LINEBACKER1968's SparkPeople Blog LINEBACKER1968's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community April 2, 2013 I have been sort of down the last couple days not sure why. I did get in two really good work outs the last 2 days took Sunday completely off. I did not allow myself to turn to food to deal with whatever it is that is bothering me, I guess that is good I have learned one thing food is not the answer. I ve made a commitment to not eat when I am not with it. I'd rather under eat then use food to try and bring myself around. Tue, 2 Apr 2013 11:30:51 EST Friday, March 29, 2013 The weekend has started really good. I actually started mine yesterday. I went to lunch with a friend of mine. I need to go do something I haven't socialized much sense leaving the church ministry. I had a good time didn't eat too much lol. It was funny if you had told me growing up Jo and I would be friends no one would believe it. He just reminded me that you don't need religion to be a good person and It is okay to be who you are and not have to fit into other peoples box. I see myself get... Fri, 29 Mar 2013 11:00:37 EST Day 44 I find it kind of funny that my first major challenge comes on day 44 sense 44 is my favorite #. Last night at work was a mess Our truck was 2hrs late coming in which put the trucks leaving 2hr behind getting loaded and I had 2 extra run to get out the door. We pulled it off the guys really stepped up to the plate. I was an hour and a half late getting off plus I had to appointments I had to make. I couldn't go to the gym and get my normal workout, but the weather is very nice outside for a c... Thu, 28 Mar 2013 13:23:17 EST Day 43 I'm just blogging to myself not so much for others to read. I hope if they do it helps them in some way, but I just need to keep myself focused. I have been learning some new things at work mainly a new saw they have for cutting steel I think it helps me be a better supervisor. I noticed that one of the things my own bosses don't do is learn anything new. I have l also committed myself to do something kind for at least two people each day. I had a really good work out today I'm seeing some im... Wed, 27 Mar 2013 11:07:30 EST Day 42 Was the day that I realized that no matter how many people pat you on the back. You still better be doing this for you. Which I am. If I learned anything from my spiritual battles is that the only love that is really important at the end of the day is the love we learn to have for our self!! 345 104 Tue, 26 Mar 2013 10:34:17 EST 40 days later I had a goal to make it to the gym for 40 days in a row when I first started. Today was day 40 I'm just coming back from what I would call a lite workout. 40 min on the elliptical and 20 min of stretching. In the last 40 days I really pushed myself. Mon I do 70 min on the elliptical then do a chest workout on the weights, Tue I do 60 min on the elliptical I started out walking the steps for 5 min but now I can walk up and run down 4 flights of stairs for 20 min then I do some strength traini... Sun, 24 Mar 2013 15:27:50 EST I Did It!! When I first started just over 30 days ago. I was doing 45-60 minutes on the elliptical I decided I would do something that had a real life feel to it after I finished my workout on the elliptical. The Y center I go to is huge it is a left over from when young men really did stay their. I figured I would use one of the stairwells in back to walk up and down when I first started I was beat after 5 minutes and I had to use the hand rails. After a couple days I didn't need the hand rails anymore... Thu, 21 Mar 2013 09:57:26 EST Crossing The Threshold Today's workout was a blast. I'm able to use elliptical machine without holding the had rail and I can turn it up to 85 %. I'm feeling better and thinking better about myself. I make sure I give myself a 5 min pep talk sometimes twice a day. Everyday I do something to make myself laugh. 247 sometimes you have to hug yourself instead of waiting on someone else to do it! 220 Wed, 20 Mar 2013 09:50:29 EST March 19, 2013 104 314 I left work late today, I'm one of those people who does not like when I get off my time frame. I don't freak out about it I just don't like it. Anyway I get to the gym late and my favorite machine are all taken. I finally have a routine I'm trying this is the first week after doing some experimenting with different groups of exercises the first couple of weeks. The gym has another version of this machine, but it is more advanced. I decided to give it a try it ... Tue, 19 Mar 2013 09:36:38 EST March 18, 2013 I had a good workout. I did what I went there to do. I'm still having a problem getting enough calories sometimes I'm just not hungry. 