Tue, 8 Jul 2014 21:43:32 EST July Goals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5731496 The month of June came to a close and with it came the closing on my mother's house. Under calories most days. We have gone out to eat a few more times than we should and I'm trying to get a handle on that. It's all me, not hubby. He'll eat anything I cook. I just have to cook. LOL!

The house sale is going to happen by the end of June. Hopefully at the end of the week. I really want to just do it and move on. All systems go for an end of June closing. 224

Saturday we hosted a family birthday party. It was a lovely day! Very relaxed and enjoyable. Mon, 9 Jun 2014 07:53:05 EST Derailed by Stress http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5711033 I am finding that lately I am not able to make good choices when stressed by a particular event. My first inclination is to eat and not make good choices. Yesterday was the perfect example. My schedule was tight and I skipped the gym. (First mistake)

In the afternoon, I got a call from the realtor about the home inspection. That set me off. Some of the things that they ask for are crazy. We shared some laughs and good food. We also talked about getting together next year. Cool!

Last night was a tough trip home. Our flight was delayed due to bad weather in Boston. Wed, 28 May 2014 08:16:14 EST Vacation! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5701918 Finally a few days away. Dare I say vacation??

Yesterday we met some friends who live near the Columbus airport. We were trying to figure out how long we knew them. Maybe 15 years. We met online as we collected the same type if cat figurines. My friend collects real cats too she has 14! She actually rescued many of them as people dropped them in her yard. She's had them all 'fixed' and provides a good home.

Today is a down day (think I need a few of those).
Hav... Sat, 24 May 2014 07:36:46 EST Workouts and other things http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5700517 I have really gotten complacent with my "workouts". They have been short and non-sweat provoking. 40
This week I decided that I would get off my butt and get moving and really burn some calories. Also I told myself that I would meet my step goal every day (10,000 steps).
Typically I work from home twice a week so I decided that I'd do one of my Chris Freytag strength training workouts the two days that I am home and that would compliment my session with the trainer. <BR... Lots of errands, lots of money spent, LOL, and lunch out with hubby.

My mother's house is just about ready for the open house next week. AND I don't have to do anything to make it ready. I hired someone to do the final dusting, cleaning, spiffing up. That happens tomorrow. Fri, 9 May 2014 12:47:41 EST Quick Update http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5689494 Yesterday I took the day off from work. I had dental surgery and thought that I could use the rest of the day to work at my mother's house. Didn't happen.
I went down there early to pack the car with things for Salvation Army. They take a lot and I wanted to get it out of the house. Of course, they don't help you upload it so I was dragging these boxes around.
My dental surgery went well but the doctor told me to rest the rest of the day and I was bummed. The dumpster arrived and I... Wed, 7 May 2014 06:44:05 EST Crunch Time http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5688371 This is a bittersweet time for me. On a positive note, we have just about cleaned out the first floor of my mother's house. There is still furniture and I'm trying to find a home for it but man are these donation places picky. Many only take small items (up to an end table) and many don't have the means to make on demand pickups.
Funny thing - one of the signs was left up from the estate sale and a lady came by on Sunday while we were cleaning. My DH told her that the sale was over but i... It's not that far - about an hour away but I think it'll give us a much needed and deserved break from all the madness.

Yesterday I spent sometime cleaning up from the estate sale. It went okay but the weather didn't help. Then after the sales people removed their tables, it left all this "junk" on the floor. Mostly because so much is going on in my life that I can't get out of my own way sometimes. Hubby said "You are not a quitter, " and suggested that we dedicate the race to our parents.

So that's what we did. We marked their initials on our bibs and hit the road.
The weather here was raw and damp with showers. Yucky, in other words! I wore two shirts and a hoodie and wished I had brought gloves. Thu, 10 Apr 2014 08:14:37 EST Laughs and Tears http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5667678 My dear friend's mother passed away on Friday. She had been suffering from COPD for the last few years. She was a petite lady, with a dry sense of humor. My friend has been caring for her mother for the last year or so. She would stop every night and help her mother get ready for bed and spend several hours on the weekend with her.
She was a great daughter and caregiver.

Today was her funeral. Tue, 8 Apr 2014 20:28:05 EST Weekend http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5665873 Another weekend has come and gone. We tried to stay away from "the house" but ended up spending some time there both days. We are starting to come to the end of our pass through the house and taking things that have sentimental value or that we can use.
I gave my aunt and uncle a couch and recliner. Did get in lots of walking though.
There were two firefighters killed in Boston last week. One was from Watertown, where I work. Yesterday was the funeral. There were many street closings and the traffic was slow.
Around 10am we went out front of our building to pay respect to the firefighter as his funeral precession passed our building. It was very moving.

We took a coworker to lunch and walked to the restaurant. Didn't get to the gym but did... Thu, 3 Apr 2014 06:15:28 EST Keeping On http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5659777 The work continues sorting through my mother's house. Yesterday we had an estate sale company come out and assess and tell us what we did and didn't have to do. It's interesting. We were cleaning things out and organizing them and he said we didn't have to do that - that they would. Leaving things in drawers adds to sales as people like to think that they "discovered" something in a drawer or cabinet. Okay............ I still need to go through all the cabinets to find the treasures that my p... Sun, 30 Mar 2014 06:41:25 EST Did you know............ http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5656475 That it is illegal to resell a hearing aid? That is what I was told today. I called the audiologist where my mother got her hearing aid. Asked if I could return it or it could be repurposed. She told me it was illegal to sell a used hearing aid. Then she went on to tell me that I could donate it to them (where it was purchased) and they could use it as a loaner for people whose hearing aid was being repaired. Really? That doesn't make sense to me. If the concern of reselling was due to hygien... Tue, 25 Mar 2014 19:44:03 EST Another Weekend Has Come and Gone http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5654720 This was another busy weekend. At least we had two social engagements Saturday so it wasn't just another weekend spent cleaning.

Yesterday afternoon we went to a reunion of my old department from Wang Labs. You may have heard of it - the second biggest computer company (during the 80s). I started working there in 1983 and left (was laid off in 1990) and are still in touch with many of the people. During it we were chatting and I didn't even feel like I was working hard but yesterday (and today) I am still sore!

Work is really busy. There's lots of work and some political stuff going on (which I try to avoid). I realized that I am a stronger person than I thought. How I react to things and approach situations are not the norm for other people. I thought they were. Not sure where I got this from as both my parents and my brother... Fri, 21 Mar 2014 06:53:21 EST Updates http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5651079 We spent all weekend cleaning at my mother's house. So..... now we are concentrating on getting all the personal /sentimental items out.

Last weekend my cousin and his wife came down and helped out.
