The wheels are turning and I am not going to sleep. I was able to update a few items on my 40 before 40 challenge. Most of them are at work but I also had my Ukulele debut at the reception for my parent's 50th anniversary. I sang "Under the Boardwalk" and "When I'm 64" while playing the ukulele which I started playing earlier this year. Both songs were hits during the year they were married. I guess I can add that I organized it with my sister to the list as I never did a... Tue, 18 Nov 2014 03:30:29 EST Overtime and special events = excuses to going off plan Some days were good, some days were bad. I did well on tracking most of the days but did not track on a couple. I need to start tracking EVERYTHING. NO MORE EXCUSES!!! Tuesday is the last of my airport duties and overtime hours. There are still some Fall Flavors events which I will participate but would like to figure out when my French course is before committing to more things. I am getting impatient for them to figure out which night is class night. It is holding up my regular work.... Sun, 31 Aug 2014 21:13:46 EST Reason Not to Quit #1 – The Beach Today I took Lavinia to Cavendish Beach. I do like the beach. I felt oh so out of shape after my shenanigans this month. I went totally off plan, drinking wine, eating donuts and fast food. I have trained for the 5k but have not been exercising lately since I have been working extra hours.

We got to Cavendish and parked fairly close to the boardwalk. It was a nice sunny day and things were great until we walked down the stairs and onto the beach. Walking on sand is really h... Tue, 29 Jul 2014 08:00:52 EST Cox and Palmer 5K - my first timed race. I did my first 5k timed race this morning. It was fantastic. I ran 2 mins, walked 2 mins until the last bit where I did 1 min intervals. At the end people were cheering me on. It was fantastic. I found it incredibly hard to breathe throughout my run. I think maybe there was a lot of pollen in the air. Maybe it is just more wooded in that part of Charlottetown than in Victoria and here where I train.
I was so happy to have finished. I was sure that I was last and when I saw my r... Sat, 19 Jul 2014 22:05:48 EST Charlie`s Walk This year we had another successful Charlie`s Walk. We raised some money for the QEH cancer center and got out and enjoyed the beautiful morning in scenic North Rustico. This year was just a mess. I was so stressed out coming off nights and with issues with Lavinia that I really did nothing I had planned to raise any money. I was going to sell some baked goods at work and ask for donations but did none of that. I gave a good donation but still felt bad about not doing what I had planned.... Mon, 30 Jun 2014 21:14:45 EST Week 8 of the BLC 25 CICO and challenges Lately I have really been overwhelmed both in home life, training for the Color Run, and work. Everything seems to take so much effort. I was really bogged down for a while and turned to coffee and donuts of all things. I am now back on track with the minor slip up here and there. Progress is progress, I suppose.

Differential goal for week: -3500 Calories to burn for week: *** So far I have a +702 differential for the week. I did well last month on my Spending diet. I stayed well within my extremely tight budget and cut out the extras. I set up an even tighter budget this month since I am not getting as much money this month but went too far. I started spending money on crap; Ice cream, coffee, pizza, donuts, and Chinese food. Notice these are double whammies. Not only am I spending money on non-essentials, but am spending them on crap that will d... Wed, 18 Jun 2014 21:22:29 EST BLC 25 Week 6 Fitness Tests 363 One mile walk. I was finally able to do this and got 17 mins and 18 seconds. I went half way and then started jogging a little bit but not enough to get winded. I did the test last time in 16 mins and 51 secs but I know I was running the first half as well and I was definitely winded often in the process.

How about you? Do you only walk? Do a walk/jog? or run and try for the fastest time possible?

320 Push up test I did 18. I did 2... Wed, 11 Jun 2014 14:46:16 EST Week 5 of the BLC 25 CICO and challenges Last week I actually did well with my water for a change 274 250 . I am pretty proud of that. I also did well with my nutritional goals 551 250 and exercise 362 250 . I did not meet the differential goal of 3500 cals. I need to find better ways to cut the sugar 287 . I put the time in. I definitely want the results and I will not do that if I am busting the limits of my nutritional target all the time. <... Fri, 30 May 2014 09:42:25 EST So bummed that my beloved tracker no longer works. The theme of this week is tracking. I am a data type person and love looking at the numbers. I like to see improvement. Last summer and the summer before I really enjoyed the Runkeeper app on my IPhone. It uses GPS to track your movement, incline, pace, distance, and time. I LOVE the app. I track my distance in there. My Runkeeper account can be accessed on the computer and through the app so I can also track my workouts at the gym.

Since my 3G IPhone was getting old and t... Wed, 21 May 2014 20:01:08 EST Week 4 of the BLC 25 CICO and challenges This last week seemed quite hard adjusting to working nights again. I get super hungry 4 with schedule changes and when there is lack of sleep added to the mix 102 , I make horrible choices 287 . This has become a problem this last week. I don't think that I should not have a treat once in a while. When I have a treat, I want to enjoy it. I don't want to eat treats when I am half asleep and too hungry to slow down.

