Have lost about 4 pounds in 4 weeks.....which is not particularly quick, but it's steady & it's by doing things that I can STAND to do. I'm not starving. I'm eating yummy food....just yummy food that's better for me than the old yummy food I was eating. Strawberries instead of a candy bar. Rice crackers with hummus instead of a bag of chips. A chicken breast & a fresh vegetable instead of macaroni & cheese.

So far, ... Fri, 20 May 2011 08:41:30 EST New Kitten! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4195968 So, I got a new baby kitten & named her Buffy. My big ginger tom is VERY unhappy with me at the moment, won't stop hissing & swearing. I hope he'll get used to her soon. I'm thinking that playing with a baby kitty at home instead of sitting watching the tube & thinking about eating is a good thing! Thu, 28 Apr 2011 08:55:55 EST Good Friday! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4183282 So, it's only been 3 days....and I swear I already have more energy. It's only 8:30 AM & I've already exercised, and been out to the post office, the car wash, and DD! Fri, 22 Apr 2011 08:45:14 EST round & round the mulberry bush..... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4176110 198
So.....here I am again. The good news is, having gotten on the scale for the first time in more than a year, I'm about 10 pounds less than I expected. Not saying much though. Sigh. I know I know, I'm supposed to be upbeat. But it seems like I've trod this ground before. Up, down, up, down, and each time it's harder because I'm older. Gotta get some happy feet from somewhere... Tue, 19 Apr 2011 07:56:31 EST Taco Bell http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2060950 Ok, so after rushing to the PO, taking out the trash, going to the laundromat, walking from there to the drugstore, going back, folding etc, I was so beat last night that I could not face going home & having to cook & wait another hour to eat. Between the laundromat & my house, which is no more than 2 miles, there are, get this: Taco Bell, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Burger King, MacDonald's, Subway, Papa Gino's, and D'Angelos. Not to mention a local Chinese restaurant & a local sub shop. So ... Thu, 14 May 2009 07:18:25 EST DEFINITELY banished the 160's http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2057880 Ok, so for some reason I seem to have overcome some hurdle & have fallen like a stone the last week, despite it being "that time of the month" week. Lost 2 pounds last week. Dietician says I can't expect more than 1 pound a week at my size. Maybe all that working out has finally built enough muscle to be gobbling up more calories. Wish it would last, know I can't count on it....but too bad, because at 2 pounds a week I could reach my goal so much faster! Wed, 13 May 2009 07:38:20 EST Banished the 160's....I hope! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2044370 So, here I am, 12 pounds later.....and much happier. Amazing how a modest difference can make a HUGE difference. 20 pounds to go! Fri, 8 May 2009 07:16:37 EST Ok, so 3rd time's a charm, right? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1993361 Big news; joined the gym! Got a great deal & have actually been 3 times; going again tonight. Since my podiatrist said I can't walk more often than every other day, I've been going on alternate days to ride a statinary bike for cardio, and using a few of the machines for weight training. Have lost 8 pounds in 4 weeks from the all-time high of 170.8, so I guess I'm on the right track so far..... Tue, 21 Apr 2009 15:12:10 EST I'm back..... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=1054616 So, I haven't blogged in ages, figured it was time. Finally back on the wagon after a horrible 2007. Crohn's flare-up, death in the family, car got smashed, doctors trying to rip 1/2 my colon out, breast cancer scare, you name it. Odd years just DON'T make me happy. Gotta try to break it in 2009! Anyway.....so FAR, 2008 a little better. I was horrified to discover that my starting weight was in fact 7 pounds heavier than my highest estimate. I had thrown the scale away last year in dis... Wed, 5 Mar 2008 08:25:16 EST Gotta love the roller coaster http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=530392 OK, so this morning I'm back down to 140. I think I may FINALLY have figured out some factors that are sabotaging me. I discovered that I've been underestimating the amount of calories I'm getting in the whole wheat pizza dough I make. I was using the "one serving pizza dough" listing instead of plugging in my own ingredients in the proper amounts. Considering that I've been making pizza (with chicken & low-fat cheese by the way) several times a