LOVEPURPLE2's SparkPeople Blog LOVEPURPLE2's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Never thought I would do this..... I love Dunkin' Donuts. I like them best because they have substance (unlike Krispy Kreme). My favorite are the cake ones with the pink frosting. 473 I could easily eat two in one sitting then go back later for more. When I got serious about my journey, I knew I needed to cut back on all the sweets I love to eat. Cold turkey and deprivation are not my strong suits. 24

Someone in my office is always bringing in doughnuts every week. I started out slowl... Fri, 30 Aug 2013 21:02:40 EST Today was a good day Today was a good day. It was my son's (my baby) first day of college. When I was getting ready for work, I decided to wear a blouse that I haven't worn in a while. It fit good. My husband told me I looked hot. 18 A few people at work made the comment that it looked like I was losing weight. Yup, I've dropped 7 pounds since May, thank you very much. 9 I did good on my eating and got all my water in. 91 It wasn't perfect, there were some bumps......bu... Mon, 26 Aug 2013 23:28:20 EST Thank you This blog is not for me, but for everyone who has supported me. I have not met any of you, but you all are my friends. Thank you for the advice. Thank you for the support.

We are all on this journey together and we can all understand what each of us is going through. That's priceless.

I truly feel that I am a better person now and I will continue to grow and I have all of you to thank for this. 304 Sat, 24 Aug 2013 23:25:21 EST Pondering thought As some of you know, I've been sick since last week with an ear infection AND a sinus infection. I've been taking it easy so I can get healthy faster.

I haven't exercised and because of the medication, my appetite has been non-existent. I would eat because I knew I had to, but I got no where close to my 1,500 daily calorie intake. I did continue to drink my water.

So, without any effort, I lost 2 pounds this week.......Curious.

The thought I'm pondering... Mon, 19 Aug 2013 19:40:23 EST Sidelined I finally got into a rhythm with my working out and strength training. The soreness had finally lessened.

