LAURIELYNN50's SparkPeople Blog LAURIELYNN50's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Creating a Strategy In a BLOG post I wrote almost 3 years ago. The reasons/excuses on why my lifestyle plans haven't been well executed are well chronicled. What isn't written about are my strategies. So I find myself 3 years after that post at 190 lbs. Up another 9 pounds. My STRATEGY is: Replacing my work week lunch from a feeding frenzy where up to 1000 calories can be consumed to a protein shake AND being accountable to my commitments.

Here's my BLOG post for August 18th, 2012:

M... It's how we move forward that's our choice.
For the past number of months I liken my moving forward to a mechanical moving sidewalk, like at the airport. I'm going forward but not by my own energy.
Today I step off the moving sidewalk and choose to move forward using my own energy.
I'm stepping into the 5% Challenge that begins April 4th! Sun, 29 Mar 2015 15:05:31 EST Parts Of My Journey As I update and change my SP page, I don't want to loose where I've come from, where I've been, and what I've thought and wanted to share in the past. So, that's what you'll find in this blog post...past thoughts and goals.

(SparkPage title June 2011)
YOU GET WHAT YOU SETTLE FOR
This is it. It's time to redefine what I settle for.

I have been Sparking for 3 months. In those 3 months, I have learned that who I am is a person who wants to be healthier and ha... Sat, 18 Aug 2012 13:11:46 EST Mixed Emotions What happens to a person in a matter of 12 months? Distractions, loose focus, celebrations, stress, good news, bad or sad news, parties, achievements met, goals in now way, shape or form achieved, more distractions, more loss of focus, another year older - boo, another year older - WooHoo, loss of family and friends, finding new friends, new babies born. A bag of mixed emotions.

I report today with mixed emotions that I moved my weight loss ticker from 161 lbs (last recorded June... Sat, 18 Aug 2012 12:06:11 EST What's a Girl to Do? It's Biggest Loser Live Finale and the first day of my 24 week training for the Susan G. Komen 3 Day for the Cure and I got off work a little late! What's a girl to do? I had 50 minutes to walk 3 miles. Do the math, I told myself. I cranked my treadmill up to 3.7 mph and took off!! A feat I could not have accomplished 16 weeks and 20 pounds ago. (insert great feeling here) Mission accomplished. First training walk for the 2011 season...done. Enjoyed BL Live Finale...awesome! Tue, 24 May 2011 23:04:17 EST Susan G. Komen 3 Day for the Cure Empowering & Proactive…these words slipped from my lips the first time I attempted to explain what it was to participate in the 3 Day. That was in 2007 after I participated in my 1st walk. This will be the 5th year that my team the Tenacious Turtles walk in the 3 Day for the Cure.

I didn’t begin this journey because I felt empowered. I began this journey because my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. I said “yes” to walking before I knew what I was saying “yes” to. It was duri... Sun, 22 May 2011 18:33:47 EST Top Performers I wanted to share an e-mail I received that I'm feeling very good about! The Alliance for a Healthier Minnesota paired with The Biggest Loser to sponsor a weight loss challenge from January 15 - April 15.
I have deleted questions 1-6 of the interview simply because they were name, address, contact info etc.

****************************************

Congratulations! Your team ranked among the top performers within your division in the Biggest Loser Minnesota Challe... Sat, 14 May 2011 14:56:16 EST T-minus 68 Days to Colorado This is the summer I will take my long awaited trip to Colorado. This trip was a part of my motivation for getting fit and loosing extra pounds. I had a thought, dream, idea that I would be at my goal weight of 147 by July 16th. For me to achieve that goal I would need to loose 19 pounds in 68 days...loose 19 pounds in 9.7 weeks. That's 2 pounds per week. Can I do that? I'm not sure.
My former self would have responded to this question with an enthusiastic "sure, I can do that!" ... Sun, 8 May 2011 18:49:15 EST Excess Baggage Because most of us have it and those who do, want to be shed of it!

I think the word baggage gets a bad rap. Baggage alone is necessary. When you go on a trip you need a certain amount of baggage to make your trip enjoyable. It's when the word excess gets placed in front of baggage that it's a problem. When you check your baggage at the airline ticket counter, they weigh it, and it weighs over the limit...that is excess baggage.

My destination is 145 pounds. I am lo... Sat, 30 Apr 2011 23:07:13 EST A Change of Shoes, a Change of Attitude So, it's a lazy Saturday morning in my slippers. I have a fair amount of tasks on my to do list. After breakfast, my whole day was going to start with a workout on the treadmill. A little cereal and fruit, a little coffee, a little news, a little more coffee, a little internet surfing, a little lounging, a little get the picture.

Time was quickly slipping away as I was spiraling down into deep lounge mode in my fuzzy, warm slippers. The more time passed the better... Sun, 24 Apr 2011 00:12:32 EST Oooh, So That's How Skinny People Do It A Glimpse at Maintenance

I love my Mother. I lost her when we were both way too young. She was all kinds of amazing. She was especially a good country cook. Many of her recipes were handed down, including her potato salad.

It is always a special event when my family gets together. And what do you serve at special events? The families favorite recipe...potato salad! I have been trusted with Mom's recipe box. That's where you will find, on a small yellow scrap of p... Sat, 2 Apr 2011 21:38:00 EST Newton Revisited A body at rest will stay at rest, a body in motion will stay in motion.

I would have never guessed that Sir Isaac Newton's discoveries would have such an affect on my life 30+ years after I learned about his 3 laws of motion. Specifically inertia.

I know what it is for my body to be at rest. The idleness, the motionlessness, to be at a standstill. For many years my body has been at rest, and just like Newton says, it wants to stay at rest. For the last 75 days I have... Tue, 22 Mar 2011 21:35:34 EST A Change of Scenery Everything is exciting in a new place. I was at my sister's last week caring for her after a major leg break that required a 4 hour surgery. I was helping her with very typical even mundane tasks like cooking, cleaning, fetching things for her, doing laundry. While I was baking banana muffins -heart healthy, of course- it hits me, a warm, content feeling. I wanted to transport my whole life to that warm content moment. I concluded that even the most boring tasks that I perform every week... Tue, 15 Feb 2011 23:40:52 EST Put me in coach...I'm ready to play...the game... Mon, 31 Jan 2011 00:32:59 EST 12 Resolutions I am a person that likes to make a resolution at the beginning of the new year. Sometimes I succeed, and sometimes not. As the new year approached I started to ponder what I would resolve to change or try new in 2011. My resolutions are usually not real serious. For example last year I tried to say "please" and "thank-you" more. A couple years ago I embarked on the resolution that has given me the most pleasure; I resolved to read the Harry Potter series. I had no problem with that one!... Wed, 26 Jan 2011 19:32:31 EST Baby Spark Steps I feel like the character in the movie What About Bob that is constantly reminding himself to take baby steps. That was a real break through idea for him. I have adapted that theme for my first weeks working this site, changing my eating habits and changing my exercise routine. I'm doing my 8/8 water, waking up with 10 minutes of vigorous exercise in the morning, and working the food log.

What I have learned today...I eat way too much for lunch. I am off for 1 hour for my lun... Wed, 19 Jan 2011 22:27:28 EST
