LOLATURTLE's SparkPeople Blog LOLATURTLE's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Post holiday blergs I have the blergs! I'm most just tired though. We had a ton of traffic driving back from family Easter and a wound up, non sleeping kid! I went back and tracked the rest of what i ate yesterday - about 500 cal over for the whole day. That's not that bad though, most days lately I've been coming in a little under the bottom of my range. Prior to tracking again i was probably eating that much every day and three times that on holidays! I'm already back to a great routine today. Whew.... Mon, 17 Apr 2017 10:32:53 EST Am I more mellow? You guys can tell me after a couple of blog posts. 246

WELL HI THERE. I see a few familiar faces around here, which is great!

Where was I... I had my baby girl (Little S) in summer 2015. I lost all my pregnancy weight (all 14 pounds of it) after about 6 weeks, so I originally was awesome with not gaining a lot and then losing that.

However, things I was not prepared for: 1) breastfeeding initially makes you SO HUNGRY OMG 2) ... Wed, 12 Apr 2017 11:03:54 EST 40 Things About Me - getting back into blogging! Stolen from ADARKARA! I used to love blogging on here but I want to start again slowly. HI! 334

And, this is me we're talking about so the answers are going to be LONG. 334

Learn 40 things about your friends and let them learn 40 things about you.

1. Do you like blue cheese?
NOPE. Hate it, never eat it.

2. Have you ever smoked cigarettes?
Never. My grandpa smoked and it contributed hugely to his heart... Fri, 7 Apr 2017 13:33:32 EST Pride and fat pants Well hello. Long time no see! What have I been up to? I took care of my baby. Lost all my pregnancy weight. Went back to work. Quit my job. Took care of my baby some more. Gained all my pregnancy weight plus a little extra. Good, good, bad, good, good, bad. What brought me back? Several things. 1) my dad is on spark people (ADORABLE!). I don't think he has a page or blog, he just tracks. Bu... Sun, 10 Apr 2016 00:15:33 EST baby steps back (SEE WHAT I DID THERE??!!) Hiiiii sparkfriendz!!

Look what I gots:

Heee. Say hi to Little S. She is 3 weeks old. (awwww.)
I spent a lot of my adult years pretty ambivalent about this whole baby thing, but I gotta say... now that she's here? Awesome! I looove her, she's so cute and snoogly.

Turtle Puppy loves her too. It's SO CUTE.

So I am back, a little. Starte... Thu, 9 Jul 2015 10:02:22 EST Aw, nuts For a snack that is!

Calories, protein & fat, low carbs. GENIUS! I discovered this (well, re-discovered) yesterday when I found a partial bag of pistachios in my desk. HEY. NUTS!

Today I have nuts for snacking. 334

Today I think is planned pretty well. I will probably add something to dinner at some point. My calories are still a bit low for today, but better than yesterday, and balanced better.

I randomly decided to check the... Wed, 15 Apr 2015 10:21:16 EST Stop the insanity. Please. I am starting to think doctors work WAAAY too hard at pushing pregnant women (or maybe just fat pregnant women??) to be healthy. Like they're paranoid we won't listen and do healthy things, so they have to tell all kinds of horror stories and generally be terrible and cause me mental problems.

It started in early pregnancy. "Now, because of your ... 'larger size', we want to be careful you don't gain too much weight." Okay. That's so quaint by the way, I know I'm obese.... Mon, 13 Apr 2015 17:33:56 EST I totally have a great excuse this time, I promise No, I will still not be back to tracking every day for a while.

I was last here regularly in October. OMG I MISS YOU GUYS!!! How is everyone?? I'm going to go obsessively check all of your pages!! (But probably not read all your blogs since October sorry!)

Here's how some of THAT went down:

Yay, I ran a 5k! That was my last 5k for a while, I didn't get a Turkey Trot this year... Fri, 3 Apr 2015 12:38:16 EST holding pattern.... I was really not feeling well last week. Didn't get in many swims. Didn't track most of the week.

Weight is holding steady. I finally did some grocery shopping so there's some food in the house. Still need more veggies.

I'm kind of taking it easy, though. Still not feeling great.

Just wanted to say, I did not disappear! Tue, 28 Oct 2014 10:43:09 EST I'm boring which is not news! I'm always boring!

Working. Sleeping. Swimming. Tracking.

Walking Turtle Puppy.

Who is very bad. My new gym routine has altered her usual morning routine, and she has A LOT TO SAY ABOUT THAT.

