I have so much going on in my life, something has to give or my head will explode! I cannot work 60 hours a week, commute, manage 23 rental properties and maintain my relationships with friends and family while training for a marathon.

Additionally, I worked so hard for my BQ last year and it was so demoralizing to not get into Boston during registration. All the hard work... Why is CVS, a pharmacy, selling JUNK FOOD?! Creating a recurring customer base? Buy the junk in the front of the store and you're guaranteed a repeat customer at the pharmacy? Seriously, there is a conflict of interest there!

2. Where is this elderly woman getting her nutrition?? I am going to assume for a mi... Fri, 6 Sep 2013 13:45:06 EST Dreading.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5474830 ....my upcoming vacation. Anyone else feel this way?? I feel like it's so much LESS stressful to be home and on top of things... being away, disconnected, not able to CONTROL what's happening is just incredibly unnerving and stressful to me. And to think I am PAYING to feel this way! UGH! First world problems, huh?! :D Oh well, I am taking one for the team, I guess.... Tue, 3 Sep 2013 16:33:13 EST Focusing on the Positive http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5454215 I must have started and deleted a blog update so many times over the past several weeks... I have SO MUCH going on! Some good, some not so good. At any rate, given that the majority of what's going on has to do with my personal and professional life (as opposed to fitness) I have decided to keep it to myself for now and not put it "out" there.

Sorry, I know that's a tease. But suffice to say that I am still at work, I still have my BIG PLAN in action, albeit slightly delayed, and ... Tue, 13 Aug 2013 16:52:54 EST This is Why We're Fat http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5438769 Love that website!

Anyway, I'm still at work, unfortunately (that's the subject of a whole other very frustrating blog that I don't have patience to write right now). We're back to working LONG hours. My boss has been ordering us lunch every day, which is nice, I guess. I'd rather have 20 minutes to go outside, see the sun and run some errands, but I suppose if I must be chained to my desk, it softens the blow to have the company pay for lunch. I usually order a salad from whatever... Wed, 1 May 2013 18:13:41 EST Needing Advice, Once Again! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5310090 Actually needing 2 pieces of advice.

#1 - I have ended my IT band treatments at the chiro. It's not getting better (although not getting worse, so there's that). He told me to keep running, rolling, stretching and doing exercises for my glutes, so that's what I'm doing. I ran 8 miles on Good Friday, 9 on Easter Sunday and have been at 5-7 every day this week. It's bothersome but not painful. It's now like almost every other ache and pain that I have to deal with. GRR! It definitely... Wed, 3 Apr 2013 11:49:51 EST Feeling Like a Fraud. A Frustrated Fraud http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5288671 It's been 7 weeks since the marathon and 6 weeks since my IT band started giving me trouble. I am SO FRUSTRATED! I am rolling, stretching and icing multiple times a day. I am doing exercises to strengthen my glutes. I am seeing the chiropractor at least once a week for e-stim, stretching, ultrasound and graston. NO PROGRESS AT ALL! I am starting to think I will never be able to run pain free again. It's so depressing seeing other people out running, or driving or walking through my old runnin... I am being super diligent about seeing the chiro, following his orders (which includes running - it is doctor sanctioned!), rolling, stretching and icing all throughout the day, but the pain is definitely NOT improving. I am just worried that this won't resolve and my running days are over. Figures - I finally qualify for Boston and won't be able to run it! The good news is that things are going VERY well in that department and I feel so super positive about my future for the first time in a long time! There is light at the end of the tunnel!

The bad news is that my IT band is definitely giving my problems. I just pored through my old blogs to see how long it took the chiro to fix it last time. Seems like it was about 2 weeks or so.
... Thu, 21 Feb 2013 18:47:33 EST Recovery! And a Rant! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5242603 I felt surprisingly good after the marathon. I did some easy walking on Monday and Tuesday, and by Wednesday, I was ready for a short run of just under 2 miles. I ran again on Thursday and Friday. Saturday, I had a massage, which felt like HEAVEN!

So, of course, I had to go and do something dumb by running TEN MILES on Sunday. Why not? I mean, I ran more than double that amount just a week ago, right? Hehe. My left IT band started bugging me towards the end of the run, so I rollll... Fri, 8 Feb 2013 09:38:02 EST Qualifying for Boston with One Second to Spare! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5227363 Although I have been running regularly since 1996, I never thought I could run a marathon, let alone qualify for Boston. I didn’t want to ruin my enjoyment of running with a lot of rules and goals and stress. As all runners know, 90% of running is mental, and as more and more of my Sparkfriends were running and ENJOYING marathons, I thought I might be ready to give it a shot. I ran my first marathon in January 2010, and while it wasn’t the best experience ever, I was hooked! I still maintaine... Mon, 28 Jan 2013 15:12:35 EST Taper, Taper, TAPER! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5217192 Still loving it!

