Sun, 21 Sep 2014 10:09:59 EST Vacation http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5782773 We had a lovely almost week in Savannah, GA. Weather mostly cooperated, although it was hot and humid the entire time. Woke up this morning at home to 37 degrees!

Savannah is made up of 21 squares with houses from different design periods: colonial, Victorian, Lots of history and ghosts (I guess) as some of the buildings are built on graves that contained the bodies of those that died from disease.
We rode the tour buses most days, getting on and off at various stops, and do... Fri, 19 Sep 2014 07:30:02 EST Wednesday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5777780 Yesterday was a pretty good day. Nothing crazy but pretty calm.

Went out to lunch (truck) with a coworker. This is an event that they have every Wednesday from July - September. I wanted to go to one truck in particular that had been on Food Truck Race on Foodnetwork a few seasons ago. Anyway, they made yummy grilled cheese sandwiches. We ate at a picnic table. It was lovely out.

Had a great workout with my trainer. He said that he underestimated me. Ha!
Had me doi... Thu, 11 Sep 2014 08:36:10 EST Recharging Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5775696 The whole weekend was pretty good. Saturday was errands and sitting by the pool.

Yesterday I didn't leave the house! Started out thinking that we'd do a few errands and decided that they could be done at another time. So.......

Worked out for over an hour. It was tough. I did some high intensity/low impact DVD workouts and then some ST. 65 minutes and lots of sweat later I was done. Mon, 8 Sep 2014 08:42:32 EST Still a slug http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5774175 I am having a hard time getting out of this slump that I'm in. I haven't been exercising much. I think I'm in a bit of a depr***** you can fill in the blanks. I hate this time of year for a few reasons and I'm really missing my mother. I think helping out with my aunt and uncle these last few weeks has really hit home. I'm just kind of blue.
Today I had great plans to get in a workout and only did 10 mins on the treadmill due to some computer issues. I know that I should have left the c... Today was a lovely day and we spent the afternoon hanging by the pool. 237

Overall, August was an okay month. I had some ups and some downs.
One week was a vacation and week and another was a h*ll week at work.
Exercise-wise it was probably a B-. I get in a groove and I fall out of it.
I'm just floundering.
I was doing great two weeks ago and three days of not doing good undid all my hard work. I've got to get myself in the mindset to do this.

I know that there's no secret to it, it's just hard work and small steps. I'm going to do it!!

On other notes: took my u... Sat, 30 Aug 2014 20:22:09 EST Weekend was better http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5767355 I am glad that I made it through last week and that I took Friday off. Originally DH thought he would too but didn't. 211 I was happy for that. Just wanted to go at my own pace and do what I wanted to do. Had a great workout and then spent 2 hours getting food into the house. The Market Basket (grocery) drama continues and I had to go three places to get everything that I needed.
Finally got home around 2, ate lunch, and crashed. Made dinner for my aunt/uncle.

S... Tue, 26 Aug 2014 12:25:47 EST Hoping for Calm Today http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5764085 This week has been very stressful at work. Long story short - I have to redo a coworker's work because the version of software my company is implementing was rolled back and my coworker is on vacation. I did get some help from another coworker but he works very slowly so I did most of it.
I have been glued to my desk since Friday. Yesterday I finished the main CBT and it is being reviewed now. The plan is to get it posted by noon for the rollout tomorrow. I just want it to be done. <e... Thu, 21 Aug 2014 08:11:55 EST My Week http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5760733 The first minutes, hour, day, week you fill in the blank really kills the lovely feeling of vacation. For me the first day back was pretty good. Very busy catching up so the day passed. The rest of the week wasn't good. Very stressful although there were some bright spots.

Work and general anxiety over my uncle's impending surgery was making it hard to focus. Should have worked out but really didn't.
Wednesday - my uncle came through surgery fabulously and told everyone it was... Sat, 16 Aug 2014 08:12:34 EST Last Day of Vacation http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5756739 Today is the last day of our 2-week staycation. 39
It's been a wonderful 2 weeks. We've stayed, we've gone places and seen things, visited with family and friends. Made some decisions about things. All good!

We took a shopping trip on Thursday to some outlets in NH that opened last year. I liked them. Not being a big shopper, that was a big thing. I bought a few things for the fall (UGH) but didn't get carried away. Nothing brings home the good, bad, and the ugly ... It’s an artisan’s village with many galleries and shops and lots of restaurants.

We walked down to a non-tourist beach and took in the sights. The weather was beautiful and there was a slight breeze. We followed a trail along the beach and onto some rocks for another view. Weather wasn't great but we made the best of it. My friend came over on Saturday and we had a lot of fun catching up!
Sunday was a lazy day. I watched a movie and hubby cleaned the garage. That was nice.

Today is week 2 of vacation. Last week we didn't do a lot of leisurely things other than our trip to Boston so this week we plan to... My goddaughter stayed over night and we've been catching up. She's 17 now and such a nice young lady. Very caring and easy going.

