Boy, was I wrong. Either there must be seriously something wrong with the scale I have at home, or I was just going through those happy eating periods again.

I got sick (again), which is why I feel I needed to go back to my nutritionist's advice. As I was cleaning my bedroom closet today, I found my old folder from last year with all the pamphlets and sheets my nutritionist had given me. It was... Mon, 10 Dec 2012 19:02:26 EST Making Good http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5153771 It's been about 4 days that I've been on an almost strict diet based on what my nutritionist has advised me to do. I've only had Friday a cheat day, where I drank Coca-Cola.

I am not back to exercising just yet, maybe the occasional walking, but for now, I want to fix my diet patterns. Today, I only had 1 cup of coffee, as opposed to when I used to drink up to three cups of coffee a day.

I did not eat any rice today, only bread (chicken parm sandwich), and a sweet potat... Sun, 2 Dec 2012 17:09:19 EST Nov 27 2012 (Tuesday) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5148278 Today:

I ate a bowl of Chicken soup and 1 boiled yam.
1 cup of coffee with organic milk and brown sugar (3 tsps.)

I think I'm over my junk-food eating. I am getting back to what my nutritionist said to me to do to maintain a healthy lifestyle so I can really lose weight and eat healthy.

I noticed some pictures I took of myself last year when I was being strict with my food choices: my skin was a lot more clear and I became less sick.

Thi... Tue, 27 Nov 2012 11:04:43 EST going to track my walking this way http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5125251 I've noticed that my usual normal walking pace is about 2mph when I used to go to the gym and walk on the treadmill. 2 mph is my comfortable, easy walking pace.
So, now that I no longer go to the gym and just run around my neigbhorhood doing errands, I will track my usual walks as equivalent to "2 mph" on a treadmill.
Mapping my route and calculating my steps is too much of a hassle. Honestly, I got sick of trying to figure out how many miles and calories I've burned before, so I wi... Mon, 5 Nov 2012 18:44:35 EST subbing again! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5125237 I am back to substitute teaching! Thank God.
I had been unemployed for a while but started to get calls two weeks before Hurricane Sandy hit.

I'm glad for many things: my foot is finally healed! Wow, I did not realize it would take SIX months for my left foot to heal. :(
Now, I can say it is REALLY healed without the occasional foot pains at the end of the day.

Grateful to be working in the schools again. Hopefully, by the time I get a full-time job, I will ha... Mon, 5 Nov 2012 18:32:25 EST Lemon Water and Escarole http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5120433 I tried something new today: cooking Escarole into a mung-bean soup.
Mom bought some bacon for breakfast. I added the leftover bacon into the Escarole/Mung Bean Soup. I also added half a package of Polska Kielbasa Sausage.

This was my lunch. It will also be my dinner.

I am drinking a jug of water with the juice of 1 lemon squeezed into it. I read that lemon water clears out any leftover junk in the intestines. I've done 1 week of binge-eating of chips/candies. I nee... Thu, 1 Nov 2012 15:10:56 EST Starting Again http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5118559 The month of October was a bit of a struggle for me. I was going back to eating junk food. There were a few events that happened in my personal life that I felt I was not strong enough to deal with on my own, so I turned to food. I'm glad I decided in the later weeks of September that I was going to take it easy during October, because I honestly did not know that NYC would go through the disaster it did these past few days.

I thank God our neighborhood was not struck hard by this ... Wed, 31 Oct 2012 00:16:58 EST Plateauing http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5101357 Okay, so positives: still at that 2 pounds weight gain. I have not gained more and I have not lost either. Thank God!

I have a little more than two weeks to go back to my October goals:

Drinking 8 glasses of water every day
at least 10 mins of fitness each day.

Every week I drink at least 1 Quart of tea, whether it's black tea/green tea with lemon or with no lemon. I think this has helped my digestive system a lot.

I'd like t... Tue, 16 Oct 2012 13:18:22 EST Yesterday http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5092833 Yesterday started out with this beautiful weather and I just felt motivated the entire day to walk around our neighborhood. I must have walked at least 3 miles yesterday just circling around the stores in the area (Rite Aid, Grocery, Post Office to drop a letter outside in the box, Florist).

I ended up buy 2 pots of Celosias ($3 each!) which I added to my mini-balcony by my desk. I was feeling really sad with the lack of sunshine, so I wanted something that would really pop in colo... Tue, 9 Oct 2012 14:55:10 EST Happy Columbus Day! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5091201 Happy Columbus Day, everyone. I hope everyone had a good start to October.
It is feeling more like winter now here in NYC.
(54 degrees today)

I've not been to the gym in two weeks. I'm not going to renew it, but I've also been slacking off in terms of exercise and dieting.
The one good thing that I have been doing is that I've been eating a lot of vegetables in my meals. I've been eating Spinach, beans, Chinese Broccoli, Bok Choy, Rice.

