LOVE2LIVE!'s SparkPeople Blog LOVE2LIVE!'s Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community counting my blessings Well, this year is coming to a close. It's been a not so great year for me, but I am blessed. I had my first ever surgery and came out successful. It was more complicated than anticipated, one of my masses was double in size than was estimated and my surgery took 4 hours instead of 2.5 like we were told. But, I do not have cancer. They were officially diagnosed as "no signs of malignancy" growths. Whew. Thank God!
A year ago this month a house my dh and I bought to fix up burnt down ove... Mon, 20 Dec 2010 18:44:51 EST One week Well Sparkfriends, in one week I will be going in for surgery. I haven't shared, but I have 2 very large masses in the right side of my thyroid and some masses in the left side of my sinuses and they all need to come out. So I will be having surgery to remove the whole right side of my thyroid and since my surgeon is a ENT she'll be removing the masses in my sinuses as well at the same time. I am a nervous wreck, I've never ever ever had surgery before. I am also nervous because there is a po... Wed, 24 Nov 2010 12:16:53 EST I'm lost I'm feeling lost here on SP. Some of the teams I used to be comfortable on are so big and intimidating now. I don't even know if there's a BLC going on at the moment. Anyone have a team they'd recommend, I need some support if I'm going to get out of this slump.
I did not walk the marathon, I didn't want to risk making my stress fracture worse. I cannot wait until I can get back to running.
I'm having a CT scan next week and then surgery probably in 3 weeks after that or so. The r... Fri, 29 Oct 2010 09:56:29 EST stress fracture Well sadly I got the official diagnosis of what I already knew, I have a stress fracture in my left tibia. And the detroit marathon is this Sunday. :( No way I can run it, but I may chance walking it. I've already paid the $80 entry fee.
I've got some other health issues but I'm not really ready to share just yet. I've been eating to soothe myself and it's time to make better choices for my health. I can only do this for myself.
It helps my sister is getting married in January and... Wed, 13 Oct 2010 08:32:00 EST a quick update Just wanted to update!
I have been training for my first full marathon and I had to take a 3 week leave from running due to injury :( I thought it was shin splints but after 2 weeks off the pain was still there so I went and had my leg Xrayed and the Xray came back neg for a fracture....but they still want to do a bone scan to be sure there's no fracture but I am not sure on having that test done. I did ease back into running this week and kept it at 1/2 the distance I was doing, so tod... Sun, 22 Aug 2010 14:14:43 EST coming clean I wish I had more time to sit here and re read some of my old blogs. (two kids I've found is quadruple the work of just one!)
I used to be sooooo committed to eating right! I wish I could pinpoint where I've went wrong, what made me veer off the path...but I cannot I just don't know? Next month I will have been at this journey for 4 years. And in 4 years I've lost 70ish lbs, gained 60 and birthed a 9.5lb baby at home like I planned for, and ran 2 half marathons! Yet, I wake up every day... Wed, 28 Jul 2010 09:17:18 EST been MIA I don't know why I lost my spark. I just stopped caring, I was tired of it all. I stopped checking in with my team, with my friends. Well, I think I am ready to come back. I need to stop the cycle before I find myself with a lot of weight to lose. As of right now, I've kept it to about 10lbs. My 30th birthday is in 2 months (from today) and I want to be healthy, fit, active, and of course I want to look great too hehe.
I've signed up for my first full marathon in October, so I've got lo... Tue, 20 Jul 2010 14:26:40 EST my half marathon I've been so busy, but I wanted to update about my 1/2 marathon finish this past weekend. I finished my 3rd half marathon (second one running it) on Saturday and I finished in 2 hours and 23 minutes! I am so proud, it was a nice day and while the course was kinda boring I did it and am happy and proud! Tue, 13 Apr 2010 22:48:54 EST honesty I need to be honest with myself.

I can no longer bake for my friends or family. I cannot put loaves of quick bread in my freezer. I cannot have it in my house. It's ok. My friends and family know I can bake cookies and quick bread. They will live without me providing these items to them. If I MUST, I can stop at a store on the way over somewhere and pick up some from a bakery to give to someone.

Chocolate chips are not meant to be eaten by the handful out of the bag. <... Mon, 15 Mar 2010 00:12:33 EST week 8 P90X Well I cannot believe I've stuck it out 8 weeks, after this week I will have completed phase 2 and have only phase 3 before I am a "p90X grad". Pretty cool! My dh works with men who gave up on the program after only 3 weeks, and I've stuck with it! I will admit, I am ready for a break because between that and my running it's a lot....but it's still a good program and I think at the end of this week I need to take some progress pics to compare and see how my definition is coming along. Tue, 2 Mar 2010 21:21:49 EST March, in like a lion....out like a..... My goal for March is to lose the weight I've gained while backsliding, continue to tone up starting with week 8 of P90X tomorrow, and continue on with my 1/2 marathon training schedule. Looking forward to a great month, and it's so nice to have February behind me! Sun, 28 Feb 2010 20:12:09 EST SPRING challenge This Challenge Runs All Day Friday the 26th of Feb through All Day Tuesday Mar 2nd...

Every point counts...So Keep track...NO ZEROS for Anyone (Unless of course you are excused for some reason)...We are looking for 100% PARTICIPATION...Even if you don't do it all...Surely you will do at least one part on one of these days...Everyone should report SOME points.

