LADYKRISP's SparkPeople Blog LADYKRISP's Blog on SparkPeople, home of free diet plans and a healthy living community Dear Self.... How many times am I going to start this journey and not have the courage to see it through? I'm quitting on quitting.

A very startling realization happened last week. I am using weight to protect myself. To protect myself from being hurt again, to protect myself from dreaming again, to protect myself from unwanted attention...

I have build a shield of pain around me one pound at a time and chose to take it on as my identity. Choosing to be ok with how I was seemed e... Mon, 8 Jun 2015 16:19:25 EST Day 2 - Juice fast (November 21st) My day started well. I rested so well last night!

Wasn't too hungry when I got up which is great. It was difficult to prepare breakfast for my son and to smell the food cooking and know I couldn't have any. Has anyone else done a Juice fast while living with others who aren't?

It's been a slightly harder day today because my entire team ate their lunch around me. Burgers, subway, hot dogs, and pizza. Normally I don't even notice the smells of these things, but having ... Wed, 21 Nov 2012 13:31:24 EST Day 1 - Juice fast (November 20) One month to Christmas - sigh - 39
My favourite and my least favourite time of year!
I love getting together with family, love seeing my cousins and aunts. I have a love/hate relationship with Christmas dinner (I love it, it hates me)... but worse than that are the looks of pity I get from my realtives. You know the one ... the "I can't believe how big she is" look.

So I have a month to try an really see an improved physical appearance.

After wat... Wed, 21 Nov 2012 12:14:47 EST O Happy Day! Find your Bliss If we all look at our weight issues, I think it would be fair to say that our outward appearance and obesity, often (not always) is a reflection of inner turmoil of some sort.

Somehow, somewhere- we became unhappy with ourselves or our life. It is not a natural thing to overeat. Our bodies are not made to naturally want, crave, overindulge in copious amounts of food.

However, add in the emotional aspect of the human condition and our tendency to want to bury our feelin... Mon, 19 Nov 2012 11:01:44 EST You are Worth the Effort! How often this week did you make excuses, find reasons not to exercise, eat right, or to make the right choices? We often make excuses and feel the need to explain to others why we aren't keepin up our routines.... but have you ever thought of who it is exactly that you are cheating out of a healthier lifestyle - IT's YOU!

It can be easy some times to reason away in our heads why we "deserve" to take a break - we've had a rough day, we're tired, we're busy, we're discouraged. Bu... Thu, 8 Nov 2012 09:06:34 EST The scale isn't the only measure of success!!! So the last two weeks have been difficult, busy, and really dissapointing on the exercise front. A dear friend of mine passed away and things seem to keep creaping up on my zumba days and I haven't been as motivated to go, I'm sad to say. But it is a temporary thing!

It can be so easy sometimes to get knocked off your schedule or lose motivation but remember a set-back isn't a reason to quit! The good news is that I was able to still lose a pound during those two weeks that I w... Tue, 6 Nov 2012 11:01:56 EST This is your life- You are the author- God is the editor...... This is your life. How long will you allow others to write it for you?
How long will you let what 'They' say about you be the truth you live out?

Exercise for the day:: If you knew you couldn't fail ---- What would the greatest chapter of your life look like? Write it out! Think about it and let it sink in.

Will it take work? Yes probably so....

Is it really impossible? - Probably not...

Success belongs to those who aren't deterred by trial ... Fri, 19 Oct 2012 11:04:19 EST The Best Revenge .... Ironically is Forgiveness. This is a broken world. With broken people. Shards of hearts that end up hurting those around us. It's true- Hurt PEOPLE, HURT people.

That being said... I believe there is healing for those who chose to break the cycle of hurt.

There is victory for those who choose out of principle to not enter the war.

The war of hurt. Insults, sarcasm, criticism, gossip - these are the weapons ... Mon, 15 Oct 2012 23:21:00 EST Those who fail to plan- plan to fail Ok... so confession here. I have just recently started being more organized as an individual. For a long time I was suffering from depression and lack of interest in everything - including work, housework, and cooking which used to be my favourite past-time. My health was deteriorating, I was lonely and simply reacting to whatever needed my immediate attention and failing to really plan my day. As a result, I was suffering.

With all the recent changes in my life, the hardest on... Thu, 11 Oct 2012 11:27:01 EST Healthy is my Goal - Weight-loss is just the bi-product 109 If you make weight-loss your primary goal- there will be weeks when you don't lose and you'll get disappointed, maybe even feel that you've failed.