week, that means I've been underestimating ... Wed, 25 Apr 2007 06:44:17 EST Sigh http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=521589 Haven't blogged in a while....have had a rough few weeks. My ex-husband's younger brother died suddenly at 41 & the family asked me to speak at the funeral, which was stressful. I got sick with the flu on Easter. Now I think my Crohn's is flaring up. Why is it always the ODD years that suck? Every odd year in the spring it seems like I have lots of troubles. It's been a pattern since '01. Anyway....and I'm not making a lot of weight loss progress, either. I wish somebody could explain... Thu, 19 Apr 2007 06:49:15 EST NO naked happy dance http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=488899 So much for the naked happy dance. I should have known to expect weeks of no visible change on the scale after 3 consective weeks of significant loss. Still depressing. Really wanted to see the 130's this week but no soap. I'm pretty sure I'm doing everything right....I'm about to change up my strength exercises, I'm trying to gradually increase the speed & distance of my walks, I'm staying within the recommended calorie intake almost every day. Guess I can't expect to see a 2 pound loss... Thu, 29 Mar 2007 08:53:08 EST Naked happy dance http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=478151 Ok, I am so doing the naked happy dance! 140......5 pounds in 3.5 weeks. Cha cha cha cha cha cha CHA! 130's HERE I COME. Pants that I grew out of HERE I COME. BIKINI HERE I COME! Thu, 22 Mar 2007 06:58:36 EST Whoo-hoo! 142! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=468361 So...for the 2nd time, I can record a loss! Let me tell you, I was scared to step on that scale. I have tried to take very much to heart all the advice about focusing on feeling better, having more energy, clothes fit a little looser, etc....but it SURE is rewarding to also be able to see the scale go down, for the second week in a row! I'm especially pleased because "that time of the month" is due in the next few days so I figure I've got to be at the heavy end of the monthly variation. ... Thu, 15 Mar 2007 07:06:11 EST Not much to report http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=466928 Not a lot to say today; tried Yoga last night but found I don't have the space in front of the TV to do it properly, and got frustrated with the simultaneous "breathe & move" thing. WHEN am I supposed to breathe? And it's supposed to sound like Darth Vader? Yeah, ok.....didn't really get it. How am I supposed to watch what's going on on the screen when you're telling me to "try to touch my chin to my belly button"? Anyway....onward & upward. Pretty nice out today so I'll get a walk in a... Wed, 14 Mar 2007 09:38:13 EST Getting cardio in... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=465560 Walked for the 4th time today; for the first time actually started to enjoy the exertion instead of HATING EVERY MINUTE OF IT. So that's good.... Tue, 13 Mar 2007 11:46:08 EST Didn't do too badly http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=463764 Back from the weekend in Maine & didn't do too badly. Stayed within my calorie range Friday & Monday & only went over a little on Saturday. The only bummer....got a $185.00 speeding ticket on the Maine Turnpike. Just shoot me now.... Mon, 12 Mar 2007 11:01:27 EST Here comes the big test http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=458179 So, here comes a challenge; tomorrow morning I leave for Maine to celebrate my 43rd birthday with my parents. I already know I have to stop at Burger King & go out to Chinese buffet lunch....so I'm trying to plan in advance by looking up what's the least damaging breakfast food I can eat at Burger King, and by trying to figure out what to have & not to have for Chinese lunch.....turns out that a Crossandwich with egg & cheese is less than 400 calories. So I think I'll go with that & maybe ... Thu, 8 Mar 2007 07:07:41 EST A pound! A pound! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=456836 So, for the first time today, I was able to record a loss. Only a pound but one has to start somewhere. I'm cinching my belt one hole tighter than 2 weeks ago & feel less "fat", and have more energy. Feel like I'm on target to make this a long term process rather than a "drop 10 pounds in a month" marathon. Wed, 7 Mar 2007 09:48:21 EST Thanks to all http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=455276 Thanks to all you guys & gals out there for sharing your experiences. Until now I've been struggling on alone as most of my friends are either A) skinny so they don't care or B) Fat but they don't care....so nobody wants to hear about it! Tue, 6 Mar 2007 10:15:37 EST
