Tue, 27 Jan 2015 15:23:56 EST Just Pluggin' Along... (pictures!) Nothing interesting to post today, but want to check in. We are having some beautiful, unusually warm weather here in the Pacific Northwest. 64° yesterday and 60°+ today. I'm loving it! I took the pup for a run yesterday... I can't imagine a more beautiful running trail! She was so happy to be out in the sunshine... I ran faster in spurts just to watch her cute little face filled with excitement! Sadly, I am stuck inside for 11 hours today at work so I won't be able to enjoy the beauty... Mon, 26 Jan 2015 16:57:30 EST Still learning and improving Well, my last week (okay, 10 days) hasn't been so great. But I'm learning from it. Last week the hubs was sick, so that threw a wrench in my plans. I also had plans with my father-in-law one day, and with the hubs home sick, we wound up out at the bar so we didn't wake him up. REGARDLESS, here is the lesson I've learned and what I'm doing to avoid such derailment in the future.

I like scheduled. I can go home and run my feelings out on the treadmill. I can feel better knowing that I have my nutrition and exercise under control. But when I get REALLY stressed, I go back to my old ways and turn to food and laziness to get over my stress. It turns into a downward spiral because then I stress about my lack of control and discipline.

That is what happened this week. Sunday was a less than s... Mon, 5 Jan 2015 13:37:36 EST Is this the year of success? I want this to be my best year yet. I've slowly been working towards certain goals with no real end date on them. But, being that it is a new year, I am going to really make it a new start. But I'm going to approach things differently. Rather than make big, year long goals, I am going to make my big goals by quarter. I have already made a list in my phone for the first 2 quarters of the year. Managed 7 miles on my FitBit for the day - I think it's a best ever! But... my body isn't happy about it. I ached when I went to bed, to the point that I couldn't sleep. So I'm pooped today. Thu, 18 Dec 2014 13:10:43 EST Hump Day Progress (and furbaby pictures) Happy Hump day, everyone! Is everybody ready for Christmas NEXT WEEK?! I can't believe it's here so fast. Luckily I spent some time working on Christmas gifts yesterday. Just a little bit of work left on my sister's gift, need to do all 4 of my SIL's and MIL's gifts, and wrap the DH's gifts... not too terrible. Totally doable!

Yesterday a friend came over to help me with my sister's Christmas present, but before we got to work on that we took the dog for a quick walk. I don't... Wed, 17 Dec 2014 19:05:17 EST Productive Weekend I did pretty well with my exercise on my 2 days off... though the eating wasn't great yesterday. I managed to get the dog out for a walk each day and on Friday I was feeling extra motivated. Our normal walk is the perimeter of our neighborhood, which is 2.25 miles. Friday we walked to the far end of the neighborhood, then I decided I'd run (ok, a slow jog) up one street, walk to the next street, run back down, walk to the next... and so on. I did this 1/2 of the way back to my house, as o... Sun, 14 Dec 2014 15:04:44 EST Made Myself Proud I am pretty proud of myself for my efforts yesterday! I went home and got my booty on the treadmill last night. I kicked some booty!! I did 5 miles with some jogging (since it's easier on my knees). It was a lot easier for me to do it since the hubs was already in bed when I got home since he's been working at 3am all week! It felt really good to push myself like that. It's been a long time since I did that distance in one go. When my FitBit has been hitting 6 miles it's because of a 2... Thu, 11 Dec 2014 16:13:44 EST Quick update Just a quick update to track my goals. No long walks this week due to weather, but I'm not letting it get the best of me. Wed, 10 Dec 2014 21:25:25 EST Week 2 Happy Monday, SparkFriends! I hope everyone had a great weekend!

My weekend was pretty good. I didn't do well with my eating, but because of all of the shopping we did, I got in my 10k steps (6 miles) on Friday and Saturday. On Friday I met with my surgeon... he wants to do surgery in the next 3-6 months and told me to pick a date. Right now I'm looking at going in for the surgery in April. I just realized the 12k race we've done the last 2 years is April 19 and I'd like to d... Mon, 8 Dec 2014 13:41:38 EST Progress So Far Happy December, everyone! I can't believe it is almost Christmas. Where did this year go???