I came home from work yesterday feeling really tired. I figured it was from the 8,349 steps I did in high heels. 244 Part way through dinner, I just didn't feel right. Throat was scratchy when I went to bed. Throat was worse accompanied by a cough in the morning, feeling like my head was going to pop and my get up and go, never showed up. Great.... 198</e... Fri, 16 Aug 2013 00:38:37 EST Tired of eating So, I began my journey at 1,200 calories per day with exercise. I would drop a pound then gain it back. I increased my calories to 1,500. I appear to be having success with my weight lose, but I'm eating ALL day. I rotate my breakfasts, which consist of either three eggs and a banana or a bowl of oatmeal, a light yogurt and a banana or a bowl of cereal and a banana. I take several pieces of fruit, string cheese, yogurt, granola bar and almonds to snack on in-between meals. My lunch is a... Mon, 5 Aug 2013 23:24:29 EST Just when I thought I had it figured out...... I'm feeling a little blue right now. 39 For those of you who know me, you know that I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism by my regular doctor about a month ago. That was great news to me. I figured they would give me some medication and the weight would come FLYING off.... 244 Jump to today. Went to a thyroid specialist. She said while my numbers are a little high, that was not the reason for my weight gain 15 and I didn't need to be put on meds. 40... Fri, 26 Jul 2013 18:58:02 EST Vacation is over..... Well, it's back to reality. Our Cruising vacation was wonderful. I would like to say I was more relaxed now, but that is hardly the case. We were on the move for most of the trip. I went over 10,000 steps twice and went well over 5,000 steps six other times. I need to go back to work so I can rest!! I'm very happy to say that I did not go "overboard" 246 with my eating and only gained 2 pounds. I'm ready to get back to the structure of my eating plan and working out. If I ... Mon, 22 Jul 2013 12:50:54 EST Anxiety is setting in Clothes shopping. I've always hated it, even when I was thin. My birthday was in May and I received gift cards from a local department store. I haven't used them yet. We leave for our vacation next week. I don't have any summer clothes that fit. I have to go shopping tomorrow. Just the thought of it is making me anxious. My husband always points out really cute outfits that won't look as cute in the "bigger" sizes. I need to go shopping tomorrow. The thought of having to buy clothes... Fri, 5 Jul 2013 00:52:48 EST New Leader This was an interesting weekend for me on SP. Yesterday I was approved to become the new team leader of my home town team. The second I read the Congratulations email, fear overtook me. 39 It is a HUGE responsibility to lead people. Would I be able to do it well? 40 Would they follow or leave me stranded some where??? 246 Well, I'm going to give it my best and rely on the great leaders, of the teams I am currently a member of, for guidance. 58... Mon, 1 Jul 2013 00:07:37 EST Finally, the truth comes out So I've been dealing with some serious health issues since January 2013. Added to this, I had a rapid weight gain of almost 20 pounds in a span of only a couple of months for no apparent reason. I've seen a variety of speciality doctors that range from a cardiologist to a pulminary specialist. The lung guy diagnosed me with asthma. None of these doctors (all men) could explain the weight gain. They said it was due to my age. Thanks. On a hunch, my sister suggested I go to an allergist. ... Thu, 27 Jun 2013 19:02:04 EST Wonder why I'm so confused??? So, when I started I weighed in at 175. During that first week, I ate a lot healthier but really didn't exercise. I weighed in after the first week and I had lost 3 pounds!!! 172!! 244 Week 2 begins and I'm continuing my eating, but I'm motivated so I rev up my workouts. Weigh in day, I'm psyched cause I knew I had done well. I GAINED A POUND!!! 173 39 Okay, new week. I continue with my eating and exercise. Weigh in day......a little nervous. Not a darn th... Mon, 24 Jun 2013 17:16:37 EST Hodge Podge to clear my head I've had a difficult two weeks. Both my kids got all four wisdom teeth taken out (it seemed like a good idea at the time!!). My son graduated from high school, my husband had a birthday, and Father's day. I had trouble keeping up with my good eating habits and water intake. I put on a pound and was totally stressed out. The next weigh in, I didn't lose any weight. I got frustrated and thought about giving up. I leave on vacation in three weeks and really wanted to be lean and mean and ... Fri, 21 Jun 2013 21:20:50 EST Totally Bummed Weighed myself today. After having a great first week and losing 3 pounds, I gained a pound this week. I don't know why. I stuck to my calories, I exercised more.......
Totally baffled and totally bummed. 24 I'm trying really hard to not be discouraged and am telling myself the ol' muscle is heavy than fat, but it's not working. Mon, 3 Jun 2013 12:33:45 EST Thank you Spark Today when I cleaned up after dinner, I got comfortable watching "The Next Food Network Star" with my husband. I knew I needed to exercise but the coach felt SOOOOOO good!!! The fact that I needed to report my exercise for the day and account for my steps and that I knew I would let my Spark friends and teammates down if I stayed on the couch, got me off the couch. I exercised for 40 minutes and burned lots of calories. Three weeks ago, I would have stayed on that couch and blown off my e... Mon, 3 Jun 2013 00:27:52 EST To eat or not to eat Breakfast There's a saying "For Breakfast, Eat like a King; For Lunch, Eat like a Prince; For Dinner, Eat like a Pauper". Meaning, breakfast should be your biggest meal of the day and dinner your smallest. This doesn't work for me. I'm not a morning eater. I used to skip breakfast all together, but man, would I make up for it at lunch. My new style of eating has me eating a small but hardy breakfast consisting of under 300 calories. I have been keeping myself from hitting the vending machine by b... Thu, 30 May 2013 18:55:15 EST My new obsession I used to spend hours on the Internet wandering mindlessly around. Now I log onto Spark and meet new people and learn new things. I like it a lot. 41

I rode my spin bike again today. Anyone who has ever ridden a bike more than once will relate to my next sentence. OUCH, I forgot how sore you get in the beginning!!! HAHAHA

My day was good. Went back to work after being off since last week. It was hard, but I made it through the day. I did really well ... Wed, 29 May 2013 22:45:54 EST Spinning Bike I'm so excited that I have discovered yet another plus to Spark. Thanks, to one of my teammates, MUDDER91, who steered me in this direction. 304

I rode my spinning bike today for the first time in I can't remember how long. I forgot how much of a "release" mechanism it is. I put my headphones on, set my ipod to my special made bike playlist and started pedaling. I closed my eyes and just let the music take me away. I only rode for 30 minutes/12 miles today becaus... Tue, 28 May 2013 15:06:56 EST
