I have been excited to start riding. <BR> Our road is somewhat hilly, so when there were times that I could coast, I did. I was surprised that after all of the walking that I have done my legs were so fatigued after only 4 miles on the bike. It tells me that changing my workout is going to be good. <BR> My Spark Tracker registered .85 miles - I am guessing it is because I didn't have my feet going the whole time. <BR> It was great ... And I believe it is because I have not had exercise as a regular part of my life, so I want to make sure I hit the goals I have set for myself. <BR> It is now getting easier to gauge how many steps for different activities. Tue, 12 Aug 2014 11:46:37 EST A Great Family Reunion During the summer we have 3 good size family get-togethers. Our house is the perfect place for it. We live on 8 acres - 3 of them mowed. We have a pool and a play yard, so there is plenty for the kids to do. <BR> On July 4th, my husband's siblings and our nieces and nephews come to our home for a picnic. <BR> Later that month is a reunion for my Dad's side of the family. <BR> And in August is the reunion for my Mom's side of the family. <BR> This one was today. I have now created a spark streak. <BR> I am logging in every day to Spark People (although yesterday I was on the website and forgot to log in and ruined my 31 day streak), and am maintaining my exercise routine. <BR> I really haven't seen any big change in weight, but my clothes are beginning to fit better. This week's fitness goal is to 7000 steps a day and exercise 30 minutes a day x 4 days a week, minimum. <BR> I bought the Spark Tracker and began with the minimum 6000 steps. <BR> I have changed my goal each week to add 500 steps per day. <BR> And I am scheduling exercise time in my daytimer. I have been off and on again with Spark People. I don't know why. And I don't know when exactly, but recently it "clicked", and I made a decision to be healthier. I am a bit overweight and have osteoporosis, but otherwise very healthy. I know that I need to build stronger bones. So, after research, I bought the Spark Tracker( I am addicted to seeing how close I am to my step goal). I left the step goal at 6000 steps (which is more than I have done in a day for a while) and exercise 4 x week ... Sat, 19 Jul 2014 10:02:40 EST Looking forward to a strong and healthy 2013 The local hospital, in conjunction with our local YMCA and 2 fitness clubs is hosting a program called 'Fitness for Life'. It is educational: classes about nutrition, reading labels, and optional classes on diabetes, cholesterol, etc. Every 2 weeks they have a trainer come to the meetings to discuss the physical challenge for that period.
