It seems like things go ok fr a few days, then I find taco bell wrappers in the trash, or one of them lets it slip that they had a midnight hamburger snack.... And from horrible fast food places. I think the two of them bond over being buddy buddy keeping secrets from mom a bt too much. Today I get home all ready to make chicken provincial and find that they order a pizza for a sn... I will try the potato thing later, after I get a little closer to my goal. I think I had poor timing, being only 2 weeks into one type of eating, then switching to another completely way. Live and learn. <BR> <BR> I was going to experiment with making some low carb bread today, but when I was at fresh and easy they had the mahlers brand one carb flax bread!!... Sun, 10 Feb 2013 19:06:15 EST I LOVE KETOSIS! I knew I was in ketosis before I even peed on my ketoskix this morning! I woke up with that strange energy, a few minuted before the alarm went off. I have a nice warm happy feeling. I am in a good mood... and I am making a big huge tri tip for dinner! (Maybe I am just looking forward to dinner....) It is a busy busy day at work today.... got a huge truckload of supplies that I have to inventory and put away. And untangle ten tons of work orders! Fun. It is quite cold in the wareho... I ate too much, but tried to keep it half way low carb.... my hubby brought home pizza and I had one piece (but only ONE) and I ate some bread sticks, 2 actually. I drank lots of beer, though. However, I had PLANNED on this, as though it was a holiday and I do not feel too bad. The scale yelled at me though, it wants to know why I am 3 pounds FATTER!? Well, I started off this week very positive, and indeed I have been very good on my eating habits. I repeat, my EATING habits. However, I have been nipping at vodka tonics every night. I just get SO stressed the second I walk in the door after work and feel ENTITLED to a drink or 4! Entitlement is an extremely bad habit. Wed, 30 Jan 2013 13:53:48 EST Shame! Does anyone else experience shame when adding BAD food into their nutritional tracker? <BR> <BR> I was taken out to restaurants twice today! Denny's with my boss.... I got a Santa fe skillet, the picture looked pretty healthy. But there were lots of potatoes in it. I ate half of it. (the other half is calling my name from the fridge). <BR> <BR> Then my hubby took me to a Mexican restaurant, Casa de Vega.... Oooohhh they have such good food! I drank alcohol (just some vodka, no fat) and I added a teeny spray of cooking oil into the pan the few times I fried them. <BR> <BR> And I gained a pound. <BR> <BR> So..... I am eating nothing but potatoes for 3 or 4 days. Many people have lost a lot of weight doing this and I like potatoes, so it's worth a try. I did great yesterday and had a lot of energy, mowed and did yard work, vacuumed, etc..... So now I have a bunch of taters boiling away and will make more later to bring to work. Fri, 18 Jan 2013 13:15:44 EST Mixing things up a bit.... Well, I am happy to say that SOME of the mysterious 4 pounds went away! About 1.5. <BR> <BR> I am going to try something, just to see what happens. I have been reading about intermittent fasting and am going to try the "Up day, down day" way of eating for a while. Every other day I will keep my calories under 500. The up days will be normal eating days, but still low carb. The health benefits look super! And weight loss should speed up, if I am lucky. I was down to 177 yesterday and this morning the evil scale said 181! Noooooo..... HOW on EARTH could 4 pounds have appeared overnight?? So, this morning I decided to take all of my measurements again. The ones that I log into my spark chart were alright, I guess. I lost an inch in my thighs, a half inch on the hips, half an inch at my waist. However, the one that is doesn't really ask for is my big fat gut! Right at my belly button..... And guess what?? I lost FIVE freaking inches from that big fat gut of mine!! That is my super horrible trouble spot, always has been. I am ashamed to say that I have been asked twice ... Sun, 13 Jan 2013 11:18:38 EST Finally Friday! Well I made it through the week!!! I didn't lose as much as I wanted, but anything is better than nothing. I managed to not buy lunch or breakfast since Jan 1st, so as I lose weight, maybe my bank account will gain weight! I am feeling very good about myself right now, because I had gotten so low there for a while that I was convinced I would not even try to diet again, I was almost resigned to just giving in and eating my way to supposed happiness (that was obviously my stomach talking!) ... Fri, 11 Jan 2013 18:53:39 EST Strange side effect? For the past couple of days I have noticed a strange side effect from low carbing. My sense of smell seems to have amplified a LOT! I made spaghetti sauce (regular recipe that I always make) and the smell of garlic almost knocked me over! My younger boy ate his in his room and this morning I almost gagged when I went in to wake him up, it smelled so garlicy! Funny thing, nobody else noticed. And I LOVE garlic! Strange. This morning I woke up one minute before the alarm went off and I snuck quietly out of bed right away (I had to sneak or else my 4 Boston terriers might wake up and all want to go out) and felt strangely freakishly happy, which is a strange feeling to have within seconds of waking up! I think it may be some of my old energy coming back, and maybe my body is so happy at the way I am feeding it that it is pouring over into my emotions.... I successfully made it one week not only without cheating on carbs, but without drinking any alcohol!!! And I was reasonably nice to my family.... for the most part. I have to say that I am a little bit disappointed in my weight loss though. I only lost 2.5 pounds, while the last time I was on induction I lost 7 pounds!