My focus for last week was... Wed, 21 May 2014 11:32:28 EST May spending diet I am doing a challenge I saw on Pinterest sometime last year which is to do a full month without spending. 440 There is the exception of the necessary bills and minimal groceries and gas. It had been going really well. 224

Yesterday was the first day I spent any money other than groceries and gas. I spent $8 in library fees that I owed yesterday and $1.87 for cough drops for Lavinia this morning.
One thing that really helped was tracking money saved... Thu, 15 May 2014 15:05:35 EST Week 3 of the BLC 25 CICO and challenges Last week I was working on my nutritional targets 551 by pretracking food, reducing coffee intake 106 , and having green smoothies 368 . I did not pretrack as planned or reduce coffee intake but did have green smoothies.

I did not meet my nutritional targets this week but I did two days and was close another one. I only had one day that my CICO was a positive number. I did not feel like I was starving 24/7 and for the most part kept the bingemo... Wed, 14 May 2014 20:18:13 EST BLC 25 Week 2 CICO and challenges My focus for last week was to get at least 7 hours sleep 102 because stupid happens when I am tired and I was working nights. I am now back to days and am not as concerned about getting enough sleep.

This last week I was HUNGRY. Very hungry. 4 I was over my nutritional target even though I was not under my protein or carb targets. There were two days of high fat foods 483 473 and I did not have the self control to limit my portion... Wed, 7 May 2014 11:06:10 EST BLC 25 Fitness test I am just hopeless at these fitness tests. I did read the directions before doing the tests but am not sure I did most of them accurately.

363 The first test I did was the 1 mile walk which I did in 16 mins and 51 seconds. I was not overly thrilled about this result since I spent all winter on the treadmill. Boo. Then I looked at this result last September and I did 18 mins and 4 secs. I am quite pleased to see progress. Also it nearly winded me getting to the loc... Mon, 5 May 2014 23:04:45 EST BLC 25 Goals This BLC my goals are to lose 12 lbs 192 and train for the Color Run in July 364 . To do this I will exercise 5 times/week 324 , stay within nutritional goals 551 , and drink water 274 .

I started a reward for those three goals toward the end of the last BLC and will continue on in this one. Sat, 3 May 2014 07:44:56 EST BLC 25 Week 1 CICO and challenges This week the BLC25 has started. I kind of went on a little crazy over Easter weekend and it’s taking me a bit to get back on track. The weigh in and measurements are done, I will be doing the fitness test tomorrow on my day off. I will also be doing a spending diet. I will not spend any money, except for essential items. Tue, 1 Apr 2014 17:24:10 EST I think I have the winter blues. You heard me, I said winter and not spring. I am really sick of looking out the window and seeing 6 foot snowbanks. I want to put my winter jacket away and get out my spring one but I just don’t see that happening anytime soon. Last week we had quite the storm. I missed 2 days of work and Lavinia had three snow days. The internet, phone, and power was out. I did have time to exercise but instead read and played cards. This week we have more snow in the forecast as well. My problem is j... Sun, 16 Mar 2014 19:12:14 EST What is this holding me back? I am currently struggling with setting 240 free. I was around 235 when I meet Danny after losing about 30 lbs. That was as low as I got because I laid aside my goal of losing weight in the relationship. I have been down to 240 before while going to school, only to gain it back during stressful practicums. My challenge now is to push past 240 and get to 230. As hard as I try, I still seem to find 240 back on the scale – even if it is not weigh in day. Is there an emotional element pullin... Mon, 24 Feb 2014 22:18:08 EST Week 6 of the BLC CICO and challenges This week was one heck of a week. I completely crashed and burned. I am still getting used to working days and recovering from working evenings. Let's just say shift work sucks and leave it at that. I did not exercise and just fizzled out. This is totally doable.

Differential goa... Mon, 24 Feb 2014 21:35:52 EST Reaching Week 5 goals and Book club dilemma Today is the last day of Week 5 of the BLC. I am pretty excited about my WI tomorrow. I did really well on my goals this week and worked very hard through the challenges. I only have 1 glass of water to drink today so that of course will happen and I will drink at least 6. I also have a caloric deficit of a little over -400 for today which I will do. The only thing I need to work on is being within target with my sodium today and I will have made all my goals.

This morning o... I am now exactly the same weight as I was two weeks ago. I did really well with my CICO until last night. I had an earlier morning than usual and did not do a workout. When I came home, there was lots of food laid out for me and I ate. I had planned 350-600 cals for dinner and ate over 1000. I’m sure that did not help. Today I had to go to town to weigh in at work for our Biggest Loser Challenge there. Since I had to go in, I went to the gym. I just took it easy on the treadmill and kept my pace consistant but still broke a sweat. I then did some stretching, went on the stationary bike and then stretched some more. Since I wasn’t in a rush to get to work as usual, I was able to spend a lot of time in the sauna. What a difference. It was a really good time today. ...
