But the bottom line is I really just need to get this out:
Well...the last entry where I'd lost 8 lbs was a fluke, I guess. I gained it right back the next week--eating the same things and exercising the same if not more.
...And now for about a month, maybe more--no progress yet again.
And I've really been trying. I have had a couple of days where I just get sick of it and give up. But the next day I feel bad and go right back to i... Tue, 30 Apr 2013 05:10:33 EST Good results! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5289241 Well the carb cycling (see last entry) is definitely working!!! I can honestly say this is the biggest weight loss (within a week) that I've seen from any diet I've ever tried. And I still don't feel like I'm missing out on things I want to eat/still feel motivated to keep with it.

SO the results ::drum roll:: 8.4 lbs! :)
Very pleased with this amount and I can already SEE the difference in the mirror. Curious to see what next week yields!

<img src="http://photo... Sat, 16 Mar 2013 22:04:58 EST Carb Cycling--it's working!!! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5285536 Weight Watchers, Low Carb Diets of all sorts, most recently p90x--I've been on the search for weight loss that works for the better part of 8 years. And I think...I've finally found it. My secret weapon. Two words for you:
Carb Cycling.

If you've never seen it I suggest first watching a few episodes of Extreme Makeover--Weightloss Edition.
Chris Powell, the coach for that show is the author of the book Choose to Lose-- 7 Day Carb Cycling. After watching the show I was ... Wed, 13 Mar 2013 17:03:08 EST Freezer Meals http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5255484 I'm going to attempt to cook up food, separate them into correct portion sizes and freeze. With the husband deployed it seems like a great idea for healthy meals rather than grabbing something fast/small enough to cook for myself/wasting food, etc.

Plus with work when I get home I just don't feel like cooking. Maybe I can even implement it when he gets back home, that way I can still have cooked meals prepared for him even though I'm at work all day and tired when I get home. <BR... Mon, 18 Feb 2013 22:08:02 EST Binge Eating... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5254093 Ugh. I hate to admit the fact that I do this. I seriously don't know why...it's like if there's food in the house that I like--I will eat it. Whether I'm hungry or not. It's gotten a lot worse lately.

I think because I've been a bit depressed lately. Just a lot of things going on...stuff that's been hard to deal with for me. Not only that but sometimes I don't get a chance to eat properly while I'm at work which makes me ravenous by the time I get home and I'm stressed and tired a... Sun, 17 Feb 2013 21:32:58 EST Fluctuations http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5251505 Ahh well...I've not done p90x in about a month. Honestly...I find it irritating and kind of boring. I like going to the gym much better. Maybe I'm not getting the same kind of workout but...I figure it's better to go workout in some way everyday than dread it and end up not doing it. I might give it another try later but for now the gym is working better for me.
I guess I haven't been losing that much weight...but..eh. I dunno. I'm trying to eat healthy. I don't know what else to do. I'... Fri, 15 Feb 2013 11:15:48 EST P90x days 2-4 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5205837 Ah well, it seems I'm not the average bear--most people say the plyometrics are the toughest in the p90x series....no. My biggest challenge thus far--yoga.

I definitely didn't get through the whole hour. Not sure if it was that i'd worked 8 hours before I came home and worked out or if it really was just that hard. Today was a little rough for me too--back and legs. Apparently I have less leg strength than I thought. Wasn't able to put as much effort as I would have liked into tod... Sun, 13 Jan 2013 22:39:15 EST Feelin' good! p90x day 1 down... http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5200471 So yesterday was my first tackle attack on p90x!

It wasn't easy. I ran into a few problems--most of the pushups had to be done on my knees which disappointed me at first but...I definitely feel the workout today so I guess it's ok, you know? I gotta start somewhere and I shouldn't expect myself to be able to do this like the DVD right off the bat. Gonna work up to it and be ok with that.

