Being a nurse I work pretty long hours and working on the night shift throws my body out of whack no matter how long I work. I leave for work at 6:15 p.m. and get home at around 8:30 a.m. for 6 nights in a row. By the time I'm done with my shift, I'm toast. When I hit 315 pounds I thought my life was pretty much over. I never thought it possible to be under 250 pounds again. My body was just going to keep gaining weight until it killed me and that was all there was to it. After measurements I found out I'd only lost an inch in a month of working out almost every day and tracking every bite of food. According to my body media band I've had an 800-1600 calorie deficit every day and the results? Nada. It also put my own situation into a little better perspective. So often the contestants pull ridiculous weight loss numbers...and other weeks are like this one where none of them did. These people are working out with trainers for 2 hour sessions, 3 times a day, 7 days a week. Training - Actual Calorie Burn? I do HIT training (High Intensity Training) 2-3 times a week. When my son first talked me into it I thought he certainly had one of the craziest ideas I'd heard. It made no sense to me that a 15-20 minute session 3 times a week would do more good than the hours at the gym. I was wrong...though I still work out at the regular gym also. Sat, 16 Feb 2013 04:12:56 EST On the Road Again Am finally losing again! I work a week on/week off schedule of 12 hour shifts. It was so frustrating losing weight on my off week only to gain it back on my work week. Same pounds over and over again. So the new strategy worked...making sure I did some activity every hour, regulating what I ate at work, logging my foods again and I added a 20 minute brisk walk through the hospital on my lunch break. Very frustrating! I have a new scale that measures BMI and lean muscle mass. The water measurement is pretty useless since it's says I'm 20% water whether I'm dehydrated or swollen up like a blow fish. But the other measurements are helpful. They may not be totally accurate but at least they show me the trends. According to the trend I'm lowering my BMI and increasing lean muscle mass almost daily so it makes sense that the weigh...
