Sun, 17 Feb 2013 23:36:27 EST Eating too many carbs, but adding freggies http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5252056 I am happy when I list the food I ate, I can put in "skip fast foods" because I am eating more fruits and veggies. Just too many carbs still. I ate a bowl of granola for breakfast with 2 small green apples with cinnamon,, oatmeal for lunch with raisins and dinner is chicken, baked potato and green beans. Twice the amount of carbs that I want to eat a day, but at least I am eating more freggies daily. I got another bottle of cough syrup and ear drops because the ear infection didn't clear up. I walked the dogs to pick up the meds, and it was a bit longer than it looked. It took an hour. I was feeling it and it didn't feel good. Well my ears did pop from the walking, but Im coughing more now from the dust blowing up. I am going to schedule an appointment with my ENT doctor. This ... Mon, 21 Jan 2013 20:53:20 EST Finally walked the dogs http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5211907 I had a doctor's appointment today and when we were leaving, the dogs got out. We got them back in, but I was running late. I had to run up two flights of stairs and got there with 3 minutes to spare. I know the dogs are frustrated that I haven't been walking them since I've been sick. I think I am finally getting better. The cold weather we have been having has finally broke and its a breezy 68F. I'm not coughing up green phlegm today, so the antibiotics are finally kicking in. ... It looks like fresh produce put in the freezer. I found online that I should cover the plants with a dark cloth and protect them from the sun. Today I plan to remove the dark cloth and gently mist the vegetables. Wow, my BF just volunteered to do it for me. I asked him... I went to the doctor's today. My BP was 96/60 !!! last year it was 140/40. (oops, I meant 140/90) This is how exercising has helped me. It was nice to see that change. My weight? 122 lbs. Tue, 2 Oct 2012 00:02:27 EST Heavy cleaning is a fitness activity http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5064323 I used my pedometer to measure my daily walk. I was surprised it was 2.157 miles. I used the map here and thought it was only 1.4 miles. Are my legs that short that I take that many steps to go 1.4 miles? My BF has a portable GPS. I will try to get him to find it and measure the walk. I wish I had the pedometer on when I was cleaning house. I came home angry and used my energy to vacuum the living room. Tue, 11 Sep 2012 21:28:20 EST First week of Sept down already http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5051821 I didn't make my 250 fitness minutes goal the first week. I've just been so stressed from work, I don't want to do anything during the weekend. I took the dogs for a longer walk today to make up for missing Friday and Saturday. I woke up at 5 am this morning and my dogs were whining to go, but it was raining and I'm not a morning person, esp in the rain being pulled by two dogs. I don't think so. We went out at sunset instead and that was much better for me. I woke up at 5am bec... Sun, 9 Sep 2012 23:48:50 EST I had a nice 3 day weekend http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5043297 No, I didn't do anything exciting. Today I walked the dogs, did dishes, laundry, cleaned the bathroom and prepared a presentation for Tuesday. I went to church on Saturday, and on Sunday I don't remember doing anything but walking the dogs. Not exciting, but it was nice to have the time and not feel rushed. Tue, 4 Sep 2012 00:35:26 EST Mid-month goal is 500 fitness minutes http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5020234 I'm close to my goal, its possible to catch up. I think I forget to add everything everyday. For the last month I have been going to the gym 4x a month and doing the elliptical for 20 or 25 minutes and weight training. I also walk my dogs 5x a week for 1 or 2 miles a day. Lately its only been 5x a week instead of 7x a week and I'm trying to walk half the amount instead of nothing at all. They get very depressed when I don't. Im using a pedimetor and average 10,000 plus steps a ... Sat, 18 Aug 2012 02:54:48 EST So far, I wish it was the weekend http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5015064 I wanted to sleep in as late as possible. Something I stressed to my BF a number of times last night. He was up and has been talking to me for two hours before I wanted to wake. I kept reminding him I wanted to sleep in, yet he keeps bugging me. I woke up just now and found him sleeping next to me. Great alarm clock he makes. When he turned it off this morning, I kept asking if he reset it. He didn't. AT least I woke up with enough time to get ready and still be on time this... Tue, 14 Aug 2012 12:03:44 EST Monday, didn't we just do that last week? