Tue, 20 Mar 2018 06:17:10 EST Spark blog 1/1/2018 Wishing all my fellow Sparkers a very Happy and Prosperous new year! Mon, 1 Jan 2018 21:09:26 EST SparkBlog 12/24/17 Hoping all my Sparkfriends are in good spirits and ready for tomorrow. I "almost" am. That is what today is for! I'm doing my 'wrapping' and heading for a relative's house this afternoon.

I had last week off. I did things and got to the pool a couple times, which is good since I usually go on the weekend, and I didn't get there this time.

My cousin is very ill and in the hospital. I got a long walk in yesterday trying to get to her room from an outdoor parking area...... Sun, 24 Dec 2017 12:11:26 EST Sparkblog 1/2/2017 Happy New Year! Another year is past and it's time to look forward to this year. Yesterday I went to the Y and worked out in the pool for 90 minutes. It was Not crowded at all, I figure that the usual January crowd will be rolling in pretty soon, though. It is always more crowded in January, from my experience.

A couple years ago I had a kitty that was so energetic that he leaped on a high chest of drawers and onto my bird cage, which set my little zebra finch loose. It took a while but I got the... Mon, 2 Jan 2017 17:16:24 EST Sparkblog 12/24/16 Just a quick blog to say, Have a wonderful Christmas or your holiday of choice!

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 15:01:23 EST SparkBlog 11/27/16 Heating the house. I was determined not to turn my heat on until December. It has been pretty cold this past few days, down to the 30's overnight. I think it won't be too much longer before I call Duke energy to come out and turn the gas on! I have them turn it off in the early spring because they charge a fee to have it hooked up, even if it is not being used. This fee was 25 dollars/ month, but that has gone up and is now maybe 35 dollars/month. I will have to wear socks to keep my feet warm until I get them... Sun, 27 Nov 2016 13:29:03 EST Sparkblog August 20, 2016 I love summer, but even though it's still August it feels like summer is almost over. It is probably because the schools are back in session and it just seems like going back to school means summer is over. Back to the daily routine of getting a child up early and getting him off to school. Summer ended much too soon for him and me. Sat, 20 Aug 2016 15:52:58 EST Sparkblog 3/6/16 'counters' Long ago I got a 'step counter' that you would clip on the waistband of your pants. First you had to mark a 5 foot area (maybe 6, I forget) and then walk normally and count how many steps you took. You then had to somehow input that into the counter so that it would correctly count your steps. Bam! I did that and then clipped the counter on my waist. I hadn't used it a week before I used the bathroom and in the processing of pulling down my pants... you guessed it, it fell right in the toilet... Sun, 6 Mar 2016 21:27:28 EST SparkBlog 1/02/2016 Hi Sparkpeeps! I was on 'vacation' all this past week. I set out to clear off my dining room table - I don't know about you but it just accumulates various objects. I started slow but I not only did that, I also rearranged and cleaned my living and dining room area. It looks much better now! I have to go back to work Monday, so I going to do as much as I can to put things away and maintain a clear living space. It helps mentally somehow. I have been water walk/jogging every other day and I st... Sat, 2 Jan 2016 12:40:34 EST Sparkblog Sunday Dec 20, 2015. Oh no! Christmas has snuck up on me again! (I know, I only had all year to prepare). I do have my tree up, my cards bought (and stamps) and a big bow on the front door. I guess that is my outdoor decorations this year. It looks like I'll be giving out gift cards this year!

This past week I had the kitten I rescued spayed, and I have been walking the dog every morning! I have been eating more salads and have made it to the pool a couple times! In fact, after I get off here I am he... Sun, 20 Dec 2015 16:32:35 EST Sparkblog Sat Oct 17 I'm a little short on energy today. I did go to the pool last night after work and put in 2 hours. I think I need to do that more often! Thu, 8 Oct 2015 20:38:37 EST Spark Blog October 2015 It's Sunday and I am preparing for the week ahead. I did some shopping yesterday and will do just a tiny bit more today, because I always seem to forget an item or two! I used to be better at keeping lists, maybe I need to start using them again!

Have a good week all! Sun, 4 Oct 2015 13:50:09 EST New week - feeling great! The sun is out and the weekend has been a good one. I made it to the Y to swim and have been keeping up on some reading. Hope all is well for you! Sun, 20 Sep 2015 10:04:56 EST Countdown to vacation I'm on vacation from work for 2 weeks, with a trip to Canada (Montreal) in the works for the upcoming weekend and days surrounding it. Woo hoo! Mon, 27 Jul 2015 09:36:00 EST News said, "We predict the coldest winter ever!" It was like spring out there this past weekend. Beautiful sunshine and warm (in comparison). I'm not really complaining - just making a note that sometimes the weather does not follow the news. Mon, 19 Jan 2015 21:25:14 EST It's Sunday evening already? Weekends seem much too short! And I have to work on MLK day. Oh well, I'm glad to be working. Have a great week everyone! He is a vegetarian, but eats fish so we had salmon with crab stuffing, mussels, corn chowder, colcannon and pumpkin pie and cheese cake for dessert. It was yummy! . I didn't drink as much water as I should have, I guess I don't like the way it tasted in Maryland.

We visited the National Aquarium in Baltimore. It was really crowded. They had a dolphin show, which was great! I took this picture:

<img src="http... Mon, 2 Dec 2013 14:01:09 EST 272 point to go. . I will reach Level 17 in a few more days. Whoo hoo! Tue, 4 Jun 2013 15:00:30 EST 100 days in a row I have hit 100 days in a row
!

