells and then running away. So I had to go over and get her and send her to her room. She had them on then. She is supposed to put them in the laundry room. We have searched everywhere and can't find them. in closets, under beds, outside on gone, can't seem to find them

So how many of you have had things just walk off. Aliens from Ma... Thu, 5 Nov 2015 16:38:47 EST Loving being with the grandkids. Thanks for all your thoughts and suggestions regarding grandson, Sean's constant coughing. His parents said that they did talk to his doctor and they did a blood test and he is allergic to apples, peaches and some other fruits. They said that he gets this way during spring and fall mostly. So at least it gives me some comfort that it's not a cold. We gave him a little over the counter allergy cough syrup and it seemed to help. I like the idea of giving him a tablespoon full of local hone... Wed, 4 Nov 2015 09:37:45 EST Grandson and constant coughing. So having an autoimmune disease and taking immune suppressants is a pain in the butt when you have a loving grandson who coughs constantly. We are pretty sure it's allergies. It is so hard for me to relax around him as I am soooo afraid of getting sick. He is 9 years old so we just had this great conversation and I told him all about my disease and how the medicines lower my immune system and that is why I am so careful not to get sick. He was so cute. He said that on the meds I have an ... Tue, 3 Nov 2015 09:56:10 EST Great Halloween fun! <img src=" Sun, 1 Nov 2015 10:35:09 EST Hurricane Pat

We not only "survived" the hurricane, but we didn't even lose electricity. Go figure! So many times here in Mexico we will lose power over nothing and here it was a hurricane and we didn't. As you can see we all prepared the best we could bringing things inside and tying things down. Then the 3 couples here on the mountain(the mountain people) together for a hurricane party. we ha... Sat, 24 Oct 2015 11:36:03 EST Father-in-law For those of you who have been through this you know how hard it is when you are losing someone dear to you. My father-in-law is still hanging on but refusing to eat. He drinks a little water but not much else. His daughter is here from California which is really a good thing for my husband as support. On Thursday it was my DH's birthday so we took a cake over to FIL's room. Mina, my friend and owner of the nursing home set out some snacks and we had a small "party" in his room. They ar... Sun, 18 Oct 2015 10:44:43 EST long time no blog Been very distracted with my father-in-law. For those of you that follow me, you know my father-in-law had back surgery two years ago now. We have done everything to try and get him to work at getting well but he just didn't try. We are now at the stage where he is passing away. We had last rites administered yesterday. He is only eating a little yogurt and that is it. very weak. who knows how long he will be with us but he is ready to go and we have respected that. We are keeping him... Wed, 14 Oct 2015 19:42:57 EST Been a while since I blogged. Well, let's see again today we only have half the house with power. My DH goes crazy. I will be happy when we get through our final testimony of the stupid law suit that has been going on now for 5 years so that he can travel whenever he wants. that way he can spend more time up north living with the grandkids. I can just let the no electricity thing go and realize that it's something of which I have no control over and when it happens, I count my other blessings. Like the beautiful weat... Fri, 25 Sep 2015 10:59:10 EST Catching up with photos about a week ago went out with neighbors who kept talking about this new place that has awesome ribs. so we finally went. but wow, as you can see by the was a huge plate of ribs. but so yummy and hardly any fat. I ate about 3 of them and rest came home for dinner for my DH the next day. but as always good fun with neighbors and loved the new place.
hope you all have a wonderful Tuesday. Make it a great day.
Sallie
Oh and my ribs were like $7 us Tue, 15 Sep 2015 11:04:00 EST Finally Seahawk Sunday...the season has begun! I was a busy, busy gal. My DH kept inviting more people over for the kick off of the football season and the first Seahawks game and therefore I crocheted like crazy so that each of the 16 people would have either a hat(made 14) or headband. Did them all in the Seahawk colors of blue and green. Even though our team lost we all had a great time.
Hope you all have a great week.
Sallie
... Mon, 14 Sep 2015 12:59:26 EST Busy day Went to Home Depot and got supplies to hang our big Eagles and Seahawks flags...and got all the burgers and brats and rolls and such. should be a fun time. yeah football season. going to these places is a full takes about an hour from our little village to get to GDL where these stores are.