I've been doing well on my challenge so far. I've been below calories every day, but right now I'm okay with that. I'm not hungry and I know that won't last long, so I'm just going to go with it for right now. Once I start exercising regularly I know I'll need more calories anyway.

I forgot to note on my last blog that my miles are going to be counted from my FitBit. I know ... Wed, 3 Dec 2014 19:19:13 EST Same story... different day Ugh. I officially weigh more than ever. I only know this because of how my pants fit, as I won't go near the scale. But I have finally got a work schedule that's supposed to stick, so I should be able to make plans to get my weight back under control. I'm going to resort back to my tried and true monthly challenges. I get so discouraged when I aim for a goal weight and don't accomplish it, so I'm taking my weight out of the equation. I'm making this a VERY doable challenge for myself. ... Wed, 26 Nov 2014 19:34:48 EST 10 Min/Day Streak - Week 1 Woohoo! I've managed to hit 7 days on my 10 minute walks streak! I just took a quick walk to get away from my desk at work to meet today's minimum.... but it was more in hopes that the walk would wake me up some.

These hours are taking a toll on me. I'm more than half way through this 12 day work "week" though. I can do this. I didn't sleep well last night and I'm in a lot of pain due to the knots in my back. Being that it's Friday it means I'm in 5 days of my 12 day work streak. UGH. 7 more days of being stuck in this HORRIBLE chair at work. BUT... It is such a constant challenge to lose/maintain weight.

Thanks to my dear friend, IAMZBEE, I took my first steps towards making this maintainable. I took a walk. Here we go again:

I am not abandoning my goals, but I am revising them. This time of year is just too difficult for me to stay on track with my eating. I have 1-2 bad eating days and I am tempted to give up. So that I don't give up I am going to focus mostly on my fitness and less on my eating habits. I will still strive to get my water in (weekends are the hardest) and make better decisions on food most of th... I am so far out of shape that the 3 miles of interval running and my 10 squats, 10 push-ups, and 30 second plank have me sore today! I can't wait to get out for another interval run today. My speed intervals were roughly 7MPH (yes, that is fast for this girl) and my darling dog must have seen a bird or something and damn near killed me by running in front of me during a speed interval. I really thought I was going to get intimate with the pavement for a second. I ... I did pretty well on my goals last week... I didn't get a formal walk or run in on Saturday, but we took the dog to the Farmer's Market and then to a City Festival and did a fair amount of walking around, so I know I got my 2 miles in. Mon, 18 Aug 2014 14:19:37 EST Progress Report Happy Thursday! It's my last working day of the week - yay!! I had every intention of getting up and walking the pup (Summit is her name) this morning and FAILED. I don't know what it is going to take for me to get going that early in the morning. The dog didn't even get up this morning either to watch my husband get ready. So, I plan on taking her out for a 3ish mile walk tonight... as my knees are still killing me, I don't think running is a good idea.

I weighed in today and... Thu, 14 Aug 2014 13:45:35 EST Workout #3 Complete! The pup and I went out for our third run this morning. 3 miles today. I put her training collar back on today and she did much better. It was also pretty quiet on the trail since it was about 9am on a Wednesday. She still likes to veer into my running legs and trip me. I don't know what I need to do to keep her a safe distance to my side. My knees are killing me now... I forgot to foam roll my IT band before my shower and that usually seems to help.

Regardless, I got it done... Wed, 13 Aug 2014 16:38:04 EST Feeling better I'm feeling much better after such a down day yesterday. The dog and I even got out for an easy jog after the sun went down (though it was still like 87 degrees). I was pretty proud of myself for not letting the heat stop me. We got up this morning and got in another 2.25 mile walk/jog. I'm feeling pretty tired sitting here at work, but my mind is more calm than it was yesterday.