I took my "before" pictures yesterday and I thought that would make me upset when ... Thu, 10 Jan 2013 12:21:46 EST Late Start http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5198118 Bahhh! I wanted to start p90x on Monday but I was just so exhausted from flying back in Sunday night then going into work the next morning and today that I haven't done it yet. BUT I've got all my equipment put together and I'm about to hang my pull up bar here in a few so I can do the 1st workout between breakfast and lunch tomorrow.

Was a little discouraged as I really like to keep on schedule when I have things planned but...2 days isn't gonna kill me. And now that I have every... Wed, 9 Jan 2013 03:24:33 EST p90x fit test http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5188371 ohhh lord! What surprised me most was that the 2 minutes of jumping jacks KILLED me. My calf muscles were screaming pretty loud.
But...I got through the test. Left out the bicep curls because A)I don't have any weights here/yet B) I know I can do the minimum of 10 curls w/8 lbs without much problem.

Surprises during the test: I did way better than the female minimum for pushups (min=3, I was able to do 10..which I'm shocked by)

Was able to do the ab part pretty de... Thu, 3 Jan 2013 14:37:37 EST Kinda cool! (Pull up Assist for chin up bars) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5186829 I just ordered one of these. The only exercise I know I CAN'T do is a pullup. Nuh-uhh. Not gonna happen. But I found this little gem: the p90x pull up assist band
.

Whoo Hoo! The reviews on amazon said that it really does help develop the muscles without the struggles of a regular pull up. The other alternative is using a chair to help you and apparently that doesn't work too great. And eventually it does develop the muscles to where you can sta... Wed, 2 Jan 2013 19:31:08 EST Little more p90x insipration http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5186290 Figure it can't hurt to keep pumping myself up about starting p90x next Monday. :)
Here's another youtube video that I found really inspiring and awesome:

Basically this is exactly where I'm starting out--at 195 lbs. on a 5'4" frame. ohhh lord. I've got a long way to go but...I'm doing this. For ME! I've just been thinking so much lately about what I really want out of this and really, my ultimate goal is just ... Wed, 2 Jan 2013 13:51:18 EST p90x inspiration http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5184158 Alright! Got the P90x workout and nutrition plan from my sister and I've been going over it the last few days (haven't started it yet though). The diet seems amazing--I don't think I'll be missing anything I've been eating previously and I have a hunch it'll be better tasting. Well...maybe not better tasting (I'm a pretty darn good cook). But...just as tasteful, shall we say?

I'm honestly looking forward to the challenge. That's one thing I like after I finally get into a workout ... Tue, 1 Jan 2013 15:05:40 EST Decision! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5180247 I've decided to try p90x. I think it will keep me on track as I have no excuse NOT to do it as there's no traveling to get to it (like the gym), there's a workout guide/checklist (i am a list-a-holic), my sister did it for a while with some good success (and she is far less interested in working out than me--hates it, I actually kind of enjoy it), if I couple this with running a mile a few times a week...i think it will do wonders. And there's a meal plan laid out for me in the nutrition guid... Sat, 29 Dec 2012 21:22:01 EST Enter the cravings http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5177678 ehhhh! I really didn't think they'd start already. Part of the Tame Your Sweet Tooth Challenge is writing down what I'm craving. So..here it goes:
-after breakfast (of greek yogurt, strawberries, half a bagel and herbal tea) I want a diet coke and some chex mix. Carbs, for sure.
Definitely thinking about food a lot more than normal today. I guess it's because I made the conscious decision to "eat better". Why you do this to me, brain?!

--So I had a small snack, which I'd... Thu, 27 Dec 2012 12:18:34 EST Tame Your Sugar Tooth Challenge--Reasons http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5176995 1. Lose weight.
2. To not be tempted by high calorie foods (as most of the sweets I choose are such)
3. To not miss super sweet/empty/high calorie foods while changing the way I eat
4. To Learn how to pick healthy foods like fruit instead of cookies or Reese's cups when I want something sweet
5. I've realized that sweets comfort me when I'm down, bored or stressed. I don't want to rely on food for this. I want to replace my food crutch with activity/exercise or creativity... Wed, 26 Dec 2012 19:34:04 EST