I crocheted the whole time so it helped the time go by quicker. I am finishing one more Seahawk hat to have one for all our guests on Sunday. I hope the photo for kick off of Seah... Fri, 11 Sep 2015 19:22:52 EST Getting ready for football season So my DH has now invited over 16 people for football kick off season beginning with the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. I have enough hats and/or headbands for all so it should make for some fun photos. The problem is that the darn teams keep changing the green of their teams uniforms. I think they do that so that they can sell more of the "stuff" to fans. Anyway I started with one color of green and then it switched but that's okay we will all have blue and green anyway. And I like the gree... Wed, 9 Sep 2015 10:18:43 EST Sure am exercising my hands!! I know that sounds funny, but with my Sjogren's syndrome, I have connective tissue disorder and pain in hands and feet. the pain management doctor told me that it is really important for me to exercise my hands and feet. So I took up crocheting. I don't really do anything complicated just things that I can do while watching TV. But I put in about 3 hours off and on all day. I can't begin to tell you how many Seahawk colored hats and Eagle colored hats I have made. and I have made many, ... Mon, 7 Sep 2015 12:42:06 EST New necklace We have so many artists here in our village. I have noticed that I have been drawn to wearing teal and brown recently. I saw this necklace and earrings and had to have them...LOL I had fun wearing them out to dinner the other night. Went to dinner with my dear friend Georgia. I have known her now for over 11 years. We are still such dear friends. Isn't it wonderful when you really "click" with someone and get along very well? Her DH though has been getting grumpier and grumpier as he ... Sun, 6 Sep 2015 11:18:51 EST Happy Thrusday they call it Throw back Thursday.
So for today, Thursday's Throw back Thursday, I scanned a photo of the swim team I was on as a kid. This was taken when I was around 11 or 12. I took the main photo and digitally blew it up and cut it into two photos... Thu, 3 Sep 2015 19:17:56 EST Have you heard of Hibiscus tea?

weight-loss.html

So at the pool party this week end the hostess had a big container of red tea. I asked her about it and she said it's a typical Mexican tea made out of Hibiscus flower that is common down here. She said that it is very healthy for you. So I went and bought a big bag of the dried flowers and made myself some yesterday. I had tried hers at the party and loved the flavor.

so anyway went on line... Tue, 1 Sep 2015 10:53:37 EST Fun time yesterday at friends pool party

Great fun at friend's home yesterday. It was one where the hosts grilled hamburgers and hotdogs and then we all contributed dishes to go with them. I got up early and made a big crock pot full of old fashioned ... Mon, 31 Aug 2015 11:12:32 EST Fun Fashion Show yesterday

I had a wonderful time modeling yesterday at the Ladies of the Lake luncheon. The clothes I modeled were made by local Mexican women who learn skills so that they can make a living and improve their situations. ... Sat, 29 Aug 2015 10:15:55 EST Another fashion show today I have been asked again to model. This time it's for a really good cause. I am modeling clothes that are made by local Mexican women and sold in a little boutique. The women who make the clothes are usually women who are in a bad situation and they are taught to sew and make clothes to earn money to improve their situations. So I am happy to help out. I just heard from the woman organizing the show and she has asked me if I would go out first. I told her "no problem". It's funny I gues... Fri, 28 Aug 2015 10:40:44 EST Planned splurges I find now that I am in maintenance I can plan a splurge and totally enjoy it. This is such a blessing knowing that I can have something I desire and not feel guilty or afraid that it will lead to a full out binge that I have a hard time recovering from.

Our neighbor and friend, who's wife has been away for a month(due to brother passing), normally eats low carb. He and his wife have been doing this for years. The thing is that we have watched them continue to put the pounds on.... Wed, 26 Aug 2015 10:55:15 EST Very Interesting article I rarely post things that are political but this article touched me this morning.

My family came from humble backgrounds. My grandparents on my father's side were immigrants coming through Ellis Island. My grandfather died when my father and his brothers were young and the three boys went to school but also worked to support their mother who had diabetes and had lost a leg(eventually both).

My mother's mother was a single mother who raised 4 children by opening thei... Tue, 25 Aug 2015 11:01:22 EST Without power yesterday We woke up without power yesterday no internet. Around 6 am there was a big boom so another transformer blew. It's amazing how dependent we are on our creature comforts such as TV and internet. My DH and I sat and read our Kindles(good thing both were charged). It sure was peaceful and quiet. We could have started the generator but we just wanted the quiet. So glad though that it came back on in time to watch the golf tournament. We had invited our neighbor and friend over...
