Some days more than others, today is one of those days. As I drove into work this morning seeing all the trees coming into bloom I couldn't help but to remember my mother and how she loved the spring time. She loved seeing all the colors and things come alive after a long winter. I wish you were here mother, to share this beautiful time of the year with me~ I planted colorful tulips in my mem... Tue, 17 Mar 2015 15:50:22 EST I'm back with a brand new knee! Hi Spark friends, it's been awhile. But I'm back from having Total Knee Replacement surgery and eager to get more weight off so I can really enjoy this brand new knee!

I thought I'd be able to find the time while on medical leave to get back on Sparkpeople and get back in the groove....but found that my days were filled with Dr. appointments, exercise for my knee and therapy treatments. The six weeks I was off just flew by. So now I'm back to work and ready to get back to workin... Tue, 21 Oct 2014 15:46:30 EST Atlanta...FROZEN! I should be careful what I wish for~

I've lived in the Atlanta area all my life. We don't get snow/ice very often, so when we do get it, it usually means trouble. We don't have the equipment or resources that they do up north where they get a lot of snow. So this is my story from the Atlanta snow storm 2014.

I was at work when the reports started coming in that things in the Atlanta area were getting bad, by the I told my Sgt... Fri, 31 Jan 2014 13:23:17 EST Any Birthday that I'm on this side of the dirt, is a good one~

I'm sitting here watching Georgia vs N. Texas game and reflecting over my Birthday yesterday.

The original plans for dinner with an ole HS friend fell through late yesterday afternoon. My friend texted me to let me know she wasn't feeling well and would have to bail on our plans to meet for dinner. Several others had asked to me do something with them earlier in the week, but since I had already accepte... Keep in mind it's only a rough draft~

Friday after work I drove to the Starbuck’s on Chamblee-Dunwoody Rd. I got there early, in fact I got there much quicker than I ever thought I would. I had reservations about meeting this guy; red flags had already popped up all over the place. I ... For several weeks I felt such a sadness and heaviness in my spirit. But I'm feeling that lifting and my spirit coming back! Praise God!!

Even through those difficult weeks, I kept going to my weekly weigh ins. Don't think I didn't have those negative thoughts like, "Maybe I won't ... Sat, 8 Jun 2013 10:39:48 EST Okay, I'm back to myself...Ready to get this DONE!!

A couple of weeks ago I reached out to some of you to help me through a tough time. (see previous blog on May 21st) And I want all of you that gave me advice, suggestions and comments, to know I really appreciated it! I have been reevaluating where I am and where I want to go with my life. And today I'm hopeful and excited about what the future may hold for me.

I still don't have all the answers, b... Wed, 5 Jun 2013 11:47:04 EST I'm at a crossroads in my life...where do I go from here? I'm not sure where to start, so I'm just going to start typing and hopefully this will all make some sense in the end.

For the past few months I have felt my life was changing, but I also felt in many ways I was ready for a change, the next chapter of my life so to speak.

For many years I identified myself as "the wife and mother" and most of those years I also worked outside the home. I sang in my church choir for 8 years. My life was busy and full and I knew what my... You see Socks was getting very old and in the last few months had gone deaf and blind...he was 18 years old and we had gotten to the point we were taking it one-day-at-a-time.

