MANDAROSE80's SparkPeople Blog MANDAROSE80's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Fabulous Friday Life is an adventure! What's your story? Fri, 29 Jan 2016 09:45:30 EST First time on Roller skates in 12+ years 216 244

I learned to roller skate when I was little (younger than 5 or 6) in the basement of my parents' house. Occasionally, my older sister would take me with her to the roller rink where she played on the hockey team. I always loved to skate but as I got older I just didn't make time for it or there wasn't a rink or I didn't have the money or the roller blades I bought at one point didn't work for me or I was just looking for excuses. That older sis... Sat, 5 Jan 2013 17:17:20 EST A to Z "Getting to know you" questionnaire I was trying to figure out what to blog about today and come across this on one of the team message boards. Fri, 4 Jan 2013 21:10:15 EST Some moments to remember There are some moments in life that I remember much more clearly than others. Generally though, moments in time blend into the day to day and soon a week, a month, or even a year has slipped by within the blink of an eye.

Today, I want to take a minute to mention a few moments that in the years to come will probably not stand out as anything too significant in the long road but have contributed to a wonderful day.

1. I had the opportunity to share my love of books and... Thu, 3 Jan 2013 22:24:19 EST Family on Board Day two of the new year and the family is on board with the exercise, kind of. I unpacked the stability balls and pumped up them. The kids (especially my son) have been rolling all over the living room, dining room, and kitchen. Today, I stopped and picked up 2 more and they are ready to go. One is ready for the home office and the other is added to the living room. The treadmill has been used heavily the past few days. I've been dancing up a sweat with my 12 year old daughter (great fu... Wed, 2 Jan 2013 20:08:02 EST A New year, a new day Today starts the new year. A day for new beginnings and new goals. A time when a lot of people reflect on the previous year, examining what went wrong and what progress was made. A time to take the lessons from the previous year and incorporate them into the new. Remember though that every day is a chance to start new or to revisit goals. Every moment is a chance to redirect the course and to be the change you wish to see.

Happy New Year! Happy New Day! Tue, 1 Jan 2013 12:56:06 EST Spark Poll In some form, those Sparkpoints motivate me. I go through the list and see what I can do to get more points to get to the next level. Maybe it's all those video games. But, you know, some of the things I wouldn't do without the lure of a few points (for example, write this blog post). Today, I clicked the link to take a Spark Poll and the one I came across was, "Now that the year is almost over did you: lose weight, gain weight, stay the same, or other" (Don't be surprised if you find th... Wed, 26 Dec 2012 19:51:56 EST Gardening Connection Today, I joined a few of the gardening groups on Sparkpeople. Six or seven years ago, gardening wasn't something I really thought too much about. There were a few Springs when I'd plant a few seeds and promptly forget about them. Then, I started focusing on eating better and getting more exercise. I read as many books, magazines, and website articles as I could fit into a day. Maybe I was looking for that one quick fix. I didn't find one quick fix but I found multiple strategies that I ... Tue, 25 Dec 2012 18:30:33 EST Another day to begin Today, I decided that it was time to get back on track. I've set a new goal... to lose 40 pounds by the end of June. This year has been a challenging year filled with some big life changes. My dad passed away in February. I finally completed the search for a new job which has led me to Kentucky. I'm settling into a whole new routine, new location, new job, everything seems new. Unfortunately, the healthy habits that I had worked on for so long started to regress and progress hasn't been...
