LALMEIDA's SparkPeople Blog LALMEIDA's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Remembering Jesse It was 15 years ago today that I lost my dear unborn child. I named him/her Jesse not knowing what the sex of the baby was. I have never written a blog about any of my miscarriages to mark an anniversary afraid that I might offend someone. However, I decided that this year I would because this baby was important to me and I want to acknowledge that this baby has always been and will always be loved. I love you Jesse! Mon, 11 Mar 2013 19:16:23 EST Goodbye 2012 2012 was a great year for me. It was a year of rebuilding my life. My family and I are in much better shape financially now than we were last year at this time. I let go of a lot of things both physically and emotionally.

I think that 2013 is going to be a year of filling in the details of my life. I already see that I will be traveling more and gaining more clarity of what I want to do next.

Happy New Year everyone! Mon, 31 Dec 2012 22:30:28 EST Happy 4th! I just wanted to wish everyone a happy and safe Fourth of July. 232 283 Tue, 3 Jul 2012 23:44:35 EST 5 Years since I got a second chance at life This past weekend marked five years since I got a second chance to live my life to the fullest. Five years ago I was in the critical care unit having life saving surgery on my heart. My heart and both lungs were filled with fluid caused by Lupus. I did not know that I had Lupus until about three months later. Before all of this had happened I was working crazy hours at a job that caused me to have a severe amount of stress. I didn't have time to think about what I really wanted to do or ... Sun, 15 Apr 2012 23:21:35 EST New Hair style is giving me more energy Today I went to get my hair done. I was going in to get my roots retouched and a trim. Well, I decided that I wanted to be bold and go very short. My hair was very long and had a lot of frizz. The humidity in Florida didn't help much so I wanted something different. I had been feeling very tired, and yes frumpy. I was tired of the hair style ( or lack of it) and I got excited as the hair dresser took a before picture of me. I felt like I was getting the royal treatment. When all was s... Thu, 22 Mar 2012 23:36:57 EST Happy New Year! Just wanted to wish everyone a happy new year. Hope everyone has a happy and healthy 2012! Sun, 1 Jan 2012 21:37:15 EST Saying goodbye to 2011 2011 was a year of big changes for me. This past year I accomplished something I have wanted to do for a very long time. I got certified as a Law of Attraction Coach. I also packed up my stuff and moved from Massachusetts to Florida. It was hard to say goodbye to my family but it was something that my husband and I thought was the best thing we could do for ourselves financially. We do love the weather down here but Christmas was hard this year without spending it with my family. I am h... Fri, 30 Dec 2011 21:46:42 EST I fit into a size 6 skirt I went shopping today for a skirt and a dress. I tried on a 10 and then an 8...both were too big for me! So, I went back and got a size 6 to try on and it fit! I have not fit into a size 6 of anything in over 10 years! Fri, 11 Nov 2011 18:25:00 EST Positive feeling after meeting with doctor today I went to my new doctor today and she gave me some excellent news. She told me that all of my tests came back normal and that my blood test indicated that my vit D levels are now up where they should be! This is a very big deal for me because I have been trying to raise these levels. I am no longer Vit D or Calcium deficient. Tue, 27 Sep 2011 23:14:18 EST Bittersweet goodbye to Massachusetts Today is going to be my last full day in Massachusetts for a while. I am moving to Florida. The hardest part is saying goodbye to my family. I grew up in Mass but I have outgrown it. I am looking forward to beginning a new chapter in my life. I do have some members of my family living down there so I will have people I love and care about down there. My parents also said they plan on visiting a lot especially in the winter so that they can be warm. I look forward to the warmth to and t... Wed, 17 Aug 2011 02:36:03 EST 10 pounds down! I have lost a total of 10 pounds since the beginning of the year. I am so proud of myself! Thu, 10 Feb 2011 22:38:49 EST February starts off with a storm Happy February everyone!
We had a lot of snow here in Massachusetts in January and it looks like February is going to start us off with over a foot of snow. Well, it looks like I will be snowed in tomorrow unless I work tomorrow night. Usually they cancel but we will find out soon enough. If I stay home tomorrow I will use the time to study and read. Tue, 1 Feb 2011 21:24:19 EST January has been a busy month This month has been very busy and seems to have flown by so fast. I have been busy working and studying for my coaching certification. I have lost 4 pounds since the beginning of the year. I hope everyone is having a great month. Wed, 26 Jan 2011 14:15:25 EST 2011: A year of Hope! It has been one busy week. I have just returned to my job after a long (almost 4 years) of leave. I am so glad that I am feeling well enough to return to work. It feels great to be able to work outside the house.
