I'll use my old rules to return to my former skinny self:
Burn 2000-2500 calories per week
Eat less than 1400 calories per day - Track each day
Eat 5 servings of fruit and veggies per day
Drink alcohol anywhere except home (max 2 glasses per event)

I will resume my weekly meal planning this Sunday. Workouts planned for today through Friday. We are taking a brief weekend g... Tue, 8 Jan 2013 20:56:12 EST Newly Committed http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5054252 I feel a bit like a broken record. Ironically, I last blogged back in June. And I am probably not going to say anything different than I did back then. The exception now is that I really do feel a strong sense of commitment to healthy living. I got so caught up in the wrong numbers - the scale, my pant size - that I forgot about the really important numbers - my blood pressure and cholesterol. Seeing as the people in my family don't live the longest, healthy lives, I have reminded myself... Tue, 11 Sep 2012 11:05:01 EST My 8 Week Back on Track Plan http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4931805 I have been struggling with the same 3 lbs for over a month. And those 3 lbs are WAY over my comfortable fluctuation range. Starting today, I have re-committed to eating well after working on re-focusing on exercise for the last 3 or so weeks. I've been able to work out 4-5 days per week pretty easily once I learned how to re-train myself to drive to the gym and do lunchtime when I can.

Now I need to really get committed to the food, which as you know, is the more important pa... Mon, 18 Jun 2012 15:14:11 EST The Ideal Me http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4912098 I've been meaning to write this for a while. It was inspired by Fit-Whit's blog from a few weeks ago. I got to thinking that my anxiety and depression may be stemming from not really living the life I feel I was meant to. What life do I really want to live? Who is the Ideal Me - the Michelle I actually want to be?
-Connected to the Earth, the universe and God in my own way but paying respect in an outward way
-A great sister, supporting daughter and unconditionally loving (and n... Mon, 4 Jun 2012 19:54:58 EST Lost My Way But Planning for Success http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4911205 This spring was rough for me. Bad news about my blood pressure and cholesterol levels has led to three medications. Anxiety and depression set in after gripping with the one-year anniversary of my father's death and feelings of isolation. I lost motivation to eat well and exercise and traded those habits in for old ones - shopping, happy hour, dinners out, cocktails at home - that I hoped would make me feel better. I've gained 11 lbs since january, when I only needed to drop 5 to return to ... Mon, 4 Jun 2012 09:31:37 EST My New Back on Track Plan http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4788761 I have fallen off the wagon hard core. I am losing motivation to eat well and exercise. My jeans are getting tighter. I am up about 5 lbs to 166.2 today since early January (161.2) when I was supposed to be LOSING 5 lbs to get back to my comfortable weight range of 155-157.

I did the smart thing and got rid of all my pants that are bigger than size 10. But honestly most of my pants are size 8. And they fit but not well. So what am I going to do? All the things I KNEW I neede... Thu, 15 Mar 2012 10:14:27 EST My Progress After Week #3 of My Back on Track Plan http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4475469 I realized I haven't updated you in a while on my progress. Last weekend was bad. Unhealthy food for Jamison's birthday and too much drinking at his party on Friday night. Which meant no gym and pizza & sprite on saturday. :(

I got back on track a bit by exercising Sunday and Monday but I went to a BBQ and overindulged in food (like 6 hawaiian rolls with butter and fried chicken) and drink (beer, wine and Taboo for shots) on Sunday.

Monday I was able to get started o... Fri, 9 Sep 2011 12:11:07 EST My Progress After Week #1 of Back on Track Plan http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4456749 I prepped lots of food for the week on Sunday. I ate fairly good last week - with a couple of pizza slip-ups due to a funeral on Thursday and entertaining friends with MORE pizza AND cocktails on Saturday night.

I've been generally staying around 1400 calories and this week will try to stay below 1350 each day (pretty easy when eating clean) except Friday for J's birthday lunch and party.

As you can see - I am down 2.2 lbs since last Tuesday weigh in. I also checked ... Tue, 30 Aug 2011 14:47:31 EST The Plan to Weigh 154 by September 23 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4430474 I cannot exactly say I didn't see this coming, but I am still disappointed that I weighed in this am THREE pounds more than my last weigh-in. So now, I am not 7ish pounds off my goal but nearly 10. So here is my plan. I promise to keep you updated on my progress toward my goal.