I get up at 5:00am, go to the pool, swim for 30-40-45-60 minutes (whatever I feel like and/or depending on what time I got there). Shower, come home. Usually I get home just as Mr. Turtle is finishing getting ready for work. And here... Tue, 21 Oct 2014 12:47:28 EST I'm still here! I just tracked my weekend food this morning, but I did pretty well! Too much sodium here and there but really not bad.

Weirdly I seem to be having trouble eating *enough*, which has never happened to me before... I am doing really well with trying to eat MORE healthy foods rather than trying to eat LESS "other stuff." But some of my healthy stuff is really low-cal, so I end up being able to stuff myself at lunch and dinner and still being kind of low on calories! It's good, bu... Mon, 13 Oct 2014 10:06:23 EST how is Turtle Puppy WELL SHE IS ADORABLE, OBVIOUSLY.

Mostly, her tongue (it's spelled TUNG when it's hers) is poking (POOKING) out:

She sleeps a lot because she is lazy and wants to cuddle. Bleh.

Remember how I was all "I am going to recommit in July!" ?

Yeah, no. In July, I was teaching summer camp.

I will just make a very long story very short: NEVER DO THAT.

12-14 hour days, some cute kids but mostly HORRIBLE ones, kids today, they're all going to grow up to be serial killers, etc.

Also a couple weeks before summer camp s... Tue, 7 Oct 2014 12:07:22 EST Rational Numbers/Irrational Numbers The hatred of the scale is going around Spark these days!

For me, I was 262 yesterday morning. 262 at the doctor's office yesterday evening. (!!!) Usually I weigh more, sometimes a LOT more, at night, so I was pretty happy with that. Even though I'd so rather be 250 and dropping...

I got some other numbers yesterday, though. Wed, 2 Jul 2014 10:36:53 EST Funny My last cranky post, when I was feeling stressed and unmotivated and like a failure?

That was my 2nd Sparkiversary. TO THE DAY.

Haaaaa.

I missed my first Sparkiversary. I think it fell in the middle of a long streak of not tracking. I remember thinking a few weeks ago "I should pay attention and do something on my Sparkiversary this year." Well, I did something. I gained weight and crabbed about it. Hahahaha.

I had a week of... I don't kno... Tue, 1 Jul 2014 09:58:24 EST Opposite day! This weekend was the opposite of last weekend.

More stress. Less productivity. No workouts. and UGH, the FOOD.

I'm letting it go, just want to process first.

Don't get me wrong, I did have fun. But I just feel like healthy living everything went to H3LL, and weight has followed.

I need a break from the scale, because it is grouching me out BIG TIME. After two weeks of doing great, working out tons, eating SUPER healthy, I barely lost half a p... Mon, 23 Jun 2014 10:10:49 EST Update; eating habits. bodies. I had a good weekend and didn't eat like a piggy! Sometimes weekends are hard. Getting in some exercise was nice too! I took a nice long swim, then had a late, big breakfast (veggie omelet!) and did some Responsible Adult Things - we ordered some furniture we've been needing for, oh, a year, and went to the bank and stuff like that.

That's my new thing; I am overwhelmed by the list of stuff we want & need to do since buying a house, so instead of curling up on the couch and watc... Tue, 17 Jun 2014 12:01:51 EST Workouts; desk; musings I've been mixing it up this week! I bought some workout DVDs for mornings I don't feel like or don't have time to go to the gym. I'm trying to combat my old "all or nothing" ruts I get into. Sometimes if I don't feel like I have time or energy for an hour workout, I just don't do anything. Which is silly. Some activity is better than none!

So far this week I have:

1) swam for 45 minutes. Pushed myself and got my HR up, burned more calories!
2) did the Spark "... Fri, 13 Jun 2014 09:02:28 EST Monday monday! I had a great swim this morning! My heart rate monitor tells me I am usually quite lazy when swimming and don't burn many calories, so I've been wearing it and pushing myself to get that heart rate up!

Today I did get my max HR higher than past swims, and my average a TINY bit higher. Need to push even MORE next time! I was rewarded with a much nicer calorie burn, hahaha.

And I felt great! I did some much needed stretching, too. I love stretching in the pool. Though... Mon, 9 Jun 2014 11:09:10 EST Project! Long story short- in which I install my Dream SpiceRack My Friday project turned into a two day (ish) project, and then an unexpected project took up the rest of Saturday. So I'm behind and didn't go to ikea (and there was unexpected cheesecake, but more about that later...) but overall I'm having a happy weekend.