244 javascript: void(0); Wed, 27 Mar 2013 22:12:13 EST So far so good! Well, it's March and we are having the biggest winter storm of the season,,, (I think we need a new groundhog). Anyway, before the snowfall causes my internet to go out (frequent occurrence in rain/snow situations) I thought I'd take a moment to post.

I have been much more active this year, walking the dog and going to the Y to swim mostly. I swam Sunday and Monday but stayed home tonight - snow is pouring down outside. I have been working from home and putting in more hours on a... Tue, 5 Mar 2013 20:43:44 EST I have a Happy Dog I started working from home on Monday and have gotten out and walked him at lunchtime every day so far. He really loves to get that exercise,,, and so do I! Thu, 10 Jan 2013 12:41:41 EST Happy New Year! I got up early and made my kraut, sausage and potato's in one of the slow cookers and made lentils with onion and pork chops in the other. I am optimistic about this coming year! I have been given the opportunity to work full time from home, so one of my goals is to be able to make it to water fitness classes a couple evenings a week (before I couldn't get there because of my commute back from work). I will be able to walk my dog when I take a break, so he will be happy too!
Tue, 1 Jan 2013 13:33:04 EST Summer coming around again... I look forward to not having to wake kids up and help them dress to get to school. It will just be me getting up and getting off to work for 2+ months. Yeah! Mon, 28 May 2012 00:18:26 EST Hello Autumn The trees are changing colors and even though it has been warm this past couple days, I know that ole man winter is heading this way. I am back at work now, infection healed. I am working on walking without a cane. I have not been using it this past week or so. At first my hip and knee hurt, but slowly they are starting to feel better.

That's my update! Sat, 8 Oct 2011 21:24:25 EST First week of summer vacation for the kids I am working from home still dealing with my incision infection and now there are kids underfoot. I tried to be very quiet to keep them asleep as long as possible, but they are up now. C'est la vie! Mon, 6 Jun 2011 13:19:49 EST Saturday = Soccer Day Its actually soccer weekend! Kids playing soccer - Whoo HOO! Sat, 19 Mar 2011 06:57:21 EST makes you stronger since it didn't kill you Well I went swimming as soon as the Dr OK'd it, Developed a nasty infection overnight! Dr said he'd never seen anything like it. I was about to start commuting to work again and now I' m taking 2 different antibiotics and changing bandages twice a day! Its one of those "makes you stronger since it didn't kill you" things.

On the bright side, it seems to be responding to the meds, I'm still working from home a bit longer and it's supposed to warm up this coming week!
<B... Sat, 12 Feb 2011 18:22:01 EST Housebound while ankle healing Since my surgery, I have only been out of the house twice. Well, I did go on the porch but I mean out in the car to somewhere else. I can't drive a car until my tendon heals. I went to the doctor on the last Wed of December and on Friday my daughter drove me to the cell phone place so I could get a new phone. My old phone got wet and the display was ruined.

I have missed a couple soccer games. Luckily I can work from home. And that does save me gas and bus fare too. Still, I am ... Sun, 9 Jan 2011 16:10:18 EST Recovery from foot surgery I like being home while my tendon reattaches to the back of my heel, but I do get a little bit tired of being stuck at home all the time. On Friday I will get my daughter to take me out for a little bit. Wed, 5 Jan 2011 20:06:47 EST back to PT 10/20/10 For a second time for the bone spurs. The Dr is talking surgery if it dosent work. Wed, 20 Oct 2010 17:23:37 EST Ankle, spurs. After a year of not being able to walk correctly I have discovered that my pain is NOT caused by my weight but by 3 bone spurs. I , at first, did not get a medical opinion because I felt I 'knew' that the problem was that I was carrying too much extra weight. Not so. After an xray by the orthopedic consult, there are 3 spurs , 2 at the back of my right foot and 1 at the bottom. It was there, plain as day, on the xray that was taken. So started the walking cast, the PT, the stretching and ult... Tue, 7 Sep 2010 02:05:03 EST right ankle blues My ankle has been swelling and painful for awhile now. And then a few weeks ago I slipped on some ice and hurt it worse. I couldn't use crutches, so I got a knee walker and used it for 2 weeks. I think it helped but it was difficult to use going back and forth to work. Sun, 14 Mar 2010 14:54:33 EST Swimming!!! My wonderful granddaughter won a 3 mth family membership to the Y so now I am getting to swim 3-4 times a week! I feel better for it.
Cassie's first fish. (not as big as it looks here) Thu, 16 Jul 2009 12:52:33 EST Family is most important, especially in these tough financial times I am so grateful for my family and my extended family right now. I try to keep giving and donating,,, after all what goes around comes around. I pray that the US gets back on her feet and back to business, employment and industry. Sat, 21 Feb 2009 22:47:20 EST A little more active I have been stepping up my activity slowly. I will be glad when it gets warmer out and then I'll feel more motivated to get out and walk the dogs. Tue, 15 Jan 2008 12:50:16 EST Happy New Year! I have been battling my weight for most of my life. When I look back at pictures from my past, I think of how thin I was and I wish I looked like that again but at the time, I remember that I felt fat. Meanwhile life has gone on and year after year I have become less active and more overweight. I'd like to turn this around. I have been a member of Spark People for quite some time. I like the exercises, nutritional advice, community message boards, everything! Maybe this year I can keep at it ... Tue, 1 Jan 2008 15:33:37 EST