40 Mon, 18 Mar 2013 10:44:08 EST March 17, 2013 I'm just coming back from the gym and visiting with my Dad. I think I finally have a workout routine that I plan on sticking with for awhile. I know that for me working out and eating right are just half the fight. I finally had to admit to myself sense I went through my struggles with the church I put on 70 pds, so it wasn't all about the car accident. I think maybe that is what had me down the other day. I'm looking forward to working out tomorrow morning when I get off work. I realize how ... Sun, 17 Mar 2013 15:06:51 EST March 15, 2013 I'm ready for the weekend. Last night at work was busy it was one of those days where I had to lead more than supervise. Which I actually like more. I personally think I'm a dreadful supervisor but a pretty good leader. For some reason I was down for a second when I came home from the gym. I had a good workout, I'm not sure why I felt that way. Somehow I made myself snap out of it. I did my laundry , went shopping for fresh fruit met my son for lunch and went to see my Dad. I think today is g... Fri, 15 Mar 2013 16:24:14 EST Day 30 104 I've been at it now for 30 days. The scale has not moved much and I don't see much difference yet, but I feel different inside both mentally and physically. I have already tripled the time I can walk the stairs and I don't need the hand rails. I'm sleeping better and my back is feeling better. I'm looking forward to the next 30 days. I hope to be able to run the stairs by then. It would be nice to be able to join my son while he trains for his up coming football season. I'm sur... Thu, 14 Mar 2013 10:23:12 EST Getting Better I increased my time on the steps by 5 min and still did it without touching the hand rails. I had a real good workout today I even added 3 knew exercises. Tue, 12 Mar 2013 10:11:01 EST Carry Over Yesterday I was down and did not feel up to working out. I had to push my way through and I did. Today I had a great workout I burned around 2,000 cals. I could tell I was sort of pumped up lol because of the fact that I did not give in yesterday. It carried over into my workout today. Mon, 11 Mar 2013 09:56:42 EST Don't Give Into Worry Today I did almost that, I was not in the mood to workout, because I had a lot on my mind. Finally I forced myself to the gym. I Told myself I can think just as easy while I am working out. Once the blood started going to my brian from working out. I gained some clarity about what was bothering me, truthfully it was no longer a big deal I felt fine and was just rocking to the workout music. I am glad I did not give into my feelings and if you are reading this and feeling down trust me workin... Sun, 10 Mar 2013 18:34:13 EST Who Am I? I started this journey to lose weight, maybe to find a part of me that got lost. I was looking at a picture from when I was in the army a 18 year old recent graduate of the U.S. Army Airborne School (A Paratrooper) 180 lbs of muscle. How Did that guy turn into this? It is not just the weight. That other guy or Kid wanted to be a lawyer and A preacher, but after the army, college, 4 years in law enforcement and minister studies I started to lose faith in all of it and somewhere in myself. In t... Fri, 8 Mar 2013 17:43:17 EST I FEEL GREAT Why because I have gone 3 days in a row walking the steps and have not used the hand rails. I'm going to increase the amount of time I walk up and down as my next challenge. I know I can do it now!!! 381 248 386 Thu, 7 Mar 2013 10:56:33 EST First Sign of Progress As part of my workout I walk up and down four flights of stairs at the end of my main cardio workout for about 10-15 min. I noticed today I was feeling a little different, then it dawned on me I was not using the hand rails at all. It made me feel real good inside. 104 Tue, 5 Mar 2013 09:27:37 EST Mask One of the themes in the Zoo Story is that we often hide behind mask. We live in a cage of our own creation and like the animals in the zoo we can tell that something exist on the other side of the cage, but we don't know who. We practice sort of artificial forms of communication. We have become experts at communication that says nor reveals anything and everyone walks away happy, but unfulfilled because the real desire is to be heard. It is not so much that we wonder what people will think i... Mon, 4 Mar 2013 23:57:28 EST The Zoo Story Is a play by Edward Albee. I had to read it as part of my american lit class in high school. I remember a line that has always stuck with me when your 15 very few things make you ponder what they mean on a deeper level. I guess I was strange maybe I still am. I was always a deep thinker. I preached my first sermon at the county juvenile home when I was 14. I didn't know it but at that moment I was starting a journey that would lead me to same place the character Jerry in the play was at. J... Sat, 2 Mar 2013 11:59:53 EST overcoming people Today I had someone try to discourage me at work. Instead of letting them get to me. I sat through the meeting and just talked with the other two supervisors and acted like he was not in the room. Then I went to the gym and had a great workout. Thu, 28 Feb 2013 10:46:06 EST Today's challenge The weather here is terrible, but i wont let that stop me this morning. My bag is already packed and I'm going. I shoveled the drive way last night, so it should be okay in the morning. I'm trying to learn to better anticipate obstacles and handle them in advance when I can. Tue, 26 Feb 2013 23:45:18 EST Real Love Real Love starts on the inside. I'm sure we are all aware of that, but in the rush of day to day living we forget that. Sometimes I let my mistakes weigh on me and forget I have good qualities. I hope if you read this you will remember it is ok to pat yourself on the back. Don't wait for someone else to do, but if you need one I'm giving you one right now. 380 Mon, 25 Feb 2013 09:06:37 EST Just getting started I'm starting my third week. I've lost 6lbs. More importantly is I am feeling better. I'm not just feeling better physically, but emotionally and mentally. Sun, 24 Feb 2013 15:52:26 EST