The Project:

I love to cook and experiment with new recipes and cuisines. When I have time! So I have developed quite a collection of spices! Way more than fit in commercial spice racks, plus I don't want to gi... Sun, 8 Jun 2014 18:15:36 EST Compelled to update- meet my LOOOOVE! No, not him

Heeee.
Or her

Though of course I LOOOOOOOOVE them too!
No,

This!

Not my Vitamix, the shtuff IN IT! (...although actually, I do LOOOOOOOVE my Vitamix!)

It's what I've taken to calling Pineapple Shtuff, and ... Wed, 4 Jun 2014 21:47:47 EST somewhat That's the kind of day I've had.

"Somewhat" everything. Somewhat on track, somewhat not. Productive, not productive. Feeling sick, feeling okay. and on and on.

Yesterday worked out well - healthy dinner, properly portioned treats, LOTS of water, came in just under the top of my range!

I should probably adjust my range, speaking of, because it's like 1200-1540 calories right now or something insane and horrible. However until I actually LOSE something I'... Wed, 4 Jun 2014 16:21:17 EST Not Ideal is OKAY. IT'S FINE. breathe. repeat. So I definitely ate and drank like a madwoman last weekend. Hahaha. I did get some exercise though! One of my good friends who visited is very into fitness and such lately, so she wanted to go for a run or to the gym while here (the other friend was resistant but that's a different issue...) We ended up going to the pool! She did a triathlon recently and wanted some pointers, I offered to help with what I learned in my swim class last year. It was fun! I don't think we burned a ton of ... Tue, 3 Jun 2014 09:46:51 EST Run, Lola, Run eleventy bazillion blogs since I first started Couch to 5k and/or blogging, and this is the FIRST TIME it occurred to me to use this title????!?!?!?!?!!!?? (though I have never seen the movie) (but seriously!) (also: heh!)

But yeah, I went running today. 334

I'm so glad I started "slowly getting back" two weeks ago, it has made everything easier!!

Basically I took one week of trying to eat better, but without tracking, first. Then I started tr... Tue, 20 May 2014 14:35:42 EST so far, off to a good start! I set my alarm last night, thinking not "I hope I can wake up to go swimming" but "I really want to go swimming." And what do you know... I popped right out of bed and put on my suit! (will have to try this Positive Thinking thing throughout the week...)

Went for a ~hour swim, though I stopped to stretch quite a bit and took quite a few lazy laps. MAN I AM OUT OF SHAAAAPE. Eh, I'll get there. Hehe.

That left me with great energy, so I made a green smoothie (+ pro... Mon, 12 May 2014 16:26:07 EST dusting off the cobwebs... I've officially been gone for a month! Sigh...

That's been four weeks straight of early morning to work, straight to the theater, run ragged til midnight, home, tiny bit of sleep, repeat. Out of those four weeks I had ten days of Early Shift, meaning I had to be at work at 7:00am after working hard until midnight! Including the last three days straight before opening night. Sigh. Even weekends offered no rest - Saturday rehearsals, set building, costume sewing, impossible spec... Tue, 6 May 2014 10:02:46 EST good start... I'm still crazy busy, so I'm sorry I'm not around as much to check in on all of you!! Thank you so much for your comments & support; I know I haven't returned the favor much lately.

Still working on my mindfulness of what works for me right now.

I DID go shopping on Sunday, and instead of getting all excited about all the fresh veggies I would love to prep and cook and feel all healthy about (which would end up rotting in my fridge!) I got practical:

1) tur... Mon, 7 Apr 2014 09:31:01 EST Know thyself I seem to be in a cycle... 9-10 days on, 9-10 days off.

I woke up this morning with mysterious motivation. Packed my lunch and had a healthy breakfast instead of grabbing "whatever."

As I was doing that I was thinking about recent events. I remember not too long about posting about how I was back, and reminding myself that tracking really doesn't take all THAT long. So why haven't I been tracking?

To be honest I was asking myself why I keep not tracking w... Fri, 4 Apr 2014 09:04:38 EST regrets! I had a busy weekend, but it was fun!

That's not what I regret.

I regret lifting weights for the first time in almost 9 months (???!!!!! aaah) the same day I went to an "immersion theater experience" that involved running up and down stairs in a 5 floor "hotel" for like 2 & a half hours. AHHHHH MY LEGS.

(if you're curious about the theater thing, it's this:

%282011_play%29
)

My new gy... Mon, 17 Mar 2014 10:01:19 EST Update: the pool IS AWESOME.