HOWEVER! If your goal is to be healthy, love yourself, and make better choices - You can't fail! Every time you exercise, you are working to being healthier. Every time you choose to put yourself first and love yourself enough to be active, eat better, smile more- You're loving yourself! Every time you choose a healthier option at a ... Wed, 10 Oct 2012 10:11:21 EST Favourite Quote of the Day You always have a choice. No food has the power to make you eat it, and no one else determines your values or priorities.
104 Tue, 9 Oct 2012 13:17:57 EST Giving Thanks - Attitude of Gratitude will get you there! I just had to blog about how thankful I am for such a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend (Canadian of course).

Total Restoration 2013 is my new Motto! Mind - Spirit - Body !!!

I was so proud of myself for making it to the gym on Saturday before heading out and really made it worth it. I interval-challenged myself on the treadmill for 25 minutes making sure to stay in my target heart range and then braved the weight machines.... to my chagrin it took a while to figure it ou... Tue, 9 Oct 2012 09:42:27 EST I Work on Wellness and let the Doctor's worry about illness So I will be the first to admit, that even as an adult I don't enjoy hospitals or going to the Doctor. Today was a little rough, going in for a ultrasound-guided-biopsy. I got all mentally prepared telling myself that it was just a needle and that it would be quick and painless.

What I hadn't mentally prepared myself for is that it wouldn't be that quick... lol...or that painless. But I made it through. Praise God!

Now that the Doctor's have what they need, I'll work on ... Fri, 5 Oct 2012 16:23:34 EST How Do You Motivate Yourself When You're Sick? I am feeling terrible today. Hit with another cold that has left me achey and congested. I barely convinced myself to work. Lord, heal this body!!! I want to continue with my scheduled Zumba class, but at the moment feel completely ready to lay down my head... and there are... 6 hours more of work to go.

So my question is, how do you push past being sick to workout?! Is it even worth it? Or am I just wearing down an already depleated resource of energy?? Thu, 4 Oct 2012 10:08:22 EST If I'm down- don't get in the Pit with me.... Throw me a line! Life is about learning.... and whether the situation is good or bad, you can learn from it.
Bad managers are often the best experience in training you to be a good one.

I admit, I have (once again) made large significant changes in my life to take on new responsibilities. Often, as my mind adjusts to all the adapting it needs to do, I will find myself in moments of being overwhelmed.

Often these involvements that I enjoy when they all pile up at once can become ... Tue, 2 Oct 2012 14:55:02 EST This is me- getting back on the wagon Ok - this is my year and I have to understand that I'm not going to be perfect....
But rather than throw in the towel because of one bad day - I'm giving myself a pardon and just moving on!

Reflection: Why did you eat so poorly yesterday?

I was anxious because of the abdominal ultrasound, I was fasting since 9pm the night before and didn't get enough rest. A cascade effect happened, because I was in a rush for getting Seb to school early enough to get registered for... Thu, 27 Sep 2012 09:59:52 EST Lost post.... Boo... I put an html code in my blog out of habit and totally lost my entire post. Too bad, it was a good one. lol.

Second draft will have to be during my afternoon break.
Tue, 25 Sep 2012 11:59:00 EST 7 lbs down- 100 or more to go..... I nearly fell off the scale at my local gym this week. I've been focusing on being healthy and measuring my success by my perceived effort in doing regular exercising tasks rather than by weight. But for fun I checked on the same scale I originally measured and in two weeks I had lost 7 lbs! I am so excited. This is my year!!!

I also calculated my target heart rates

Target Heart Rate Results:
Your heart rate ranges (in beats per minute)
55%: 138 bpm 75%: 161... Mon, 24 Sep 2012 12:32:51 EST HEALTHY + HAPPY = A better you!!! 104

So I am finally doing a full life-change!!! I've tried changing just parts of my life and never have been successful.... now I know why. If I tried to change my eating habits, but didn't change my fitness level or the time I spent in front of the TV , of COURSE I was setting myself up to fail by not making enough changes. I would sit in front of the tv and eat!

This fall has been the best ever! I had the home internet and TV turned off, giving myself a... Mon, 24 Sep 2012 12:23:20 EST Stop thinking fat thoughts Thinking skinny takes some effort but after listening to the audio-book version of ~ The Secret~ it makes sense! You are not what you eat, but what you THINK!!! The power of attraction is a strong one, and although I think of God - rather than 'the Universe' when putting into practice their concepts- it's true. If all you do is think about losing weight, you'll attract back the need to lose more weight (Yo Yo dieting bring back any memories?)

So in order for us to get in shape,...
