After losing 70 lbs, I was living a new, healthier lifestyle and was doing better than ever. In September 2012, My husband and I decided to start our family. I never would have guessed at the time what a strain this would put on our lives. It became apparent after 6 months without a cycle that this was going to be more difficult than we had anticipated.

... Sun, 21 Sep 2014 19:31:55 EST New year, New ME! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5209500 I know I haven't blogged in awhile, but I'm still here! I got a bad bout of bronchitis right before Christmas and fell off the wagon for about a week until after the new year. I didn't weigh myself for a two-week period and was dreading getting back on the scale...but I had lost 4 lbs when I weighed in last week! Despite the holidays and being sick, I managed to lose weight by staying active and eating less, even though I wasn't limiting WHAT I was eating. It was a huge boost of confidence. ... Wed, 16 Jan 2013 07:29:12 EST Feeling introspective http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5170798 My original goal was to lose 50 lbs by Christmas....and I did that by Thanksgiving! So I set a goal of 60 lbs by Christmas, and I don't think I'm going to quite make it. 6 days left and 5 lbs left toward my goal, I'm not willing to kill myself just to meet an unreasonable goal, because then I'll just gain all the weight back. Still, it's difficult to not feel like a failure when I don't meet a goal, so I'm trying to think positive.

Here are all the good ways my life has changed in ... Wed, 19 Dec 2012 07:27:47 EST Trying to stay motivated... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5148800 A letter to my body:

So, here we are, body. 50 lbs lost. No, we're not done. We will never be "done." But can you work with me a little bit here? I know you'd rather sleep than exercise, and eat at McDonald's instead of cooking a healthy meal. I don't care. We're not even halfway done yet! Just because people are noticing the changes you're going through (I'm sure you like the new nickname the girls have for me at work: Skinny Minnie), but we're still obese! Yes, I know, your BMI h... Tue, 27 Nov 2012 20:40:35 EST What I've Gained by Losing 50 pounds http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5144337 Yesterday, Thanksgiving Day, I stepped on the scale to see that I'd reached my goal: 50 pounds lost! So, I've been thinking about what I've "gained" by losing the weight. Cliche, I know. But I've definitely learned a lot about myself in the past 5 months. Here's what I've gained by losing 50 pounds:

1) The ability to touch my toes. And let me say, my new flexibility is great for my marriage! 211
2) A new ability to cook. I always liked to cook, but now I know I'm ... Fri, 23 Nov 2012 15:04:20 EST More recipes! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5095377 So, I have been sticking to my routine of trying at least one new recipe per week. Here's what I've tried since the last time I posted a recipe blog, as well as where I got them from and the modifications I've made.

Healthy Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins, from UndressedSkeleton
undressedskeleton.tumblr.com/betterb
reakfast

These turned out VERY sweet, but it may be because I subbed sugar-free maple syrup for half the honey (I didn't have enough honey)... Thu, 11 Oct 2012 14:27:20 EST Doing great! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5088509 I lost 4 lbs this week! Last weekend, I went to my cousin's wedding. I got lots of great compliments on my 30 lb weight loss. I also made sure to take my first weight loss picture in my new dress. I posted it here and I must say, it feels good to see progress with my own eyes. :)

I almost wish I had something bad to say about my struggle. Something, I don't know, inspirational. But so far I've been doing great.

I love all the support I get from everyone here. I think tha... Fri, 5 Oct 2012 23:54:09 EST Slow and steady... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5071093 I lost another 3 lbs this week! As my reward for losing 25 lbs, I bought myself a new dress and shoes for my cousin's wedding next weekend. I'm down a size!

My friend's 30th birthday party was last night, and there was tons of food! The highlight was the beer & bacon cupcakes...yes, you read that correctly. OMG. I calculated the nutrition info...690 calories and 14g fat. For one cupcake. Good thing I only ate a few bites! I was proud of myself for enjoying myself, trying all the fo... Sun, 23 Sep 2012 03:28:11 EST The new recipes I've tried http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5059949 I thought I should mention some of the AMAZING recipes I've tried since I started eating healthier. I'll link to the original recipes and also explain how I modified it.

1) My first healthy recipe was Shepherd's Pie by Gina from SkinnyTaste:

www.skinnytaste.com/2010/03/shepards
-pie-lightened-up.html

I substituted lean turkey instead of the beef; I find that when you buy beef extra lean, it tastes awful, and turkey is still yummy without all the fat. I... Sat, 15 Sep 2012 03:37:24 EST An update. Lots of good news! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5058411 When I joined this site on 9/7/2012, I had hit a plateau in my weight loss. At 281.5 lbs, I was still a long way from my goal and, for the first time since I started in July, I stopped losing weight. I needed a boost from somewhere. Turns out, SparkPeople is exactly what I needed.

Since joining, I have logged everything I eat. And I mean EVERY. SINGLE. THING. My husband was poking fun at me today for logging the one bite of kielbasa I ate while shopping at Costco. (Note: it was all... Thu, 13 Sep 2012 23:38:36 EST
