If I'm starving, I do get a stomach growl. On the other end of the spectrum, I can tell when I've eaten too much because I am miserable with a stomach ache.
It is extraordinarily frustrating. It is difficult to meal plan because I don't feel like eating (I also have a super picky eating 10 yo that makes it no fun to cook because any... Mon, 25 Jan 2016 11:02:21 EST SparkCoach Asks... What in my life needs moderation.
I'm not really sure. One of my mottoes is "everything in moderation" already. The only thing I do more of than I should is sitting. I have an adjustable desk. Fri, 5 Dec 2014 10:01:25 EST SparkCoach asks "what does health mean to me?" To me "health" is is how well your body works. Is it doing what you want it to be able to do? If not, what can you do to get it there? What constraints do you have to? Do you have an illness or disability to work around? You can still make choices to get improve how you feel and how your body works. Tue, 25 Nov 2014 06:59:54 EST Spark coach asks how does clothes shopping make me feel? clothes shopping is the worst thing ever. I've learned to look past the number, but it's exceedingly frustrating to have to go back to the dressing room time after time to find something that fits. What works in one brand doesn't work in another. Or sometimes even within its own brand.
Does anyone remember when there were dressing room attendants that would help you by bringing different sizes? Now you're lucky if you don't have to put away the clothes you've pulled and don't want. Tue, 14 Oct 2014 07:34:06 EST My relationship with food is... ...a mixed bag. Sometimes we work well together like we're in sync and compatico. Other times we fight. I don't know. Spend less time online? Less time on the couch? Less time feeling like I want to cut off my arm? My leg? Thu, 26 Jun 2014 18:46:07 EST And we're off No real improvement on my knee. Still pretty limited in what I can do. I've done the recumbent bike a couple of times successfully and I've been walking. Tried the seated cardio workout this morning. I was hoping to get back to Group Power this week or next, but I'm still getting some pretty serious twinging. Don't think I'm quite ready for that.
Slow and steady wins the race. Right? Tue, 24 Jul 2012 07:14:15 EST The diagnosis Six months ago I wasn't a runner. The thought of me ever being a runner was ludicrous. As my previous posts have indicated, I've never been good at running. I wasn't even planning on becoming a runner. I was using C25K as interval training. And then something happened. Something finally clicked. I enjoyed running. I could run for longer and longer periods of time. I was increasing speed and distance. I could do it. I was thrilled. I was looking forward to training for and running my first 5K.... Thu, 28 Jun 2012 22:30:35 EST KRANKcycle So, I tried the KRANKcycle
at the gym a couple of times. Tshe first time I didn't go super hard, but I went for about 20 minutes. At the end, the little calculator told me I burned 91 calories. Didn't feel worth it. Seriously. I could burn more calories walking. I spoke with someone at the gym who uses it and decided to switch things up and add some resistance and speed. I also wore my HRM to get a "more" accurate account of what was going on. I decided to ... Thu, 28 Jun 2012 06:58:51 EST Update on my knee I had an MRI last week and my evaluation today.
The good news is that there is no fragmentation. Meaning that there aren't any actual chips in the bone. The bad news is that there is no fragmentation. Meaning that there isn't a clear course of treatment. Tue, 19 Jun 2012 21:02:32 EST And... We're done I had been having issues with the running. Suddenly, I couldn't do it. Like my last post, I thought it was because I had been stuck in my head. Then I decided to actually take a look at the data that was being collected from my app and realized that the reason that I was having issues was because I was running faster. Too fast for where I was. I decided to go back a few weeks and work on increasing my speed. That was going pretty well.
Then on May 26, I was going up a flight of stairs to... Fri, 8 Jun 2012 20:50:41 EST C25K May 8 My Run on Tuesday.
I've been kind of busy so I didn't get to post about my run. It was long. It was hard. I, once again, didn't finish. I had one of those "mind over body" moments, but this time my mind won. I was actually doing fairly well until I finished mile 1. Then I stopped hearing the music and started thinking. About Me. About My Life. About Where I've Been.

I tried focusing on where I am now, but then I started thinking about my breathing. About the 1 mile that we ha... Wed, 2 May 2012 22:59:07 EST C25K April 1 Wasn't sure about my run this morning. It was chilly. I still have no cool weather clothes, but the Y doesn't open until 9 on Sundays and I wanted to get my run in early as I had things to do. I do have some long sleeved cotton t-shirts that and decided to risk it. Got my apps and music ready and headed out the door. My warm up walk was a lot more brisk than in the past. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the fact that I was cold. I was thinking a jacket and some gloves would have been nice, ... Wed, 2 May 2012 22:58:09 EST C25K March 29 Continuing adding my facebook updates...

