Haven't spent much time on SparkPeople lately because I've been busy getting our family ready for our newest addition. We are adopting a 5 year old girl. This weekend was her second time spending the night at our home. We will do this a few more weekends until she is comfortable with us and her new surroundings. It is a very exciting time. We took her to the zoo today. It was her first time there and she really enjoyed herself. I can't wait to take her in the summer w... Sat, 1 Feb 2014 21:53:00 EST 2014 Here I Come http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5578255 So I let emotional eating get the best of me in 2013. Well that ship has sailed. Looking forward to healthy eating and getting a lot more active in 2014. I've signed up for a 5K in April to keep myself motivated.

Love to all my SparkFriends. Let's make it a great year!!
381
Wed, 1 Jan 2014 16:54:58 EST Exercise Time http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5495849 I put some weight back on after being stressed out by my job last year. It got so stressful that I just had to quit. This year I will be substitute teaching which I haven't done in years. It is nice to have some free time. Luckily this also means that I have exercise time. I'm really excited about this. Looking forward to knocking those numbers back down on the scale. I have a tendancy to go out of my way to help others even when I am stretched out too thin. It is hard to do but I am liking the less stress outcome. So here is hoping I stick with it.

We had our 14th annual Halloween party last weekend. Our last party I might add. It is another thing that I am saying no to -- it takes me weeks to setup and then a week to clean up after so I'm having to decide to cut that out of my life.
<im... I've been one since I was a baby. Mornings are tough on me but I'm vowing to get exercise back in my life. Mornings seem to be the only time to squeeze it into my schedule. So I started with baby steps this week. I got up a little early and was able to do 10+ minutes of cardio before heading out to work. This morning I didn't have to work so I got 30 minutes in before family obligations. I do my strength training in the evenings... Still trying to find work/life balance since going back to work full time this fall. The job has been good for me as far as eating because I'm so busy in the classroom there is no time for mindless snacking. I have to pack my lunches each night and I make sure the choices are healthy. The sad thing is I haven't gotten back into my exercise routine and the pounds crept back on.

I've decided not to jump back in... I worked with LD/EBD/ASD kids these last two weeks and I don't think I've been this tired in a long time.

Because my brain is a little fried I will copy a question list that was on a SparkFriend's page.

A) Age: 39

B) Boo... If I don't make it to the gym, you'd think I would exercise at home. I haven't. We have a treadmill and exercise bike in the basement plus numerous exercise DVD's. I used those things to lose the 70+ pounds before I got a gym membership. Why the he... Sat, 28 Nov 2009 21:20:15 EST Face-to-Face SparkFriends http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2582061 Over the last year, I've had the opportunity to meet SparkFriends face to face at the SparkMinneapolis/St. Paul team SparkRallies. It is really neat to put a live face and personality to a SparkID.

On Friday, I had the opportunity to meet HOCKEY47 who is from Vancouver, Canada. She was in town for her daughter's hockey tournament. It was her first visit to Minnesota so she visited the Mall of America. She was very happy to learn that Minnesota doesn't have sales tax on clothi... Mon, 23 Nov 2009 00:15:13 EST Co-Leading a Great Team http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2567379 I've been co-leading the SparkMinneapolis / St. Paul team for almost two years. If you've been on the team long enough you will remember it used to be called the "Twin Cities Sparkers." Being a co-leader was probably one of the best things to happen to me. It helped me really focus in on what motivates people and what motivates myself. I wanted to lead by example so I was sure to be drinking my water, doing my cardio and ST. So I credit being a co-leader to helping me to lose 78 pounds. ... Mon, 16 Nov 2009 22:32:18 EST Day #2 at the Gym http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2556634 231
Today, I wrote down my strength training rotation so I can enter it here into SP's fitness tracker. In case anyone is curious here it is--

I do three rotations of each of these machines doing 10 reps each set. On each rotation I increase the weight so that is why you'll see three weights listed for each machine.

Seated Leg Press
Weight: 50, 60, 70 pounds

Seated Leg Curl
Weight: 30, 35, 40

Chest Press
Weight: 10... Thu, 12 Nov 2009 16:31:21 EST It Has Been Awhile http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2552969 I haven't had a gym membership in over 10 years. So it was pretty exciting to start up at Anytime Fitness yesterday. I met with the trainer and he went through all the machines with me and put together a schedule of what I should be working on with various amounts of weight and reps. My sheet is at the gym. I'll have to copy it all down tomorrow so I can enter everything into the fitness tracker here on SP.

Today I'm feeling really good - just a touch sore in the legs and abs. ... Wed, 11 Nov 2009 11:05:26 EST Time to Focus (and a new username) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2524963 For the past couple weeks I have been pondering a new Spark username. When I first started using this site, READY-TO-WIN was just right because I wanted to win over the hold my weight had on me. I wanted to win by getting the scale moving in a downward direction. And guess what? I did! Thanks to SP, and all the super fantastic friends I've made here, I've lost 78 pounds and started running. I'd call that a win.

Now I've been slacking a bit since August so I need to get back ... Sun, 1 Nov 2009 15:45:20 EST SparkMpls/St. Paul Oct. Como Lake SparkRally http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2489430 62 degrees and sunny - how fantastic!! Now some of you - especially those from a warmer climate - might think I'm out of my mind. What you have to understand is that this is Minnesota. It has snowed three times already this month so we are definitely celebrating the "warm" temps this weekend.

I posted the SparkRally at the last minute on Friday because I thought we better take advantage of this wonderful weekend weather (next weekend is supposed to be rainy). A big THANK YOU to... Sun, 18 Oct 2009 22:58:04 EST Oct 10th - Walking in a Winter Wonderland??? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2468173 When I originally signed up for the Historic Riverfront 5K Run/Walk, I thought it was going to be soooo beautiful by the river with the leaves changing. As the date grew closer the weather forecast wasn't sounding so wonderful. A quick peek out the window this morning revealed snow on the ground. Yikes! How can this happen so early in October?

Thank goodness I had pre-registered for the event otherwise I would have backed out. I wanted that long sleeve T-shirt though so it w... Hyland Park SparkRally http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2433556 67
71 degrees, sunshine and a light breeze delighted us this afternoon at our SparkMinneapolis/St. Paul September SparkRally at Hyland Lake Park Reserve in Bloomington. It was awesome!

We introduced ourselves and I passed out goodie bags. The goodie bags contained an article on healthy snacking, a bottle of Dasani water, a Kashi TLC chewy trail mix bar and an Archer Farms organic strawberry fruit strip. Hope everyone enjoyed their healthy snacks! Next we took a ... Sun, 27 Sep 2009 20:36:54 EST
