In my absence, I have continued to run and did my first 10K at Thanksgiving. I finished it in just over a hour and I was so proud of myself. I was motivated to keep moving but due to the weather and time change, I don't really have any daylight hours when I don't have the kids to run. It's been frustrating. I couidn't get moving during todays run... I felt like I was stuck in mud the whole way. I was running 7 minutes followed by 3 minutes walking. It took me 34:43 minutes just to make it through 2.83 miles. That was a horrible time, I hope Thursday's run goes better. Wed, 24 Oct 2012 00:11:02 EST Interval bump I've missed a couple of entries so this seems weird but I bumped my interval times today. I ran 7 minutes and walked 3 minutes alternating for 6.72 miles in 1 hour 21 minutes and some seconds. This was A and I's second Sunday morning run and it turned out great! She's pushing my distance and I am pushing her pace (when I run). She's trying to get me to sign up for a 10K at Thanksgiving and I am thinking about it if we'll be in town. Everyone was really nice. The Welcome person ran with me for the first 1/2 mile (until I needed to walk) and then I let her go on. Another member who stopped off to use the port-o-john caught up with me and ran with me for my next 5 minute (1/2 mile) run. I am still doing 5 minutes running followed by 2 minutes walking. I am NOT a morning person but managed to get my butt out of bed at 6:30 AM this morning for a run. AND I had a good run. I was able to run 5 minutes followed by 2 minutes walking for 4 cycles. I am so proud of myself!!! <BR> <BR> I have a little soreness in my calves that will need some ice and stretching but otherwise I am doing good. Hopefully I can manage it again on Thursday. For those who don't know, Gilroy (the town this race was in) is the largest grower of Garlic aka stinking roses hence the name. Surprisingly enough, it didn't smell like Garlic at all today and it normally reeks. <BR> <BR> I started out the race pretty good and probably a little too fast. Sat, 18 Aug 2012 20:05:52 EST My Injury :( I can safely say that I have injured my left leg. After the Virtual 5K last week, I had some pain on my lower left leg (calf/shin area). I iced it and played the "watch it" card. Within about 24 hours, a bruise appeared from the lower front of the shin wrapping around to the inside of my knee. It lines up perfectly with the pain I am having. I decided to take off a week and see what happens. After icing every night and being pretty much totally inactive (for me), the pain is still there...
