Not sure why. I just haven't put it in my schedule. In a lot of cases, I have made 10,000 steps - or close - but it hasn't been because of active exercising. <BR> Yesterday I spent the day moving livingroom furniture and washing walls, etc. I know I burned a lot of calories. <BR> But today I am putting my exercise regimen back in place. <BR> <BR> <BR> Tue, 24 Nov 2015 07:15:43 EST Making Time I have a new goal: scheduling. <BR> I am working on better time management. I find I am not as much in balance as I want to be. There are days I don't exercise or I don't get to something I want to get done in the house, because I get involved in something else. <BR> I am self employed, and I use my daytimer for everything. So, I have decided to try scheduling in my book my time for things I want to get done: exercise 9-10; painting a room 11-1; lunch 12-1; filing in the office (yuck!)1-2,... However, I have been much more religious about walking on a regular basis. And, while it is a slower way to eliminate weight, I was fortunate enough to reduce 5 1/2 inches in the past month. (However, I am also at my lowest weight since 2011) <BR> And this summer we have been doing major landscaping as we have been pulling out bushes that did not survive this last harsh ... Sat, 22 Aug 2015 09:02:41 EST Just a glorious day! I had surgery this Tuesday for removal of a cyst. I have some real positive issues out of this: 1) All of the pathology is negative. It is what the doctor assumed, but just verifying it is a relief. 2) I took my last pain medicine night before last. I have had some pain, but mostly it is the gas they fill one up with. And I can live with the discomfort as it is working out of my system. The tenderness from the laparoscopy is just that - tender - and I am just more careful: not worthy of pain... We love to jitterbug (actually, we call it that, but Gary just makes up steps and I follow him, and we look like we planned it (smiley face) and the music was just right for that. <BR> At one point, this group of ladies at a table (young widows all, it turned out) called us over. I used a pedometer this past week, but it fell off several times and it also reset part of the way through the day a number of times. <BR> <BR> I will secure my new tracker somewhere that I will keep it near me all the time. But, I didn't plan on how tired I would be after being in meetings from 8 - 6 every day. We also get together with associates after 6 and aren't back at our hotel until 9 - 10 pm <BR> So, today is my last day in meetings, and tomorrow we are heading to see friends. Mon, 5 Jan 2015 14:35:20 EST Spark Tracker Issue Resolved After our vacation, I began having a problem with my spark tracker. It wasn't correctly tracking steps and exercise. I have been in discussion with the tech folks at Spark People. The end result is that I needed to send it in for an exchange. <BR> <BR> I have enjoyed this tracker and find myself working harder to make sure I hit my goals. The last two days I did it, and then changed clothes and forgot to transfer it to my change of clothes. I went through the whole day and then realized that I had done it. They told me it would be 30 minutes and asked if I was leaving it or waiting. I said I was taking a walk and would be back before noon. Sat, 27 Sep 2014 08:01:53 EST No Spark Tracker A week ago today my spark tracker stopped tracking. We have tried to re-install a number of times to no avail. And we have been in constant contact with Spark People Support. We live in the country, and our block is kind of a rectangle of 7.38 miles of hills and today, lots of wind. The last leg is comprised of 2 huge hills. Sun, 21 Sep 2014 13:25:11 EST Recovering After a whirlwind flight to Texas on Friday, where we bought a car for our newly divorced daughter, we drove the 18 hours(just drive time) home to Ohio. I weighed 6# more than now, but my body was so different. The measurements I last put on my spark page are from 3/2013. I had gained quite a bit of roundness from 3/2013 - 6/2014. Quite a bit. I was really working my goal steps through power walking or recumbent bike, without a whole lot of change. I have been excited to start riding. <BR> Our road is somewhat hilly, so when there were times that I could coast, I did. I was surprised that after all of the walking that I have done my legs were so fatigued after only 4 miles on the bike. I have been off and on again with Spark People. I don't know why. And I don't know when exactly, but recently it "clicked", and I made a decision to be healthier. I am a bit overweight and have osteoporosis, but otherwise very healthy. I know that I need to build stronger bones. So, after research, I bought the Spark Tracker( I am addicted to seeing how close I am to my step goal). It is educational: classes about nutrition, reading labels, and optional classes on diabetes, cholesterol, etc. Every 2 weeks they have a trainer come to the meetings to discuss the physical challenge for that period.