Wk. 8/15: Exercise 4-5 times, don't go overboard on sketchy food or cocktails while traveling (8/16 weighed in at 163.6, take measurements tonight to see how far they've increased since last measurement ... Tue, 16 Aug 2011 12:45:12 EST My Plan Until August 18 - Drop 4 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4412045 So, I didn't do the greatest on my vacation in Omaha. I gained two pounds, which I lost this week. Now I have two weeks to lose 5 pounds, which isn't really possible. So I have shifted my goal to lose 4 pounds - that would be 157.5 - by August 18.

This week, I am working out every day (on Day 4) and focused on staying in my calorie range. I will also work out next weekend Friday through Tuesday, and stay within my calorie range.

Life gets tricky with a crazy busy p... Sun, 7 Aug 2011 10:04:37 EST Getting Back on Track NOW and Down 5 Pounds by August 18 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4387425 I love SP. Not just for the tools, but for the support. When I read FITWHIT's blog about making a PLAN for an "On Track" Week, I was so inspired I HAD to comment. Low and behold, she wrote back! Why was I planning to get back on track next week? Why had I "tried" (albeit faintheartedly) to get back on track last month and nothing had worked? Because I kept talking generally, not specifically. Because there was always some reason, some event... after which I'd get back on track.
So... Tue, 26 Jul 2011 12:47:29 EST Goal Setting Issues - When Do You Stop Losing? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3955874 So, My original goal was to lose 35 pounds on SparkPeople. When I reached that goal one month early (in November 2010), I immediately decided to stretch my goal to lose an additional 12 pounds and a healthy BMI. Yesterday, I stepped on the scale and saw that I am now only 4.4 pounds away from my healthy BMI. Instead of being happy and proud, the first thing I thought is "Should I keep losing?"

There was a point when I was 20 that I lost a lot of weight (due to severe depression.... Mon, 24 Jan 2011 11:35:51 EST Forgot 30 pounds loss meant new clothes... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3857781 I know, I know... How I did I not put one and one together to equal two. I have been truly thrilled that sparkpeople has been so successful in aiding me to lose nearly 33 pounds since August. But I forgot that those size 14 clothes would not fit my new lighter body. Luckily, I had a few size 12s, but I was totally unprepared for the massive amount of clothing I would need to purchase to fit my new body.
Since I am still looking to lose about 10 more pounds, I don't want to buy too ... Wed, 22 Dec 2010 14:04:01 EST Same food but more hunger? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3636486 So, I ate basically the exact same items for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks on Sunday and Monday. Sunday I felt amazingly satisfied. Last night, I was ravenous beyond belief AFTER eating dinner. What gives? Have you guys experienced this too? Is it really physical or is it a psychological issue? Tue, 14 Sep 2010 08:40:22 EST Thanks to Ruby Tuesday for Grilled Green Beans http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3609347 On Friday night, Jamison and I headed to Ruby Tuesday to take advantage of a BOGO coupon scored from Self magazine to wrap up his birthday fun. (Ruby Tuesday was my fave healthy restaurant back in 2003/2004 when I drove across PA for my job.) I noticed a new healthy side dish on the menu - grilled green beans - and had to try them out.

They were SO tasty! How did I never think of grilling green beans? I grill every other veggie! So, on Saturday night I made some grilled fresh ... Sun, 5 Sep 2010 16:10:57 EST Drinking Deficit? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3581532 So, one of the things I've decided to do to get ramped up is following essentially South Beach Diet Phase 1 for the first 10 days. One of the MANY things that forces me to give up is alcohol. Now, I have been known to have 1-2 glasses of wine every night after work and maybe 3-4 on the weekend. But surprisingly, I'm not really missing the drinks so much.

I am truly perplexed by this, but I do know one thing: if I eat less than 1300 calories per day, I am not sure I really have ... Fri, 27 Aug 2010 20:50:57 EST On Track with the Program http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=3572977 So, I've been a lifelong yo-yo dieter. And my late twenties and early thirties have NOT been great for my waistline. Pair a six year career as a road warrior and a husband that loves cheeseburgers, mexican food and pizza as much as me... and well, it's not hard to imagine how it all happened.

At least I've realized that my candy addiction (Sour Patch Kids lately) is out of control and my hatred of vegetables is unnatural. So, after seeing a shocking number on the scale (approxim... Wed, 25 Aug 2010 10:54:35 EST Getting My Husband to Join http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2247422 I am still very grateful to my colleague for telling me all about SparkPeople back in June. I've been using it ever since to track my food and cardio. I have been raving continuously about how awesome the site is and that it's amazing that it can calculate everything for you to help you lose weight... And finally after he's been really hungry to 2 weeks, I got him to try the site out. Now he's hooked!!!!!! he is like man, that site is so cool. I can't believe I didn't join sooner. Whic...
