I have been struggling over the past copy of weeks with my journey. After much thought and frustration I have decided to do what I know works. I started my journey in January of this year. And I started it with SPARKPEOPLE. I worked up to where I was walking 2 miles a day with some running, I was doing Coach Nicole ST videos every night for 1/2 hour. I was eating better. I had a routine. I was relying on my Spark friends ... Mon, 22 Jul 2013 12:27:57 EST Season of the Beast Week 3 Our main challenge this week was to pick out workout challenge for this season and do the first week. I chose pushups. I completed week one of the challenge and I think I did quite well. I am still doing them on my knees but hope to eventually be able to do full push ups! We're on our way! <BR> <BR> The bonus part was to log our food for the week and practice mindful eating. I logged my food everyday, everything I ate. I tried mindful eating but with the holiday thrown in it was a litt... Sat, 6 Jul 2013 22:42:12 EST Week 17 Challenge Springing into Action Well, we made it through this challenge!!!! <BR> <BR> Our main challenge this last week was to try something we wouldn't have tried before the challenge. Mine was running. I never, ever thought I would be a runner. People would say something to me about running and I would say "this body wasn't made for running"! Well, I walk every day and I have been incorporating some running into it...and you know what....I love it!!! I plan to keep adding more running to my daily cardio!!! <BR> <... Sat, 15 Jun 2013 13:28:33 EST Kind of Ironic I was so pleased with myself today. Today makes the 125th day of my walking streak!!! I can't believe I have walked everyday for the last 125 days. The ironic part is I went to the local high school track tonight to do my daily 2 miles there was a big sign covering the entrance saying the track was closed for the summer!!!!! I couldn't believe it!!!! Apparently they are repaving the track this summer!!! So, I did my walk in the cemetery that is right next to the track. I can't get too ... Fri, 24 May 2013 23:38:40 EST Springing into Action Week 11 Challemge Our main challenge this week was to take a color quiz and then to find out our personality type according to the quiz. My color is blue and the description fit me perfectly. "Blues will benefit from keeping a training log or wearing a pedometer or heart-rate monitor. They like familiarity and cleanliness and will prefer an exercise space or gym that is organized, safe, predictable and clean." I log everything I eat and all my fitness. Sat, 4 May 2013 21:12:06 EST Springing into Action Week 10 Challenge This week our main challenge was to do 6 core exercises that were chosen for us at least 3 times this week. I think I did pretty well although I have tough time doing the exercises when you just read the instructions and look at the pictures. There's just something about seeing someone do the video that makes it easier for me. Although this isn't my favorite way to exercise I must say THANK YOU for this challenge. Sat, 27 Apr 2013 10:36:58 EST Today's Walk 4/25/13 I walk on the track at my son's high school every day....usually 2 miles. I ran some again today :). But I have to share sprinkled on me a little tonight then the sun came out. When I started on my next lap I looked up in the sky and there was a full, perfect rainbow!!! It was beautiful. I got to thinking and decided God was smiling down on me for taking care of my body and for how far I have come since the first of the year!!!!! <em>437</em> Thu, 25 Apr 2013 20:58:26 EST Pita Chips Ok, I have a new's pita chips! I know they aren't as bad as regular chips, but I still need to eat them in moderation. I also love sugar snap peas. But I did find out something today.....even if you close your eyes and concentrate really hard, sugar snap peas do not taste like pita chips when you're craving them. Money is very very tight so were are eating what we can afford. Gained a pound. Walked every day, ST everyday but one. No major weight change in over a month. Is it too soon to give up? I was so excited!!!! <em>104</em> Fri, 12 Apr 2013 21:34:04 EST Springing into Action Week 7 Challenge Our main challenge this week was to get 6 - 8 hours of sleep each night. I accomplished this! It feels so good to get a good nights sleep. Just wish I felt better. I have an infected tooth...I'm on antibiotics and am getting it pulled next Weds. It's really wearing me out. I've continued to walk every day and track my food and eat pretty well. I just had to give up my ST this jaw throbbed everytime I bent over. Sat, 30 Mar 2013 22:49:54 EST Springing into Action Week 6 Challenge For this week's main challenge we were supposed to assess our eating habits. I have been trying to eat healthy since I started with SP. I have good days and bad days. I'm doing great with moderation. I started eating breakfast which I didn't used to do. I try to have protein for breakfast to start my day. I usually have a salad for lunch thru the week. I'm trying to eat more freggies, some days I do better than others. My main problem area is dinner. I live with 3 other adults and 3 ... Sat, 30 Mar 2013 22:23:28 EST Springing into Action Week 5 Challenge This week didn't start very well for me. Had the stomach flu Monday and Tuesday. I still walked though. I only did a mile on Monday but I still got out (18 minutes). The rest of the days were a mile and three quarters at the local track (33 minutes). So nice to see the trees starting to bud out and although it was windy and cool, it was sunny a couple of days and that made it better. Tomorrow will make my 3rd day doing these videos. Although they are very good videos I really miss Coach Nicole. I started my journey on 1/6/13 at 195#. Since then I had lost 16# until yesterday...I gained a pound. I was very upset. All my hard work, exercising every day, eating better, tracking everything...and I gained!!! (I know it's only a pound but it was still a gain to me!) I was ready to give up! We got about 4 inches of snow today. I couldn't make it up the hill to my house so I had to back down and go another way. I bundled up so it wasn't that cold and did my 3 laps around the track in 3 inch deep snow! I WILL NOT MISS A DAY OF WALKING!