I'm a little annoyed with the rec center.... Apparently when we joined for "the year" yesterday, "the year" starts in May. Which 1 they failed to mention and 2 is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. It's an annual membership, who cares when it starts??? Anyway. So even though I already paid them a couple hundred bucks I was unpleasantly surprised to show up all in my bathing suit and be told I'm not a member. Fortunately I could pay a "partial pro rated" fee tha... Fri, 14 Mar 2014 23:20:26 EST Good day in spite of calories I had a snacky, carb-cravey morning at home, which is always tough.

But we DID go and join the gym. So tomorrow I get to go work out!!!

Then we went out for dinner - Mongolian BBQ!

You really have NO IDEA how much I love Mongolian BBQ. Giant bowl of awesome veggies, so even being over calories got the day, I ended on a high note. We are gonna go there a LOT. So excited.

I also feel super accomplished. Did three loads of laundry, went to the d... Thu, 13 Mar 2014 20:43:43 EST Today was good! Had to eat out for lunch (work thing) but stayed in my ranges. Today I got in 10+ cups of water (wooooo!) and 6 servings of freggies. Wanna get MORE freggies tomorrow, but I feel pretty on track. It feels good! Gym on Thursday - Mr Turtle has to be with me so we can sign up for the family plan and he said he'd work from home so we can go right at 5 to sign up. Also WOOOOOOOO!

As promised, here is a picture of my stupid black eye. This is last week. It's healed now, just want ... Tue, 11 Mar 2014 22:21:48 EST Dear life, can I get a break? Jeez. I tracked today dudes! I'm excited.

I did track for about a week back in early Feb when I first came back.

Then the extra crazy of work became SUPER EXTRA PLUS MEGA crazy. Basically they've been hanging this overseas business trip over my head for over four months. As in, we were originally supposed to leave Dec 6. It's been a total cluster-you-know-what and I basically put my life on hold for January and February. No weekend trips planned. No doctor appointments. ... Mon, 10 Mar 2014 17:32:58 EST WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN??? whoops, I mean, where have *I* been???

Working like a crazy person, mostly. I hate it, but that's a very long boring depressing story. So I will skip it.

OH HI

Still been getting walks with Turtle Puppy, though not as brisk or as long as I would like, because, MAN IT IS COOOOOLLLD out there. AWFUL. I hate it. I am probably dealing with some winter blues.

But I finally hit a wall. I always have to. I was like I AM SICK OF THIS. Of feeling li... Wed, 12 Feb 2014 10:49:48 EST I did not die, and then I made coffee Thank you for all your hilarious comments! I enjoyed them, and I feel better knowing I'm not the only person who is driven batty by this nonsense. MERRY HUMBUG!!

Work is still sucking up most (99%) of my life. I am hanging in there. I haven't been tracking because I haven't had time, other than the 1 hour each night I get to sit down and breathe and spend a little time with Mr. Turtle & Turtle Puppy. I just don't wanna spend that time with my face in a computer. It's... Thu, 19 Dec 2013 10:37:01 EST #136: in which I ruin Christmas Yeah yeah, I suck and have been eating garbage. I'm working on it. Not the point!

I'm here to complain about how people need to calm the heck down. Now-ish.

I am so frustrated by & fed up with the holiday obsession that is happening all around me. Not about food, though. And the stressed people are not the people I am mad at. Wed, 11 Dec 2013 16:44:46 EST Stick Figure Storytime Adventures, part eleventy four I had a great day yesterday with tracking, and only really ate 1 unhealthy thing. Still in range & got in my 8 cups of water. YAAAAY. It feels good to be back on track.

I didn't do as well as I'd hoped with tracking & food over Thanksgiving, but as of this morning I'm 249, so I managed to avoid going back into the 250s, and I'm sure a bit of water weight will come off this week as well.

After all that food all I want to eat is salad, except it's cold. So all I want t... Tue, 3 Dec 2013 12:37:09 EST I'd feel bad if I didn't have an entire philosophy about not feeling bad... LIFE HAPPENS.

that's what I always say. None of us can make losing weight our full time job every day forever, and that's okay.

So I'm holding on to that instead of being like, "man, it's thanksgiving week and I'm only 2-5lbs lighter than I was in MARCH."

RIGHT but see, back when I was doing Weight Watchers, this many months of not being successful actually meant gaining back 40lbs, so in that sense I'm a SUPERHERO.

It's fine.

I'm out ...