Last night we invited her grandparents over for dinner (my aunt/uncle). We had a nice meal and then looked at old photos and laughed. Tue, 22 Jul 2014 09:30:46 EST Training http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5741004 Yesterday was another session with the trainer. He's very cautious with my back (which is good) but is also frustrating. I feel like yesterday's session was more like my sessions with the old trainer. We spent half of the time doing balance exercises and a few where he was judging my "issues." He told me that last week while doing lunges that I grimaced. Of course, I wasn't aware of that. I told him that I have so many aches and pains that come and go that I mostly ignore them.
Anyway...... Because of that I knew that I wouldn't get a lot of steps yesterday when my friend was over so I pushed myself to get my workout in early.

First treadmill walk/jog, then 2 short kettlebell workouts from youtube and then some Wii just for fun. Mon, 14 Jul 2014 11:58:07 EST Tracking New and Old and a major accomplishment http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5737321 I've been tracking the usual - food and calories and the other day my trainer came up with something new: balance. On WiiFit you can do a simple test that measures your weight, bmi, and balance every day. I care about the first two but not every day. The balance is something that I am going to track every day.
I've noticed that some days my balance is better than others.
I've only tracked it two days but on Friday i was leaning more to the right and today I was almost perfectly b... Sat, 24 May 2014 07:36:46 EST Workouts and other things http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5700517 I have really gotten complacent with my "workouts". They have been short and non-sweat provoking. 40
This week I decided that I would get off my butt and get moving and really burn some calories. Also I told myself that I would meet my step goal every day (10,000 steps).
Typically I work from home twice a week so I decided that I'd do one of my Chris Freytag strength training workouts the two days that I am home and that would compliment my session with the trainer. <BR... On a positive note, we have just about cleaned out the first floor of my mother's house. There is still furniture and I'm trying to find a home for it but man are these donation places picky. Many only take small items (up to an end table) and many don't have the means to make on demand pickups.
Funny thing - one of the signs was left up from the estate sale and a lady came by on Sunday while we were cleaning. It went okay but the weather didn't help. Then after the sales people removed their tables, it left all this "junk" on the floor. Thu, 17 Apr 2014 07:08:46 EST Goals for the rest of April http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5672009 We have gone through everything at my mother's house and are ready for the estate sale. It is schedule for the weekend after Easter. This is nothing left that I have to do except shred paper and put away things at my house that I brought from my mother's. Neither of those things have hard deadlines so I decided today that the next two plus weeks I am going to come up with some new goals. All are very obtainable.

Track everything I eat, every day. 265

Exercis... Mon, 14 Apr 2014 12:15:09 EST Productive Saturday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5670972 Yesterday was a beautiful day but alas I wasn't outside much.
Another day cleaning at my mom's house but we are ready to call it done until after the estate sale. Today we are going up in our attic to dig out a few things we want to sell and then we'll bring them to my mom's and do a little vacuuming.

I was bummed last night when I realized that I missed a free shredding event. It was hosted by a local credit union. I did see on the schedule that there's another one the weeke... Sun, 13 Apr 2014 08:20:07 EST Finally Something Good Happened http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5670034 I don't know if I mentioned it previously but after my mother's funeral, we realized that the cement planter that had been on my father's grave for 21 years was gone. We suspected that the DPW destroyed it when they plowed the snow to open the grave for my mother.
I called and asked and was told that they "didn't know anything about it." I told the person that I just wanted to know and that if they broke it that they could tell me. Still they knew nothing. It bothered me because I was pr... Fri, 11 Apr 2014 19:51:52 EST Good Day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5668795 Last night I realized that I had a good day. My day went well. I went into the office and many people were out so it was quiet and no one bothered me.
Had a good session with the trainer. We did some balance exercises and some strength and cardio exercises. It was a well-rounded session. I am still trying to figure out a way to make our schedules work so that I can have two sessions a week.
I watched what I ate all day and managed to stay in range, making good choices.
Also s... Thu, 10 Apr 2014 08:14:37 EST Laughs and Tears http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5667678 My dear friend's mother passed away on Friday. She had been suffering from COPD for the last few years. She was a petite lady, with a dry sense of humor. My friend has been caring for her mother for the last year or so. She would stop every night and help her mother get ready for bed and spend several hours on the weekend with her.
She was a great daughter and caregiver.

Today was her funeral. DH and I went to pay our respects today and last night at the wake. It was an intima... Tue, 8 Apr 2014 20:28:05 EST Weekend http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5665873 Another weekend has come and gone. We tried to stay away from "the house" but ended up spending some time there both days. We are starting to come to the end of our pass through the house and taking things that have sentimental value or that we can use.
I gave my aunt and uncle a couch and recliner. I want people to have the things that they can use. I don't need the money from selling them.

I brought home two lovely ceramic pieces that my mother made for the garden/yard. On... Sun, 6 Apr 2014 18:05:46 EST 10,000 Steps! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5663188 Yesterday was a crazy day. Did get in lots of walking though.
There were two firefighters killed in Boston last week. One was from Watertown, where I work. Yesterday was the funeral. There were many street closings and the traffic was slow.
Around 10am we went out front of our building to pay respect to the firefighter as his funeral precession passed our building. It was very moving.

We took a coworker to lunch and walked to the restaurant. Didn't get to the gym but did... Thu, 3 Apr 2014 06:15:28 EST