Let the Challenge BEGIN!!!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~
SPRING IS ALMOST HE... Fri, 26 Feb 2010 21:28:08 EST small victories Well I've had no change in my weight in 2 weeks now, which is probably a good thing with all of my kids' birthday parties and cake and ice cream galore around here. I admit I was still disappointed today with the scale, but shrugged it off to start my day.
I had to run to costco, and was thinking of reasons to buy the giant vat of organic animal crackers they sell there....could give some to my daughter, could try them out with my son.....but the motivation behind me wanting to buy the t... Wed, 17 Feb 2010 14:09:29 EST food as only fuel The last 3 weeks of being on BLC12's extreme team have been awesome! I am on a team of people who seem to be the most disciplined, focused and goal oriented people I think I've ever met on Spark. We all have to share our food and exercise trackers, so I get the opportunity to see what they are eating and how much they are exercising, and even their daily (and weekly) calorie deficits! It truly is a awesome team! Day after day they seem to be so focused, some burning upwards of 1000 calories a... Sun, 31 Jan 2010 06:54:54 EST Balance So I was sitting here online and nursing my baby and I was watching the Biggest Loser where are they now special (again---yes the one I am in!!) and it came to the part where they showed Eric, the winner who lost over 200lbs in a season....only to gain all his weight back. It got me thinking about what a balancing act this is.....
When Bob (Eric's trainer) came to see Eric, Eric of course was ashamed that he'd let himself regain the weight he worked so hard to lose...and he told Bob that... Tue, 19 Jan 2010 00:08:19 EST the next 12 weeks I've made some decisions, set some goals. I've decided to run the Martian 1/2 marathon on April 10th. So I've got 3 months to train for it. I will be following the Jeff Galloway training, because I like that it's a 3 day a week running schedule and I want to focus on more strength training right now also. I've got the P90X dvds here also, I am going to give one a whirl tomorrow. I don't have a chin up bar, but maybe I'll buy the resistance bands to use instead? I'm not sure on that yet. I am ... Sun, 10 Jan 2010 22:59:40 EST me, extreme?? I am shocked, proud and happy I've been chosen to be part of the BLC12's "extreme team"!! I am having mixed emotions about it. But this is the push I wanted that day when I decided to apply. I wanted to have someone tell me again that I HAVE to log my food. No more excuses, just do it. I've been sabotaging myself for too long, since my pregnancy when I stopped logging my food and my baby's nearly 11 months old now. Why oh why I just keep thinking I don't want to, I don't need to, blah blah bl... Sun, 3 Jan 2010 19:10:38 EST 2 years ago...looking back Two years ago this month I was at goal weight (135ish) and was coordinating flying out to LA for my Health Magazine "I did it!" page photo shoot with family Christmas party schedules. Wow, I cannot believe that was 2 years ago already. I want to reflect on what I've accomplished and done in the last 2 years.
Dec 07: Photo shoot in LA, felt and looked great!
April 08: Took my daughter to Disney World for a week (a personal goal in itself) and didn't gain weight while there either!... Thu, 10 Dec 2009 08:34:03 EST I was on TV! Wow, I was watching the Biggest Loser where are they now special and a part caught my attention when they were showing the people who ran the 1/2 marathon here in Detroit back in October. Watching, I thought in my head....wouldn't that be cool if I could see myself? haha
And then it happened!!!! Right before the girl from the green team finishes I see MYSELF run across the tv!!!!
Here's the episode, I am near the 70 min mark in the funny knit hat!!!!
Wed, 2 Dec 2009 21:50:52 EST I was on TV! My forerunner says I finished in 1:06:34 with a average pace of 10:27min/mile. I am happy and proud! I hope everyone has a healthy and happy Thanksgiving! Thu, 26 Nov 2009 11:38:53 EST YES! Goal! I reached my goal weight of getting at or below my pre pregnancy weight! My son is 9.5 months and I've now lost all the 60lbs I gained while pregnant with him! I've changed my ticker to reflect the fact that I'd like to maintain my weight in a 5lb range for now. I maintained my weight for about a year before getting pregnant with my son, I plan on doing the same right now before we may consider adding a 3rd child to our family. So, my work is not over, maintaining can be harder than losing! Wed, 25 Nov 2009 09:15:36 EST My dream came true! Yesterday I accomplished a major goal. I ran my first half marathon. I did it. I ran the whole 13.1 miles without stopping once, not even for a potty break or to walk. I took some sips of water but continued running thru those. I did the Detroit Flagstar Marathon 1/2 Marapthon and it was my second time attempting this race. My first go at it was in 2007, when I injured myself training and had to walk the whole race. I finished that year in 3 hours 16 minutes. Not too bad for walking 13.1 mil... Mon, 19 Oct 2009 08:29:30 EST Self Reminder AN ALWYN FAT LOSS RANT
By Alwyn Cosgrove
This week I’ve heard more excuses as to why people are not losing fat than I have ever heard in my life. I have literally heard people tell their trainers, “I’m following the nutrition program exactly, but instead of an egg white omelet for breakfast, I have a muffin and a latte.” Hmmm…not “exactly” the same thing, is it?
So I thought this would be a good time to share some of my ‘wisdom” with those of you still looking for t... Wed, 26 Aug 2009 07:38:28 EST 6 months 6 months ago today, I went in to 41 weeks 5 days pregnant! The labor started off very mild, I did house chores and cooked dinner thru the mild contractions. I wasn't really exactly sure I was in labor at the time. But at just over 8am the next morning, I was holding my new baby boy, and my dream of having a home waterbirth came true!
Here I am, 6 months later. I've lost about 50 of the 60 pounds I gained. My baby is growing beautifully, and he's still exclus... My goal was 12lbs, so I beat that.
I will post my overall results once they are all in and tallied. As of last week I was the biggest loser in 1st place for my team, the Orange Blossoms.