I also stayed in calorie range yesterday (actually slightly below) and am well below today with t... I am really unhappy with my body.

The bright part of my life right now is that we got a dog just over a week ago, and I'm hoping she will help me get back on track. Ugh. I am so bad at being consistant with Spark lately... But I'm still here and I'm still working towards my goals! I am not doing great with my weight loss. So let's start from where things left off in my blog at the end of February....

We had an AWESOME time in Vegas! So great that we came home and planned our next trip within a week. We will be there in just over 2 months for my birthday. On the down side, I didn't really lose any weight for the last trip. We did not ge... Wed, 14 May 2014 19:33:59 EST Impromptu Rest Day Well, yesterday turned into an unplanned rest day for me. For several reasons. First, I developed a knot in my back when I was working out on Wednesday. It is PAINFUL. I got my kettlebell in the mail and it hurt to even pick it up. So between that and my father in law wanting to take us to dinner, I decided to take a rest day.

I overate and overdrank at dinner last night... But still consumed less food than I normally would. The scale didn't move this morning, so I'll take t... Fri, 28 Feb 2014 12:35:05 EST I JUST WANNA BE FAT............. (now re-read the subject line in an obnoxiously whiney voice)

That is what I said to my husband last night. Let's start with some backgroud.... Last year I went to my doc and asked her to change my birth control prescription to make me only have 4 cycles a year. I was getting so tired every month and skipping workouts. I didn't want that anymore. So, here I am... not having to deal with it every month, but for the first time in my life having to deal with cramps every 3 months... Thu, 27 Feb 2014 13:59:00 EST One week plan: Day 1 done I kicked some booty last night! The only thing I didn't do that I was planning for was my detox bath. It just got too late and I didn't have the time/energy. I honestly don't know if I will ever have the time/energy... but I'll keep trying.

I did manage to do my 30 min HIIT and followed it up with 30 min of walking @ 3.5mph with a 5% incline. My booty was on FIRE! It felt really good. I slept so well. I did well with the calories too, coming right in at my minimum. Today I ... Tue, 25 Feb 2014 16:08:13 EST This week's plan: I am hoping to take this month out with a bang! I want to be as good this week as I can. Kick some butt with workouts, and show myself (and the scale) that I can do it. I did well last week, but I'm going to step it up this week. In addition to eating on the lower end of my calories every day this week here is my plan for the workouts:

Today: 30 min HIIT, 30 min walking, then stretching and foam rolling. I'll follow it up with a detox bath and then hit the hay
Tuesday: ... Mon, 24 Feb 2014 18:05:24 EST Evil Foam Roller So, I foam rolled last night. I've had a foam roller for quite some time now. I bought a small one that came with a video. The guy who is in the video is like rapist creepy so I can't watch that for instruction. So after hearing from some of you that I should foam roll and maybe that'd help me knee pain - I looked up some videos and went to it.

46 It hurt so bad! I mean, bad in a good way... I think? I know it takes a while to loosen up the muscles so it's not so ... Fri, 21 Feb 2014 13:25:19 EST Update Well... where do I start? I want to lose at least 10lbs before Vegas and that's just 31 days away. I don't think that's happen... But I'll keep working at it.

Hubs is picki... Wed, 19 Feb 2014 15:35:27 EST What is it going to take?? I don't know why I do this to myself. I am so unhappy with my body. So badly wishing my clothes fit. So determined to lose the weight. But when the morning rolls around I just cannot get up and get my workout in. I wake up - hell, I even get out of bed to go to the restroom. Then I climb back in bed - I toss and turn and feel guilty about not working out, but I still don't get up and do anything about it.

I have been doing well with my eating, but I know this weekend is going... I've never felt quite as down in the dumps as I have the last few weeks. I would actually call it depressed. Normally I get into a funk, but can come out of it. This was/is deeper than a funk. I'm doing everything in my power to fix it. On Friday (my 1/2 day at work) I went home and got dinner in the crockpot, then forced myself out the front door for a run in the sun. ...
