Stay motivated! With nursing school I have never been this busy in my life. It has caused me to repeatedly fall back into old bad habits. I will lose then gain then lose then gain more than what I started with. I hope posting everyday, sticking with the challenges, and interacting with my team mates help me stick with it for the 12 weeks, and even longer once this is over.

2. My goal for the 12 weeks is to lose at least 12 pounds. That being 1 pound each week. I would like to b... Wed, 5 Jun 2013 10:17:57 EST 5k week 7 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5338000 7 days til race day!

So i got some bad news at the beginning of this week. My mother, who is my running buddy for this race, and who has rheumatoid arthritis, is having a bad flare up. All her joints, especially her hips are swollen and hurting really bad. Since she has lost all her weight she has not had one this bad in a very long time, so we are blaming the running.
Her doctor put her on a new medicine for a couple weeks and told her to take it easy and not to run for tho... Sun, 28 Apr 2013 08:22:39 EST 5k week 6 (a week late!) http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5337993 14 days til race day!

I am very bummed about this weeks training. And next week doesn't look promising either. I was only able to run sunday because of my crazy school schedule. Being that it is the end of the semester, twice as much work is getting thrown at us all at once. I barely find time to sleep! I'm hoping to get all my papers and projects out of the way early and get my time management back on track.
Sundays run was very good though. I did not track the time, as i w... Sun, 28 Apr 2013 08:13:14 EST 5k Week 5 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5325881 21 days til race day!!

Last week I didn't get my three days in so this week i did 4 running days and 2 cross training days. My week started off great!! My mile time improved so much the first day of this week, with the first of the three miles being just above 13 mins. I started to slow down the next two but I was still happy with the improvement. I am still running with my mom and she has also improved a lot. I am so proud of her!
The next couple of days I had gone myself. T... Wed, 17 Apr 2013 00:18:13 EST 5k Week 4 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5315443 28 days til race day!

This week had its highs and lows. I am upset because i was not able to get in my usual 3 days of training, only 2, because I have been very busy with school work and studying for an upcoming exam. I plan on putting in an extra day next week!
The two days were good however! I ran outside again this week. The first day was on my usual trail. I am getting use to the landmarks I use for distance, and this week I was able to run farther each one as I am begin... Mon, 8 Apr 2013 07:38:32 EST 5k Week 3 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5307356 35 days til race day!

Wow! Week 3 already finished! The week I changed things up. Because of the nice weather, I trained outside at a local paved trail instead of inside on the treadmill. This way I could get a feel for how the pavement was for race day. I actually enjoyed it much more than being in the stuffy gym! The running intervals did not seem as long and I was walking and running faster than I usually set the treadmill at, (and that's saying a lot because I have a VERY short... Mon, 1 Apr 2013 10:44:22 EST Non-scale victories! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5303745 I just want to keep track of my non scale victories so when I have a bad week I can reflect backnon what I HAVE accomplished

3/28/13:
1. Seeing old friends and having them say I look great
2. Having new friends tell me they are proud of me for stepping out of my comfort zone and really commiting myself
3. Having my size 16 jeans become too big, to wear I can pull them down without any struggle while they are still buttoned and zipped.
4. Improving my mile time:... Thu, 28 Mar 2013 22:10:03 EST What has INSPIRED me? http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5300220 My mom has inspired me. I am around her everyday so i never noticed how much weight she was truly putting on. After seeing a picture of herself at my sisters college graduation she was disgusted and knew she had to change. When she stepped on the scale and it read 245, she was even more motivated. My mom has very bad rheumatoid arthritis that makes any task difficult because every joint in her body aches. But she managed each day to push trough it! In 7 months my mom has made so many accompli... Tue, 26 Mar 2013 00:04:35 EST 5k Week 2 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5298657 42 days til race day!

After week 1 i was dreading week two which consisted of running 1.5mins/walking 2mins 6 times. The first day I was really proud of myself, and especially my mom (who is doing this with rheumatoid arthritis!). We knocked out the first couple intervals and the last few were not bad. And boy was I was sore waking up the next morning, so I took a few days off from training. When i got back into it, the running still wasn't bad and I was able to keep up. Even in my... Sun, 24 Mar 2013 20:45:10 EST 5k Week 1 http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5298621 49 days til race day!

Week one was a struggle! I never EVER run! I started a 5k training program and for week 1 i have to run 1min/walk 1.5min 8 times. This first one was ok but all the rest after were torture. I was stuffling to breaths and water all at th same time. But i did them ALL!
Mile time:19.58 Sun, 24 Mar 2013 20:17:20 EST Motivation = 5k! http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=5298620 I signed up to do my first 5k! I was shocked. My nursing class was talking about it and I wanted to be a part of it. It is an all women race and perfect for beginners because it is all flat. You can choose to run/jog/or walk. Upon registering I chose walk, but my goal is to not walk the entire thing. My ultimate goal is to finish under 50min! I am doing this with my mom, so we can push each other and work together.
1. I want to prove to myself that I can do something out of my comfort z... Sun, 24 Mar 2013 20:13:10 EST