So, my run this morning...
I don't have any cool weather clothes, so I decided to hit the track at the Y again. I was still working on a headache from yesterday and I was exhausted. I really didn't want to be there. I wanted to be outside. I was at about 10% motivation, but I went.
The first five minutes is a walking warm up. There were 2 other people on the track. One was an older guy going at a pretty quick walking pace. All three goals met.
Next week is going to be a hard one for me. I'll be at a conference for three days, which typically means little sleep and not a lot of control over the food.
I'm going to leave my goals the same as week 2.
Not feeling too hot, so I'm headed to bed early. Sun, 13 Feb 2011 22:17:16 EST Will-ness adventure Week 2 I successfully completed all of my goals for my start of Will-ness. For my fitness I did some aerobics over lunch at work and a "learning belly dance" dvd thing at home.
I did great in logging my food as well. I'm concentrating on remembering to log it and actually start thinking about what I'm eating before I start calorie restrictions. I did stop myself from putting some stuff into my mouth because I didn't want to have to take the time to log it, so it did help in that sense.
The... Sun, 6 Feb 2011 23:17:23 EST Starting my Will-Ness adventure So, I have these crazy friends with all of these crazy ideas and big dreams. One of their dreams came true last summer when their non-profit theater company, Optimist Theatre, put on a production of The Tempest for free in Milwaukee. It was sold out. It was critically acclaimed. It. Was. Incredible. And expensive. (And they want to do it again. I know. CRAZY! This time they are doing Twelfth Night.)

Around mid-December, I got an e-mail from my friend, Susan, the managing director. ... Tue, 1 Feb 2011 13:56:13 EST Vision and goals It's been a while since I've posted on here. I'm almost done with The Spark. Tue, 9 Mar 2010 23:04:29 EST The Mission of Me I've been reading The Spark and it has inspired me both at home and at work. I've mostly been concentrating on work. I had been on maternity leave and "lost direction" since I've been back. I've been doing my job (and doing it well), but I've just been going in, doing what's on my plate and going home. Just sort of bobbing in and out. I'm working on developing my long, medium and short term goals for work, but first I did a mission statement. How can I set goals if I don't know what I'm striv... Wed, 6 Jan 2010 14:05:04 EST Derailed It's been a while since I've posted. I fell about a week and a half ago and broke my foot in two places. Hoping to back up and running (well, zumba-ing) in a few weeks. It's very frustrating because it's my right foot, which means no driving. I could possibly do some strength training at the gym if I could get there.
I just printed out the 20 minute resistance band workout and hope to do that 3 times a week. I just need to find my box of bands. Trying to figure out what to do for cardio.... Thu, 17 Dec 2009 20:32:15 EST ARGH!!!! And... I broke my foot... *sigh*
No more Zumba for a while. :( Mon, 7 Dec 2009 23:27:31 EST Thanksgiving post mortem OK. We're still in Thanksgiving weekend, but I think I'm far enough into it to be able to look back at the big T-Day and evaluate it.
I'm thankful that my gym was open on Thanksgiving day. :) I was able to get in there at 6 and do both cardio and strength training before coming home and making the green bean casserole that I was taking to the big Family Thanksgiving. Sat, 28 Nov 2009 18:36:16 EST The Legend of Zumba So far the Holiday Trimmings contest has been keeping me mostly on track. Last weekend, not so much, but I have turned things down, skipped a potluck at work and made some more than half-hearted attempts at exercise.

Last night I tried Zumba. I tried it after work through a work sponsored class a couple of weeks ago and liked it. I tried it last night at the Y. It was fun. It was exciting. I burned a lot of calories and worked up a pretty good sweat. I enjoyed it and will definitel... Wed, 25 Nov 2009 14:13:56 EST Day One: Holiday Trimmings So, I entered the "Holiday Trimmings" contest at the Y. The goal isn't necessarily to lose weight, but to not gain it during the holiday season. I missed out on the Biggest Loser Contest at work because I was out on maternity leave. (I also felt that I would have had an "unfair advantage" because the original weigh in date was when I was still losing 2-3 lbs a day from the pregnancy.) So, here I go. I weighed in at 199.8 pounds. EEP! I did it at 5:30 am so I was able to hit the cardio machine... Tue, 17 Nov 2009 10:25:59 EST