For me 2011 is a year of hope and a year of more great things to come. This is the first time in a long time that I feel a sense of hope and have a great sense of well-being. I am so happy to be able to do more of the things that I enjoy doing and help my family. I am work... Sat, 8 Jan 2011 20:13:10 EST I had a great week My week went very well. I am feeling better and my cold has pretty much gone away. I am still taking it easy but I still go for a lot of walks with my dog. I love the morning walks because it is still quiet and I love listening to the sounds of nature. It relaxes me and sets the tone for my day. Fri, 1 Oct 2010 22:01:19 EST This cold is dragging me down I am in a pretty sad mood today. I just don't feel all that great because of this stupid cold. I am absolutely miserable. I also have a million things to do and don't feel like doing anything but sleep today. I know if I don't do anything today I will have more to do tomorrow but at the same time I think I will be more productive tomorrow if I rest today. We'll see because I am resting most of the day today. Fri, 24 Sep 2010 17:39:23 EST Today was a better day Today I decided to go with the flow of things. I took a lot of time for myself today and it made a big difference. I still have my cold but I am feeling much better than yesterday. I journaled, did a little of my typing work, and then took a nice walk in the park with my husband and dog Galen. I also allowed myself to take a much needed nap. Now I feel more like myself. Thu, 23 Sep 2010 22:32:40 EST Busy day today but slowly getting things done I spent the day doing laundry and grocery shopping. I have a cold so it was a slow moving process but I did get it done. Now I am planning on going to bed early tonight because this cold is making me feel like I got run over by a truck. Wed, 22 Sep 2010 20:00:04 EST Feeling great today! Self-care does wonders!! Today I decided to get my nails done as a reward for completing a huge project that I have been working hard to finish. I am so glad I finished the project and I am glad that I got my nails done. I had been promising myself all summer that I would get them done---but never did. I feel so much better and my motivation for completing other projects has increased. The stress I have been feeling about unfinished projects is decreasing too! Tue, 21 Sep 2010 18:15:48 EST impatience and irritation of self the source of stress?? Today the source of my stress was my mood. I was so irritated with myself for not getting stuff done fast enough. I guess you could say that I was very impatient. I have so much on my list of to-do's that I can't think straight. I really need to make a list of all the mental to do's rolling around in my brain. I need to decide which one I need to do the most and then focus on that one item. Most importantly I need to learn to reward myself after I complete something big or small. I rea... Mon, 20 Sep 2010 23:30:27 EST Stress decreasing I just joined the stress busters challenge team. Today is my first journal entry. My level of stress is low today. I went to church this morning and spent most of the day with my family. It was nice. I also got some household cleaning and prep done for the week. I feel pretty good today. Sun, 19 Sep 2010 18:37:28 EST Prednisone has taken its toll on my body! I am so frustrated that I cannot get off the prednisone yet! I am still tapering down but time will tell whether my new medication will manage my crohns disease enough to come off of it. I have gained all of my weight back despite all of the effort I have put into exercising. I also just got diagnosed with osteoporosis. Now I am going to have to deal with 3 diseases. I am still dealing with the news of the new diagnosis. I am coming to terms with it and gathering as much info on exercis... Wed, 1 Sep 2010 17:53:41 EST 2010 the Year of Change The new year is upon us. I did some reflecting the past week and discovered that 2009 was about clearing up a lot of stuff in my life. Well, I have realized that with a lot of those changes I had made last year it brought me a lot of new opportunities and promises for 2010. I really did not think that I had accomplished that much in 2009, but reflection proved me wrong! I have now come to realize that a lot of those difficult decisions and changes I made in the past year or so were necess... Sat, 9 Jan 2010 14:07:07 EST During the summer you will find me outside I love to spend the summer outside especially in the early evening. I love to go to a park near the beach. My husband and I will take the dog for a walk and let him sniff the grass and the trees while we observe the beautiful sunset or reflection of the sun on the water. We go there and we all get exercise and relaxation. Tue, 16 Jun 2009 21:30:31 EST Forcing yourself to eat healthy foods I do not force myself to eat foods I dislike period. It would make me sick to do so. I was often forced to eat foods I did not like and I ended up literally hating those foods. I refuse to buy, prepare, or eat these foods. I look back and I also see that eating some meals (especially a large plate of food) caused me to have anxiety during meals.
I am aware that I grew up during a period of time when you ate what was on your plate or you did not get dessert. My mom was only doing w... Tue, 9 Jun 2009 21:51:55 EST How I stay motivated I stay motivated by taking things one step and one day at a time. I don't look at it as losing weight by a certain amount of time. I look at it as taking care of myself and my health one day at time. Tue, 12 May 2009 22:00:12 EST Saving money on groceries I save money on groceries by doing a combination of things. I inventory what I have in the pantry, fridge, and freezer and plan meals for the week/month around what is available to us. Then I make a list of what we need to round out those meals or to make recipes I want to make that week. I also use coupons and check flyers for sale items of our common foods/needs. I don't usually shop every week. I find that we have been able to live off of what we already have in the house. I also fin... Tue, 14 Apr 2009 21:59:46 EST Fast Break goals helped me to get motivated to a healthier lifestyle. I feel much more motivated to choosing healthier options now than I did a couple of years ago. The Fast Break goals gave me a place to start without overwhelming me. I started with water and moving around (exercise) in smaller increments and then increased them with time. This took the "overwhelm" of changing my lifestyle and gave me the tools I needed to get to where I am now. Thanks Spark People. I believe anyone can use these tools to better their lives.