I've also been eati... Mon, 8 Oct 2012 11:40:06 EST Small positive steps http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5082900 So, I no longer go to the gym. I've only been going on a "monthly" basis, meaning I'd only sign up for the gym each month. I've worked on that for 3 months and now, I'm not going back.

I've been making more of an effort to walk around my neighborhood. The good thing about this place is that the roads are not always flat. The sidewalks curve up and down into small hills, large hills, etc. So, I'm really getting a good, but modest workout.
I'm wearing open-toed sandals, so my f... Mon, 1 Oct 2012 21:18:41 EST New Changes http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5077267 I revamped my sparkpage. I was thinking over my previous blog entries and have noticed the slow and steady negativism creeping into my entries.

I decided to change the overall look and feel of my spark page. I deleted the one negative entry I had previously written and have decided to start all over.

I was reading one article written by a spark staff writer about getting rid of negative thinking and I totally agree with that line of thought. So, I thought to do somethin... Thu, 27 Sep 2012 14:56:13 EST Positives http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5067195 Last Thursday, I ate three donuts (2 apple, 1 plain chocolate glazed) from Dunkin' Donuts with a medium iced apple cider.

Last Monday/Tuesday (this most recent Monday) I ate two slices of carrot cake with the cream cheese frosting/walnuts.

I think I am doing really good. I have had the urge to leave the house at a spur of a moment to rush to the convenience store to get some chocolate ANYTHING, but managed to stay inside the home without spending money on anything ... Thu, 20 Sep 2012 00:39:29 EST Little by little http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5067189 So, my new motto is if I have to go as slow as turtle with this weightloss journey, I'll go that way. Afterall, the turtle won the race, not the rabbit! :D

I'm not going to the gym as much. I am also still eating rice. I just LOVE rice. White rice. It's just filling. If I don't deny myself when I have a craving for rice with a meal, I also find that I would most likely NOT CHEAT on my diet.

From experience, when my doctors/nutritionist used to tell me to STOP EATING RIC... Thu, 20 Sep 2012 00:29:56 EST plateau? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5054969 I feel as if I am on a plateau, which is okay.
If I have to be on a one month plateau, that's alright, because I have a couple of things to take care of.

On the positive note, I am going to the gym as much as I can. I skipped the weekend, but I went at 5:20 this morning and did 1 hour of working out.

Am I really losing weight? I don't know, but on some days my face looks smaller, less puffier. :D

Ahh, I'll just leave this on a funny note and move o... Tue, 11 Sep 2012 19:39:17 EST Scale not moving http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5047722 My scale has not been moving but when I look down on my legs, they look smaller. I even see that skin-wrinkly thing when you've lost some fat. Yup, my skin is looking a little bit more wrinkly in the areas where I've been losing fat.

I'm so happy 'bout that!

I'm increasing my weight-training and decreasing my cardio workouts, meaning, I am spending more time on those weight lifting machines at my gym (we have a women's only section). I try to make more effort into using... Thu, 6 Sep 2012 21:40:19 EST Too lazy to track my nutrition....So, I'll just blog them! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5046018 I bought one head of iceberg lettuce, 4 large tomatoes, and have been making mini salads with these for a few days a week.
My mom also eats these salads when I prepare them.

1 head of lettuce could be cut into 4 sections and then 1 large tomato could be sliced to fit two small salads.

I'd eat maybe some bread (Cibatta or French Bread, whichever, they're those huge loaves that are freshly baked), with cheese.

Today, for protein, I added sliced Italian Swee... Wed, 5 Sep 2012 19:13:25 EST Back to Gym http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5046002 I took a 5 day break. I just wasn't feeling up to going to the gym, and the gym happened to be closed on Labor Day, so I did not get any workouts done at the gym.

I went today, and boy, do I feel HAMMERED. :(
I worked hard but not too hard where I am about to cry from the pain. LOL!

I just kept reminding myself that I am allowing myself to lose this weight until November 1, 2013. My goal at the very most is to lose about 10 pounds a month. So, that in 1 year I shoul... Wed, 5 Sep 2012 19:03:48 EST good day http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5033975 Today was a good day. I got a lot of housework done earlier in the morning and I got to go to the gym at 5:20 pm. I worked hard at the gym today. It was really nice.