Socks was my friend and my buddy and we had been together since he was very young. We had been through so much together over th... Thu, 16 May 2013 10:04:00 EST Thanks SP friends for the love... Last week was the first emotional trial I've had this year and it was a big one. Having someone you love and think so much of to pass away isn't easy. And for us that go to food for comfort and to soothe those raw emotions, it's what we want to do the most. Eat until we can't feel those feelings anymore. So every time I wanted to reach for something I knew I shouldn't have, I'd think about how hard I've worked to lose the weight I have. I'd tell myself "I will control my emotions and not... Mon, 1 Apr 2013 10:45:34 EST When we face an emotional hurdle So here I sit with my coffee, filled with all kinds of emotions. Today we put to rest a special man in so many people's lives. Some will think this is too long to read, others it will mean nothing to them, and that's okay this is really for me anyway. I have found writing is the best way for me to process things. So here goes...
Ronnie was my father-in-law for many years and was probably the most unselfish man I've ever known. He always and I mean ALWAYS put others first. For many years... Wed, 27 Mar 2013 10:19:14 EST "The day after..." I sit here this morning, drinking my coffee and planning my week. It's Friday, the day after my weekly official weigh in. You see, I'm a planner. When I take the time to plan out my meals for the week it helps keep me on track. My goal this year is to take off 100 pounds and without planning my route, I can't see how I will be able to get there. So, I plan, plan and plan some more. It's not only my meals, but also evaluating what's worked so far and what I can improve to make my goals h... Fri, 15 Feb 2013 08:01:38 EST "Through a child's eyes..." You know as you get older and you don't feel or look like you did when you were younger all it takes is a comment like this to make you feel like everything you've lived through, scars and all was worth it~

Friday night as I was putting by 4 yr. old Granddaughter in her car seat to go eat dinner with my family, she says "Grandmom, you are perfect. Everything about you is perfect!" My eyes teared up and thought to myself, in her eyes I'm perfect what else in this world could possib... Tue, 12 Feb 2013 16:19:54 EST "Pounds are like Snowflakes..." As many, I start the new year, vowing to make healthy changes in my life. I made good strides in 2012, but by fall was falling back into my old habits and by the end of the year I had gained most of what I had lost through the year, back.

This year one new thing I've decided is to remove negative or drama seeking people from my life. I am a poslitve person and I found that many friends were draining my energy and focus. So that is one change I'm making. I need to take care of m... Mon, 28 Jan 2013 15:33:11 EST When we have a bump in the road... Friday after work I was on my way to the gym and I had a flat tire. I was slowing down for a red light where I turn into my gym parking lot and I hear the ..."flop...flop...flop". Luckily I was right at a tire repair/tire store so I pulled in to have them look at it. They were so nice and helpful and after taking the tire off, found it un-repairable, so they put on my spare. And I was on my way...

The point of this blog is how do we respond to those "bumps in the road"? I don'... Mon, 30 Jan 2012 11:37:26 EST I have a date with As my co-workers leave out on Friday for the weekend they're used to seeing me walking to my car in my workout clothes. From time to time someone will say something like, "So what plans do you have for the weekend?" or "Doing something fun tonight?" and my come-back remark is, "Yes, I have a standing date on Friday night with Jim, (that's G-Y-M). Gym makes my heart race, my breathing gets heavy and I always feel so great after spending time with gym".

From time to time I find m... Fri, 27 Jan 2012 15:51:04 EST Half way to my short-term goal through the holidays~ I am soooo pumped today....I'm down 5 lbs. since Thanksgiving! I set myself a short-term goal to lose 10 lbs. through the Christmas holidays. I'm half way there!! I'm thrilled and excited, can you tell?? LOL

We had a holiday breakfast at work this week, so I brought foods that I knew I could eat. I didn't feel deprived or left out, in fact I was proud of myself and others were complementary of my willpower. When I get on the scale and see progress it is soooo worth it!!
... Thu, 8 Dec 2011 12:46:19 EST How I plan to avoid eating Holiday treats that's not on my program I'm a Virgo, so I'm a planner. If I have a plan I'm more likely to follow that plan and avoid over eating or eating foods I know aren't going to help me reach my goals.

Thanksgiving I took most of my food with me, that way I knew I would have healthy foods to eat. I plan to do the same when invited to parties and Christmas get togethers.

When I weighed this morning I was down 2 more pounds! My goal is to lose 10 lbs. from Thanksgiving until New Years Day.
<B... Wed, 30 Nov 2011 12:33:22 EST How I plan to avoid the Halloween Treats... My game plan this year is to not buy any Halloween candy. I plan to go to my daughter's house and give out candy for them while they take their children Trick-or-Treating in their neighborhood. I plan to take along with me, a "low-calorie" treat for me to enjoy. It's all a eating empty calorie treats worth it? I don't think so!!
Thu, 15 Oct 2009 12:24:43 EST Find your true happiness...