Ran 4x 6 miles last week and then a "long" run of 12 miles on Saturday AM. It took my legs a little while to warm up, but over the second half, I averaged my marathon goal pace, so that made me feel pretty confident.

Sunday I ran 4 easy miles and I was NOT feeling it! It definitely takes me a while to warm up, so short runs are usually disappointing to me. But, it did leave me with a lot of free time for the rest of the day! I spent it staining this woo... Mon, 21 Jan 2013 14:45:02 EST Tapering and LOVING IT! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5208844 My marathon is at the end of January. I usually start training for it at the beginning of October, and since I'm totally lazy and hate to "lose" fitness after I've worked so hard for it, I never really let up on the mileage during the year. So, for me, "starting training" means that I start doing a long run every weekend of 16, 18 or 20 miles, versus a long run every weekend of 12 or 14 miles.

This year, I thought I would run the marathon of the Palm Beaches in early December as a ... Tue, 15 Jan 2013 18:33:17 EST Running Around With a Bunch of Nudists http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5193493 I ran in the afternoon today (more on that in a bit). My favorite 10 mile loop takes me through a park that has a nude beach. There are mangroves and vegetation that mostly protect the nude beach from the running/biking path, although sometimes I do get an eyeful!

Anyway, as I was heading into the park this afternoon, a couple caught up with me, so we were chatting and running. As it turns out, their M.O. is to run up to the nude beach, strip down to let their running clothes dry o... Sun, 6 Jan 2013 17:21:08 EST On To A NEW and EXCITING Year! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5187816 2012 ended with both good and bad things. On the POSITIVE, I blasted through my 2,012 in 2012 mileage goal and ended up with 2,065 miles! Mostly uninjured, healthy miles. I joined the 2,013 in 2013 team and I am hoping to blow that goal away - 2012 had a number of "incidents" related to work, our move and illness that caused me to have some very low mileage months.

On the NEGATIVE, Larry and I had a HUGE headbutt over my running. Basically, on two ocassions last week, I headed out ... Thu, 3 Jan 2013 09:41:00 EST I DID IT!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5175226 I made my goal of 2,012 miles in 2012! Before the weekend, I was only 31 miles away. Saturday was forecasted to be cold, for Florida, so I figured I would have no problem getting in 20 or 21 miles and then following it up on Sunday with a run of whatever distance was left over!

Saturday morning was 46 degrees and windy, so I wore capri tights and a long sleeve tech shirt. I ran south to the boardwalk with the wind mostly at my back. Once on the boardwalk, I ran into my friend Tammy... Mon, 24 Dec 2012 13:52:01 EST Life is Really Short http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5168031 Ugh, this was not a good week at all.

Monday night, Larry and I got into a HUGE fight! Our friend, J, is getting married in July. In Anguilla. The most expensive island in the Caribbean. J is really Larry's friend back when he was a dot com millionaire in San Francisco in the '90's. I like J well enough, but it's not like she would be friends with me if it weren't for Larry. She and her fiancee are really wealthy investment bankers and all of their friends are as well. So, I'm not... Sun, 16 Dec 2012 11:05:10 EST Catching Up http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5160253 Wow, have I been busy! Here's what's been going on:

Thanksgiving - it was great but stressful. We worked super hard to get the house ready for my parents and it paid off because all of the rooms were useable and everyone was comfortable for the 3 days they stayed with us. But sooooo stressful to manage my parents and Larry! One of the great things about not being married to Larry is that when I go to Arizona to visit them.... I can go alone! It's just too hard to try to anticipate ... Sat, 8 Dec 2012 13:49:13 EST Latin Music Half Marathon - Race Report http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5141515 On Sunday, I ran the St. Jude's Latin Music Half Marathon. This is a "Rock n Roll" race, but since it's in Miami, they give it a Latin flair!

Last year was the first year they held it, and I ran it with Dana, Suezette and Sueann - always fun to meet up with Sparkies! This year, they moved it from December to November and I ran it solo.

Since they moved it up, I planned on making it part of my long run instead of part of a mileage cut back week. I already knew that it was... Tue, 20 Nov 2012 12:26:28 EST Week 45 - What's Been Going On? I know it's extremely lame to set a goal so close to the end of year, but it's still a challenge for me. As of October 31, I needed 393 miles to get to 2,012 miles, so just under 200 per month - an amount that will definitely require some disciplin... Since we don't live in NJ, this would be a weekend away. He went back and forth on whether he wanted to go.

Last night, when I got home from work, he said he was definitely going and asked if I wanted to go - apparently, the "guys only" thing fell apart and it's just more of a general get together.

SO! Kinda funny because this time last year, I was getting rained on in Seattle! So it was just as wet, but about 30 degrees warmer!