Just did my usual: walking and strength training.

I've noticed that if I do my strength training first (back, legs, calves) then it will be easier for me to work on the treadmill.

I was lucky there were a few good songs on the radio, so I kept switching stations on my little armband radio while ... Mon, 27 Aug 2012 23:09:51 EST Being Realistic http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5027258 I'm going to be very realistic with myself.

I've read one of sparkpeople's success stories "Runs for Cookies" and she's the first reason why I joined this online support community.

One of the things she said is to stick with the changes you are willing to make:
for example, she knew she would always eat cookies, so she never took out cookies from of her diet.
Eventually she lost 115 pounds.

So, when I got my monthly visitor, boy did I hit a wal... Thu, 23 Aug 2012 01:36:20 EST Back to Gym http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5026575 I'm back to my working out. Yesterday I went at 9:20 p.m. and was already on my treadmill walking next to my fellow gym mates. XD

I did 40 minutes of walking, with a 5 minute break in between. Then, did some light weight-training in the Women's section only of our local gym. That's what I love about my local gym: they have a women's only weight-training section.

I had walked for about 30 to 40 minutes earlier in the day in my neighborhood. I went to the post-offic... Wed, 22 Aug 2012 15:07:39 EST Break for awhile http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5018230 I'm going to take a break for awhile, maybe 4 to 5 days.
I am going through my monthly "women's issues" and there is absolutely no way I can go to the gym in this state. Nuh uh! Not going to do it!

The most fitness I could do from a day to day basis is just to do some light walking around my neighborhood and that's just about it. So, maybe I'll head outside and take a walk for a few minutes instead of being cooped up inside a gym on a treadmill.

I think I'll read a ... Thu, 16 Aug 2012 14:36:10 EST Found a positive Post http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5016988 I've found this excellent post. I am feeling a bit depressed. I honestly think it must be the medication I'm taking mixed in with the monthly visitor. X
Sooo.. I'll leave it at that!
Yes, I've been eating some foods that wouldn't be considered, "Diet foods," but it's the stuff my body needs now.

2 40 24

Oh well. One week of this, then it's back on track! :)

Here's the post voted best blog entry by other Spark-peeps. <B... I had a rough start, wasn't really feeling very strong, but kept pushing myself to go on a higher incline for longer periods of time. Then, if I couldn't take it, I'd lower the incline/speed. I've been on the treadmill for 1 hour and 30 minutes. I'd go on 20 minute interverals of walking, take a 3 minute break, and start again for another 20 minutes until I do my standard 1 hour and 20 minutes of walking. That's my goal ... Fri, 10 Aug 2012 18:32:35 EST Smoothies?? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5009440 I'm thinking of making some smoothies either today or this weekend. I want to incorporate more fruits into my diet. I have to scour underneath the kitchen cabinets (in the lower cabinets close to the sink) for the blender.
I'm excited about my new smoothies!!

Will have to look for a healthy smoothie recipe either on sparkrecipes, or somewhere else, maybe the foodnetwork.

I am also going to cook some red beans today, maybe in curry, paprika, and cumin with some veg... Fri, 10 Aug 2012 09:34:07 EST Gym at Night http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5007597 So, I went back to the gym at night: 9:20 p.m. I know it's late, but I wanted to try something different. I've gone early in the morning, in the middle of the day, late in the afternoon, etc.

I feel the most comfortable at 9 p.m. knowing that all of the classes are finished and most of the shops in the area are closed. Since the gym has surrounding open windows, I like the fact that I can work out knowing that there is less traffic on the adjacent street.

I am such a lon... Mon, 6 Aug 2012 23:43:18 EST Back to the gym http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5000720 So, I've been trying to do this treadmill thing in order to strengthen my foot after fracturing it in April. I can't believe it took this long for this one foot to heal, but I guess, what could I expect? I peaked at 254 pounds!

However, I AM determined to lose this weight however long it might take. Even if I slip every once in awhile with the dieting, the main thing for me to do is to continue with the exercise. I totally splurged on a McDonald's meal on Tuesday evening. I had an... Sat, 4 Aug 2012 12:58:20 EST back home from the gym http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=4989597 spent about an hour and half at the gym. It was really a lot of hardwork.

I went today from 2 pm to about 3:30 pm I believe.
I couldn't make it that early in the morning, but I didn't want to give up. Really, I had no choice to! I renewed my 1 month gym membership since I am only going month by month.

I still have to gauge whether I can continue going to the gym once school starts in September.
