Being a nurse I work pretty long hours and working on the night shift throws my body out of whack no matter how long I work. I leave for work at 6:15 p.m. and get home at around 8:30 a.m. for 6 nights in a row. By the time I'm done with my shift, I'm toast. By the time I actually make it home it's all I can do to crawl up the stairs and fall into my bed. We're not even going to talk about the way too many days I end up w... Thu, 28 Mar 2013 02:19:59 EST Milestone Passed! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5288936 While most people may freak out if they saw 249 on the scale, for me it is time for a major celebration! When I hit 315 pounds I thought my life was pretty much over. I never thought it possible to be under 250 pounds again. My body was just going to keep gaining weight until it killed me and that was all there was to it. Goes to show what changing the mind can do! 9

Needless to say I'm one of the happiest people on planet earth at this moment and the possibilities... Sat, 16 Mar 2013 15:42:06 EST Plateau Busted! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5278259 The scale is finally moving again! So mixing it up and changing the routine was the trick. Next time I get stuck I'll try mixing it up sooner instead of banging my head against a wall :) Fri, 8 Mar 2013 01:00:09 EST Plateau Busting http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5275139 I worked out with my trainer today. After measurements I found out I'd only lost an inch in a month of working out almost every day and tracking every bite of food. According to my body media band I've had an 800-1600 calorie deficit every day and the results? Nada. I had hoped that at least I'd have lost inches even though the pounds are not exactly falling off. An inch is an inch I guess but so disappointing.

My trainer is awesome though. She changed my workout to something... Tue, 5 Mar 2013 23:03:10 EST Stressing about Stressing http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5268723 Don't know what's gotten into me this week. Actually I do. Finding out I owe a ton of taxes and now have to have even more taken out of my check so I don't owe again next year started a cavalcade of stress that is reeking havoc with my weight loss.

I never really understood the nuances of taxes and why we can't just have a set rate so we could plan for it instead of all the frenzy of looking for deductions to save us from bankruptcy. Who goes to the store and has to negotiate h... Fri, 1 Mar 2013 15:00:00 EST The Biggest Loser and Math Class http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5256963 I watched The Biggest Loser this week and I could sure relate to their frustration. It also put my own situation into a little better perspective. So often the contestants pull ridiculous weight loss numbers...and other weeks are like this one where none of them did. These people are working out with trainers for 2 hour sessions, 3 times a day, 7 days a week. According to the math instructor they should never have a week of 1 or 2 pounds weight loss.

So, if we go strictly by ... Wed, 20 Feb 2013 02:34:22 EST H.I.T. Training - Actual Calorie Burn? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5253248 I do HIT training (High Intensity Training) 2-3 times a week. When my son first talked me into it I thought he certainly had one of the craziest ideas I'd heard. It made no sense to me that a 15-20 minute session 3 times a week would do more good than the hours at the gym. I was wrong...though I still work out at the regular gym also. If nothing else it has increased my strength dramatically and done more for my physical shape than 2 years of aerobics.

My question is...how many... Sun, 17 Feb 2013 03:57:44 EST Sunny Doldrums http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5252255 Sun...for the first time in weeks. Being subject to pretty severe seasonal depression seeing the sun today was so refreshing. I met one of my sons at the gym and it was fantastic. I must be solar powered!

Winter is my worst time of year for gaining weight and I'm probably not alone in this issue. It's weird how I made the association between food and making myself feel better. Did it ever really work?? Hmmm, let's see. Gray and dismal out. Eat toast. Still feel bad. Eat m... Sat, 16 Feb 2013 04:12:56 EST On the Road Again http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5251075 Am finally losing again! I work a week on/week off schedule of 12 hour shifts. It was so frustrating losing weight on my off week only to gain it back on my work week. Same pounds over and over again. So the new strategy worked...making sure I did some activity every hour, regulating what I ate at work, logging my foods again and I added a 20 minute brisk walk through the hospital on my lunch break. Wow! I lost 2 pounds on my work week. Yeah! So hopefully I will continue to lose now t... Fri, 15 Feb 2013 01:01:19 EST Breaking the Plateau http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5247234 So I've been about the same weight for the last 2 months. Very frustrating! I have a new scale that measures BMI and lean muscle mass. The water measurement is pretty useless since it's says I'm 20% water whether I'm dehydrated or swollen up like a blow fish. But the other measurements are helpful. They may not be totally accurate but at least they show me the trends. According to the trend I'm lowering my BMI and increasing lean muscle mass almost daily so it makes sense that the weigh... Tue, 12 Feb 2013 02:45:03 EST My First Blog: The Journey http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5240464 Wow! What a journey this has been so far. Having struggled with weight all my life I'm bound and determined to actually conquer the fat and live my life as the healthy and beautiful person I know I can be.

I started on my first diet at age 10, joining TOPS with my mother. I almost wish I had not done that, though the special time spent with mom was awesome. The problem was, however, that it set me up to think of myself as a fat person at a very young age when I was really only ... Wed, 6 Feb 2013 16:01:36 EST