Anyway, the running was great this week, and I only skipped one workout - my jungle gym session on Tuesday because I was at work till 11pm on Monday. Whatever! Not going to get upset about it, esp. since I left at... Sun, 24 Jun 2012 14:15:50 EST Week 24 - Fantastical Fruit! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4930300 Running Miles - 40 (842.9YTD)

Strength Training
3 upper body
2 lower body
3 core

Nothing overly exciting to report this week. Work was work, long and irritating but I am so beaten down at this point, it has ceased to be a concern anymore.

The running was good - long run on Saturday of 14 miles, so I am working my way back to fighting form. Managed to get in all of my jungle gym workouts and the only mishap involved my elbow and a cactus pla... Sun, 17 Jun 2012 16:05:34 EST Week 23 - RESET! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4920364 Running Miles - 35 (802.9YTD)

Strength Training
0 upper body
1 lower body
1 core

Wow, what a mess this week was! After my fall on Monday, I had a brief session on the Jungle Gym on Tuesday. There was not much I could do as I had zero mobility on my right arm. So, I did some core work and lower body stuff. I took Wednesday as a total rest day as I spent most of Tuesday feeling like I had been run over by a truck.

By Thursday, I was ready to ... Sun, 10 Jun 2012 16:30:01 EST Beaten Down, But Not Totally Broken http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4913280 Ugh, Sparkfriends, I am in BAD shape today.

Saturday night, we had not one but two social events to attend. I am not a social peson and socializing drains me. We stayed out WAY too late and I took Sunday as a day to chill out and regroup.

Monday, I was looking forward to my 10 mile run, but about a quarter of a mile into it, I tripped and fell HARD! Of course, I popped right up and continued running, although it was a long and unenjoyable slog. At first, it seemed as th... I got a wonderful respite from work with THREE days off. In a row! WHOHOO!!!! I started the week off right on Sunday with a 5 mile run, a session on the Jungle Gym and then a dip in the ocean! Just to be clear, there was no swimming involved, just floating around!

We had a bunch of ove... Sat, 2 Jun 2012 16:01:35 EST Week 21 - Nothing New or Exciting http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4898738 Running Miles - 42.5 (720.6 YTD)

Strength Training
2 upper body
1 lower body
2 core

Ugh, what a week. I am getting sooooooo tired of the long hours at work. Every run this week, except for this morning's long run, was totally cruddy. I think it's a combination of 2 back to back races with not very much rest afterwards, along with not getting enough sleep during the week. Most nights, I am home between 9 and 10pm and in order to get a run in, I have to ... Sat, 26 May 2012 11:16:18 EST Week 20 - Perception v Reality http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4888787 Running Miles - 44 (678.1 YTD)

Strength Training
3 upper body
2 lower body
3 core

Busy week for me! The 10k on Saturday didn't really slow me down too much - that's what's so nice about a 10k - you can go full out and still be able to walk! By Monday, my legs were pretty tired though, so I was glad to have a jungle gym only day on Tuesday.

Unfortunately, Tuesday was a frustrating day for me. My boss asked me to come in early to prepare som... Sat, 19 May 2012 17:11:51 EST Week 19 - ALS Recovery 10k http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4878653 Running Miles - 36.2 (634.1 YTD)

Strength Training
2 upper body
2 lower body
2 core

Had a decent week - work wasn't tooo out of control crazy, so I got in decent mileage - 2-5 milers and 2-10 milers before the weekend, along with 2 good jungle gym sessions. I was debating all week if I wanted to try to PR at the 10k or go for decent mileage and decent mileage won out, especially since I saw on Facebook that my nemesis would be running the 10k. My big ... Sat, 12 May 2012 19:51:11 EST Week 18 - Killing Time Between Races http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4868917 Running Miles - 33.1 (597.9 YTD)

Strength Training
1 upper body
1 lower body
1 core

I took it easy this week - I was a little sore from the HM in the early part of the week, and by the end of the week, I was feeling feverish, so it was a good week to work on "recovery". Work wasn't toooo crazy, so I actually got decent sleep in! YAY!

This week should also be quiet - I have a 10k on Saturday and I would like to try to PR. I think my PR is 44... Sun, 6 May 2012 13:22:23 EST KB Inaugural Half Marathon Starring GLADGAD & MBSHAZZER http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4861715 I live in South Florida and most races here take place from November - March due to the weather. There may be the odd 5k in the summer, but nothing longer than that.

Several months ago, I saw a promotion for this inaugural half marathon on Key Biscayne and I jumped at the chance to a) run another HM in the late spring (esp. since heat and humidity don't bother me) and b) return to where it all began (subject of the last blog).

When my Spark buddy Carolyn (GLADGAD) mentio...
