Do you tend to it on a daily basis by hoeing, removing weeds and rocks, watering, adding organic nutrients and/or soil compost free of chemicals?

My love of gardening began with soil that was “untouched” for many years. Except for weeds and clumps of hay-like grass, nothing of value grew there. I made a conscious decision to give that soil new life and start a new hobby by growing a few vegetables and herbs. Planting and maintaining a vegetable and floral garden is hard work but worth every drop of sweat that is perspired. Thirty minutes a day can make all the difference in the successful growth of plants. Whether it is time spent tilling soil, fencing, weeding, watering, or transplanting, goals are met when the work is consistent. Sat, 7 Apr 2012 22:46:55 EST A colorful and interesting ride... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4806403 It was another beautiful sunny day for a ride through the forest on my Trek. However windy conditions kept me off the single-tracks. It was safer to travel along wider old dirt farm roads. The following pictures display the brilliant colors of forsythias, apple trees, huge evergreens and other breath-taking views that graced my route.

<B... Mon, 26 Mar 2012 22:15:54 EST A Good Addiction... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4803305 A Spark team member once told me to be careful…..it can be addictive. It looks like I’m proving him right. Mountain biking is so thrilling, adventurous, and just plain awesome! I’m so fortunate to have my own personal guide to accompany me as I thirst to learn more about myself and Nature. The trails I rode on this past week were varied in skill levels. Like anything new in life, I continue to take one baby step at a time until I feel confident in what I am doing. What a thrill to ride d... My 58th birthday was quite an eventful milestone for me. For a long time I had planned what I wanted to accomplish on this day. I dreamed it would be a commencement, the start of something new. The sky was overcast. But that did not “cloud” my decision to go out and play for most of the day. And play I did! My birthday cake was presented but placed in the refrigerator until after dinner.

<img src="http://photos-ak.sp... Fri, 16 Mar 2012 22:17:26 EST The Sound of Spring http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4772627 Yesterday’s bike ride took me across a small tributary of the Wallkill River. It was quite evident that the Spring thaw had already begun. The sight and sound of the rippling water rushing under the bike trail made me stop to watch and listen. It had such a calming effect with a very peaceful tone. Can you hear it?

Mon, 5 Mar 2012 20:54:37 EST Spring is getting closer.... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4768789 The day started out dreary with continued light rain. It affected my mood and I found myself heading down the road of hum glum. Oh, how I wanted to ride my bike! With safety in mind, I thought it best not to embark on what could be a messy ride. What fun is that? So, I pushed myself to go out for a long walk with umbrella in hand. I headed down the road not being bothered by the sprinkles and enjoyed the time walking with my best friend.

After 2 miles, we started our return tr... Sat, 3 Mar 2012 15:47:51 EST
