Fri, 17 Jan 2014 23:19:27 EST What to do this year? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5588379 So I'm trying to set my sights on a few races this year. Having at least one per month last year really helped keep me on track with my activity goals.

185

Races I enjoyed last year and why:

Zombie Run - I'm a HUGE fan of zombie movies, and I really love the Zombies, Run! app for my phone. Having "zombies" placed throughout the race was lots of fun and gave me incentive to really put on the speed to evade them. And I was really proud of having ... Thu, 9 Jan 2014 17:52:00 EST End of the Year Update http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5575101 So after being gone for so long from the site, I thought it would be good to write a blog to catch folks up on what I've been doing since September.

Overall, not a whole lot, as far as my healthy lifestyle goes. I still take my lunch to work most days, but I haven't been really overly concerned with avoiding eating out or getting in my fitness minutes or anything. I think I just was in a bit of a funk. And I'm not even going to berate myself for the weight gain because of it. I... And I am frustrated beyond the point of anger and tears. And I am SICK to death of the well-intentioned advice/truisms from friends and acquaintances, and I'm lashing out at people who don't deserve it. And I am even MORE sick of the conflicting advice from supposed experts, some of whom don't seem to have a clue what they're talking about!

Beyond that, I have lost the joy I once had for logging in here and k... Mon, 9 Sep 2013 14:02:08 EST Zombie Run & Sunday Fun (w/ Pics) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5437572 So yesterday morning I got up and went to the Zombie Run. It was a little tough to motivate myself to go, because it was kind of rainy, but I did get my butt out the door in the end! Here's me before the run:

The three balloons at my waist represent my "lifelines." Wed, 10 Jul 2013 12:50:46 EST It's Just Not Changing! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5415501 I am getting SOOOOO frustrated. After 3 months of boot camp, running 2-3 days a week, eating right almost every day... in short, doing EVERYTHING right... I am still stuck right around 195 lbs! Steve has lost almost 20 pounds since April (and he only had 25-30 to lose!) and he's not even working out! And I was so freaking exhausted that I started questioning whether I should go. But I thought to myself, you did the Spartan on practically NO sleep, you can totally do this one. Sun, 2 Jun 2013 01:34:22 EST Insanity Run http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5374180 So Insanity Run is tomorrow, and I haven't worked out in a week due to a terrible UTI. I feel like I am better, but still not 100% so I will be taking it easy and not overdoing it. I'm disappointed that the friend who was going to do this with me rolled her ankle yesterday, so I'm going it alone. I'm pretty nervous about this run... We had a friend in town and wanted to introduce him to some of our friends here and take him to some of our favorite places. So Friday night, we went to a party that a friend was hosting. So needless to say, I'm very impressed with the battery life!

I was disappointed that it ran out of batteries just before I walked into boot camp last night, so I had to manually track that time here. Wed, 24 Apr 2013 16:31:23 EST BodyMedia http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5333056 So Steve is the bestest, most wonderfulest sweetie in all the world; he got me a BodyMedia for my birthday with a one-year subscription! I wasn't giving the show 100% of my attention, so I can't be sure if they showed them at all, but I know they didn't really mention any weight loss in Sunny's family. I Must Be Out of My Mind! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5278762 So last night, I bought a LivingSocial deal for 3 months of unlimited boot camp classes.

[And if any of my Denver friends are interested, today is the last day to get the deal for 56% off! -
www.livingsocial.com/deals/587722?re
f=conf-jp&rpi=108314894
]

Now I've been contemplating doing a boot camp for probably 2 years now. And so seeing a deal for less than half off, I decided to go for it.

YAY! 104

Ummmmmm, wait... ... Fri, 8 Mar 2013 11:24:02 EST Cookie and Ice Cream (Hold the Guilt) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5278129 I got back from my run, made Steve and I a wonderful dinner (lemon pepper tilapia with couscous and spinach) and then discovered that I was still WAY under my calorie goal for the day... So I indulged in a chocolate chip cookie and some vanilla ice cream.

495 76

It was DELICIOUS! And I don't even feel a little bad about it. I kept it to a proper portion - one cookie and 1/2 cup ice cream. And even with my indulgence, I was only 4 calories in... Thu, 7 Mar 2013 22:51:41 EST Soooo close... AGAIN! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5274349 I am 2 pounds away from One-derland... again.

There's a level of frustration that I allowed myself to gain back over 200 pounds. When I made it to the 190s in December 2011, I promised myself I'd never go back there again! But then again, there's a level of pride that I stopped myself from ballooning up to my previous weights, turned it around and started losing again. And here I am, right around the corner from being in One-derland again.

Perhaps it's not a terrible ... Tue, 5 Mar 2013 12:58:28 EST SparkDenver is Growing! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5272848 I'm so very excited to see the Denver team really starting to take off... We had 4 team members (5 including me) join us for our Walk & Talk yesterday (+1 significant other and +2 furry friends!). We also had several team members post that they couldn't make it this week but hoped to make it out soon. After being here for over a year, it's wonderful to see the team start to get more active!

252

And since I am the team leader and the one organizing a lot of... I just haven't felt like doing much of anything... especially since just changing the sheets on the bed on Sunday totally winded me.

29

But ya know what, I'm sick of it! And I have a race in less than 2 weeks. I know there's no way I can run an entire 7K... Thu, 21 Feb 2013 17:26:35 EST Biggest Loser, Unrealistic Expectations http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5253710 I'm watching last week's episode of Biggest Loser, and it's really disturbing to me to see the contestants being genuinely upset about 4- and 6-pound weight losses. I know that it is because it means a risk of falling below the yellow line and being out of the game...

... But what kind of signal are we sending to the rest of the country? That if you can't pull amazing numbers every week, you have failed? That your success is defined by the number on the scale? I don't like this...