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5014517 I woke up early, walked the dogs and got to work on time. WOOT, that's a challenge for me, but walking in the morning does have its pluses. The time restraint is not one of them. Would you believe at work someone stole the copper plumbing off the building outside? Crazy times we live in. After work I went downtown AGAIN (3rd time now) and they have me a little trouble with the paperwork AGAIN but they did accepted it. Oh Thank God, its taken care of for one more year. A... Sat, 11 Aug 2012 01:14:20 EST walked two hours Wednesday night http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4998802 Not because I wanted to, but had to. My dog got out and I searched for him for two hours. I couldn't help but think I wished I had my pedometer on me. My dog is seven years old and has done this maybe five times in the last seven years, and always comes home. I cant help but worry that he might have been hit by a car. My boyfriend came home and drove over to meet me and suddenly my dog shows up like he was just waiting for a ride home. I was very annoyed with him because he was ob... Thu, 2 Aug 2012 23:08:35 EST Counting steps, what a variety http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4996392 On Monday I had 12,236 steps. I was feeling bad that day, but pushed myself anyways. On Tuesday I woke up in so much pain, I called in sick. I was in a few car accidents, and I have problems with whiplash. I wore my pedometer while at home on Tuesday and only got a little over 1,237 steps! LOL. What a difference. Wed, 1 Aug 2012 12:54:00 EST I got a pedometer on Friday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4992525 And from Friday night until now I've walked 15,911 steps. SWEET. It good to know I average about 7,500 steps a day. It won't take too much more effort to make 10,000 steps a day. I have seen guys who hit the weights, but never do any real sports. They look clumsy and unable to move. This beats the whole purpose of being physically fit. The point is to improve your health and mobility. I can understand if Lindsay said don't be afraid of adding weight training to your routine, but totally disagree with cutting out cardio. <BR> Sun, 29 Jul 2012 03:33:19 EST Woke up earlier to walk the dogs http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4989120 I don't have to leave in the morning until 930am, and its been my habit to wake up as late as 9am. I went to bed at 11pm last night and woke up before my alarm. I didn't walk the dogs last night and told them we would walk in the morning, and it feels really good to follow through. The morning was cooler than night and I hope to make this my new habit. Fri, 27 Jul 2012 11:01:21 EST Joined a club this week http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4981270 I've been going everyday and its been hard getting back into it. Its been about ten years and I can really feel the changes in my body. I've been hurting a lot. The "trainers" say this is a good thing, but its not. its not my muscles that ache, its my joints. I'm getting a sharp pain above my kneecaps and my neck and shoulders are so stiff I can hardly move them. On the up side; I do feel a difference in my legs! When I took a shower today, I noticed I felt leaner and stron... Sun, 15 Jul 2012 23:37:58 EST Summer fruit in season http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4969569 Feeling good & enjoying the weekend. I went shopping last night and bought summer fruit like rainer cherries, nectarines, and apricots. Its been a lot easier to eat 5 fruits and veggies because they are so good. I also had peas and carrots with dinner. Do raisins count towards freggies? Because that reminds me of the onions and raisins in my lunch. I have to go shopping again tonight because the store didnt have milk, chicken or pitas last night. I usually buy ground turkey bu... Sat, 14 Jul 2012 04:03:30 EST Happy 4th of July! Keep your pets inside tonight http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4955016 It rained last night and our 2 yr old male cat came home. I was happy to see him and I think he was satisfied that we missed him and went our looking/calling for him while he was missing. We didn't walk last night because of the rain and went to bed early. I woke up before the alarm and we went walking this morning instead. We love the rain in Arizona. All the trees looked so green. The creole bush fragrances the air and water pooled in the washes. When we were heading back... Wed, 4 Jul 2012 11:48:12 EST New dog, cat ran away today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4952902 Amber has been pretty well behaved not chasing the cats, but our 2 year old male cat ran away today. I hope he would come home for dinner, but he didn't. I'm sad and worried about him. There are coyotes in this area. Tue, 3 Jul 2012 00:51:04 EST Amber's 3rd day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4951301 We walked 2.5 miles a day for 6 out of 7 days this week, thanks to Amber. I saw Johnny and Amber playing today, which makes me happy. She also had a BM, which she hasn't yet so its a relief knowing nothing is wrong after her surgery on Thursday morning. There wasn't any new spots on the carpet this morning, another good turn of events and our 12 year old tabby hasn't peed in our bed again. Its amazing how quickly we all adjusted in just 4 days! I will add pictures of Amber asap. I...
